Warframe has built a loyal following based around its addictive gameplay and free-to-play model.

It can be downloaded on PS4, Xbox One and PC, with a lot of new content being planned for 2018.

Sheldon Carter, COO at developers Digital Extremes, recently spoke to Express.co.uk on the game’s enduring popularity in such a saturated market.

And when asked what the key was to keeping their players happy, Carter revealed that Warframe has done well by listening to fans and revamping the game where needed.

“There are games that share similar features, but I think there is room for a great many games to co-exist,” Carter explains.

“I think that our constant schedule of updating, our semi regular revisits of old systems, and our emphasis on bringing new fresh gameplay to Warframe has something to do with it.

“Our community is filled with amazing people and I think the relationship we have with them and they have with each other is a huge factor.”

When it comes to big content coming to the game, Digital Extremes have already confirmed that a new Open-World area is being worked on for Venus.

“For us, future planning means a few things. We are always on the lookout for re-freshing the idea of Warframe, and it’s been the case that we re-fuel our creative engines in the early part of the year (Q1),” Carter adds.

“And, we are always – and I mean every single day – listening to and talking to our community.

“We juggle a lot of content, too. And so sometimes a project, we’ll call it Project A, comes together beautifully.

“And it becomes ready much faster than another project, say, Project G, which falls behind in the schedule as a result.

“We re-juggle the order of update content depending on what is coming together best.

“I guess you could say that we are always planning and assessing, and then re-prioritizing, depending on which piece of content reaches its fruition first and best. In short, we’re fluid. Very fluid.”

So what about an expansion away from in-game content and onto a new platform?

The Nintendo Switch games list has seen a lot of new ports confirmed for it, although none really fit the slot Warframe fills in the market.

So is it possible that we could see the popular free-to-play game arrive in the coming years?

According to the COO, Digital Extremes are only looking at possibilities right now, with no plans for a Warframe Switch port at the moment.

When asked if a platform like the Nintendo Switch interests the Warframe team, Carter commented: “Oh, man, personally I love my Switch!

“I have collected so many Korok Seeds in Zelda, it’s a little embarrassing. In the studio, we are playing all sorts of games on it.

“Recently Steve was playing and loving Doom. That’s a great conversion. But as for putting Warframe on Switch, that’s a tougher question.

“Like all new systems, we’re looking at and examining possibilities, but we have no current plans to put anything on the Switch.”

So while Digital Extremes aren’t completely ruling out a port, it appears that the Nintendo Switch will be out of reach for the time being.

With Black Panther already pulling in over $ 930.7 million at the box office so far, it was a foregone conclusion that there will be a sequel for the superhero king of Wakanda sometime in Marvel’s future. Thankfully, Kevin Feige has finally confirmed that Black Panther 2 will absolutely be happening. Furthermore, he also talked about the possibility of seeing certain characters from Black Panther go on their own adventures.

Even though everyone had already assumed Black Panther 2 was going to happen, this is the first time Kevin Feige has officially confirmed it. Entertainment Weekly asked him about plans for the Black Panther sequel, and he stayed vague, but confirmed they know where they’re going:

“Nothing specific to reveal, other than to say we absolutely will do that. One of the favorite pastimes at Marvel Studios is sitting around on a Part One and talking and dreaming about what we would do in a Part Two. There have been plenty of those conversations as we were putting together the first Black Panther. We have ideas and a pretty solid direction on where we want to head with the second one.”

So as much as Kevin Feige likes to say that they’re always focused on the movie they’re making, that doesn’t mean they’re not thinking about the possible story paths they could follow in sequels. So even if there wasn’t any official development, merely brainstorming and dreaming out loud about the trajectory of Black Panther helps Marvel figure out exactly where they want to go.

One thing we know for sure is that Kevin Feige wants director Ryan Coogler to come back to direct the sequel. So hopefully his schedule will be open enough for him to get back behind the camera.

Will There Be Black Panther Spin-Offs?

Even though Black Panther was always planned to have his own franchise, in some ways, it’s actually the first spin-off movie that Marvel Studios has ever done. Chadwick Boseman was first introduced as Black Panther in Captain America: Civil War before starring in his own movie, and he’s the only superhero to have been introduced in one of Marvel’s superhero assemblies before getting their own movie. Could the same thing be done within the Black Panther franchise?

Black Panther features a slew of breakout characters who fans love, especially women like T’Challa’s sister Shuri (Letitia Wright), his loyal protector Okoye (Danai Gurira) and his former lover and badass Nakia (Lupita Nyong’o). Will any of those characters ever get there own movie? Feige says:

“I think there’s lots of potential. It’s a balance between leaving people wanting more and then giving them too much, but I would watch a movie about any of those characters you just named. I think Shuri’s astounding, and you’ll see much more of her in our universe. Okoye, I think I’d watch three action films just Okoye. I’m not saying we’re doing that, but I’m saying that we’re intrigued by them. Frankly, as I’ve said before, finishing these first 22 movies is really all we’re thinking about at this point.”

Since this same interview featured Kevin Feige talking about how they were already brainstorming about the future of Black Panther while they were making the first movie, we know that finishing these 22 movies is not all they’re thinking about. But that also means they likely have an idea of how all the characters in Black Panther will pan out. So we’ll just have to be patient.

As for Black Panther 2, it’s hard to say how soon Marvel will get it off the ground. Disney just recently set a slew of new release dates through 2023, including several for unannounced Marvel Studios productions, so take your best guess as to when the sequel will arrive.

gamers have had an exciting week, with the Battle Royale map update arriving on PS4, Xbox One and PCs as part of the big V.2.2.0 patch.

The Fortnite map update added eight new locations to Battle Royale and updated existing ones, adding more detail and variety to current areas.

Patch V.2.2.0 brought with it the ‘Tilted Towers’ area, a highly anticipated city location that fans had been calling for.

One other feature that Fortnite Battle Royale fans have had high on their wishlists is vehicles.

Vehicles play a huge part in matches played in Fortnite Battle Royale’s big rival PUBG, with motorcycles, vans and pickups helping players travel the map quickly.

When Epic Games first launched the Fortnite Battle Royale free download last September, they said they were looking into adding vehicles.

The Fortnite team even said they had created prototypes for some ideas.

But since then it’s all gone quiet on the vehicles front, with no indication of whether it will get added to Fortnite Battle Royale.

But speaking to Express.co.uk, the Fortnite team have given an update – and explained how vehicles would be used in Battle Royale.

Eric Williamson, Fortnite’s Lead Systems Designer, told us: “We’ve heard a few people ask about vehicles, yeah. 

“There have been plenty of conversations about how they can fit into the game. 

“Right now we don’t see them as a necessity, but rather as an opportunity.”

Going into more detail, Eric added: “What I mean by that is, our travel distances aren’t so long that vehicles are required. 

“So if we do add them, it will be for fun and unique situational strategies.”

The comments will come as a big boost to fans hoping Fortnite will get its own PUBG-style vehicles in a new update.

But when Williamson said vehicles in Fortnite would be used for “fun and unique situational strategies”, what does he mean?

Could Fortnite toy with fan expectations and introduce something a bit silly like a push bike or tricycle, instead of PUBG-style vehicles?

Or maybe a low-powered scooter would fit in with Eric’s comments that “our travel distances aren’t so long that vehicles are required”?

Only time will tell, but with the most recent update Fortnite fans have plenty of things to get their teeth stuck into to take their minds off how vehicles would work in Battle Royale.

The Fortnite map update arrived with patch V.2.20, which was released on Thursday on PS4, Xbox One and PCs.

The patch also turned off friendly fire – so be careful where you aim!

Epic Games said this will be an “exploratory” change and will be wanting player feedback, with it subject to change.

Here are the patch notes for how Fortnite V.2.2.0 will change the game’s world:

• The map has been updated with many new points of interest, biomes, and more!

• Players now interact with grass and foliage as they walk through it.

• Added water effects when entering and exiting water.

• Added a new post-process effect for when your camera goes below the water surface.

• It will now look like you are actually underwater, and you can no longer see for an infinite distance.

• Added Ammo Boxes to Dusty Depot.

• Increased the amount of metal harvested from shipping containers.

Nissan has been pretty vocal about its forays into the uncharted future of motoring, bundling most of its emerging EV, safety, autonomy, and tech developments under the header of “Nissan Intelligent Mobility.” To date, bits and pieces of these technologies have found their way into test prototypes and to, a lesser extent, production vehicles. Now, Nissan has pulled the wraps off the IMx concept, a zero-emission electric vehicle that serves as host for many of these emerging technologies.

Unveiled at the 2017 Tokyo auto show, the IMx is built on the automaker’s new EV platform. The architecture offers a low center of gravity, all-wheel drive, and a low floor, and it’s primed for the implementation of connectivity and autonomous technologies. Nissan claims 70 percent of its EVs will use the new platform by 2022.

Motivation for the IMx is provided by a pair of electric motors, one up front and one at the rear. Together they produce 420 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque. Energy storage is handled by a new high-capacity battery of undisclosed capacity that promises a range of up to 373 miles.

Nissan’s intelligent-mobility philosophy is heavy on the social interaction aspect for both owner and vehicle. In the case of the IMx, that means a car that can drop its owner at an airport departure gate and then park itself, reversing the process when the owner returns. Should the airport’s EV charging interfaces be equipped to do so, the IMx’s battery is designed to return power to the grid under periods of heavy demand.

While certain Nissan design touches are evident, the IMx’s creases are sharper and its nose and tail treatments are far more angular than most other current Nissan products. The overall styling ethos takes inspiration from the Japanese concepts of ma (a sense of space and time) and wa (harmony), which Nissan says “expresses the coexistence of two seemingly contradictory elements—stillness and motion.” The IMx’s pearl white body is offset by vermilion accents, a color said to be inspired by uramasari, which describes the extravagant decoration found on the inner layers of traditional Japanese kimonos.

The references to traditional Japanese culture continue inside. The IMx features a panoramic OLED instrument panel that wraps around the base of the windshield and front door glass; it displays a view of the external environment in the background as if the screen was transparent. A separate, wood-grain-pattern display wraps around the interior and gives a subtle sense of the outside, similar to a shoji, a Japanese paper screen. Likewise, the pattern in the seats employs a laser-etched katanagare diagonal pattern, while the 3D-printed headrests intend to evoke a kumiki, an interlocking wood puzzle. Adding to the minimalist interior vibe is the addition of eye-movement and hand-gesture recognition for controlling the instrument panel, allowing for the elimination of most switchgear.

We’re intrigued by the IMx, but this concept is likely to remain just that—even if its technology finds its way into production Nissans.

LOS ANGELES—Maybe it was the lingering excitement from the EA press conference a few hours earlier. It could have been the long day, the jet lag from his home in Sweden, or the cup of beer on the meeting-room table which kept on getting refilled.

Whatever the reason, film and video game director Josef Fares was amped up. After being asked a softball question—”when did you team up with EA to release your upcoming game A Way Out“—Fares somehow locks eyes with all four writers in the room simultaneously.

“Let me tell you this: working with EA is great. They never tell me what to do. Super supportive. The shit people say about EA? I’ve never seen anything like that.” Fares took a drink. “If someone comes to me and says, ‘if you do this, you’ll sell one million copies more,’ my answer would be, ‘go fuck yourself.'”
