Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford welcomed Matthew Wright and Ivy for the This Morning View segment. The BBC licence fee was one of the topics up for discussion but Eamonn had to step in when Ivy slammed the broadcaster for scrapping free licenses for over 75s and swore live on TV.

During a discussion on TV licence scams, Ivy argued the elderly are afraid when they receive warning letters and are not aware these are scams. 

Eamonn began: “Ivy we were talking about the TV licence fee and your standing resolute on that.

“I would stand beside you in this gross act of immorality, buck passing by the BBC.

“But now it appears fraudsters are getting in on the act. A lot of over 75s are receiving scam letters and trying to get them signed up to paying their licence.”

“‘No, you’re going to have to pay for that. That’s the immorality of it.”

“It’s pure cr*p,” Ivy said as Eamonn remarked: “I couldn’t have put it better myself.”

“Why are we paying for Gary Lineker to sit on his backside and get paid £2 million for talking football with a couple of his pals,” Ivy continued. 

“No chance, I’m not doing that.”

Eva Longoria experienced some desperate times on the Desperate Housewives set, and her embattled former co-star Felicity Huffman proved to be her savior.

Longoria was one of 27 individuals who penned a letter of support to a judge on behalf of Huffman as she awaits sentencing for her role in the college admissions scandal.

“There was a time I was being bullied at work by a co-worker,” Longoria wrote to the judge, without naming the alleged perpetrator. “I dreaded the days I had to work with that person because it was pure torture. Until one day, Felicity told the bully ‘enough’ and it all stopped. Felicity could feel that I was riddled with anxiety even though I never complained or mentioned the abuse to anyone.”

Longoria also recalled how Huffman consoled her after she was the only Housewives leading lady not nominated for a Golden Globe in Season 1. “I wasn’t devastated but the press made it a bigger deal than it was between the four of us actors and that did affect me a bit,” she wrote. “Felicity came to my trailer and said, ‘It’s just a piece of metal, that and $ 1.50 will get you a bus ticket.’ She then proceeded to tell me how talented I was and how I never needed an award to know that. I know I would not have survived those 10 years if it wasn’t for the friendship of Felicity.”

Huffman pleaded guilty earlier this year to committing mail fraud and honest services fraud in connection with paying $ 15,000 to have someone take the SAT in place of her and husband William H. Macy’s older daughter, which ultimately resulted in a 1420 score for her. Federal prosecutors have recommended the judge sentence Huffman to a month in jail and fine her for $ 20,000. Huffman’s attorneys are asking Huffman instead be sentenced to a year of community service.

Voice acting is an undervalued profession, one that we don’t get to see much of unless it’s a star-studded affair like Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.

But the newly released Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse b-roll footage gives us a peek behind the curtain, where stars Shameik Moore, Hailee Steinfeld, Jake Johnson, Liev Schreiber, Brian Tyree Henry, Luna Lauren, John Mulaney, and Kimiko Glenn apparently act in full hair and make-up. But no one is as extra as Nicolas Cage, who shows up in a full suit and gives his whole being into voicing his character.

Spider-Man Into the Spider-Verse B-Roll

Brief snippets of the cast’s recording sessions make up this Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse b-roll video, but the entire thing is such a delight to watch that you’ll want an entire movie of just this. There’s nothing more fun than watching Mulaney give his all into voicing the goofy Spider-Ham, or see how Steinfeld’s elastic expressions become the foundation for her character Gwen Stacy.

But the most fun to watch of all of them is Nicolas Cage, a serious actor who takes very seriously his performance as a black-and-white detective version of Spider-Man from an alternate dimension. “Wherever I go, the wind follows,” Cage growls, “and the wind…smells like rain,” his brow furrowing and his hands dramatically gesturing as he delivers his lines with gusto. It’s pure cinema. And though it feels like a loss to not experience his whole performance in live-action, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse‘s stunning animation makes it (almost) worth it.

Ahead of the much-anticipated festive season German gold dealer Pro Aurum has erected the most expensive Christmas tree in all of Europe. The unusual decoration is made of gold coins worth €2.3 million ($ 2.6 million).

According to the dealer, the tree could’ve been worth more, but gold’s value declined during the second half of the current year.

“Gold is at any rate an asset class that has experienced a revival in the last few years. We’ve had a crisis of public debt, the financial crisis, we have increasing inflation at the minute and very low interest, and the bottom line is that means a negative real interest, which leads to many people investing part of their line of fixed assets in gold,” Pro Aurum spokesperson Benjamin Summa told RT’s video agency Ruptly.

“The worth of gold is growing – a few months ago it fell significantly, in euro too – but that means that people are taking introductory courses and buying more gold,” Summa added.

The glittering pyramid, displayed at Pro Aurum’s Munich Goldhaus, is three-meters high (almost 10 feet). The ‘tree’ was made in cooperation with the Austrian mint. The company’s employees spent more than an hour decorating the art object with 2,018 gold coins and topped it with a golden star.

“The tree is almost three meters high and is made of 63 kilograms of pure gold. That’s 2,018 1-ounce-coins of Gold Philharmonic. It’s a commercial quality bullion coin – well, 2,018 of them – and the tip of the gold tree is formed with a 20 ounce Vienna Gold Philharmonic coin, which alone is worth €21,000,” the spokesman said.

The extraordinary decoration will be exhibited until December 15, Pro Aurum said.

Instead it was the 9.30am gathering outside the storage barn to receive our ration of daily feed for the goats, pigs, donkeys, sheep and hens.

A gaggle of around 20 enthusiastic children of all ages had naturally pushed their way to the front for first dibs of the assorted treats, but parents and grandparents were just as eagerly gripping their buckets ready for the morning meander around the fields of Croft Farm, nestled in a sleepy hamlet a short distance inland from the western fringe of Cardigan Bay in Pembrokeshire.

This small working farm boasts nine luxury barn conversions which can each accommodate between three and six people, while The Farmhouse can house groups of 12 and has that very essential of party-house amenities – its own hot tub.

The place has been transformed over almost three decades by owners Andy and Sylvie Gow, who gave up their London careers in the catering industry to bring their family up in an idyllic location.

Most of the farm animals have been born and raised on the farm, the few others come from within a 10-mile circle. And every morning they all need breakfast.

With the sun gently rising over the undulating Pembrokeshire hills we don our sunglasses and wellies to immerse ourselves in a taste of the good life. Forty-five minutes later, invigorated by a stroll around the eight-acre site, feeding eight sheep, four Kunekune pigs, two donkeys, six goats, we reached the last stop – the chicken coop.

After carefully distributing the final feed of poultry pellets we were allowed to treat ourselves to a reward for our morning toil from the 18 residents – a freshly laid egg.

Still warm as you gently carry them back to your accommodation, these eggs are in a different stratosphere to those bought in a supermarket.

Sat on the terrace, washing down breakfast with a cup of fresh coffee, you felt the stresses and strains of life in the rat race lifting from your shoulders.

And an indoor swimming pool and spa alongside a well-equipped games room, outdoor play areas and a gym helped the whole family get into holiday mode.

Indeed our children quickly teamed up with other youngsters staying on the farm and rather than sullenly stare at screens, frequently vanished to the animal barns where they were able to take out rabbits and guinea pigs to stroke and cuddle to their hearts’ content.

The children – even my too-cool-for school 13-year-old – really didn’t want to leave their newfound friends (human and four-legged) behind but with a stunning array of riches awaiting we dragged them away to explore the hills and green fields that meander down to the coast where golden beaches lead from quaint fishing villages.

This part of the world is fabulous to see from land but for those with a sense of adventure, an exhilarating trip out into the Irish Sea on a jet boat takes some beating.

We took on a 90-minute excursion with A Bay To Remember (bayto remember.co.uk) and after a highspeed departure from Cardigan we soon saw our first porpoise battling the waves, followed by a peregrine falcon swooping down as we approached Cardigan Island, where hundreds of nesting seabirds fill the eyeline.

The 10-mile journey allowed us to explore the coast between Cardigan Island and Mwnt, an important feeding area and where on a good day, you stand a chance of spotting bottlenose dolphins.

The boat then headed to Cemaes Head where the highest sea cliffs in the Pembrokeshire National Park took our breath away.

Below was a secluded beach filled with Atlantic grey seals cavorting in and out of the water. Our intrepid captain also took us inside the sea caves along the coastline.

Equally exhilarating, but not quite as white-knuckle, was our stroll the following day along the Pembrokeshire Coast Path.

This breathtaking stretch of some of Britain’s most dramatic shorelines covers 186 miles from St Dogmaels in the north to Amroth in the south and the variety of terrain and views create differing sections.

This means that whatever your age or ability there is something to enjoy.

Seasoned walkers clad in full waterproof regalia mix easily with pushchair-pushing parents, while certain sections have been created to be accessible by wheelchair.

Teenagers looking for something more adrenalin-fuelled in the summer months when the water is a tad warmer can have a go at coasteering, which combines scrambling over rocks, jumping into the sea and battling the rough and tumble of the ocean.

Of course, all that sea air builds up a great hunger and while the temptation is always to return to your farm cottage for a barbecue there’s a bountiful selection of pubs and restaurants along the coast and in nearby Cardigan to delight all tastes.

The Food For Thought café in Cardigan was packed to the rafters whenever we passed and after sampling their homemade burgers we knew why.

Along the coast, in the centre of the pretty village of Newport, sits The Golden Lion, a hostelry that has served locals and travellers with homemade food for more than 300 years.

And while the seafood on offer in the area was sublime, the highlight for my clan was a visit to Pizzatipi in Cardigan – serving stone-baked pizzas in a riverside courtyard during the summer months.

Created beneath a tepee, where we stayed warm by sitting around blazing fire pits, we tucked into arguably the best pizzas, perfectly fuelling our energy for the next morning’s farmyard chores.

Last year, Renault resurrected its Alpine performance sub-brand’s A110, an iconic rear-engined, rally-dominating machine, as a modern mid-engined sports car with the same name. The result was something like a French Alfa Romeo 4C, with a similarly powerful turbocharged 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine mounted behind the two seats, a dual-clutch automatic transmission, and a feathery 2400-pound curb weight. Now Alpine is releasing two special-edition versions, the Pure and the Légende, and unveiling a new racing program.

The Pure model (pictured here in white) is billed as “minimalist,” lightweight and closest in spirit to the car that won the Monte Carlo Rally in 1973. The Légende is said to be a more luxurious take on the sports car and geared toward “long-distance touring” with six-way adjustable seats and a higher level of equipment. And then there’s the racer, which Alpine developed with its partner Signatech for GT4 competition against all comers in a fast-growing class (an earlier racer, the Alpine A110 Cup, was built for a one-make series).

With an unspecified increase in output over the base model’s 250 horsepower and aerodynamic measures to improve downforce, the A110 GT4 will appear during the second half of the 2018 racing season in Europe, while Alpine promises “full production” in time for customer teams to run the full 2019 season. Signatech will provide factory support to private teams. Those who have an A110 Cup will be offered an optional upgrade kit of components to convert it to GT4 specifications.
