The Bake Off host kept a straight face throughout as he delivered the surprise news to The One Show hosts, who by this point were giddy for their guest. “I play a special policeman,” Matt continued, which brought a huge gasp from Alex. An excitable Alex began to probe Matt: “You were telling us as well, you haven’t seen any of the footage yet.” Matt’s poker face stayed strong as he concocted a tale about his time on the show: “They give you only some of the script, so I don’t even know what happens in the end.” The I’m A Celeb camp was left in stitches when Ruthie Henshall around in search of a non-existent light switch. The 53-year-old West End star – who had arrived at the camp later than the other contestants – was the focus of a cheeky prank earlier this week as the celebrities tried to get some sleep. During this week’s recap episode, former EastEnders legend Shane Richie asked Ruthie to turn off the lights so that the camp could go to sleep. Ruthie then wandered around the camp trying to find a lightswitch, unaware that there was no such thing and it had all been a cheeky prank. Speaking in the Telegraph, Shane proudly explained that he had come up with the hilarious joke. “Thing is right, I asked Ruthie to turn the light switches off so we could go to sleep, but what she doesn’t know is there are no light switches,” he said. Read More: Ruthie Henshall’s Prince Edward revelation sparks Lady C to speak out Shane, who has been making lots of jokes during his time on the show, then gave Ruthie false directions as she continued her search for the lightswitch. “Are you taking the p**s?” Ruthie can be heard responding to the camp. Before long, the actress had realised that she had fallen for a prank and the camp erupted into laughter. Although she had been sent on a wild goose chase, Ruthie saw the funny side and also shared a giggle. “I got jumped out on by Prince Charles and Prince Edward when I was having a cook-out with them!” revealed during the interview. “They told me there were ghosts in this particular place and when I went to the toilet with a candle because there was no electricity, they waited for me to come out and then jumped out on me!” She added: “I screamed the place down! They were hilarious.” Although her relationship with Prince Edward eventually came to an end, the actress remained close to the royal family and even attended Edward’s wedding to Sophie Rhys-Jones in 1999. Since entering the I’m A Celebrity camp, Ruthie has also opened up about her royal romance with her co-stars. At one point, Ruthie explained that the Prince had been a ‘lovely bloke’ and she had many memories of her time with the royal family. “You performed in Buckingham Palace, you sang in the gardens, I s****ed in the bedrooms,” she told Shane as the camp relaxed. She even revealed that she had several encounters with Princess Diana but had one particularly hazy memory because Prince Charles had given the actress her I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here! continues on Sunday night at 9pm on ITV. This Morning saw Holly Willoughby left on her own today as Phillip Schofield was off for the day. However she quickly went on to introduce her I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! alum John Barrowman MBE. John barged onto the set screaming his signature: “Fabulous!” causing Holly to scream with delight. But John had a trick up his sleeve as he brought out his hand from his pocket. In a fell swoop he brought out a group of fake spiders and flung them at his co-host. Startled, Holly yelled: “Oh my god you idiot! “What are you doing!?” Trying to explain his actions through laughter, John said: “I brought a little something from the jungle!” Once they had calmed down Holly and John settled down and began the show. But fans were utterly elated by the prankster’s actions as they began speaking out on Twitter. One fan wrote: “Watching #ThisMorning with #johnbarrowman presenting. It is as he sings fabulous and inspirational and cheerful!!!!” Another said: “ThisMorning John Barrowman on today’s episode. Fabuuuuuulous.” While a third chimed in: “Aaahhh! #ThisMorning with @JohnBarrowman presenting with @hollywills SO EXCITED!” Meanwhile other viewers called for John to stay on the show permanently. One said: “Ok can we have John, Phil & Holly hosting all together please and thank you! John suits this role! #ThisMorning.” And the pranks didn’t stop there, as John continued to pull out more spiders throughout the show. Luckily for Holly, John was mostly well-behaved the rest of the day. This Morning also saw the pair talk to Emma Fairweather discussing her recent car crash with Prince Philip. During the interview Emma said: “I need somebody to understand that I still have medical concerns.” This Morning airs weekdays at 10.30am on ITV.

Fans are eagerly awaiting news about their favourite Game of Thrones characters as the months lead up to the season eight debut next year.
Fans are still none the wiser on who the HBO fantasy will finally see taking up their spot as the leader on Westeros and sitting down on the iconic Iron Throne.
Cersei Lannister (played by Lena Headey) currently rules Kings Landing by default, but Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) and her trusted adviser Tyrion (Peter Dinklage) are hot on her heels.
What’s more, fans are simultaneously seeking out hints over which of their favourite remaining characters could die before the six-part series airs its final episode.
Now, it seems actor Peter likes to play with the hype by pranking his friends on the set of the hit drama.
Appearing on US chat show Jimmy Kimmel Live this week, the star revealed he “plays dead” during filming, tricking all of his co-stars into thinking something is seriously wrong in the middle of the show’s gruelling schedule.
With a glint in his eye, Peter explained: “I like to pretend I’m dead.
“It’s fun, for whoever the wardrobe person, the producers, just my legs sprawled out in the trailer.”
The actor went on give his exact methods, and it seemed he takes the game very seriously, even hinting at what’s to come with his character.
“You gotta get very smooshed in the floor in a very awkward position,” he continued. “I’ll wait hours! We have a lot of time on set.”
The actor also addressed reports he hadn’t wanted to take the role of the loveable dwarf Tyrion nearly a decade ago.
“I had some concerns,” he admitted. “Maybe it’s filtered down into some sort of rumour that I didn’t want to do it.
“But when I met [showrunners] Dave [Benioff] and Dan [Weiss] for the first time with Carolyn Strauss, another producer on the show, so many years ago in Los Angeles, they told me about it briefly before I met them.
“Then I came in with some concerns about this genre, having seen many pieces.”
Explaining it was a very different part for him to play, Peter shared. “I wasn’t familiar with the books, so I wasn’t familiar with the complexity of Tyrion at that point.
“Because unfortunately, before this character, many times people my size weren’t complicated enough for me to be interested in doing it.
“I had done it one or two times before and it didn’t grab me.”
“But they relieved my concerns very quickly,” the star added.
Game of Thrones season 8 returns to HBO and Sky Atlantic in 2019. Seasons 1-7 are available to stream on NOW TV now.
Airport passengers travelling through on holiday have been caught out by bored pranksters.
Travellers seeking somewhere to charge their gadgets would have been pleased to spot a free outlet, as many are often taken by other travellers.
However, on closer inspection. they are fake and are instead stickers showing a plug socket.
People who have been tricked when trying to plug their chargers in have expressed their hatred and embarrassment.
One Twitter user who was caught by the prank tweeted: “Whoever put up this fake sticker of an open outlet at the airport, you are now my enemy for life.”
The tweet, which has over 183,000 retweets, enraged other passengers who expressed their sympathy.
A user wrote: “Why would someone do that?!” A reply to his question was: “Some people are just mean.”
Some decided to be pedantic about the tweet: “That’s not a fake sticker. It is a very real sticker of a fake open outlet.”
Others were angry at the person tweeting for trying to take up both outlets.
One remarked: “But also why didn’t you even try to use the lower one so someone else can use the upper one if it was real.”
Another user wrote: “Karma too… for you trying to plug that into the top outlet and block the lower one.”
Others stuck up for the man, saying he obviously tried the bottom one first and it was just for the sake of the photograph.
Some stickers were even placed on rubbish bins and high up on walls with others admitting to being caught out.
Images revealed stickers scratched in rage at the fake sockets after falling victim to the prank.
It isn’t the first time this has caught passengers out, as a viral video emerged last year of people being caught out.
A young woman walked over with her plug and tried to put it into the socket, only to feel the sticker and realise it didn’t have the correct holes.
Many loved the prank with one person nothing: “This is so cruelly amusing. I love it.”
The person filming later explained that the woman caught out in the video “didn’t find it amusing” when she knew he was the culprit.
People wanting to catch them out can buy the stickers easily online for less than £10.
Here’s a pretty epic high-school senior prank: A car crashed into the side of the school building just outside the principal’s office, bricks strewn everywhere and a gaping black hole. Except none of it is real.
It happened in Cumberland, Wis., a small town in northwest Wisconsin about 90 miles from Minneapolis. There, seniors at Cumberland High School used the sawed-off rear two-thirds of a junker Pontiac Grand Am GT with a Texas license plate, tape and a black tarp, plus some strategically placed bricks, to create the illusion of a gaping hole in the wall of the school, near the principal’s office. A photo of the teens shows them holding a banner warning against the dangers of drinking and driving.
Konur Paso, one of the seniors behind the prank, told the Twin Cities Pioneer Press the idea came about after talking with his dad, Jon Pasko, a technology teacher in the district. A friend of Konur’s had purchased the Grand Am and then sold it for $ 200 after discovering it had severe front suspension problems.
“We have this junk car. Now what are we going to do with it?” Konur said.
So he and his friends spent the weekend gutting the car, removing the engine, front seats, panels, wiring and other parts and then cutting off the front of the body. They loaded it onto a trailer and found bricks at Konur’s grandfather’s house.
The prank setup took only seven minutes, he said.
“You had everyone a little nervous this morning,” the school district posted on Facebook. The city’s police department offered its congratulations, calling it “one of the best senior pranks that Cumberland High School has seen.”

Yesterday may have been Easter Sunday but, unbeknownst to many, it was also April Fool’s Day.
Movie fans were shocked and surprised to hear that Daniel Craig had pulled out of the next James Bond movie and Hardy had signed on to replace him as 007.
Of course this was actually an April Fools prank and boy were there some funny reactions from fans, including Hardy himself.
One fan tweeted: “Just heard news that Daniel Craig’s quit as James Bond and Tom Hardy is [the] new Bond.
“[I] don’t know whether it’s true or just [an] April fools joke. Not sure if I should believe this news. Need confirmation #confused.”
Another said: “This Tom Hardy as the new James Bond over Daniel Craig and James Norton story better not be a[n] April fools joke [be]cause I’m screeching.
While one hoped in vain: “OMFG TOM HARDY AS THE NEW JAMES BOND I TRULY HOPE IT’S NOT AN APRIL FOOL.”
And probably our favourite tweet was: “To the person who decided to tell the world Tom Hardy was gonna be James Bond as an April Fools joke… I hope you stand on Lego!”
But then the prank got even better when Hardy himself shared a screenshot from the article, joining in on the fun.
Hardy wrote: “Dammit I was in my tux and on the runway. Gtg… no drama. RTB. Headed back to NOLA stood down 19.”
And naturally this further confused his fans, with some assuming he’d actually been cast as James Bond.
In reality Craig will shoot his fifth and final 007 movie, Bond 25, later this year for a November 2019 release.
Of course Hardy is the 3-1 favourite to replace him after that, so anything’s possible.
The star has even hinted in the past that he’d like to play Bond one day.
Last year he said: “You know, there’s a saying amongst us in the fraternity of acting, and in the fellowship of my peer group, that if you talk about it you’re automatically out of the race.
“So I can’t possibly comment on that one! If I mention it, it’s gone.”
Daniel Craig returns as James Bond for the final time in Untitled Bond 25, released in November 2019.
Today’s instalment of The One Show began by dedicating a segment to the death of Professor Stephen Hawking, who died this morning at the age of 76.
However, one guest told a story about Stephen which delighted the hosts of the programme.
BBC Science Correspondent Pallab Ghosh appeared on the show to comment on his memories of the physicist, when he made a surprise revelation.
Pallab said: “He played a huge joke on me that very first time I met him, in that we were filming an interview with him and the cameraman wanted to change the lighting.
“He [the cameraman] asked, ‘Is it alright if I unplug this?’, and without waiting for an answer he did, and all these sirens went off and I thought, ‘Oh my god we’ve unplugged something crucial to Professor Hawking’s well being’ and he slumped over.
“Then it turned out he was just laughing at our incompetence.”
Presenters Matt Baker and Michelle Ackerley then burst into laughter over the story.
Sir Andrew Lloyd-Webber also appeared as a guest on today’s instalment of the programme where he revealed he too had met Stephen.
“I did meet him a couple of times, mainly at parties,” he said. “He had a very wide taste in classical music.”
He jokingly added: “But I’m one of these people who can’t understand the concept on infinity, therefore, I’m hopeless when it comes to understanding anything he was talking about.”
However, despite the knowledge gap between them, Sir Andrew said he was “very engaging”.
The exact cause of Professor Hawking’s death remains unknown, but he suffered from ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis), a neurodegenerative disease commonly known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease.
In a statement released in the early hours of this morning, Professor Hawking’s children, Lucy, Robert and Tim said: “We are deeply saddened that our beloved father passed away today.
“He was a great scientist and an extraordinary man whose work and legacy will live on for many years.
“His courage and persistence with his brilliance and humour inspired people across the world.
“He once said, ‘It would not be much of a universe if it wasn’t home to the people you love.’ We will miss him forever.'”
The One Show continues tomorrow at 7pm on BBC One.
