A vehicle registered to Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver DeSean Jackson was involved in a single-car accident on Sunday night, according to police reports reviewed by NFL.com.
The vehicle, a 2016 Chevy Silverado, was found abandoned after it had struck a tree. Inside the vehicle, police reportedly found two hollow-point bullets, which are legal in Florida, as well as a small amount of marijuana that would constitute a misdemeanor in the state.
The report from NFL.com also says Jackson initially declined to cooperate with police, but later gave officers the name of the alleged driver.
A representative for Jackson made a statement on the matter:
“It was a friend of DeSean’s who borrowed his car while he was out of town,” Denise White, a representative for Jackson, said. “None of what was in the car was his obviously. He’s dealing with the person that was using it without his knowledge privately. The incident is being handled.”
Buccaneers general manager Jason Licht also released a statement, saying, “We are aware of a one-car accident involving a vehicle registered to DeSean Jackson on the night of Dec. 24. Our understanding is that DeSean has been in contact with authorities and is cooperating with the investigation.”
Jackson did not play in the Buccaneers Week 16 matchup against the Panthers on Sunday due to an injury. It is unclear whether he will play in Tampa Bay’s season finale on Sunday against the Saints.

One of the breakout players on the breakout Jacksonville Jaguars squad went to extremes to protect his uncertain future.
According to Phillip Heilman of Jacksonville.com, when Jaydon Micken signed with the Jaguars practice squad in September after being cut by the Oakland Raiders weeks prior, he decided to live out of his car
Mickes was unsure how long he’d be in Jacksonville and wanted to save money instead of paying for temporary housing.
“If you’re on a month or year lease, you can’t break it,” Mickens told Heilman. “I didn’t know how long I was going to be here. You can be here for two weeks and then gone tomorrow.”
According to Heilman, Mickens estimated that he made about $ 6,500 in weekly checks while on the practice squad and he wanted to save that money in case he needed it later on.
He and teammate Larry Pickard both would get in their cars at the end of the day and find a place to park and sleep — sometimes the Jaguars’ EverBank Stadium or a hotel parking lot. The next day they would go yp the facilities to go in the hot or cold tub and get breakfast before team meetings and practice. He never told teammates or staff about his living situation so as not to be a distraction.
Mickens was promoted to the full-time squad in Week 7 and now makes the rookie minimum of about $ 465,000. The promotion has paid off for the Jaguars — Mickens has served as one of the best punt returners in the NFL. He has one touchdown on the year and his 13.1 yard average return is second best in the NFL. In the Jagaurs’ Week 15 win over the Houston Texans, Mickens also caught five passes for 72 yards and two touchdowns.
Punt returning is one of the more difficult jobs in the NFL, and Mickens’ teammates respect him for it. Right guard A.J. Cann told Heilman: “Sometimes I say, man, I could do a punt return. But at the same time, you’ve got to look up at the ball, look up at the coverage, focus on what you have to do. It takes a special person to do that, and he’s a special guy.”
According to Heilman, Mickens and Pinkard bought a townhouse in Jacksonville and are no longer living out of their cars.
With the spark he’s provided for the 10-4 Jaguars, Mickens clearly plans to be around for a while.

The Atlanta Falcons let wide receiver Mohamed Sanu try his hand at quarterback on Sunday, and it appeared to work out.
In the second quarter, Sanu took the snap instead of Matt Ryan and connected on a deep, 51-yard touchdown to fellow receiver Julio Jones.
The throw was almost perfectly placed, falling right into Jones’ hands as he ran into the end zone.

The touchdown catch was just Jones’ second of the year, but Sanu has shown off his arm before. He had two touchdown passes with the Cincinnati Bengals.

It couldn’t have been more quintessentially Canadian. One of those “only in the Canadian Football League” moments played out in downtown Toronto on Saturday afternoon.
Throughout the 2017 CFL season, Saskatchewan Roughriders receiver Duron Carter has spent hours watching film, perfecting his game. Normally it’s of the football game from the previous week, breaking down what happened and how he can be better.
But on Saturday afternoon in the big city, less than 24 hours before the biggest game of the season to date, Carter took in a film of a different kind, alongside more than 20 Roughriders fans.
Earlier this week Carter took to Twitter, saying he wanted to arrange a movie night for Roughriders fans the day before the CFL East final. He kept updating the progress of his planning throughout the week, complete with asking the fans if they preferred a 1 p.m. or 4 p.m. matinee. To top it off, Carter told the fans he would pick up the bill.
The Cineplex Cinema Varsity is the location!!! We have meetings and a early game so we have a choice of 1pm or 4pm on Saturday! Vote now!!
At around 3:45 p.m. ET, Carter rolled up the escalator into the lounge of the Cineplex Cinema Varsity location as 24 green-clad Riders fans cheered and chanted “Go Riders Go!”

“Rider Nation embraces me for who I am,” Carter said. “Usually people are writing articles about what I shouldn’t be doing. There’s none of that in Regina. It’s about football and winning. And that’s what I’m about.”
Carter shook the hands of the fans as he counted them all. Then he went to the register to find out the total: $ 324. He counted out mostly $ 50 bills and handed them over to the cashier.

“I’m glad it’s this many,” he laughed. “If it was anymore I would have had to go to the bank and sign my name. It’s a good turnout. We’re about to see a great movie.”
The movie they all watched? Justice League.
“Let’s do this. Enjoy the show everyone,” Carter told the crowd of “Rider Priders” as they followed him into the theatre.
Most of the 24 people who showed up from the movie were from Saskatchewan, die-hards who travelled to Toronto to take in the game on Sunday.

Cheryl Rous is from the small town of Chamberlain, Sask., about 45 minutes away from Regina. She flew into Toronto with her husband and two sisters on Friday morning. When Rous and her crew found out about the movie matinee with Carter online, they made immediate plans to attend.
“This is amazing,” Rous said. “We love him. We love his quirky ways. We just love him.”
This is the first game all year Rous is attending live. She says they watch all the games on T.V., but after the Roughriders beat the Ottawa Redblacks last Sunday in the Eastern semifinal, they made plans the next morning to be in Toronto this weekend.
“We booked our tickets, flights and hotel immediately,” Rous said.
As for getting to watch a movie the day before the big game with one of her favourite receivers, Rous says it’s the perfect way to countdown to kickoff.
“What a great way to relax,” she said. “It’s better than sitting in a bar being nervous before the game.”
The Toronto Argonauts host the Saskatchewan Roughriders in the CFL East final on Sunday. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. ET.
Carter is hoping he gets another chance to watch a film or two this season. It would mean he and the Roughriders were preparing for the Grey Cup.

Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver A.J. Green was ejected from Sunday’s game against the Jacksonville Jaguars after punching Jaguars defensive back Jalen Ramsey several times after a play.
Just before the end of the first half, Ramsey shoved Green as the two were walking back to the line of scrimmage. Green responded by grabbing Ramsey by the neck and throwing him to the ground. Green then threw multiple punches at Ramsey before the two were separated.
While Green’s ejection was an obvious one, Ramsey was also removed from the game leaving many fans in confusion as to what else might have happened between the two players.

Apple CarPlay has finally gone wireless. After debuting the technology at CES this year, Alpine is now shipping the iLX-107, the first CarPlay receiver with support for wireless connectivity. And considering the tech world’s general disdain for wires and cables, it’s a surprise it’s taken this long to reach the aftermarket.
The receiver (compatible with the iPhone 5 and later) lets CarPlay be accessed through the touchscreen and Siri voice control. You’ll get the full CarPlay experience: make calls, read texts, choose music and get real-time traffic updates. Plus, depending on your car you’ll get customized vehicle information too, such as park assist. There’s no longer any need for the proverbial Lightning cable: simply connect your phone via WiFi or Bluetooth.
While CarPlay receivers have been kicking around for a while, this is the first to support wireless connectivity — a function that began development in 2015 but didn’t find an infotainment home until late 2016 when it was added to the 2017 BMW 5 Series Sedan.
Despite growing demand for such systems, very few manufacturers have the tech built into their cars, so it’s still very much a novelty. Perhaps this is the argument for the iLX-107’s eye-watering $ 900 price tag.

The body of a man found in the Maumee River in Indiana on Wednesday has been identified by local authorities as that of former Bills wide receiver James Hardy. He was 31.
Hardy had been reported missing on May 30th. The coroner’s office has yet to announce a cause of death.
Hardy was a standout high school athlete growing up in Indiana, playing football and basketball at Elmhurst High School. After graduating, he attended Indiana University, and was a two-sport athlete his freshman year before quitting basketball in order to better focus on football. Hardy still holds the Hoosier receiving records for career receptions, yards, and touchdowns.

Cooper Kupp jets up the sideline, stutter-steps to juke the cornerback and then slants toward the middle of the field. The pass is behind him — heading straight toward a defender’s chest, in fact. But no matter: Kupp leaps into the air, spins backward and snags the ball with his left hand. Kupp palms the ball’s tip precariously until he cradles it into his chest and tumbles to the ground. It’s just one of the miracles Kupp’s produced on his way to smashing all-time receiving records in Division I football for career yards, receptions and touchdowns.
But few fans can say they have seen that play, or any of Kupp’s more miraculous plays. Kupp’s games don’t see the light of national broadcast because he plays in college football’s overlooked flyover country: the FCS. There, he’s a huge fish in a small pond. Standing at 6-foot-2 and 215 pounds, 23-year-old Kupp is pegged as a second or third rounder in the NFL draft that starts on April 27. Kupp’s second-seeded Eastern Washington starts in the FCS playoffs this Saturday in a playoff run that could culminate in a showdown at the FCS championship game on January 7. Some compare Kupp to the Arizona Cardinals’ Larry Fitzgerald (great hands and unrivaled professionalism). To others, Kupp is the Seattle Seahawks Hall of Famer Steve Largent because he runs crisp routes and never drops balls. His wide receivers coach at EWU, Nick Edwards, makes perhaps the most audacious of comparisons: San Francisco 49ers Hall of Famer Jerry Rice, aka the G.O.A.T. — and also a product of an overlooked flyover school. “Just the way he works, the way he sets guys up,” says Edwards. “Jerry wasn’t a blazer, and Cooper’s not a blazer. He’s just going to do everything right.”
NFL stars hailing from the FCS — the Football Championship Subdivision, one step below (and separated from) the top college football division — are sprinkled throughout league history. For every Jerry Rice, who was selected in the first round out of FCS school Mississippi Valley State, there are future stars from FCS schools who are overlooked, underrated bargains on draft day. “It’s pretty awesome to study the greatest of all time, Jerry Rice, and remember he came out of Mississippi Valley State, a small school. I just believe in my ability and that God has plan for me,” Kupp says. Other FCS success stories include Dallas Cowboys Pro Bowl quarterback Tony Romo, who went undrafted out of Eastern Illinois, and the Arizona Cardinals’ David Johnson, who was picked in the third round out of Northern Iowa. But finding these diamonds in the rough takes great scouting and lucky timing. There are 125 FCS schools and of the 253 players selected in the 2016 draft, only 20 of them — less than 10 percent — came from those 125 schools. In comparison, Ohio State alone saw 12 of its players picked in 2016.
So how does a player like Kupp go from being completely overlooked by Division I schools to being mentioned in the same breath as football legends? The answer’s actually pretty simple: The Kupp family gets its growth spurts late.

Unless college recruiters looked deep into his gene pool, they would have had no idea Kupp would go from a 5-foot-6, bony 145 pounds early in high school to today’s sturdy frame. His grandfather, Jake Kupp, an NFL offensive lineman for a decade and his father, Craig Kupp, a drafted quarterback, were the same way. His family knew the struggles of being the smallest kid on the football field or the basketball court could someday turn into his greatest gift. “Those tough times eventually came to help him,” Cooper’s grandfather told OZY.
The tough times started in junior high. Suddenly, boys who’d entered adolescence were head and shoulders above young Cooper. One weekend, his father drove him to a basketball tournament at a Yakima middle school. It was one of the few times Cooper, famous for his ability to focus — he’d get a model plane kit on Christmas morning, and by that evening the plane was assembled and painted — didn’t seem to care. Other boys were already sprouting hair on their lips, and Cooper looked defeated and discouraged, a little kid next to blossoming young men.
On the 25-minute drive home, his father launched into a tough-love soliloquy. “I didn’t pull any punches,” Craig Kupp told OZY. “It was this realization that he’s undersized and he’ll have to deal with that, and he’ll just have to work really hard. I told him, ‘You’ve got good genes. Your body will be there someday. And if you’ve mastered the fundamentals, you’ll leapfrog everybody.’” His dad allowed him two more games to quit being a wallflower or he would pull Cooper off the team. The very next game, Cooper’s dad saw the difference: It was night and day. Instead of passively trying to stay out of the way of other players, Cooper was competing on both ends of the court, showing the hustle and the winning, team-first mind-set that marks his attitude today. Even now, Kupp credits that sixth-grade conversation with his father for his David-over-Goliath mentality that has NFL scouts pegging him as a legitimate NFL wide receiver and one of the first FCS players to be taken in the 2017 draft.
Edwards noticed Kupp’s grittiness on his recruiting visit. Edwards was a college senior that season, and while many recruits take their visits as a chance to party with college kids, Kupp stayed with him on the visit. At Edwards’ house, they peaceably watched a Kevin Hart stand-up show on DVD. Then Edwards told Kupp about the JUGS football passing machine at the football facility. Kupp’s eyes lit up. Most high school students would be impressed by a frat party; Kupp was impressed that Edwards knew the janitor, and that the janitor would let them into the facility at 10 o’clock on a Saturday night. The two competed to catch the most balls. “Old-school coaches like to say, ‘Find me a guy that will never drop the ball.’” Edwards says and Kupp was that guy.
Kupp is the one few see coming — and he’s used that to his advantage every time. “The best thing a receiver can do is believe he’s never a finished product,” Kupp says.

External Bluetooth transmitters and receivers with 3.5mm jacks have been around for years, but Etekcity’s new model raises the bar with support for optical (SPDIF) audio.
The little box can both receive and transmit Bluetooth signals, and includes SPDIF in and out ports to connect it to your TV or high-end audio equipment. Plus, it can even pair to two pairs of headphones simultaneously when transmitting, which would allow two people to, say, listen to the same TV over headphones to avoid waking up someone in the next room.
