President Donald Trump on Saturday pushed back on reports that the White House was setting a number of restrictions on the FBI investigation into sexual-misconduct allegations against Brett Kavanaugh, his Supreme Court nominee.

“NBC News incorrectly reported (as usual) that I was limiting the FBI investigation of Judge Kavanaugh, and witnesses, only to certain people,” Trump tweeted. “Actually, I want them to interview whoever they deem appropriate, at their discretion. Please correct your reporting!”

The Federal Bureau of Investigations issued a terse statement today regarding President Donald J. Trump’s allegation via Twitter that former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s private mail server had been compromised by the Chinese government. The official statement, issued by an FBI spokesperson in response to an inquiry by NBC News, simply read, “The FBI has not found any evidence the servers were compromised”—referring to the three email servers used by Clinton during and after her tenure at the State Department.

Just after midnight this morning—apparently in response to a Daily Caller article—Trump tweeted:

“Russia has never supplied any dual-purpose technologies [to Syria]. Those statements by the US are yet another fake and deception,” Yevgeny Serebrennikov, the first deputy chairman of the Russian Federal Council’s Defense Committee, said.

He said that Russia is ready for a new round of American sanctions, although he admitted that “there’s nothing good coming out of it.”

“They are tough for us, and for the US and Europe themselves they are even more damaging,” he said.

Early Saturday morning, Washington and its allies unleashed more than 100 missiles on civilian and military facilities in Syria in response to an alleged gas attack in Douma on April 7, which the West blamed on Bashar Assad’s government. Damascus and Moscow rejected claims that the government may be behind it and provided evidence that they said shows that the whole thing may have been fabricated, urging an impartial probe. Incidentally, the missile strikes occurred on the same day that the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) experts arrived in Damascus to investigate the claims. 

In her TV appearance, Haley blamed Russia for de-facto facilitating the alleged chemical attack in Douma through its support of the Syrian government. “Assad knew that Russia had its back, Assad knew that Russia would cover for them at the United Nations, and Assad got reckless, and he used it in a way that was far more aggressive,” the UN envoy said.

Washington has imposed numerous waves of sanctions against Moscow under various pretexts since 2014, including Russia’s reunifications with Crimea, its claimed involvement in the Ukrainian conflict and accusations of meddling in the 2016 US presidential election.

The latest set of restrictions was announced in early April and saw major Russian energy companies, such as En+ and EuroSibEnergo, as well as state arms distributor Rosoboronexport blacklisted. Billionaire Oleg Deripaska and the CEO of Russian energy giant Gazprom, Alexey Miller, were also among the sanctioned individuals.

We thought we knew a thing about the next-generation Porsche 911 GT3, but maybe we don’t. Last month, Automobile reported that the 992-series, track-focused 911 would switch to a 3.8-liter twin-turbo flat-six with about 550 horsepower. However, Australian outlet Drive said Porsche’s Dr. Frank-Steffen Walliser “denied media reports the next-gen 911 will feature an all-turbocharged engine line-up mated to aluminium architecture shared with VW group cousins in Audi’sR8 and the Lamborghini Huracan.”

The GT3 and GT3 RS stand as the only naturally aspirated 911s left in Porsche’s lineup. We could look for clues where there are none and consider that perhaps Walliser engaged in linguistic chicanery: maybe he meant the coming models won’t be both all-turbocharged and based on shared aluminum structures. The Automobile report says the 992-series car will stay on the 991-series platform until the mid-2020s, and Road & Track report believes the 992-series will move to the Volkswagen Group’s shared SAR architecture.

All of this feels like a long reach, though, because Walliser added that “I would like to continue with” the light, naturally aspirated engine, and that in the battle against emissions regulations, Porsche would stick with the NA flat-six “As long as we can do it.” Since Walliser is Porsche’s head of GT motorsport and GT production sports cars and led engineering on both the 918 Hybrid and new 911 GT2, he should know what he’s talking about. Walliser’s faith in the future of sports cars versus consumer trends led him to say that “the last car ever built will be a… GT3 manual,” suggesting he knows not only about how we’ll get our Porsche power, but how we’ll put that power down, too. No matter what happens with the GT3, the coming Cayman GT4 will get the 4.0-liter NA flat-six from the current GT3, as will the Boxster Spyder.

The only caveat we can think of is that we don’t know how long “as long as we can” means, and we could be two years away from the launch of the next GT3. Which feels like more reaching. We’ll might get clearer intel come October, when the new 911 faces the public at the Paris Motor Show, or perhaps sooner, when the 2019 GT3 RS debuts next month at the Geneva Motor Show.

Former Fox News Channel host Bill O’Reilly spent the weekend taking issue with a New York Times report that he’d come to a $ 32 million settlement in regard to sexually harassing another Fox News personality. One of O’Reilly’s talking points: that no one at the network had ever complained to human resources about his behavior.

“In the more than 20 years Bill O’Reilly worked at Fox News, not one complaint was filed against him with the Human Resources Department or Legal Department by a coworker, even on the anonymous hotline,” a statement O’Reilly’s team released Saturday says.

On Monday, O’Reilly’s former Fox colleague Megyn Kelly used her new hour at Today to say that is simply not true.

“O’Reilly’s suggestion that no one ever complained about his behavior is false. I know, because I complained,” Kelly said at the top of her portion of the NBC morning show.

Kelly revealed details about a never-before-released email she sent to the network’s then co-presidents Bill Shine and Jack Abernathy in November 2016. That morning, O’Reilly had been a guest on CBS This Morning, and when asked about the allegations of sexual harassment against network chief Roger Ailes Kelly leveled in her memoir, Settle for More, O’Reilly responded, “I want to be very candid here: I’m not that interested in this… I’m not interested in making my network look bad. At all. That doesn’t interest me one bit.”

Kelly’s email took issue with O’Reilly’s comments, noting that he had a “history of harassment with women.” On Monday, she told viewers that the 2016 incident — including the network’s response to it — “speaks volumes about powerful men and the roadblocks one can face in taking them on.” And though she says she was told O’Reilly had been dealt with, he then repeated similar statements on The O’Reilly Factor that evening.

“This is not unique to Fox News. Women everywhere are used to being dismissed, ignored or attacked when raising complaints about men in authority positions,” she continued Monday. “They stay silent so often out of fear. Fear of ending their careers. Fear of lawyers, yes, and fear of the media.”

Kelly’s guest on Monday’s show was Juliette Huddy, a former Fox News anchor who settled with the network after bringing her own sexual harassment allegations against O’Reilly. Huddy said she was “terrified” by what Fox News has the power to do against people who speak out against it.

During the broadcast, Kelly also read a statement from 21st Century Fox, which owns the news network:

21st Century Fox has taken concerted action to transform Fox News, including installing new leaders, overhauling management and on-air talent, expanding training and increasing the channels through which employees can report harassment or discrimination. These changes come from the top, with Lachlan and James Murdoch personally leading the effort to promote civility and respect on the job while maintaining the company’s long-held commitment to a diverse, inclusive and creative workplace.

At the end of her emotional speech at the top of the hour, Kelly said, “It gives me no pleasure to report such news about my former employer which has, absolutely, made some reforms since all of this went down.But this must stop.”

Secretary of State Rex Tillerson denied news reports that said he considered leaving the administration during an unusual press briefing on Wednesday morning. 

In a short statement, Tillerson said that a report that he had openly criticized President Donald Trump after a meeting with his national security team and Cabinet officials at the Pentagon were “petty” and characterized it as an attempt by the media and others to undermine the administration. 

“I’m not gonna deal with petty stuff like that,” he said in response to a question about an NBC News report that he called Trump a “moron.”

“The places I come from, we don’t deal with that kind of petty nonsense and it’s intended to do nothing but divide people. And I’m not going to be part of this effort to divide the administration.”

He more specifically denied reports that he had to be convinced by Vice President Mike Pence to remain in his position last summer. 

“The vice president has never had to persuade me to stay as secretary of state because I have never considered leaving this post,” he said. “There’s never been a consideration in my mind to leave.” 

Tillerson went on to praise Trump, the administration more broadly, and his colleagues at the State Department.

“This administration will keep moving forward as one team with one mission doing great things for the United States of America to make America great again,” he concluded.

Both before and after Tillerson’s press conference, Trump tweeted slamming the NBC report.

“NBC news is #FakeNews and more dishonest than even CNN,” Trump tweeted before Tillerson spoke. “They are a disgrace to good reporting. No wonder their news ratings are way down!”

After the press conference, Trump sent another tweet saying Tillerson denied the NBC report.

“The @NBCNews story has just been totally refuted by Sec. Tillerson and @VP Pence,” he tweeted. “It is #FakeNews. They should issue an apology to AMERICA!”
