The four-piece boyband, who won the ITV show a week ago today, took to the stage at London’s O2 Arena to showcase their debut single.

Dimelo had fans screaming and dancing along, and a recording of the performance has already had upwards of 40,000 views on YouTube.

Yesterday’s Jingle Bell Ball also boasted performances from Dua Lipa, Niall Horan, Sam Smith and Rita Ora among others.

The event continues tonight with appearances from Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran.

On Friday it was revealed that Rak-Su’s Dimelo had made its official UK chart debut at No2, the highest entry for an X Factor winner’s first effort since Ben Haenow in 2014.

However Ed Sheeran and Beyonce’s Perfect Duet stopped them from recapturing the days when the talent show’s winners would effortlessly glide to the summit.

Yesterday the four-piece boyband confirmed that their new music will be along sooner rather than later; opting out of the usual system that sees X Factor winners waiting until the following autumn.

They told BBC Radio 2’s Graham Norton Show, via Digital Spy: “What we are going to do is the songs that we’ve done on the show previously, we’re going to try and get some studio version of that done.

“Maybe plus another couple of songs and then put those together into a project to release early next year. And then we’re going to start work on the album as well.

“But I think we’ve got an opportunity at the moment and some momentum behind us, and we just want to use it.”

2016 winner Matt Terry only released his debut collection last month to disappointing results, and 2015’s champion Louisa Johnson has still not put out an LP.

But Rak-Su have said that they’ll be releasing more music as soon as early in 2017.

The group’s vast back catalogue of original songs, as seen throughout the X Factor live shows this year, is putting them in good stead to fire out the gates early.

Rak-Su are a quartet from Watford made up of Ashley, Jamaal, Myles and Mustafa, and they are only the second ever group to win the ITV talent show after Little Mix in 2011.

Their debut single Dimelo entered the UK singles chart at No2 yesterday, higher than both Terry and Johnson before them.

They couldn’t quite top Ed Sheeran, however; whose Beyonce duet Perfect sailed to the summit.

That track is now the firm bookies’ favourite to be Christmas number one in two weeks’ time.

An X Factor winner hasn’t had the festive top spot since 2014 when Ben Haenow’s Something I Need took the throne.

The group’s winners single Dimelo had only until midnight last night to register for today’s sales flash, and is already No46.

It now has until midnight on Thursday to continue its sales momentum before this week’s final tally is revealed on Friday.

As it stands, Dimelo – featuring Wyclef Jean and Naughty Boy, has a three-day handicap, given that the chart tracking week runs Friday-Thursday, and they didn’t win X Factor until Sunday night.

However, given that it’s currently at No1 on the iTunes listings, it stands in good stead to rise significantly, providing its popularity on streaming platforms is also hefty.

Elsewhere, Mariah Carey is continuing her annual ascent up the rundown with All I Want For Christmas Is You; racing from No22 to No4 in today’s update.

On iTunes, the 1994 classic is only at No32 – meaning the lion’s share of its performance is coming from streams.

Similarly Wham!’s Last Christmas has raced up to No5, and the Pogues’ Fairytale Of New York is at No9.

However it is Ed Sheeran out in front: Perfect is benefitting massively from a new version featuring Beyonce, and is leading the race at the half-way stage.

Assuming it holds until Friday, it will be his fourth chart-topping single.

Elsewhere Rita Ora holds at No2 with Anywhere and Camila Cabello is expected to drop from No1 to No3 with Havana, after five weeks on the throne.

The highest new entry – pending a Rak-Su surge – is from Louis Tomlinson, whose Miss You is currently showing at No30.

In the albums market, U2 are heading for the top with Songs of Experience – likely to be their first Top 5 record since 2009.

The four-piece boyband, who became only the second ever group to win the ITV talent show when they triumphed over Grace Davies, currently have no less than five separate tracks in the digital store’s Top 10.

At time of writing, highest of the lot is Dimelo, the track they have officially released as their winners’ single.

The version they performed on a live show last month is currently at No2, while the new mix with Wyclef Jean and Naughty Boy is two spots behind at No4.

In between, sandwiched at No3, is I’m Feeling You – their original audition track, which was dusted off for the semi-final.

They also appear at No5 with Mona Lisa, and at No7 with Mamacita.

Runner-up Grace, meanwhile, is at No9 with Too Young.

Still, it is unusual for an X Factor winner not to rocket straight to No1 on the iTunes listings – perhaps in this case Rak-Su just have so many different tracks on offer, their sales are more spread out. Or the combination of Ed Sheeran and Beyonce – still at the summit with Perfect – is too powerful.

Whatever the case, the iTunes chart is just one of many contributors to the main official UK singles chart, which also factors in streaming data, physical sales, and downloads from other outlets.

The defending No1 – Havana by Camila Cabello – is now No8 on iTunes, with Rita Ora’s Anywhere down to No6.

This week’s midweek update will be released later today, although it will only count sales and streams up to midnight last night – meaning Rak-Su will only have had a couple of hours since winning to gather traction.

Whether or not they can cover enough ground by the time the chart tracking week closes on Thursday night remains to be seen.

The group, made-up of Ashley, Jamaal, Myles and Mustafa, wowed the four-strong judging panel with their performance of original songs and saw the odds of reaching the festive top spot halved from 8/1 to 4/1.

They will face tough competition as a campaign has been launched to get Wham’s Last Christmas to No 1 to mark the first year anniversary of pop legend George Michael’s death.

But X Factor winners Rak-su, from Watford, who were mentored by Simon Cowell, had the judges and the audience up on their feet with their uplifting routine during the two-hour final.

Rak-Su, who were up against singer-songwriter Grace Davies, 20, of Blackburn, were credited with changing the nature of the show forever by the music mogul.

Simon told the ecstatic group: “I want to say first of all congratulations to Grace who is really an outstanding artist and obviously to the guys Rak-su.

“Gentlemen you are stars.” Rak-su – the first boyband to win X Factor – sang their song Dimelo with Naughty Boy and Wyclef Jean.

Other stars on the show were Little Mix, Latin US boyband CNCO, US star Pink and hit singer Sam Smith who revealed he was backing Grace to win.

He said: “I just love her.”

In a clip from the opening episode of the new series of the ITV show, the judging panel were left speechless following an audition by vocal group Rak-Su.

The foursome performed their original song I’m Feeling You, which features a melody as well as a rap and one member even busted out some dance moves.

Initially Simon, 57, and Louis Walsh seemed uncertain about the band as they began their song, however the act managed to turn the audition around. 

It was clear that the judges were amazed as Nicole Scherzinger danced away to the bouncy, upbeat track, while outside host Dermot O’Leary could be seen mouthing along the lyrics.

In fact, their performance was so good that most of the other X Factor hopefuls awaiting their own auditions could be seen on their feet and dancing around outside the room as they watched on a screen. 

Viewers will have to wait until Saturday’s episode to find out if Rak-Su got the green light from the judges and made it through to the next round.

The video comes as Sharon Osbourne teased conflict with her fellow judge Nicole, 39, at The X Factor launch, saying: “There’s always conflicts, that’s what is so exciting. 

She went on to say: “You can’t all just smile at each other all day long, you know. My conflict is that Nicole wanted my category and I’m so happy.”

Nicole confirmed: “I wanted the overs. I wanted to do something different because I’ve never had the overs here. 

“And then there’s one person in the girls I was like, ‘I want the girls’. For me, she’s like my James Arthur.”

But the 39-year-old went on to add: “There’s no real conflict… The only real conflict is if he [Louis Walsh] has a better judges’ home and I’m like, ‘I want that one’.”

The X Factor starts on ITV hits Saturday at 8pm.
