A “Stellaride” proposal sure would be a wonderful thing to celebrate during #OneChicago Day, wouldn’t it? Alas, today’s virtual festivities for NBC’s Windy City-set franchise won’t include an engagement party for Chicago Fire‘s Severide and Stella. But given how long the couple has been dating, we couldn’t help but ask star Taylor Kinney during a recent press junket if the rescue squad lieutenant is going to put a ring on it.

“He better hope that he doesn’t try to get engaged psychically. He’s going to have to use his words and talk,” Kinney replied with a chuckle, his reference to Severide’s infamous communication issues earning boisterous laughter from his co-star Miranda Rae Mayo.

“It’d be a Severide move to just hide a ring in the glove box in the car or something and be like, ‘She’ll open it, she’ll find it. And if she doesn’t, then she must not want to marry me. We’re done.’ Hopefully, if it does come to it, he comes up with a better plan than not speaking,” Kinney concluded with a laugh.

According to showrunner Derek Haas, all hope is not lost for the pair. “I would be surprised if we got through this season without some kind of big ‘Stellaride’ advancement,” Haas hinted in a separate interview.

But first, Stella and Severide need to get through their current relationship rough patch. After discovering that people were gossiping about Stella’s quick climb up the CFD ladder and how sleeping with a connected firefighter probably isn’t hurting her, Severide decided to give his girlfriend space. But rather than explaining the situation, he repeatedly gave her half-hearted excuses for why he couldn’t help her study for the lieutenant’s exam like he promised. Stella, of course, picked up on his weird behavior.

Chicago Fire Spoilers“I don’t think I’m pulling the wool over [her] eyes,” Kinney noted with a smile. “It’s not like he’s trying to hide the thing, because he’s not that good at it. He’s just not good at communicating. So instead of coming out and saying exactly what is on his mind, he comes up with a bunch of pretty bad excuses, which in turn, she sees, and then she’s like, ‘OK, if we’re gonna play this game, I’m out. So figure it out, and you talk to me later, but I’m not sticking around for this game,’ because she’s sick of it. And I think he comes to terms like, ‘S–t, I gotta get my stuff together,’ and then in the episodes to come, hopefully, he comes to his senses and it works out, and he talks to her.”

But with Severide, he feels like the situation “has to be either this or either that,” Mayo added. “Looking back at it now, it’s so funny. He totally could have chose not to tell her when she was so excited [about the exam], but then [he could have been honest] later that night.”

This Sunday’s episode of NCIS: Los Angeles by and large wrapped up the “superbills” counterfeiting case, but in retrospect saved its very biggest moments — and there were several — for the final minutes.

Let’s start on the brighter side of things: Deeks, while concealing a possibly broken rib, called Kensi to share his fare that he had “washed out” at FLETC. But once he got back to HQ, Hetty (who Kilbride told us was on an op that had “hit a snag”) Skyped in to invite him to open the top drawer of his old desk. Inside, no surprise, was his NCIS badge. And though they will hold off on a team-wide celebration until Callen gets back, Kensi says the night is free for them to celebrate by themselves — once Deeks fesses up to his injury, whoops.

So, where was Callen? As teased at the top of the episode, he had plans to propose to longtime love Anna. And he aimed to do that by surprising her at the motel where she has been staying, while participating in the Rebuild U.S. project to help a community that had been devastated by the one-two punch of wildfires and COVID. Yet when Callen shows up at the front desk to ask what room Anna is in, the manager says that the motel is actually completely empty. But what about all the volunteers who were staying there with the Rebuild U.S. project…?

What rebuild project?, the puzzled manager asked, making clear that Anna had told her boyfriend quite a whopper.

Ouch. Ouch.

NCIS Young HettyAnyways… speaking of Callen, in the build-up to his would-be proposal, he twice flashed back to his younger self (played by Johnny Jay Lee). In the first flashback, we saw Young Callen enamored with a young woman named Jocelyn — and she, him. But in the second flashback, to the heartbreaking moment when Callen left Jocelyn and that normal life behind in order to get answers about his identity/past, he hopped into the back seat of a car, where a Younger Hetty questioned his final decision. It was clearly Linda Hunt’s voice, but Hetty herself, when glimpsed, was some combination of another actress and or CGI and or practical prosthetics/wigging.

But wait, there’s more! Because in addition to Deeks’ very good news and the gut punch Callen suffered, there was a tiny bit of business with Sam’s daughter Kamran — who after a quick call with her dad, got sneaked up on in a parking garage, grabbed and dragged away by a masked man.

Lawyers representing Vizio TV owners have asked a federal judge in Orange County, California to sign off on a proposed class-action settlement with the company for $ 17 million, for an affected class of 16 million people, who must opt-in to get any money. Vizio also agrees to delete all data that it collected.

Notice of the lawsuit will be shown directly on the Vizio Smart TVs, three separate times, as well as through paper mailings.

When it’s all said and done, new court filings submitted on Thursday say each of those 16 million people will get a payout of somewhere between $ 13 and $ 31. By contrast, their lawyers will collectively earn a maximum payout of $ 5.6 million in fees.

“I plan to make this proposal [to jointly bid for the Games] to the North for the settlement of peace,” Do said on Wednesday during a business trip to Tokyo. “Seoul and Pyongyang would co-host the games,” he added.

The minister noted that the idea of holding the joint event with North Korea stemmed from the successful experience of the 2018 Winter Games in PyeongChang, where a united Korean women’s ice hockey team competed under one flag.

The two countries also marched together under a unified Korean flag at the opening ceremony of the Games, marking a thaw in strained relations after decades of mutual hostility.

“The PyeongChang Winter Olympics showed the Olympic values very well,” Do said. “I hope peace in Northeast Asia can continue through sports.”

The South Korean minister also proposed making a pan-Asian bid to host the FIFA World Cup in 2030 with North Korea, China and Japan.

“We heard that China is going to make a bid to host the World Cup,” he said. “But we want to make a proposal of co-hosting the event with Asian neighbors like North Korea, China and Japan. In this way, we can maintain the current atmosphere of peace and can connect Northeast Asia peace with peace on the Korean Peninsula.”

Romantic dad Aaron Broadhead, 22, popped the question after Skyler-Grace arrived on Wednesday 15 August at the labour ward at Pinderfields hospital, West Yorkshire.

Speaking about his secret plan to surprise Skyler-Grace’s mum, Emily Barker, first-time father Mr Broadhead admitted he had been planning the proposal for about three months.

He said: “We’d been together for a year, I’d had it planned since Emily was about 28 weeks into her pregnancy. It was a big question so I was definitely nervous.”

Little Skyler-Grace, who weighed 6Ib 9oz, was briefly taken away from her mum to be washed and dressed, and Aaron seized the opportunity to slip his daughter into the baby-grow.

Fortunately, the baby grow fit his newborn daughter.

Mr Broadhead added: “I was a bit worried she wouldn’t fit into it – but she came out a healthy weight so it all worked out in the end.”

Wearing a little pink hat, the tot’s outfit read: “Mummy will you marry Daddy?”

Overwhelmed, new mum Ms Barker, 18, couldn’t say no to the adorable gesture following the birth.

Skyler-Grace was then handed back to an ecstatic Ms Barker.

Speaking of the romantic proposal, Ms Barker, from Leeds, West Yorks., said: “It was the happiest day of my life – I couldn’t believe it.

“It made Skyler-Grace’s birth extra special.”

The staff on the Labour ward were also over the moon with the romantic proposal and Labour Ward manager, Sarah Brennan said: “It was a lovely moment, all the staff were overwhelmed.

“It’s the first marriage proposal we have seen here on the Labour Ward at Pinderfields.”

This is the surest sign so far that Prince Harry intends to make Meghan a member of the family. His older brother Prince William gave his wife Kate Middleton a Cartier watch on their three-year wedding anniversary.

Will Prince Harry give Meghan an engagement ring from his mother’s jewels? Some experts were claiming this could well be the case. 

It was thought the prince might make the ring out of his mother’s emeralds, however one expert revealed why this would not be the case. 

However, one designer David Law believes that Prince Harry will opt for a perfect combination of royal jewellery traditions and American tastes.

He predicts a large clear diamond – instead of the traditional coloured stone the royal family prefer, to suit the tastes in the LA-born actress’ home country.

The question of how to reign in monitoring enabled by Section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) has been in the spotlight ever since the Edward Snowden PRISM revelations. What exactly to do about it has gone back and forth, but the latest attempt to “reform” surveillance is here in the form of the USA Liberty Act, a bipartisan proposal introduced by Senators Mike Lee and Patrick Leahy (PDF). The Washington Post figures it has little chance of passage, however, it does contain language that would make government agencies get a warrant before searching information collected by the NSA under Section 702.

Even with that, there are critics saying it doesn’t go far enough. The Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) says that most importantly, it doesn’t stop the NSA from collecting data on innocent people. Further, its rules on “new reporting requirements, new defaults around data deletion, and new guidance for amicus engagement with the FISA Court” don’t go far enough, and won’t end so-called “backdoor searching.” Still, ACLU counsel Neema Singh Guliani called it an improvement over the House legislation, noting its warrant requirement.

Section 702 is supposed to let the NSA collect emails and communications of foreigners living overseas from US companies, but because those people communicate with Americans, all of that data is potentially accessible. This prospect of domestic spying without a warrant, as other agencies can ask for access the NSA’s data. It also needs to be reauthorized periodically, which is why lawmakers are considering this now.

The European Commission will propose new rules next year to ensure that the online sector pays its fair share of taxes. The commission’s head, Jean-Claude Juncker, said on Friday in the  Estonian capital Tallinn: “We are of the opinion that in the digital sector, tax has to be paid where it is due, be it online or be it offline.” Critics say online firms such as Google or Facebook pay too little tax in the EU by routing profits to low-rate countries such as Luxembourg or Ireland. New rules will be proposed “on fair and effective taxation that provides legal certainty and a level playing field for all,” Reuters quoted Juncker as saying.

Meghan Markle was spotted with her year-long boyfriend Prince Harry earlier today.

The couple were smiling with each other as they headed on their romantic safari trip to Africa.

The prince was seen tenderly wrapping his arm around her as they walked across the airport.

He reportedly gave a thumbs up to the other passengers as they left the plane.

Meghan was spotted holding a bubble wrapped gift, most likely from her royal boyfriend for her birthday yesterday.

She was wearing a pair of elegant blue skinny jeans and sandals, hiding her face with a cap and dark sunglasses.

The 36-year-old actress was also carrying two stylish hats as well as a large bag before boarding, as Harry was spotted cradling her against him.

He too attempted to go incognito with a similar hat and sunglasses.

A royal source told The Sun: “Harry has been planning this holiday for a long time.

“He’s made the trip incredibly romantic. They’ll go on boats across the lake, walk in the bush at dawn and camp under the stars.

“Harry regards Africa as his spiritual home and has often talked of how he can get away from it all there.

“Who knows what will happen when they’re watching a sensational African sunset together? Maybe he’ll get down on one knee.”

The young couple have been plagued with engagement rumours ever since Prince Harry announced their relationship last year.

August was suggested to be the month that Harry wanted to propose, with it being the 20th anniversary of his mothers death.

The source stated: “He feels getting engaged will lift that gloom forever because he will be able to associate August with something joyful.”

He was also reportedly spotted heading to Collins, the Queen’s jeweller earlier this year for Meghan’s engagement ring.
