The original aim was to hit speeds of speeds of 10Gbps and higher and Comcast is edging closer to that benchmark. It recently tested the last component required to offer 10G- and DOCSIS 4.0-powered multi-gigabit symmetrical speeds across its whole network. In the test, which was conducted with newly designed Full Duplex DOCSIS 4.0 (FDX) amplifiers, engineers achieved download speeds of 6Gbps and upload speeds of 4Gbps "across a complete six-amplifier cascade," according to a press release. The download speed is 50 percent faster than what Comcast was able to reach with 10G tech early last year.
"This architecture is inclusive of the vast majority of the Comcast network and is easily and quickly replicated where network environments may differ," Comcast said. "As a result, the successful test is key to delivering 10G to all Comcast customers."
This month, Comcast started rolling out 2Gbps internet service in four states. However, upload speeds are initially restricted to 200Mbps on the Gigabit 2x plan. When Comcast starts offering 10G services next year, users will theoretically be able to download and upload files at multi-gigabit speeds. The company aims to provide the 2Gbps service to more than 50 million US households by the end of 2025.

M. Evan Corcoran, a once little-known, low-profile defense lawyer, has emerged in recent months as a key figure in the ongoing Mar-a-Lago raid saga as one of Donald Trump's most recent legal hires.
Corcoran joined the embattled former president's legal team in April — Trump offered Corcoran the job without ever having met him, according to The Washington Post — and quickly entrenched himself in his client's myriad legal troubles.
But Corcoran himself has become headline fodder in the aftermath of the FBI's August 8 raid on Trump's South Florida residence, during which agents seized 11 sets of classified documents, including some marked top secret, from the former president's residence and private club.
A former federal prosecutor turned white collar criminal defense attorney, Corcoran is a partner at the Baltimore law firm Silverman, Thompson, Slutkin & White. According to his webpage on the site, Corcoran represented an insurance company in a $ 4 billion insurance coverage case stemming from the World Trade Center collapse, and defended corporate officials in the Justice Department's cartel investigations.
The lawyer apparently made a name for himself in complex business litigation and government enforcement actions before becoming ensnared in the legal woes of Trumpworld.
Corcoran joined Trump's legal team with prior experience representing bombastic figures.
Most notably, Corcoran represented Steve Bannon, former chief strategist for the Trump administration, in his contempt of Congress case. Earlier this summer, A jury in Washington, DC, found Bannon guilty of the charges against him, despite Corcoran's appeal that the case was unjustly fueled by politics.
Corcoran found himself defending Bannon after nearly taking a top role in the same US attorney's office that would later go on to prosecute the War Room host.
In early 2020, Corcoran was in line to become the second-ranking official in the federal prosecutor's office under Tim Shea, a top Trump-era Justice Department official whom then-Attorney General William Barr had appointed as the acting US attorney in Washington. Shea arrived as an outsider and turned to Corcoran, a law school friend who had served as a federal prosecutor in the office in the 1990s, for the role of first assistant US attorney, according to people familiar with the offer.
But, within months, Shea was forced out of the US attorney role amid outcry over the Justice Department leadership's interventions in the prosecutions of Roger Stone and former Trump national security advisor Michael Flynn, ultimately ruining Corcoran's would-be return to the office.
Beyond his experience with Bannon, Corcoran also waded into the world of the Capitol riot, representing the longtime Capitol police officer who was indicted on charges of obstructing the DOJ's investigation into the siege, as well as defending a Pennsylvania man who pleaded guilty last year to participating in the riot.
Now Corcoran finds himself defending perhaps the most notorious legal client the country has seen in recent history.
A person familiar with Corcoran's interaction with Trump told The Post last month that the former president offered his newfound attorney the job without ever meeting him after being introduced via a conference call by another Trump advisor.
Corcoran has since found himself embroiled in Trump's most recent legal drama and could theoretically be implicated in the mess, as he and another Trump lawyer, Christina Bobb, both communicated with the DOJ during the months-long effort by government officials to retrieve boxes of classified documents from Trump's resort.
Corcoran did not respond to Insider's request for comment.

]]>“The Things We Have to Lose” was supposed to have been followed by four more new episodes, one of which — showrunner Warren Leight told TVLine exclusively — would have seen the return of former squad member Elliot Stabler’s wife, Kathy, and their troubled son. His family members’ appearances then would have teed up the recently announced Stabler-centric SVU spinoff led by former cast member Chris Meloni.
But when production shut down in March following the coronavirus outbreak, this week’s episode was the last one completed. As far as season finales go, it’s not too shabby. The hour revisited four cases from earlier this season. Two were from “At Midnight in Manhattan”: Leon Fuller’s domestic violence arrest and subsequent incarceration, and transgender prostitute Lakira Beca’s attack by a john. Ivy Bucci, the cop’s daughter who became a plaything of the now-dead Steve Getz (“Can’t Be Held Accountable”), also showed up. (We’ll get to all of them in a moment.)
But the hour’s primary story was the start of the trial of Sir Tobias Moore, the media mogul accused of rape and sexual harassment in the Season 21 premiere. At the start of the finale, Carisi was more than ready to get into the courtroom and take Moore down. But the wealthy defendant and his legal team used every possible trick — including witness intimidation and the claim that Sir Toby was in too ill health to be tried — in order to stall the proceedings. Meanwhile, his victims started to pull their testimonies, not wanting their reputations, friends and family to be destroyed by Moore’s smear campaign and menacing tactics.
Eventually, though, it came time to pick a jury… and then Moore’s lawyer announced to the judge that her client, who was absent from the courtroom, had suffeed a “cardiac event” and was being rushed to the hospital. Carisi exploded that the move was even more of a stall, but his objection did nothing to move the trial along. Later, Rollins swung by his office to get a drink, but a dejected Dominick turned her down.
Elsewhere in the hour:
* Fin worried that a newly released Leon would violate the restraining order keeping him away from Joelle and their son, Andre. So he gave Andre a burner phone to use just in case Dad showed up… which he eventually did. Fin walked into the apartment to find the man holding Joelle at knifepoint. When he went to turn the weapon on Andre, Fin fired his gun and killed Leon.
* Lakira told Kat she saw the john who attacked her — aka Steve Getz’s former attorney, Paul Davies — and that he’d raped another transgender sex worker who eventually died from her injuries. Davies denied the allegations but when DNA linked him to the crime, Kat arrested him.
* Ivy’s drug use and disregard for her mother’s rules led Rollins to arrest her for doing cocaine at a bachelor party. But Ivy cried and said she’d set herself straight, so Rollins let her go… only for the teen to get arrested soon after for similar behavior. Off some advice from Benson, Rollins let the girl spend the night in a holding cell before vouching for her before a judge, who warned her that this was her last chance to mend her ways.
TVLine spoke with Peter Scanavino, who plays detective-turned-assistant-district-attorney Dominick Carisi, about the abrupt end to SVU‘s season, that Rollins/Carisi interlude and how he thinks the newest ADA would get along with Stabler… y’know, if they ever were to meet.
TVLINE | Sir Toby’s trial is Carisi’s first big swing on his own, right?
Well, it’s interesting because, as he states in the beginning of the episode, they’re letting him take the lead on this. I think it’s kind of a nice button, because he’s kind of proven his worth and that he is capable in this job. So it’s nice that we started with the case where he didn’t know what was going on. It was his first thing… But [the District Attorney’s office] also gives it to him. So if it goes wrong, you know, they can all wash their hands of it. He’s going to be the scapegoat if it goes south. It’s high stakes.
TVLINE | In your mind, is he raring to go? Or is he worried?
He wants to get in the ring. I think he’s really chomping at the bit, and also he’s so frustrated, in this case in particular, because of all the delays and the hurdles that he’s having to jump to get this going. Meanwhile, all the witnesses are waiting. Their lives are on hold. They’re, you know, having a hard time dealing with this… You can see at the end, he has a bit of an outburst.
TVLINE | Your season ended before it was supposed to. Do you know if the Sir Toby case would have been revisited again this season?
God, I don’t know, because it just kind of ended, you know? …But in terms of a finale, like I said before, this is kind of a nice button on the season because it is what we started with. Coincidentally, that’s how it worked out, you know?
TVLINE | Yeah. While watching, I couldn’t help but think about what the Rollins/Carisi ‘shippers are going read into that scene where she comes to his office.
In that moment, Carisi’s making a decision that however he feels or whatever, that this isn’t necessarily a good thing to pursue at the moment. It leaves him vulnerable. You know, he’s got other things to worry about now. So that was kind of a real thought moment when she comes in and says, “Let’s go get a drink.” He says no, and I don’t think it was because he had so much other work to do. [Laughs] I think he was protecting himself emotionally.
TVLINE | Did you see any of the scripts for the episodes that got scrapped?
Yeah, I saw one, and we shot, like, one day of it, and then that was it. God, you know, even thinking back… Right now, I’m thinking, “I wonder what that show was about?” It’s like a different world. It’s a different life. It’s so strange to watch. I watched the episode last week, and it was almost as if it was a completely different version of myself talking from this other world that doesn’t exist anymore. You know what I mean? It’s so strange. So strange.
TVLINE | I know exactly what you mean. So Warren had said that Stabler’s wife and son were going to show up toward the end of the season and set up the new Stabler spinoff. Given what you know about the character of Elliot Stabler, how do you think Carisi and Stabler would get along, if and when they ever meet?
God, I don’t know. [Laughs] You know what I mean? I don’t know. God, I never even thought about it. How would they get along? I guess I’d like to think they’d get along pretty well, but [Stabler is] obviously a bit cantankerous and can be kind of gruff. And I think Carisi’s not necessarily like that at all, but I also don’t think he responds well to that type of personality. So maybe there would be some tension there.

Vice Principals alum Walton Goggins is wading back into comedic waters, having nabbed the lead role in CBS’ pilot The Unicorn.
Inspired by a true story, The Unicorn centers on a recent widower and devoted father to two adolescent girls (Goggins) who finds himself at sea after his wife’s death. When Goggins’ big-hearted character is persuaded by friends to start dating again, he is shocked to discover he’s kind of a hot commodity — but he has no idea what he’s doing.
The single-camera project (formerly a multi-cam) hails from Bill Martin and Mike Schiff, who are currently co-executive-producers on the CBS sitcom Fam. They will serve as co-writers and co-EPs on The Unicorn, as well.
Goggins’ extensive TV résumé also includes roles on Justified, Sons of Anarchy and, more recently, The Big Bang Theory and History’s Six.
The Unicorn joins several comedy pilots currently in contention at CBS, along with the Patricia Heaton vehicle Carol’s Second Act and the Ken Jeong-led Emperor of Malibu, among others. (Check out our 2019 Pilot Guide to see the full list of projects.)

Police have yet to completely wrap their heads around modern iPhones like the X and XS, and that’s clearer than ever thanks to a leak. Motherboard has obtained a presentation slide from forensics company Elcomsoft telling law enforcement to avoid looking at iPhones with Face ID. If they gaze at it too many times (five), the company said, they risk being locked out much like Apple’s Craig Federighi was during the iPhone X launch event. They’d then have to enter a passcode that they likely can’t obtain under the US Constitution’s Fifth Amendment, which protects suspects from having to provide self-incriminating testimony.
There are ways around this system, whether or not they’re ethically sound — the FBI recently forced a suspect to unlock his iPhone X using Face ID. Some warrants can explicitly offer permission to use face unlocking. Many investigators won’t know about the alternatives, though, and there won’t always be an option to use the accused person’s face. There’s no guarantee other countries will allow forced face recognition, either.
The slide also underscores the challenge face recognition poses for investigators, especially when there’s no fingerprint fallback as with newer iPhones. Where it’s easy to avoid accidentally triggering a fingerprint reader, you can inadvertently set off a system like Face ID just by raising or tapping the screen. Like it or not, officers will have to be much more delicate when they want access to recent handsets — especially when they aren’t guaranteed wired access.

It’s almost the midterm elections in the US, and that means disinformation campaigns could be working overtime. Social networks have been introducing new features, rolling out changes and even asking the government for help to fight off trolls and fake news disseminators. Twitter, for instance, has expanded its ability to spot and remove fake accounts. In a post detailing its elections integrity work, the microblogging platform said it may now delete “fake accounts engaged in a variety of emergent, malicious behaviors.”
Going forward, it will take several new factors into account when determining which users are fake, including the use of a stock or a stolen avatar. The use of stolen profile bios and putting intentionally misleading information, such as location, in profiles will also make a user look suspicious in Twitter’s eyes.
The platform will also take action against accounts that deliberately mimic or were clearly created to replace older accounts that were previously suspended for violating its rules. Further, it will also take action against users who claim responsibility for a hack, who threaten to hack specific people and who announce incentives for other people to hack specific people and accounts.
According to Twitter’s report, it already removed around 50 accounts pretending to be members of various state Republican parties. Back in August, it also banned 770 accounts from Iran that were part of a coordinated attempt to spread disinformation on the website. It said it’s been implementing proactive detections and enforcements, which reduced the spam-related reports it’s been receiving, and is also making it harder for sketchy developers to access its API.
Still, the company knows those aren’t enough. It needs to be able to strike down fake accounts as fast as they’re created, so it’s also building proprietary systems that can identify and delete “ban evaders at speed and scale.” Twitter will also proactively send nominees reminders to switch on two-factor authentication for their protection. It will also offer them support via an elections-specific portal, which will allow the company to address their concerns (and their fake news/account reports) as soon as possible.

HTC can’t catch a break. The company has announced that in June its sales fell “nearly 68 percent,” according to Reuters. Earlier this week, the company revealed it would cull some 1,500 employees from its Taiwan manufacturing division in its chase for profitability. The last several years haven’t been kind to the company, rife with reorganizations (including one earlier this year), key staff members resigning and desperate efforts to put money in the bank by seemingly any means possible — including selling its Pixel team to Google for $ 1.1 billion.
Recently, the company combined its virtual reality and mobile divisions in an effort to refocus. Given this week’s news, and the Pixel sale as evidence, it wouldn’t be surprising if, in a last-ditch effort to return to profitability, HTC sold its Vive team to Valve. The two worked closely on the device, and it’s not like Valve’s coffers will run dry anytime soon.
Where would that leave HTC though, like BlackBerry? Vive is the company’s last stand, from the looks of it, and selling it off sounds like a Hail Mary. More than that, pulling a BlackBerry only works if the handsets HTC produces capture the market, something that hasn’t happened in years. And unlike BlackBerry’s keyboards, HTC doesn’t have one defining feature, let alone two (a reputation for enterprise-grade security). The new reduction in headcount probably won’t have the same financial benefits of the Pixel sale, but we’ll have to wait for HTC’s next earnings report to know for sure.

Meghan Markle has made a big impact on the British royals already.
She made history in a number of ways when she married Prince Harry.
She was the oldest royal bride, the first mixed-race royal bride and the first outspokenly feminist woman to marry into the family.
And according to a body language expert Meghan is already beating Kate when it comes to her performance at some public appearances.
Judi James analysed Meghan and Kate Middleton when they appeared together at their first joint public engagement.
Describing the two women at the Royal Foundation Forum in February, Judi said: “When the two women appeared on stage together to promote their charity this mirroring was intense.”
Mirroring is when a person subconsciously imitates someone else.
It can indicate rapport or admiration between individuals.
“Meghan was ‘twinning’ herself to Kate by using the same, almost balletic palm-up hand in her lap while the other hand came up in a face-concealing cut-off as both women shared a giggle over a comment,” Judi added.
“Both sets of hands fell into a hand clasp gesture as they listened to Harry talking.”
How did the new Duchess of Sussex manage to “out-royal” Kate Middleton, despite her seven years of experience?
Judi said: “In some ways Meghan ‘out-royaled’ Kate by crossing her legs at the ankle in the demure style of the older royals while Kate sat using a more contemporary leg cross.
“Both women had their legs crossed towards one another though, which was a subtle signal of bonding.”
Are Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton friends?
According to Judi Meghan has been imitating Kate’s wardrobe in bid to fit in with the royals.
Judi said: “Meghan’s mirroring of Kate currently involves wardrobe and body language mimicry and this reflects a degree of submission to show a desire for rapport and team acceptance.”
Meghan Markle and the Queen have been out together twice recently, sparking rumours that they are getting close.
But what does their body language say about them?
Meghan shows her deference to Her Majesty in the images, Judi claims.
One image shows the former-actress smiling down at the Queen with affection.
In his drive to liberalize Argentina’s energy markets, President Mauricio Macri phased out consumer subsidies and increased tariffs. Local oil prices rose and converged late last year with those of international crude, providing an important stimulus for companies in Vaca Muerta, Argentina’s star investment attraction. But the government has now capped the price at which companies producing oil in Argentina can sell to refineries, along with the price of petrol at the pump, to shield consumers from rising global oil prices and prevent inflation soaring even further.
If there’s one thing markets hate, it is uncertainty.
Anuj Sharma, Phoenix Global Resources
Companies now must sell at prices considerably below the international level, which last week was above $ 77 a barrel for Brent crude oil, the global benchmark. This, as well as the devaluation of the peso, is hitting profitability and forcing companies to reassess their plans in Vaca Muerta.
“Suddenly from moving in the right direction, it feels like the country is taking a step back,” says Anuj Sharma, chief executive of Phoenix Global Resources, a midsize oil company investing in Vaca Muerta. “If there’s one thing markets hate, it is uncertainty. It makes planning very difficult.” He added that it was hard to plan more than three to five months ahead.
As little as four years ago, the state oil company YPF estimated that the break-even oil price for wells in Vaca Muerta to be economically viable was about $ 80 a barrel. Wood Mackenzie, an energy consultant, now estimates the break-even price to be $ 56 a barrel. After the first well began producing commercially in 2013, Vaca Muerta is now producing 120,000 barrels a day, or more than 10 percent of national production.
“Just five years ago Vaca Muerta was a dream. Now it is starting to become a reality. It is at an inflection point where you can actually make money drilling it,” says one senior executive whose company is investing in Vaca Muerta. “You can argue that at $ 67, $ 68 a barrel you can make more than the break-even price, but you are not obliged to drill Vaca Muerta. Elsewhere you get $ 75 or even higher if oil prices go up … if there’s no [price] visibility, it’s very hard to deploy billions into Vaca Muerta.”

With Javier Iguacel replacing Juan José Aranguren as energy minister as part of a shake-up last month, the government’s plans remain unclear. Aranguren, a former executive at Royal Dutch Shell, was widely applauded by the private sector for increasing the tariffs that consumers pay for electricity and natural gas, which enabled the government to cut subsidies in its effort to rein in the fiscal deficit. But he was unpopular with voters.
How Iguacel, a petroleum engineer who also has a private sector background, proceeds depends on a precarious political scenario for Macri, who is seeking re-election next year. Tariff hikes — as well as a $ 50 billion bailout from the International Monetary Fund in response to the currency crisis — was one of the main motives for trade unions in late June holding their third national strike since Macri took power.
Freezing prices at petrol pumps may go some way to keeping voters happy, even if it is debatable what impact it might have on inflation, which is running at more than 25 percent annually. But international companies are not keen on effectively financing Macri’s “gradualist” economic reform program, which seeks to cushion the impact of austerity on poorer Argentines.
“If prices remain uncoupled, that would be negative. Without doubt, investment would fall, production too, and we would have to import more,” says Daniel Gerold, an energy consultant in Buenos Aires. “If it becomes clear that prices do not follow clear rules or the law is not respected, even if costs are low in Vaca Muerta, investments are not going to come.”
Nevertheless, analysts are broadly optimistic about the prospects for Vaca Muerta, which has seen a sharp fall in costs in recent years, while production has jumped dramatically. Argentina might even have an oversupply of natural gas this summer, when demand is lower, says Amanda Kupchella, an analyst at Wood Mackenzie.
“There are a lot of things that just come with the territory in Argentina — like price controls, working with unions and so on. They are things that operators are used to dealing with,” says Kupchella. “Productivity in Vaca Muerta is so good that it doesn’t seem to be keeping [investors] away … wells just seem to be getting better and better.”
Alejandro Bulgheroni, chairman of Pan American Energy Group, expects that in two to three years it will be as cheap to drill wells in Vaca Muerta as it is in the U.S.
“Let’s hope this is resolved and that we return to international prices,” says Bulgheroni. Although it was a “difficult moment,” he recognizes that under this government, negotiations have always ended in mutual agreements, with no impositions. “We have lived through much worse times,” he says.
