From the creators of Torchlight I & II, Hob steps up to the plate and dazzles with a beautiful environment, one you’ll explore as you do your best to put a crumbling planet back together.
The first thing that players can see from the trailer is Hob’s beautiful scenery that sets a stage for a grand adventure. The open world is vast and full of both puzzles, monsters and ruins to discover, and even befriend a couple of sprites along the way!
In this planet-repairing action adventure, there will be tons of large scale puzzles where players will be able to see the fruits of their labor come together instantly when they come to a solution, with environments shifting due to player actions. Players who crave a thrilling battle won’t be disappointed either, for the world is plagued with monsters that you must combat with your mechanical arm to restore the planet to its former glory.
If you’re a fan of not being bogged down by reams of dialogue, Hob is here for you. It will guide you through the world and teach you of your quest without a single word. Even without words, Hob uses its talent for visuals and simple movements to draw out strong emotional response. This journey may be a silent one, but it won’t be without a tale that you’ll likely have stuck in your head for a long time to come.
You can purchase Hob on Steam here or on the PlayStation Store! You can also follow the developers on their site, Facebook, YouTube or Twitter!

WORKING night shifts could stop the body being able to repair damage to DNA and could even increase the risk of developing cancer, experts have revealed.![]()
SCIENTISTS have revealed that the Indian curry spice turmeric may hold the secret to building and repairing bone mass in the elderly.![]()
GETTY
Scientists believe that turmeric my hold the key to better bone density
The study involved fit, healthy and slim men and women who all suffered declining bone density.
In just six months, those taking a daily tablet of the turmeric and soy lecithin formulation boosted bone density by seven per cent compared with a group given a placebo.
The quality of bone in the heels, jaws and fingers of the group – who had an average age of 70 – was measured at the start of the project using specialized ultrasound scanning.
By the end of the trial bone density had increased in all three sites by up to 7 per cent above the placebo, suggesting a significant benefit.
Curcumin researchers from the University of Sydney, Australia, along with INSERM the French government’s medical research laboratories, and a team of doctors from four prestigious American universities, have published similar conclusions.
Doctors are increasingly concerned that almost three quarters of elderly people lose strength-providing bone mineral.

The condition called osteopenia, mostly caused by a lack of exercise, can worsen into osteoporosis and lead to fatal fractures if untreated.
We’re are delighted by these results
Every year about 65,000 people suffer hip fractures caused by bone fragility, leading to the deaths of up to 35 per cent of victims in the older age groups.
Turmeric+, which comes from the powerful root of the curcumin plant, is sold in Britain by the Cambridge bioscience company Cambridge Nutraceuticals under the brand FutureYou.
Alf Lindberg, a former Nobel prize committee member who is a scientific spokesman for Cambridge Nutraceuticals, said: “We’re are delighted by these results, and we are stepping up our osteoporosis research programme with turmeric as a result.
“Our formulation is better absorbed by the human body than turmeric in its natural form, and we believe it could offer an earlier side-effect free alternative for people at risk from osteoporosis.“
Bone mineral density is regulated by maintaining a balance between bone-building osteoblast cells and osteoclasts, which are designed to mop up ageing bone cells for replacement.
In older people osteoclast activity may outweigh the rate of bone replacement.

Almost three quarters of elderly people lose strength-providing bone mineral
Stefano Togni, is scientific spokesman for the world’s largest researcher into plant based treatments, Indena, which developed the raw material for Turmeric+.
He said the Italian company had produced similar promising bone-building results with the uniquely bioavailable compound in animal studies.
He said: “Our work suggests this form of curcumin dampens down the rate of bone resorption which could be very good news, because it would mean that people who are in the early stages of bone loss will now have a treatment.”
Elise Verron, a specialist in the evaluation of medicines for INSERM from the University of Nantes in France, was a co-author of a review of the bone-building properties of curcumin and turmeric in the Nature journal Bonekey.
She agrees that the key to harnessing its power will depend on developing strategies to improve absorption.
She said: “In the past decade there has been growing interest in curcumin because of its low toxicity and multiple therapeutic actions including anti-cancer, anti-inflammatory and anti-microbial activities, but few studies have looked at its effect on bone tissue.
“At the moment it is too early to get a clear idea of the benefit.”

Luca Giacomelli, of the department of integrated diagnostics at Genoa University, who was one of the leaders of the new Italian study, said the results were promising.
But he cautioned that the effect cannot be replicated simply by adding regular curry to the diet because turmeric in food is less easily absorbed.
He said: “People need to take this kind of high quality supplement under medical supervision.”
The findings may also come as good news for thousands of people advised by doctors to take bisphosphonate drugs designed to maintain bone density by reducing the rate of bone breakdown.
Latest research has suggested that long term users of these drugs may suffer ‘microcracks’.

For three weeks in February, torrents of water rushed down the emergency spillway at Oroville dam, prompting fears that the entire structure would collapse. New images show what’s left of the 3,000-foot long concrete spillway—and the tremendous challenge that now confronts repair crews.
Aerial photos of the Oroville dam show the bottom portion of the spillway completely ripped to shreds, and a dramatic canyon wall with steep cliffs running along side of it. Bits of concrete, rock, mud, and timber lie at the bottom of the structure, clogging the Feather River.

Some 188,000 people from Oroville had to be evacuated in mid-February after the spillway showed signs of failure. Weeks of heavy rain prompted officials to release overflowing water from the massive reservoir, but once the flow proved more than the chute could handle, concern emerged that the dam itself might collapse. Mercifully, the structure held.
Earlier this week, California’s Department of Water Resources turned off the flow of water, allowing for preliminary inspections of the damaged spillway, and to allow workers to start on what appears to be a monumental cleanup. Once the debris is removed from the lower channels, the DWR can restart flow through the dam itself and switch the hydroelectric plant back on. The hydro plant has been out of action for weeks, removing 819 megawatts of power from the local grid.

As the new photos show, the damage is quite serious, and concerns remain about the integrity of facility given that there are still five more weeks to go in California’s rainy season—not to mention the billions of gallons of water that will rush to the reservoir once the snowpack in the Sierra Nevada starts to melt.

The image above shows just how difficult the repairs are going to be. The erosion caused by the rushing waters created a sizeable hole in the midsection of the spillway. Writing in the American Geophysical Union’s Landslide Blog, geologist Dave Petley says the new structure “will need to be properly founded onto competent rock” as it appears that “sections of the spillway that initially appear to be undamaged are in fact weakened.”

As reported in the Sacramento Bee, officials are giving some thought to creating a new spillway in preparation for the 2017-18 rainy season. In the meantime, experts aren’t worried about the condition of the damaged spillway, saying it can still handle overflow waters should the need arise. It appears that the bedrock below the undamaged part of the spillway is much stronger than the weathered material on the upper portion of the hillside. And when filled with water, the hole created by the erosion should act as a kind of shock absorber. As one expert told the Sacramento Bee, “It has the ability to absorb and dissipate energy.”

The spillway was supposed to be able to handle 250,000 cubic feet of water per second (cfs), but its midsection collapsed on February 7th when a relatively tame 55,000 cfs poured down it. Theories as to what went wrong are starting to emerge. As the Sacramento Bee reports:
[Engineering consultant Paul Tullis points] to a phenomenon known as “cavitation,” in which the blast of tiny water bubbles gushing down the chute at 50 mph effectively jack-hammered holes in weakened sections of concrete. Others, such as Robb Moss, a professor of geotechnical engineering at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, speculate that roots from trees growing along the chute expanded weaknesses in the concrete. [David] Rogers, the dam failure expert from Missouri, said the spillway may have had cracks that weren’t properly patched. He also theorized the failure may have been tied to California’s five-year drought: The aging spillway could have weakened as it underwent contractions due to the sudden heavy soaking following years of dry weather.
The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, which licenses the dam, has ordered the state to open an investigation.

The GOP triumphantly shoved a budget through Congress three weeks ago that gave committees until Jan. 27 to write bills dismantling the law and substituting a Republican plan. Everyone knew that deadline was soft, but now leaders are talking instead about moving initial legislation by early spring.
And as the party struggles to translate its long-time political mantra into legislation that can pass Congress, some Republicans have started using different language to describe the effort.
“It’s repairing the damage Obamacare has caused. It’s more accurate” than repeal and replace, said Sen. Lamar Alexander, R-Tenn., who chairs the Senate health committee. He notes that President Donald Trump and many Republicans want to keep popular pieces of the overhaul like requiring family policies to cover children up to age 26.
“It probably lessens people’s anxiety that we won’t pull the rug out from under them,” Rep. Pat Tiberi, R-Ohio, who chairs a House health subcommittee, said of the term “repair.”
The refined rhetoric comes as much of Washington’s focus has shifted to Trump’s nomination of Judge Neil Gorsuch for the Supreme Court vacancy and Democratic attempts to derail GOP efforts to confirm Cabinet members. That and controversies surrounding Trump’s temporary refugee ban have sapped some energy from the health care drive.
It also comes with polls spotlighting the GOP’s risks. A recent Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research poll found 53 percent want to keep Obama’s law in some form, and 56 percent are “extremely” or “very” concerned that repeal means many will lose insurance.
House Speaker Paul Ryan, R-Wis., has been saying Republicans want to “rescue” the health system and Thursday embraced all of the competing phraseology, saying, “The best way to repair a health care system is to repeal and replace Obamacare.”
But talk of a repair dismays other Republicans, including hard-line conservatives. They say their message since Democrats enacted the 2010 law was that the GOP would repeal it, a goal later amended to “repeal and replace.”
“You’ve got to repeal the law that’s the problem. That’s what we told the voters we were going to do,” said Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, a leader of the conservative House Freedom Caucus.

Jordan cites problems that have accompanied the statute, including rising premiums and deductibles and diminished insurance choices in the individual market in some communities. He says health care would improve if Obama’s law vanishes.
“If you start from that premise, repair shouldn’t be your mindset,” Jordan said.
Democrats say the GOP’s evolving language signals retreat. They say Republicans will threaten health care’s availability and raise rates, angering the 20 million people who gained insurance under the law and tens of millions of others who benefit from the statute’s coverage requirements.
“It puts the burden on them to come up with the so-called repairs,” said No. 2 Senate Democratic leader Richard Durbin of Illinois. “What a departure from repeal it, walk away from it and America will be a better place.”
Behind the scenes, Republicans continue shaping proposals to void Obama’s statute. Potential targets include the law’s requirement that people who don’t get coverage at work buy policies, the subsidies many of them receive and the tax increases imposed to finance its programs.
But they’ve encountered internal disagreements.
Some Republicans want to abolish the law’s broadening of Medicaid to provide health coverage to more lower-earning people, while others are from states that accepted the expansion. Most want to include language blocking federal payments to Planned Parenthood, but some don’t, and some want to let states keep Obama’s law intact.
There are disputes over whether to quickly repeal the law’s tax increases on higher-income people and the health industry, and how to provide money so people don’t abruptly lose coverage and insurance companies fearing losses don’t stop selling policies.
With insurers crafting their 2018 rate structures over the coming two months, the insurance industry’s leading trade group made its jitters clear to Congress this week. Marilyn Tavenner, president of America’s Health Insurance Plans, told Alexander’s committee that insurers need to know soon whether lawmakers will continue the federal payments that let companies reduce out-of-pocket costs for many lower-earning customers.
Losing those subsidies “would further deteriorate an already unstable market and hurt the millions of consumers who depend on these programs for their coverage,” she warned.
At a hearing Thursday before a House health subcommittee, Republicans revealed four “discussion drafts” of potential bills. They included letting insurers charge older customers higher rates and shortening the law’s 90-day grace period for consumers to pay premiums.
Another would replace the law’s unpopular individual mandate with a requirement that people maintain “continuous” coverage if they want to avoid paying more for policies.
