Ahead of Sony’s arrival at this weekend’s 2022 Tokyo Games Show, the company’s PlayStation division pushed a bunch of online news to fans over the past 24 hours. The biggest news arguably came from hands-on and eyes-on impressions of its PlayStation VR2 add-on for the PS5 console.

The new virtual reality system, slated for an “early 2023” retail launch, is now being talked about outside Sony’s careful public relations hands, and its earliest testers have offered impressions of both the hardware and some of its apparent launch software.

PSVR2: What we already knew

Thanks to Sony’s announcements from earlier this year, we know that PSVR2’s OLED display packs a pixel resolution of 4000×2040, which can run VR software in either 90 Hz or 120 Hz modes. That performance is boosted by a new foveated rendering system, which is meant to emphasize full pixel resolution where your eyes are focused and blur the parts where your eyes are not—and this, unsurprisingly, is coupled with new internal eye-tracking sensors.

Unsolved Mysteries: Netflix Announces Premiere Date for Reboot’s 6 Remaining Season 1 Episodes https://briefnews.eu/unsolved-mysteries-netflix-announces-premiere-date-for-reboots-6-remaining-season-1-episodes/ https://briefnews.eu/unsolved-mysteries-netflix-announces-premiere-date-for-reboots-6-remaining-season-1-episodes/#respond Wed, 19 Aug 2020 16:13:11 +0000 https://briefnews.eu/unsolved-mysteries-netflix-announces-premiere-date-for-reboots-6-remaining-season-1-episodes/

There’s been a crack in the case surrounding Unsolved Mysteries‘ return date: The remaining six episodes of the Netflix reboot’s first season will drop on Oct. 19.

In making the “Volume 2” announcement early Wednesday, the streamer teased that the new episodes will profile “more unexplained disappearances, tragic events, and bizarre occurrences.”

Within 24 hours of the show’s July 1 premiere, producers received nearly two dozen “credible tips” related to the cases in the first six episodes, EP Terry Dunn Meurer revealed to USA Today.

While the original series featured multiple cases in each hour-long episode, Unsolved Mysteries 2.0 focuses on just one impenetrable investigation. Another big change: The Netflix update does not have a narrator. (Robert Stack, who was the voice of the original show for most of its run, died in 2003.)

“The final decision was that it’s very difficult to fill Robert Stack’s shoes, and his trench coat,” Meurer previously told TVLine. “He’s just such an iconic voice. He’s such a signature of the show. We also wanted the actual participants in the stories, the family members and law enforcement [officers], to be more involved in telling the stories.”

The chill-inducing theme song, however, was resurrected for the reboot. “Everyone comments about the music!” Meurer declared. “That’s probably the most memorable element of the entire series.”

Report: Tesla has more than 3,300 Model 3s remaining in US inventory

On Sunday, auto blog Electrek reported that there were more than 3,300 Model 3 vehicles sitting in Tesla’s US inventory, according to an unnamed source familiar with the matter. The source added that, although Tesla has been working to sell every last vehicle before the end of December 31, when the $ 7,500 Federal Tax Credit for the company’s customers expires, it has still built up an inventory.

Ars contacted Tesla to confirm this information, but we did not receive an immediate response.

Tesla sold its 200,000th electric vehicle in Q2 2018, leaving the company with two remaining quarters to sell vehicles that would receive the full tax credit. Starting January 1, all newly delivered Teslas will only qualify for a $ 3,750 Federal Tax Credit.

Red Dead 2 Online beta FINAL countdown: Multiplayer start times for remaining players https://briefnews.eu/red-dead-2-online-beta-final-countdown-multiplayer-start-times-for-remaining-players/ https://briefnews.eu/red-dead-2-online-beta-final-countdown-multiplayer-start-times-for-remaining-players/#respond Thu, 29 Nov 2018 11:00:24 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/red-dead-2-online-beta-final-countdown-multiplayer-start-times-for-remaining-players/

The final countdown is on for the Red Dead 2 Online beta, which is about to go live for all remaining players.

The first Red Dead Redemption 2 Online beta went live for Ultimate Edition owners on November 27, followed by a second phase for day one players on November 28.

If you didn’t manage to fire up your copy of Red Dead 2 until a few days after launch – or perhaps only got around to playing this week – the final two phases of the multiplayer are about to go live.

Players who booted up Red Dead 2 between October 26 and October 29 will be able to join the beta at 1.30pm GMT today (November 29).

All remaining players will gain access to the Red Dead 2 multiplayer beta on Friday, November 30. This also has a 1.30pm start time in the UK.

You can get ready for the Red Dead Redemption 2 Online multiplayer beta by downloading the latest update.

The multiplayer beta update weighs in at a manageable 5.5GB on PS4 and Xbox One, so you should be ready in no time.

Accessing the Red Dead Redemption 2 beta is easy once you’ve downloaded the update.

“When booting up Red Dead Redemption 2 and arriving to the title menu, you will see an option in the top right of the screen to select Online,” Rockstar explains.

Not everything will be available at launch, but a wide selection of activities have been confirmed by Rockstar.

You can form a posse, set up a Camp, embark on story-based missions and battle rival gangs in PvP.

Competitive game modes include Shootout and Team Shootout, which sees players attempt to rack up the most kills in a set time.

Make it Count is Rockstar’s answer to Battle Royale, featuring a shrinking play area where players compete to be the last gunslinger standing.

Most Wanted is described as a “tactical race to the top” of a scoreboard. While eliminating other players boosts your score, it also places a higher bounty on your head.

There’s also a domination-style game mode where you get points for capturing and holding territory, as well as a Name Your Weapon mode in which players get more points for using trickier weapons.

Putin: Syria peace process a priority, but remaining terrorists must be destroyed https://briefnews.eu/putin-syria-peace-process-a-priority-but-remaining-terrorists-must-be-destroyed/ https://briefnews.eu/putin-syria-peace-process-a-priority-but-remaining-terrorists-must-be-destroyed/#respond Sat, 27 Oct 2018 17:56:43 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/putin-syria-peace-process-a-priority-but-remaining-terrorists-must-be-destroyed/

Setting up the committee to draft a new Syrian constitution is a priority, but eliminating the remaining “radical elements” in the country remains an important objective, Russia’s Vladimir Putin said at the Istanbul summit.

“While the degree of violence in Syria has been greatly reduced, elimination of all the radical elements is still an important task,” President Vladimir Putin said, speaking after the four-way Syria summit with leaders of Turkey, France and Germany. “We cannot allow the battle-hardened bandits to carry on with their illicit activities, to create “sleeper cells” in our countries, recruit supporters and spread extremist ideology and terror.”

Netanyahu announces ‘mission’ to expel remaining African migrants from Israel https://briefnews.eu/netanyahu-announces-mission-to-expel-remaining-african-migrants-from-israel/ https://briefnews.eu/netanyahu-announces-mission-to-expel-remaining-african-migrants-from-israel/#respond Thu, 04 Jan 2018 15:43:51 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/netanyahu-announces-mission-to-expel-remaining-african-migrants-from-israel/ Illegal African migrants found still living in Israel by April could face indefinite imprisonment if they don’t leave voluntarily. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has vowed to expel remaining “illegal infiltrators” from Africa.

“We have expelled about 20,000 and now the mission is to get the rest out,” Netanyahu said on Wednesday in public remarks at a cabinet meeting that approved the scheme. Some 60,000 Africans, mostly from Eritrea and Sudan, entered Israel before it erected a fence along its border with Egypt in 2013.

Since May 2015, Israel has offered migrants $ 3,500 and a free plane ticket to return home. However, starting in April, any of the estimated 38,000 illegal African migrants caught still living in the country could face incarceration.

They will still have the option of leaving Israel voluntarily after March, but the government payout for doing so will be significantly smaller. Migrants can also choose to relocate to a “third country.”

Around 1,400 migrants are currently being held in two detention centers in Israel. Under new legislation enacted last month, Israel will close its Holot detention center. The migrants who live there will face a choice: to be jailed in the Saharonim Prison or deported to Rwanda. Israel and Rwanda recently signed an agreement whereby asylum seekers can be sent there, even without their consent, causing an outcry among human-rights groups.

Eritrea and Sudan have been ravaged by war and severe economic hardship. However, Israel views people from those countries as economic migrants, and fewer than one percent of them have been granted formal asylum.

Commenting on the new policy, Netanyahu said that the presence of thousands of undocumented African migrants poses safety and security problems, particularly in Tel Aviv.

“We are keeping our promise to restore calm, a sense of personal security and law and order to the residents of south Tel Aviv and those in many other neighborhoods,” he said.

Professor Galia Sabar, president of the Ruppin Academic Center, chair of African studies at Tel Aviv University, and a scholar of immigration, told Reuters that Israel’s migrant relocation program is in violation of the UN charter.

“Eritrean and Sudanese asylum seekers cannot be returned to their country of origin according to the UN charter,” said Sabar. “But Israel assumes that since he is a black African, we can send him to another African country. But how can he cope there? He has no work, he does not speak the language, the state does not offer a social net, and he is not in a familiar or welcoming environment.”

The barrier along Israel’s border with Egypt effectively cut off the stream of migrants crossing into the country from North Africa. Referring to his own “great success,” Netanyahu voiced support in January for US President Donald Trump’s plan to build a wall along the US-Mexico border, calling it a “great idea.”

“President Trump is right. I built a wall along Israel’s southern border. It stopped all illegal immigration. Great success. Great idea,” Netanyahu wrote in a tweet. Tel Aviv later clarified that it had no position on US-Mexico relations.

Israel has also turned away asylum seekers from the war-torn Middle East. Netanyahu has previously said that Israel is too small and “lacks [the] demographic depth and geographic breadth” to take in refugees from Syria. He said that Israel must “protect [its] borders against illegal immigrants.” However, Israel’s prime minister insisted his nation was not indifferent to “human tragedy,” noting that “we conscientiously handled a thousand [people] who were wounded in the fighting in Syria, and we have helped them rebuild their lives.”
