  • WhatsApp cofounder Jan Koum announced he planned to leave Facebook in April.
  • But he’s still showing up to the office once a month so he can continue to collect $ 450 million in Facebook stock he’s contractually due from when Facebook bought his company.
  • It’s a high-dollar example of “rest and vest,” where big tech companies pay senior employees who don’t do much work. 
  • Koum has already sold over $ 7 billion in Facebook stock. 

WhatsApp cofounder Jan Koum said in April that he planned to leave Facebook, which bought his company for $ 19 billion in 2014. He’s already sold $ 7.1 billion worth of Facebook shares. 

But he’s still showing up to the office, The Wall Street Journal reports, to collect one last payday: $ 450 million in stock.

As well as being a good way to track your fitness, regularly checking your resting heart rate can alert you to a potential health issue. 

Generally a lower heart rate implies more efficient heart function and better cardiovascular fitness. 

According to Mayo Clinic, a well-trained athlete might have a normal resting heart rare closer to 40 beats a minute. 

American company Fitbit has come up with a variety of other things your resting heart rate can identify, from overtraining to being too stressed. 

You’re sleep deprived 

If you’re always tired there’s a chance you’re suffering from chronic sleep deprivation which can lead to fatigue, a lower metabolism and can also raise your resting heart rate. Expert recommend seven to nine hours of sleep per night. 

You’re overtraining 

If you notice an increase in your resting heart rate when you’re going heavy on your training, your body may be telling you that you need to scale back, according to Fitbit. Make sure to have rest and give your body the opportunity to repair and adapt. 

You’re too stressed 

Fitbit says: “Prolonged mental and emotional stress can also cause your resting rate to creep up over time. 

“If ‘fight-or-flight’ mode becomes your norm, the associated increase in your resting heart rate can produce a higher risk of heart attacks, strokes and much more. 

“Try adding relaxation into your day—read, meditate, go for a walk with friends, or do a guided breathing session on your Fitbit Charge 2 or Fitbit Blaze.”

You’re dehydrated 

You may notice a temporary increase in your resting heart rate on a hot day – this is most likely your body trying to cool down. But it could also be a sign you’re dehydrated, in which case, drink more water to help lower your resting heart rate. 

You’re developing a medical condition 

Shortness breath, unusual fatigue, dizziness, excessive third or urination and an increase in your resting heart rate could mean you’re at risk of cardiovascular disease, hyperthyroidism or type 2 diabetes. 

If you do notice a change in your resting heart rate but none of the reasons above can help explain it, there could be two other factors, according to Fitbit – age and medication. 

It advises: “Unfortunately, as you get older, your resting heart rate tends to increase. To reduce the impact that raging can have on your cardiovascular system, you can help maximise your results by exercising without your target heart rate zone to help lower your resting heart rate. 

“Changes in your resting heart rate can also result from over-the-counter or prescription medication. Medications to treat asthma, depression, obesity, and attention deficit disorder tend to increase your resting heart rate. 

“However, medications prescribed for hypertension and heart conditions (beta blockers, calcium channel blockers) typically decrease your resting heart rate.

Heart disease is one of the UK’s leading killers, but doing yoga could help ward off symptoms.

In a short clip uploaded to Imgur the girl, wearing a purple top, can be seen sitting on her sofa.

A small black dog sits quietly in front of her, with his back to her.

Deciding to bother the dog, the girl blows hard on the back of his head.

He turns around, and she grins at having got his attention. But she quickly regrets her actions as the dog reacts in a surprising way.

The little dog looks at her for a few seconds before deciding he isn’t happy.

He then lifts his paw and slaps the girl in the face.

Her head moves to the right and the smile disappears from her face.

The clip has gone viral online, with over 277,000 views.

One commenter wrote: “People are terrible, and I hate them.”

Another said: “Can’t we all just get along? No? Oh, okay.”

One person said: “Sweet, sweet justice.”

And one wrote simply: “This pleases me.”

This is not the first time a dog has had revenge – video footage showing a man trying to kick a stray dog has gone viral after he suffered immediate karma.

A man enjoying a fun evening on the beach with friends spotted a stray dog in the distance and decided to liven up the night’s events by tormenting the pooch.

The dog was minding its own business when the man decided to strike.

While his friends waited sat down, the man sprinted towards the canine and looked as though he was ready to kick it – but then something amazing happened.

Kane scored four goals for Tottenham as they demolished Leicester to go two clear of Lukaku at the top of the Premier League chart on 26.

And the England striker, who has 32 goals in all competitions this season, warned Lukaku he is targeting a repeat against relegated Hull on the final day of the season.

“I was looking to take it into the last game but now I’m in the driving seat,” said Kane. “I’m not resting on my laurels and I’ll go to Hull looking to get four more hopefully.”

Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino hailed Kane as “one of the best strikers in the world” and insisted he will stay at the club this summer.

“We have a very exciting project, there’s no reasons for Kane to want to leave the club,” he said.

“It is fantastic for him. It is a season again where he fights to be the top scorer in the Premier League.

“He is great, he is one of the best strikers in the world. He will try to keep going in the next game and try to finish in the best way.

“He was injured two times in the season but he is so fresh now and he is trying to score a lot of goals to finish at the top. We have another opportunity against Hull.”

Leicester boss Craig Shakespeare questioned his players’ desire in the closing stages.

“When you lose 6-1 there are no positives,” he said.
