ITV viewers have been waiting patiently for this year’s 20th-anniversary series of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! which will be shunning the Australian jungle for the UK countryside for the first time ever. And as fans continue to speculate over who will be appearing on the programme this year, it’s thought the first eight stars for the show have been all-but-confirmed after a number of famous faces were seen appearing to arrive for a photoshoot ahead of the programme’s start-date next month. The rumour-mill has gone into overdrive in recent weeks as talk of which famous faces might be on the billing has only grown. However, it looks as though viewers won’t have to wait much longer to find out who will be entering the makeshift jungle this year. Snaps were released appearing to show a selection of well-known names attending a top-secret photoshoot in the capital. Stars who can be seen arriving include operatic tenor Russell Watson and TV veteran Vernon Kay. READ MORE: I’m A Celebrity 2020: Will Joe Swash return to series? In photos obtained by The Sun, others who can be seen arriving include BBC favourite Victoria Derbyshire and Coronation Street legend Beverley Callard. Other names who reportedly complete the line-up include EastEnders star Jessica Plummer and former Strictly professional, AJ Pritchard. “This year’s collection of celebrity contestants are shaping up to be nothing if not eclectic, with the latest signings,” a source told The Sun. Express.co.uk has contacted a representative for I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! for comment on the speculation. The trailer shows the pair paying homage to the show’s famous dingo dollar challenges. Ant says: “Look, let’s call Kiosk Kev! He’ll know the way to camp,” before stepping into a phonebox. “Hello, Kev it’s us. We’re on our way to camp but we’re a bit lost,” he remarks before Dec goes onto quiz his host on what Kiosk Kev has told him. “He said, ‘According to a recent survey, what percentage of people stay in their pyjamas all day at the weekend? Is it A 23 percent or B, 29 percent?” Fans of the show soon reacted to the update, with one sharing: “B****y hell Ant. That’s a cracking impression of Kev! @antanddec.” Another said: “Can’t wait for this to come on. One of my favourite programmes to watch.” “I wait all year for this, we need a good laugh best ever,” commented a third.” Another fan echoed: “Love these boys! And what a great impression Ant xx.” I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! returns next month to ITV. Speaking on today’s edition of Loose Women, Janet told the panel and viewers at home she found out she had a basal cell carcinoma, a form of skin cancer, and was due to have it removed but the lockdown postponed the operation. The 73-year-old explained she originally thought the bump on her nose was a mosquito bite but went to the doctor to check. She explained: “I showed this tiny spot on my nose to a dermatologist and he immediately referred me to a consultant and they said I’ve got a basel cell carcinoma, which is a form of skin cancer. “If untreated it could grow. It has to be removed otherwise it’s going to get bigger and bigger. “Also, I could be left with a very big scar. “I was about to have it removed then lockdown happened three days before I was supposed to have it removed.” READ MORE: Janet Street-Porter clashes with Ian Hislop in heated Cummings row “And to all those who’ve been waiting for medical procedures during lockdown.” Later on in the show, Janet revealed she is still “fearful” of an abusive ex-partner. Janet did not name the ex-partner but opened up to the panel about her experience as she praised supermarkets for coming up with a code to help those who are victims of abuse. Supermarket staff are introducing a code word that a victim can use and they will be taken to a room where appropriate action can be taken. Janet commented: “While I think this is all a very good idea… The idea of going into a supermarket and being so distraught anyway, they have to find the room, it’s a bit like the smoking room, is it a special room that someone has a key to? “I know I sound cynical but you can imagine a situation where someone is absolutely at their wits end and then they were going through a series of members of staff. “What we really need are highly trained experts and people who have done the proper training to help us out of that situation.” Janet added: “When I was in an abusive relationship I did not discuss it with anyone, because I realised I had made a complete fool of myself, you are paralysed. “You might have the number on your supermarket till but then it’s like telling more people what a mess you’ve made of things, you do blame yourself.” Loose Women airs weekdays on ITV at 12.30pm.
Mosul is the latest pointer to the urban nature of theaters in which many future conflicts may be set. Experts view situations the U.S. has found itself in over the past 15 years as foreshadowing a part of what the Army and the Marines may face with increasing regularity in the years ahead. It’s a future they are preparing for.
A new program announced by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) last summer aims to develop software capable of running on personal electronics that Marines can use to simulate and test situations they might encounter in coastal, urban settings. The Marines also run urban combat training programs like the Raid-Leaders course, in which Marines raid a part of a city — in 2014 it was Los Angeles — as a training exercise. The U.S. Army is trying to increase the density at some urban training sites to replicate what fighting in crammed cities would be like. And West Point’s Modern War Institute, through its Urban Warfare Project, is collecting research on the subject, says John Spencer, deputy director of the institute and strategic planner for the Department of Military Instruction.
[In the year 2000], very few people would’ve thought we would’ve been in an urban [military] environment.
Gian Gentile, military historian, RAND
For sure, urban warfare will likely remain only one part of America’s overall national security strategy. The 2018 National Defense Strategy unveiled by the Trump administration in January highlights great power competition — more than terrorism in urban settings — as the country’s biggest security challenge. But experts are unanimous that urban warfare will continue to grow in importance, whatever space it occupies in the larger national security emphasis of the government. The recognition that battles like those in Aleppo, Fallujah and Mosul are not anomalies but previews of increasingly what’s to come is at the heart of this emphasis on urban warfare preparedness. Those urban battles of the last decade displayed the impacts of modern urban combat, scenarios that RAND senior historian Gian Gentile says many Army personnel didn’t expect before America launched the Iraq War in 2003.
“[In the year 2000], very few people would’ve thought we would’ve been in an urban environment,” says Gentile. “And that’s exactly where we were once the United States moved into Iraq and we operated in places like Baghdad and Mosul.”
That many future war theaters may be urban isn’t surprising, suggested Mark Milley, chief of staff at the U.S. Army at New America’s 2017 Future of War conference in March 2017. More than half the global population lives in urban areas, and the world is currently home to 31 megacities. That could increase to 50 by 2050, according to a University of Ontario population projection. “I think we’re on the cusp of a fundamental change in the character of war,” Milley said at the conference. “If war is really about politics, it’s going to be fought, in general, where people are.”
Beyond demographic shifts, cities are also becoming less stable and create an asymmetric advantage for actors defending such an area, says Spencer. Every building can be fortified, while defenders can tunnel within and between buildings to avoid being exposed in the street. Communication is difficult when spread across city blocks and removing civilians is harder, the larger a city. Overall, urban environments are several orders of magnitude more complicated than the rolling hills of boot camp, says Zachary Griffiths, special forces officer and American politics instructor in the Department of Social Sciences at West Point. The DARPA program for the Marines aims at enabling soldiers to adapt faster than adversaries in such complex environments.

Previous experiences in urban combat situations have also taught the Army lessons; machine-oriented changes, like making sure tanks can shoot at a high enough angle to target high-rises and working with units that combine light and mechanized infantry with the right protection and weapons, could help make the Army more effective, Gentile says. Though, he cautioned that technological advancement can only take the Army so far.
“Technology and improvement in technology are important, but it’s not going, in the end, to make this something like a cakewalk,” Gentile says. “If we do send military forces into a city to do combat operations, you can do your best to reduce the level of destruction, but ultimately that’s what war is about — it’s about death and destruction.”
Although the shift is being discussed at a high level, Griffiths says training throughout Army units should be more focused on urban combat, particularly in the long-term efforts needed to succeed in those confrontations. And, developing a better understanding of how cities work, becoming more “environment-centric,” as Spencer says, can also create a military advantage for one side over another.
Fifteen years ago, the U.S. Army started to appreciate the importance of cities, Gentile says. Now, into the next decade, it will see how the landscape of urban combat will be fleshed out. And if it looks anything like previous battles that have been fought in cities, that future could be ugly.

Washington is planning to “rapidly” pull out all its troops from Syria, various media outlets have reported, citing US officials
The decision was allegedly taken by President Donald Trump himself, who repeatedly expressed his intent to get out of the Arab Republic earlier. However, the Pentagon apparently opposes the move. The potential withdrawal would upend assumption about the long-term US presence in the war-ravaged country, which was particularly backed by the Defense Secretary James Mattis.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry will head to Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific Islands of Fiji and Tonga for 16 days later this month.
The trip will be the royal couple’s first ever official tour together.
A royal insider has now revealed the extent to which Meghan will be preparing for the important journey.
The former member of the Queen’s Household explained that the Duchess of Sussex will have a whole team behind her to help.
“The Duchess of Sussex will have a team of Royal aids within the palace that are there to assist her in every way to prepare for her formal engagements,” etiquette expert Myka Meier, who now runs Beaumont Etiquette, told Cosmopolitan.
Meghan will have to learn how to greet and address the senior people she will be meeting on the trip.
She’ll be briefed ahead of each event during the tour on who she will be meeting.
The team will help her with the important topics she should speak about and how to show respect.
All eyes will be on Meghan’s wardrobe as she visits the various countries on the tour, too.
She and her husband Harry will be expected to embrace any local customs in place.
“For instance, if in a country they visit it’s a sign of respect to dress in a certain way, they will do so,” Meier said.
Royals are often seen on their travels wearing outfits by local designers. This shows both respect and support for that country.
For instance, Kate Middleton, 36, did this when she and Prince William, 36, visited Bhutan in 2016.
The Duchess of Cambridge donned a handwoven Bhutanese-inspired outfit during an archery session.
Meghan’s royal preparation will also cover how to address the leaders they meet during the trip.
Her attention will be drawn to “any political, religious or cultural sensitivities to be aware of,” said Meier.
The 16-day visit will take place between Tuesday, October 16 and Wednesday, October 31.
The four-country tour of the Pacific will see Meghan Markle and Harry in Sydney on October 16 for a day before spending October 17 in Dubbo in rural New South Wales.
On October 18, the couple will be in Melbourne, before returning to Sydney for the fourth Invictus Games events between October 19 and October 21.
The Invictus Games opening ceremony will be held on October 20.
According to a message sent by Surgutneftegas to one of its customers, the oil company wants to “avoid any possible problems with payment in USD,” the news agency reports. “We do not comment on our commercial activity,” replied the company, Russia’s fourth largest by output.
The reported move comes in line with the recent comments from the Kremlin. Last month, Finance Minister Anton Siluanov said Russia could reject the greenback in oil trade.
“It is not ruled out. We have significantly reduced our investments in US assets. In fact, the dollar, which was considered the global currency, becomes a risky instrument for settlements,” he told Russian TV.
Russian Energy Minister Aleksandr Novak has said that the government is considering the possibility of oil settlements in national currencies, especially with Turkey and Iran.
Surgutneftegas is not the only Russian energy company that is reported to be working to reduce dependence on the dollar. A Reuters source in Gazprom Neft, Russia’s third-biggest oil company by output, said its contracts already have a clause to trade without the US dollar. Gazprom’s oil subsidiary has not commented on the issue yet.
The largest Russian oil company Rosneft is also interested in diversifying. The firm has opened banking accounts in Hong Kong dollars and Chinese yuan. Rosneft has also prepared itself for the shutdown of SWIFT interbank cash transfer services, should Russia be shut out of the system as part of Western sanctions. A Russian equivalent of SWIFT was tested by Rosneft in December.

Speaking at Lancaster House ahead of a meeting with Prime Minister Theresa May at No.10, the Secretary-General Stoltenberg said the bond between Europe and the United States would survive tensions and disagreements over issues such as trade and the Iran nuclear deal.
“Our bond is strong but some are doubting the strength of that bond. And yes we see differences between the United States and other allies over issues such as trade, climate and the Iran nuclear deal.”
“It is not written in stone that the transatlantic bond will survive forever but I believe we will preserve it,” he added.
Stoltenberg’s plea for unity comes ahead of a summit of the 29-member alliance, expected to take place in Brussels on July 11 or 13, either side of US President Donald Trump’s visit to the UK.
The summit is said to be one of the most fraught in the organization’s history with US President Donald Trump at loggerheads with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and German Chancellor Angela Merkel on a slew of issues, chief amongst them his demands that European allies spend more on defense.
Currently, only five NATO members are spending the 2 percent minimum of GDP on defense as demanded by the US president, with the UK among them.
In March, US Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin announced that members looking for exemptions from US steel and aluminum tariffs might be asked to step up their contributions to the organisation, a sign of potential threats Trump may cite when he touches down in Europe.
During his speech, Stoltenburg praised the the UK as “instrumental” in the success of the alliance and that it led by example when it came to defence spending.
Stoltenberg’s visit and comments are likely to delight officials and ministers at the Ministry of Defence, said to be suffering from “shockwaves” after a heated meeting between Defence Secretary Gavin Williamson, May, and Chancellor Mark Hammond earlier this week
According to the Financial Times, Williamson was told to rethink the capabilities needed to be a “tier one” military power and focus more on Britain’s ability to tackle any cyber warfare threats, including from Russia.

While a Downing Street spokesperson has since reaffirmed the prime minister’s commitment to Britain remaining a “leading military power,” ministers at the MoD have been canvassing heavily for an upgrade of conventional military capabilities, insisting that Russia is not content with merely launching cyber attacks.
Writing in The Times ahead of Stoltenberg’s speech, Williamson spoke mainly of the importance NATO played to European security at a “pivotal moment in our nation’s history,” but also sided with Trump in demanding other nations spend more on defence.
He said: “We welcome the fact that many European allies are increasing their defence spending but our continent has to take greater responsibility for its own security. Europe cannot expect to outsource its defenses to American taxpayer.”
On Wednesday, Armed Forces Minister Mark Lancaster MP told the Royal United Services Institute (RUSI) annual Land Power conference that Russia was not content with cyber operations and proxy conflicts for fear of “getting its hands dirty.”
Calling it a “myth” that Russia wouldn’t use “hard power” in the future, Lancaster said investing in cyber defence capabilities was not enough and that maintaining and upgrading its traditional forces remained essential.
Williamson and the MoD are currently compiling a review of future plans of its armed forces and where savings can be made to make up for a funding shortfall that could reach £20 billion ($ 26.2 billion).
Due to report in the autumn, much of the funding drain is caused by spending plans for new warships and nuclear submarines, as well as the modernization of the Royal Air Force’s fighter fleet with the F-35 Lightning II.
