Sonos Play 3Amazon

  • Sonos’ speakers are known for their audio quality and multi-speaker connectivity, but they rarely go on sale.
  • Right now, you can save $ 50 on a refurbished Play:3 speaker directly from Sonos.
  • The Play:3 is a mid-sized speaker that plays music in stereo when it’s horizontal and in mono when it’s placed vertically. You can play tunes from your local library or streaming services.
  • Like all Sonos speakers, the Play:3 can stand as part of a bigger Sonos system, which lets you play the same song on several speakers at once, or control what’s getting played on each individually.
  • Each refurbished Sonos speaker is tested and certified, and comes with a 45-day money back guarantee, so there’s no reason not to take advantage of this deal.

Sonos’ speakers are known for many things: great audio quality, compatibility with every major streaming service, and multi-speaker connectivity are three of the big ones. And someone who’s tried both the Sonos Play:1 and Sonos ONE speakers for himself, I completely understand why people like them so much.

  • Goldman Sachs‘ commodity strategists are reiterating their bullish call on commodities.
  • “The strategic case for owning commodities has rarely been stronger,” Jeffrey Currie, Goldman’s head of global commodity research, said in a note on Tuesday.

Goldman Sachs is doubling down on its bullish bet on commodities.

The firm’s commodity strategists reiterated their call in early February, just before the stock market got rocked by concerns about inflation and higher interest rates.

Meghan Markle SIZZLES wearing tiny dress in rarely seen photos from early film https://briefnews.eu/meghan-markle-sizzles-wearing-tiny-dress-in-rarely-seen-photos-from-early-film/ https://briefnews.eu/meghan-markle-sizzles-wearing-tiny-dress-in-rarely-seen-photos-from-early-film/#respond Sat, 31 Mar 2018 14:25:03 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/meghan-markle-sizzles-wearing-tiny-dress-in-rarely-seen-photos-from-early-film/

Meghan Markle, 36, will soon be a full-time royal, attending events alongside husband-to-be Prince Harry, 33.

But previous to her whirlwind romance with a Prince, Meghan was a working actress who starred in a string of films before hitting the big time with legal drama Suits.

Now sills from one of these movies, Random Encounters, have surfaced, and they show exactly why Prince Harry was attracted to the star.

In the film, released in 2013, Meghan plays party girl Mindy. The plot sees her navigating the notoriously fickle dating world in LA.

One scene shows Meghan wearing a very skimpy black dress, with a deep-v that shows plenty of décolletage.

Over the top, Meghan has on a seductive pink silk dressing gown, worn open to show off the dress.

In another scene, Meghan looks pretty in a yellow ruffled party dress, her hair worn in loose curls over her shoulders.

A co-star from the film, Abby Wathen, spoke out about her friendship with the royal bride for ITV documentary ‘Truly, Madly, Deeply’ last year.

Speaking about Meghan, Abby revealed her steely ambition, and said: “We became instant friends. She always knew she would be successful, she just…knew it. She knows what she wants and she gets it.

“She told me that she had booked for a pilot for immediately after Random Encounters ended.” This pilot went on to be hit TV show Suits.

The duo bonded over something else too. Abby said: “Meghan and I bonded because I was married and she was getting married. I was invited to her wedding but I couldn’t go. Then we both went through divorce, so we bonded on that too.

“Meghan isn’t one of these people that dwells on…I was destroyed, but she was empowered. She took her power back. It wasn’t the right relationship for her, so she moved on.”

Meghan’s days of acting in small films are long gone, and she is now focusing on her May wedding.

Some are wondering if she will become British after she weds Prince Harry, or if she will keep dual citizenship.

Royal expert Kelly Lynch and managing editor of Daily Break told Express.co.uk: “I do believe that Meghan will be entitled to retain her US passport and apply for dual citizenship.”

Harry’s communications secretary has spoken about Meghan’s immigration status, and said she would be “compliant with immigration requirements at all times”.

He continued: “I can also say she intends to become a UK citizen and will go through the process of that, which some of you may know takes a number of years.”

Meghan could hold to her US nationality if she wished with dual citizenship.

The 36-year-old forged a successful career in the States, and was raised in Hollywood by her American parents. She may therefore feel the desire to hang on to her American roots.

If Meghan holds on to her American citizenship her children will be entitled to dual citizenship – a first for the UK monarchy.

Australia, Israel, Japan, and South Korea rarely have mass shootings — and the reasons are clear https://briefnews.eu/australia-israel-japan-and-south-korea-rarely-have-mass-shootings-and-the-reasons-are-clear/ https://briefnews.eu/australia-israel-japan-and-south-korea-rarely-have-mass-shootings-and-the-reasons-are-clear/#respond Thu, 22 Feb 2018 07:37:21 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/australia-israel-japan-and-south-korea-rarely-have-mass-shootings-and-the-reasons-are-clear/ GettyImages 182976251

  • While mass shootings have increased in regularity in the US, other countries have found ways to prevent them.
  • Places like South Korea, Israel, Australia, and Japan simply require people to meet a number of rigorous standards before they can gain access to firearms.
  • In Australia’s case, its efforts mean there have been no catastrophic mass shootings by a single gunman since its worst-ever massacre in 1996.

In 1996, Australia saw its worst-ever shooting by a single gunman. In the Port Arthur massacre, 35 people were killed and a further 23 were injured.

The Prime Minister at the time, John Howard, had been in power for just six weeks but almost immediately began strengthening gun control.

Trump and Kim Jong Un rarely mention the name of South Korea’s President — this is why https://briefnews.eu/trump-and-kim-jong-un-rarely-mention-the-name-of-south-koreas-president-this-is-why/ https://briefnews.eu/trump-and-kim-jong-un-rarely-mention-the-name-of-south-koreas-president-this-is-why/#respond Wed, 17 Jan 2018 06:12:35 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/trump-and-kim-jong-un-rarely-mention-the-name-of-south-koreas-president-this-is-why/ GettyImages 881258254

South Korea’s president is named Moon Jae-in.

But you’ll rarely hear that name come from US President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.

In a recent interview with The Wall Street Journal, which was published in full last week, Trump never referred to Moon by name. Instead Trump named the leaders of surrounding Asian countries, including Japan, China, and North Korea — despite being prompted by the interviewer.

WSJ: You think North Korea is trying to drive a wedge between the two countries, between you and President Moon?

Mr. Trump: I’ll let you know in—within the next 12 months, OK, Mike?

WSJ: Sure.

Mr. Trump: … But I’ll tell you, you know, when you talk about driving a wedge, we also have a thing called trade. And South Korea—brilliantly makes—we have a trade deficit with South Korea of $ 31 billion a year. That’s a pretty strong bargaining chip to me.

With that being said, [China’s] President Xi has been extremely generous with what he’s said, I like him a lot. I have a great relationship with him, as you know I have a great relationship with Prime Minister Abe of Japan and I probably have a very good relationship with Kim Jong Un of North Korea.

But Trump is not alone in his aversion to using Moon’s name.

Despite repeated personal attacks on Trump, including calling him a dotard, Kim Jong Un and North Korean state media avoid criticizing Moon directly.

When North Korea’s state-run news agency, KCNA, recently slammed Moon for giving Trump praise for inter-Korea talks, it appeared to do so without using Moon’s name. Instead it repeatedly referred to the “South Korean chief executive.”

According to Robert Carlin, a visiting fellow at Stanford’s Center for International Security and Cooperation, since Moon took office last year the North has never mentioned his name when critiquing South Korea.

Here’s why experts think this is happening — for reasons both good and bad.

Trump isn’t good friends with Moon

There’s a number of potential reasons why Trump tends to skip over Moon, including that the two just aren’t good friends.

Trump has been overt in his preference for Japan’s Shinzo Abe over Moon. The two have played golf, talked more than a dozen times, and while on his tour of Asia Trump cut short his time in South Korea to spend more time in Japan. And in repeated speeches in Asia, Trump has referred to Abe by the very chummy ‘Shinzo’ while always sticking with ‘President Moon.’

But there may be another factor at play.

The US, and Trump in particular, has a history of ‘Korea Passing’ — bypassing South Korea when it come to dealing with issues on the Korean Peninsula — which irks both South Korean politicians and media.

Trump appears to have yet again committed this diplomatic faux pas by answering a question on North Korea with praise for a number of leaders in Asia, not inclusive of Moon.

In comparison, Kim’s tendency to avoid naming Moon appears to be part of an attempt to warm relations between North and South Korea.

According to Carlin, who was speaking at a briefing for 38 North, North Korea’s restraint in naming and attacking Moon over the last year indicates the country was knowingly trying to keep the door open for talks.

It’s a strategy that appears to have worked.

North and South Korea conducted official talks for the first time in more than two years last week, leading to hopes that the slight thaw in tensions will continue.

Countries rarely default on their debts https://briefnews.eu/countries-rarely-default-on-their-debts/ https://briefnews.eu/countries-rarely-default-on-their-debts/#respond Wed, 20 Dec 2017 02:47:21 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/countries-rarely-default-on-their-debts/

VENEZUELA is an unusual country. It is home to the world’s largest reserves of oil and its highest rate of inflation. It is known for its unusual number of beauty queens and its frightening rate of murders. Its bitterest foe, America, is also its biggest customer, buying a third of its exports.

In defaulting on its sovereign bonds last month (it failed to pay interest on two dollar-denominated bonds by the end of a grace period on November 13th), Venezuela is also increasingly unusual. The number of governments in default to private creditors fell last year to its lowest level since 1977, according to the Bank of Canada’s database. Of the 131 sovereigns tracked by S&P Global, a rating agency, Mozambique is the only other country in default, having missed payments on its Eurobond (and failed to make good on guaranteed loans to two state-owned enterprises). Walter Wriston, a former chairman of Citibank, earned ridicule for once declaring that “countries don’t go bust”. But they don’t much…

Many women adopt certain routines in order to stay alert and feel safe. These habits — which most men may be unaware of or rarely think about — can become common rituals, especially on a night out.

To better understand how universal these habits are, BuzzFeed Spain surveyed female friends and readers for the biggest things they do on a typical night out to feel safe. Of course, this isn’t a definitive list — instead, we encourage readers to think of it more as a starting point for conversation about the routines women all over the world maintain and what they have in common.

The Truth About Slim People review: We rarely see the truth https://briefnews.eu/the-truth-about-slim-people-review-we-rarely-see-the-truth/ https://briefnews.eu/the-truth-about-slim-people-review-we-rarely-see-the-truth/#respond Thu, 09 Nov 2017 12:22:08 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/the-truth-about-slim-people-review-we-rarely-see-the-truth/

Nobody wants to eat less or to eat more healthily.

You can tell exactly how much nobody wants to make these simple changes by the enthusiasm for daft diets.

There are people who drink a daily cocktail of maple syrup, cayenne pepper and lemon juice.

There are people who say you shouldn’t eat anything your caveman ancestors wouldn’t have eaten or that you should only eat raw vegetables.

We would say anything, believe anything, rather than take the obvious steps.

Perhaps, though, as The Truth About Slim People (Channel 4) hinted, the steps are not that obvious.

It was easy to hope for some big revelations from this televised experiment, whose subjects, Yemi and Anne-Marie, could eat like carthorses without looking like them.

Actually, it wasn’t hard to see why biscuit-fiend Yemi stayed so slim.

The father of two didn’t drink alcohol, he walked everywhere and his idea of a takeaway treat was a roll from Subway.

Towards AnneMarie, however, it was difficult not to feel a very particular mixture of jealousy and fury.

She knocked back glass after glass of vino on a night out, ate fast food for lunch, drove everywhere and her favourite snack was a cheese pasty drowned in salad cream.

There ought surely to have been some magic of DNA or bowel bacteria that kept her trim.

Alas no, the close surveillance of Yemi and Anne-Marie just revealed that they led far healthier lives than they seemed to.

Yemi, married to a chef, ate home-cooked, fresh food every day, the portions doled out by his missus.

He only ate snacks as part of a meal and he slept well.

Anne-Marie’s pasty binges were balanced by long periods of abstinence and even though she worked in an office, she was never still.

The truth about slim people, in other words, is that we rarely see the truth.

Between the much-envied skinny colleague and the shipping weight of cakes they scoff, there’s a whole raft of other factors that determine whether someone gets fat or thin.

It may not boil down to eating less and doing more but it boils down to several, equally boring things nobody really wants to do.

Change was coming to Detectorists (BBC4) and however obsessed hobbyarchaeologists Andy and Lance might have been with the past, the future was rushing up to hit them.

Treasure still lay in their beloved field and even if it didn’t, it was where they went, with their metal detectors, and where they wouldn’t be able to go once a giant solar energy plant was slapped onto it.

We’ll have to see whether the third series of this funny, sad, tender TV show is caught up with fighting for the field, or whether Lance and Andy’s inner battles take centre stage.

It’s clear, though, that it’s shed its sitcom disguise in favour of something deeper.

They’re both men without a place, new dad Andy (Mackenzie Crook) having taken up smoking so he can get out from under his mother-in-law’s feet, Lance (Toby Jones) having to shuffle awkwardly around the daughter who’s taken over his flat.

At the same time, their hobby isn’t just an escape, it’s a religion.

When Andy found an old hawking whistle in the field and blew it, they both shivered, experiencing history like a vision.

It would be easy to make a comedy that mocked men and their little hobbies.

This turns an obsession into TV treasure.

Kate Middleton and Prince William rarely hold hands in public and THIS is the reason why https://briefnews.eu/kate-middleton-and-prince-william-rarely-hold-hands-in-public-and-this-is-the-reason-why/ https://briefnews.eu/kate-middleton-and-prince-william-rarely-hold-hands-in-public-and-this-is-the-reason-why/#respond Wed, 04 Oct 2017 11:06:16 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/kate-middleton-and-prince-william-rarely-hold-hands-in-public-and-this-is-the-reason-why/

With Meghan Markle, 36, and Prince Harry, 33, seen kissing and hugging this weekend at the Invictus Games, many may be wondering why Kate Middleton, 35, and Prince William, 35, don’t do the same.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are clearly in love, and have a reputation as being warm and friendly.

But they are rarely seen holding hands, let alone kissing, while out on public engagements.

Is this due to royal rules? Or is there another reason for their coy behaviour?

It is in fact not a steadfast rule they are following, but more of an issue of protocol.

Prince William is heir to the throne, and as such takes his etiquette queues from the Queen.

His grandmother does not show affection to husband Prince Philip in public, probably because she is aware of her role as a head of state the gravitas need for that position.

This is in contrast to Prince Harry, who is fifth in line to the throne – and will soon drop to sixth when his latest nephew or niece is born next year.

As such, he can behave in a more relaxed manner than his brother.

That is not to say Kate and William have never kissed or held hands in public, but it depends on the occasion.

They were happy to embrace at the 2012 Olympics, for example, an event similar in stature to the Invictus Games.

So whilst Prince Harry and Meghan were very affectionate this weekend, they may tone it down at other, more serious occasions.

This is not the only protocol the royal family have to follow, and there are a series of rules in place.

The Duchess of Cambridge is banned from signing autographs – as are all other royals.

The long-standing rule remains in place for all royals because of the risk of the signature being forged.

Prince Charles reportedly responds to autograph requests with: “Sorry, they don’t allow me to do that.”
