“The wife shrine Oleg shows Ivar is actually her resurrection.

“He sees himself as prophet. And Ivar sees himself as god.

“Maybe Oleg sent Freydis to spy on Ivar to see who this newly proclaimed God is, she betrayed Oleg and fell in love with Ivar, married him.”

Is Oleg using Katya as revenge on Ivar for killing Freydis?

Game of Thrones: Daenerys Targaryen RESURRECTED in huge season 6 clue you missed https://briefnews.eu/game-of-thrones-daenerys-targaryen-resurrected-in-huge-season-6-clue-you-missed/ https://briefnews.eu/game-of-thrones-daenerys-targaryen-resurrected-in-huge-season-6-clue-you-missed/#respond Sat, 17 Aug 2019 20:43:51 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/game-of-thrones-daenerys-targaryen-resurrected-in-huge-season-6-clue-you-missed/

The season six finale of Game of Thrones ended with Daenerys Targaryen (played by Emilia Clarke) coming incredibly close to sitting on the Iron Throne after years of longing to return to Westeros.

However, her dreams were dashed when lover and nephew Jon Snow (Kit Harington) killed her after watching the Mother of Dragons burn much of King’s Landing to the ground.

Her dead body was picked up and carried away by her remaining dragon Drogon and the last fans heard of his whereabouts was he had flown East.

So far, many viewers believe this has hinted he is taking her to her final resting place presumably in Old Valyria.

However, in a shock twist, it seems Drogon may have actually been taking her to someone not somewhere.

Fans saw Daenerys emerge from the burning funeral pyre of Khal Drogo (Jason Momoa) in season one and from a burning hut of Dothraki in season six.

It wasn’t until the season eight finale it seemed Daenerys could be killed but maybe she isn’t dead.

Viewers will remember Red Priestess Kinvara (Ania Bukstein) visited the Great Pyramid of Mereen in season six to meet with the Khaleesi but was told to leave by Tyrion Lannister (Peter Dinklage).

Deanerys was currently with the Dothraki so couldn’t meet with Kinvara anyway but something she said to Tyrion and Missandei (Nathalie Emmanuel) hints Daenerys could have been resurrected.

She told the pair: “Daenerys Stormborn is the one who was promised. From the fire she was reborn to remake the world.

READ MORE: Game of Thrones: Jaime and Cersei Lannister were destined to die together – here’s why

“Daenerys has been sent to lead the people against the darkness in this war and in the great war still to come.”

Daenerys did not have the chance to “remake the world” or “lead the world against darkness” as she was murdered before ruling Westeros.

So could this be a big clue that Drogon was taking Daenerys’ body so his mother could be resurrected in a similar way to how Jon was brought back to life by Melisandre (Carice Van Houten).

Fans know Jon was killed when the men of the Night’s Watch turned on the Lord Commander and Melisandre was tasked with resurrecting him.

With Jon and many of Daenerys’ allies turning against her, could her death mirror that of Jon’s and see her return for revenge or to take the throne from Bran Stark (Isaac Hempstead Wright?

With season eight being the final of the series it seems fans may never know what really happened to Daenerys’ dead body.

It comes after Melisandre star Carice revealed she saw her character’s past as a “mystery” as she wasn’t provided with much detail.

“I really like to figure everything out – that’s mostly how I work, and I ask a load of questions normally. But in this case that was really hard,” she told The Wrap.

“There are books, but I didn’t want to trust in those, so I stuck to the scripts.

“But every time I wanted to know something about what was going to happen, they couldn’t tell me much. So she was quite a bit of a mystery to me as well. I learned to enjoy not knowing.”

Avengers 4 ENDING theory: Is THIS how dead characters will be RESURRECTED? https://briefnews.eu/avengers-4-ending-theory-is-this-how-dead-characters-will-be-resurrected/ https://briefnews.eu/avengers-4-ending-theory-is-this-how-dead-characters-will-be-resurrected/#respond Sun, 30 Sep 2018 17:13:45 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/avengers-4-ending-theory-is-this-how-dead-characters-will-be-resurrected/

The sequel to Avengers Infinity War will be both the end of an era and the beginning of a new one.

It’s no real coincidence at all that the survivors of Thanos’ Snap are the original Avengers team, plus a few extras.

Iron Man and Captain America are going to have to put their Civil War differences aside and team up to some how resurrect the character who turned to ash – a plot point made certain by the fact that Spider-Man Far From Home is currently shooting, while Black Panther, Doctor Strange and Guardians of the Galaxy sequels are all in the works.

If anything it’s the survivors of Thanos’ Snap who fans should be worried about, especially as actors like Robert Downey Jr and Chris Evans’ contracts are ending.

Joe continued: “For us, there will always be stakes and the stakes have been progressing from film to film. And I think you can extrapolate that they will continue to deepen in Avengers 4.”

Now while we can speculate forever which out of Iron Man, Captain America, Black Widow, Hulk, Thor and Hawkeye will die in the fight back, there is one obvious narrative trope that looks likely to be used. And no we don’t mean the common fan theory that Captain America will die; he’s too pure, too obvious.

The most obvious candidate is Tony Stark, the figurehead of the franchise, the mentor to Peter Parker and the character with a deep character development that has seen him move from selfish billionaire playboy to sacrificial father figure. Let’s not forget that Doctor Strange traded the Time Stone for Tony’s life to ensure Endgame occurred – perhaps he needs him to die later on.

And what better way for Iron Man to bow out than to give up his life in exchange for those who died in Avengers Infinity War. But how?

Well there’s the popular theory that the dead characters are actually encased in the Soul Stone.

Just imagine if the stone somehow finds its way back to Vormir, where Thanos had to sacrifice the one he loved for it: Gamora.

Now just how fitting would it be for Tony Stark to ask Steve Rogers – after all the conflict they’ve been through in Civil War – to push him, the one he loves, into the cavern below, sacrificing himself to resurrect those who perished in the Snap.

That would be the perfect end to Iron Man’s character arc, the perfect end to the first MCU saga and the perfect end to Avengers 4.

Avengers 4 is set for release in UK cinemas on April 26, 2019.

Samsung’s resurrected Galaxy Note 7 launches on July 7th https://briefnews.eu/samsungs-resurrected-galaxy-note-7-launches-on-july-7th/ https://briefnews.eu/samsungs-resurrected-galaxy-note-7-launches-on-july-7th/#respond Sun, 02 Jul 2017 15:16:14 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/samsungs-resurrected-galaxy-note-7-launches-on-july-7th/

If you’ve missed the Galaxy Note 7 ever since it was discontinued over chronic battery fires, you now have a second chance at ownership… if you’re willing to book a flight to Seoul. Samsung has confirmed both recent rumors and its own teaser by announcing a refurbished version of the Note 7, the Galaxy Note Fan Edition, that will launch in South Korea on (appropriately enough) July 7th. As you might guess, it’s largely the same phone hardware-wise — the big difference is the use of safer, smaller-capacity batteries that have passed stricter testing standards. They’ll also include the Bixby assistant software introduced with the Galaxy S8.

Don’t expect to have an easy time finding one. The Galaxy Note FE will sell for about 30 percent less than the original Note 7, at 699,600 won (about $ 611), but only 400,000 units will be available on its Korean home turf. Sales in other countries will be “decided later,” Samsung says, and it has already ruled out sales in the US. This isn’t a glorious comeback, to put it another way — it’s more about clearing inventory by selling to fans still suffering from withdrawal.

As it stands, the revived phone may be a tough sell if you aren’t a serious Note 7 devotee. Remember, the Note 8 is likely weeks away. Would you want to buy last year’s phone (albeit at a discount) knowing a big upgrade is right around the corner? Still, this is at least a smart use of resources — activists were worried Samsung would create massive amounts of e-waste by tossing Note 7 units aside instead of repurposing them.

World War Z Brad Pitt zombie sequel RESURRECTED with a major director https://briefnews.eu/world-war-z-brad-pitt-zombie-sequel-resurrected-with-a-major-director/ https://briefnews.eu/world-war-z-brad-pitt-zombie-sequel-resurrected-with-a-major-director/#respond Thu, 27 Apr 2017 20:49:40 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/world-war-z-brad-pitt-zombie-sequel-resurrected-with-a-major-director/

A few months ago the sequel to the 2013 hit had been given up for, well, dead.

Paramount had originally projected a Summer 2017 release for the movie but with no sign of production starting it seemed that it had been buried. Its removal from schedules in February was seen as confirmation.

However, there seems to be undead life in the franchise, after all.

A new report in Variety says that production is expected to start early next year with Pitt still attached and an A-list director at the helm.

Back in December 2013 Juan Antonio Bayona was announced as the director for a sequel with a US release date of June 9, 2017.

Bayona’s exit in January 2016 was followed by rumours last August that legendary director David Fincher was interested. Although he rarely does blockbusters, apart from the ill-fated Alien 3, he had worked previously with Pitt on Se7en and Fight Club.

Half a year later, it appears that Fincher really is about to sign on.

Fincher’s last big screen outing was 2014’s Gone Girl with Ben Affleck.

The respected director has been concentrating on television, after developing the sci-fi show Mindhunters for Netflix. A second season has already been commissioned before the first has hit screens.

Industry insider now expect that the long-awaited World War Z sequel might finally stagger into cinemas in summer 2109.

The original World War Z, itself, had a laboured road to the big screen, with numerous delays and considerable rumours of rewrites and disputes.

However, when it finally arrived, it surprised critics and pulled in a very strong $ 540million at the global box office to become the most successful zombie film of all time.

World War Z remains Brad Pitt’s most successful movie at the US box office and the only one to take more than half a billion dollars worldwide. After a disatrous result for the recent Allied, he will be keen to restore his clout with a blockbuster hit.

Game of Thrones season 7 spoiler: HUGE character set to be resurrected as a White Walker https://briefnews.eu/game-of-thrones-season-7-spoiler-huge-character-set-to-be-resurrected-as-a-white-walker/ https://briefnews.eu/game-of-thrones-season-7-spoiler-huge-character-set-to-be-resurrected-as-a-white-walker/#respond Tue, 25 Apr 2017 20:32:17 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/game-of-thrones-season-7-spoiler-huge-character-set-to-be-resurrected-as-a-white-walker/

Hodor’s death was easily the most devastating from season six, but fans have speculated the hero, played by Kristian Nairn, could return as a White Walker.

The actor has now waded in on the rumours and has admitted that he’d “love” the theories to come true.

“As a fan, I’m not sure I would love that,” he told the Belfast Telegraph when asked if he would be interested in returning as “an instrument of evil”.

“But as an actor, I would absolutely love that, and it would be so much fun to play that.

“But I kind of think it’s nice the way it’s left. There have been enough rebirth moments in Game of Thrones.”

He teased: “I’m just going to say no, but I might be lying. I can’t give anything away. I have let things slip before by accident, and I’ve learnt the hard way.”

Game of Thrones fans may have also stumbled another huge spoiler for the looming cycle ahead, as a picture generously donated by HBO seemingly reveals who is The Prince That Was Promised.

In the literary series, a mystical figure united with the First Men to rally against the White Walkers in the War for the Dawn over 8,000 years before the events of the George R.R. Martin books.

Among those speculated to be named as the aforementioned figure include likely suspects Jon Snow and Jamie Lannister, while the late Stannis Baratheon has also been thrown into the mix.

Game of Thrones season 7 returns to HBO and Sky Atlantic in July.

Google resurrected a dead product on Wednesday and no one noticed (GOOG) https://briefnews.eu/google-resurrected-a-dead-product-on-wednesday-and-no-one-noticed-goog/ https://briefnews.eu/google-resurrected-a-dead-product-on-wednesday-and-no-one-noticed-goog/#respond Thu, 23 Mar 2017 05:24:41 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/google-resurrected-a-dead-product-on-wednesday-and-no-one-noticed-goog/ google AP/Ben Margot

Google has built a $ 580 billion empire by keeping its innovation engine running ahead of the competition. But on Wednesday the company pulled off an impressive, and curious, feat: it wowed the public with an eight year old idea.

Google unveiled a new set of features for its popular Maps app that lets users share their locations with friends and contacts in real time. Thanks to this update, Google Maps users will now be able to quickly let friends know if they’re running late to a meeting or stuck in traffic.

It’s a compelling idea. And if you’re wondering why Google never thought of this earlier, the answer is, it did.

In 2009, when smartphones were still in their infancy, Google introduced something called Latitude.

The Latitude app, to quote Google’s blog post announcing it, “allows you to share your location with your friends and to see their approximate locations, if they choose to share them with you.” In other words, it’s almost the exact same feature that Google is now touting as the hot new thing.

Take a look at the two side by side.

Here is Google Latitude, circa 2009:

 Google LatitudeGoogle

And here is a screenshot of the new Google Maps location sharing feature:

 Google MapsGoogle

The interfaces look almost exactly identical, even though technology has changed dramatically during the past eight years (the initial version of Google Latitude was for Blackberry phones).

At the time Latitude was launched, the app drew widespread privacy concerns. Privacy International, a European watchdog group, published a report highlighting the risk that users might not be aware Latitude was enabled and could thus have their whereabouts tracked. A Google spokesperson told Computerworld at the time that the company takes user feedback about privacy seriously and was adding notification features to alert users when Latitude was turned on.

Hello, again

Eight years later, the privacy concerns haven’t gone away, but by and large, the outcry has been a footnote to the story. Instead, most of the coverage has focused on the benefits of sharing location — for example, allowing parents to keep track of their smartphone-toting children — not fear-mongering of how it could go wrong.

The world has changed since 2009 when Google first tried this. Two billion people are on Facebook’s social network. Millions of people wear bracelets that record their physical activity. The new hot gadget du jour is an eavesdropping microphone-speaker device with an innocent name like Alexa that consumers voluntarily put in their kitchen to get quick weather updates and sports scores.

It’s not the first time we’ve seen a once controversial tech products resurface in new packaging a few years later and receive a much warmer reception. Just look at how much cooler people think Snapchat’s camera-recording sunglasses are only a few years after Google Glass.

The Google Maps location sharing comeback is a good reminder about how quickly technology moves and how fluid our seemingly deeply-rooted societal norms might actually be.

More importantly, it’s a good time to reflect and take stock of exactly what we give up (and what we gain) every time we embrace the latest life-changing tech toys and services.

Barley recognizable: Resurrected 5,000yo Chinese beer resembles oatmeal https://briefnews.eu/barley-recognizable-resurrected-5000yo-chinese-beer-resembles-oatmeal/ https://briefnews.eu/barley-recognizable-resurrected-5000yo-chinese-beer-resembles-oatmeal/#respond Thu, 09 Feb 2017 17:37:20 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/barley-recognizable-resurrected-5000yo-chinese-beer-resembles-oatmeal/

A group of US students have taken craft brewing to a whole new level after recreating a 5,000 year old Chinese beer recipe.

The antiquated formula was discovered by students from Stanford Archaeology Center on the inside of pottery containers, during an excavation in northeast China.

The recipe contains some elements of modern beer such as cereal grains and barley and others like Job’s tears, a form of grass found in parts of Asia, which is not so common in modern brews.

The prevalence of barley surprised the team of researchers as to date the earliest known evidence for barley seeds in China dates back to 4,000 years ago.

The beer, however, looks more like a staple food than a drink, resembling porridge and tasting sweet and fruity in comparison to the average contemporary tipple.

The beer was created as part of Professor Li Liu’s, Archaeology of Food: Production, Consumption and Ritual course and was made using ancient brewing techniques. The recipe was discovered by Liu and her team last spring.

Speaking to Stanford News, Liu said: “Our results suggest the purpose of barley’s introduction in China could have been related to making alcohol rather than as a staple food.”
