Donald Trump is expected to push the international community to embrace Washington’s hardline approach towards Tehran during a rare address at the UN Security Council – but the open-ended agenda leaves room for surprises. The US president will chair a meeting of the 15-member council, which focuses on global security issues, a day after speaking before the United Nations General Assembly, where he accused Iran of spreading “chaos, death and destruction” throughout the Middle East. The United States this month holds the presidency of the Security Council, giving Trump unfettered access to the esteemed international body – and another chance to rail against Iran. Usually the chair speaks last at council meetings, but the US leader, apparently not a believer in saving the best for last, has chosen to be the first to speak before the chamber. His remarks will be followed by addresses from French President Emmanuel Macron and British Prime Minister Theresa May. Trump’s address will mark only the third time in history that a US president has chaired a Security Council meeting – but it’s likely the first time that a former reality television star has held the gavel. Trump tweeted last week that he would “chair the United Nations Security Council meeting on Iran,” but the agenda circulated to Security Council members does not single out Iran or any other country. I will Chair the United Nations Security Council meeting on Iran next week! — Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) September 21, 2018 “The purpose of this meeting is to discuss ways the Security Council can better enforce the resolutions it has adopted… to counter the spread and use of the world’s most dangerous weapons,” it reads. Trump may use the opportunity to drum up support for US sanctions imposed on Tehran after Washington unilaterally withdrew from the 2015 nuclear deal. The accord’s remaining signatories are currently developing a payment system that would allow trade and business ventures with Iran to continue. Four of the five remaining signatories to the deal – Britain, China, France and Russia – are permanent members of the Security Council. READ MORE: Rouhani slams US for ‘authoritarian’ foreign policy, calls on Trump to return to talks However, the expanded scope of the meeting has led to speculation that Trump may also touch upon alleged chemical weapon attacks in Syria. The United States has been warning for weeks that it would hold Damascus responsible for any chemical attacks carried out in Idlib province, the last stronghold of Al-Qaeda-affiliated jihadists in Syria, and that such an attack would prompt a military response. Media reports have mused that North Korea and the Salisbury poisoning saga could also be agenda items. Obama secured binding resolutions both times he chaired the UN Security Council. It's far from clear the Trump administration has done the same legwork ahead of Trump's inaugural turn on Wednesday. He and his advisors still can't agree on the topic. https://t.co/7LxkeUnB6D — Ned Price (@nedprice) September 24, 2018 Whatever topics are brought up, it’s unclear how much Trump will be able to achieve as guest chair. Commentators have argued that his performance is unlikely to result in anything concrete. US envoy to the UN Nikki Haley has stated that there are currently no plans to adopt a resolution at Wednesday’s meeting. Trump’s General Assembly speech made headlines – and inspired viral videos – after the diplomat-filled audience was heard laughing at the US president’s boast-filled address. But should we expect the same kind of bravado and theatrics during the Security Council meeting? Haley seems to think so, telling reporters that she was “sure” that Trump’s presence will make the session the “most-watched Security Council meeting ever.” Not everyone is expecting fireworks, however. “I don’t think we will see any major intrigue in what he will say,” Russia’s UN Ambassador Vassily Nebenzia told Reuters. Republican Sen. Thom Tillis brought popcorn to a lunch meeting with top Senate Republicans and President Donald Trump on Tuesday, poking fun at the escalating feud between Sen. Bob Corker and Trump.
During an appearance on Fox Business Network on Tuesday, Tillis said he would bring popcorn to the meeting, and he followed through with the stunt, tweeting out photos of himself filling a bag from a Senate popcorn machine.

Corker, who is retiring from the Senate seat he has held since 2007, has been openly critical of Trump for the past several months and on Tuesday told reporters that Trump “has great difficulty with the truth,” is not a role model, and will be remembered most for “debasing” the nation.
Trump has lashed out at Corker repeatedly, claiming that the senator is an “incompetent” politician and a “lightweight” who declined to run for reelection after Trump refused to endorse him. (Corker says that Trump encouraged him to run and privately promised to endorse him several times.)
Tillis told Fox host Neil Cavuto that while he could not remember an instance of a president openly denigrating a member of his own party, he seemed to view the feud as a temporary distraction.
“At some point we need to get back again to the task at hand,” he said.
Tillis argued that behind closed doors and off of social media, constructive dialogue will resume.
“It’ll be interesting to watch,” Tillis said, “but you know at the end of the day I think getting people into a room and talking about it we get out of the Twitter and social media personas to people in a room who still are unified in our need to pass tax reform.”

Working with an artist like Mariah, who’s not a mover first, it’s always a challenge to get them to think physically and not just vocally. You always have to keep in mind that they’re a singer first…I wanted to give Mariah a modern push to revamp her, give her a fresher, more modern feel, make her more aware of her body and her lines, and not look like her feet hurt when she’s walking.
Emphasis mine, because damn.
]]>Whether on or off the red carpet, Hollywood stars are usually impeccably well groomed with dazzling smiles.
So when Demi Moore appeared on a US chat show last week and revealed she was missing one of her front teeth, she hit the headlines.
The actress, 54, explained that two of her teeth had broken due to stress and she now had to wear dentures.
She is not alone.
According to celebrity dentist Dr Richard Marques (wimpolestreetdental.com) it is a common problem.
“This is something I see in the clinic more and more,” says Dr Marques, whose clients include singer Rita Ora and DJ Nick Grimshaw.
“Increasingly hectic jobs and busy lifestyles lead to stress and this causes teeth grinding.”
However, stress is not the only thing that can damage your teeth.
We asked the experts for their top tips on how to save your smile.
Increasingly hectic jobs and busy lifestyles lead to stress and this causes teeth grinding
STRESS LESS
Stress can cause what is known as bruxism, clenching the jaw and grinding the teeth during sleep.
As the teeth grind against each other they are worn down, leaving them at risk of sensitivity and chipping.
In extreme cases such as Demi Moore’s, teeth grinding can cause cracking and breakage.
Dr Marques considers prevention to be key.
“It’s worth getting to the root of your stress to try to tackle it,” he says.
“Taking a break from screens and smartphones can help. And try mindfulness and breathing exercises.”
If the damage has already been done there are still steps you can take to stop the problem getting worse.
“After rebuilding any broken teeth, we then use a mould to make a bite guard which protects the teeth while you sleep,” says Dr Marques.
“Acupuncture in the jaw can relieve tension and hypnotherapy can help in some cases too.”

Cutting down on popcorn and prosecco could save your teeth
POPCORN
Popcorn has gone from snack food to superfood recently due to its low calorie content.
However, popcorn can be risky for your teeth.
If you bite down on an uncracked kernel there is a high risk of breaking or cracking a tooth.
Also, if little pieces of popcorn become stuck between teeth they can lead to infection.
Dentist Dr Sameer Patel at Elleven Dental (ellevendental. com) says regular flossing is key.
“Ensure you are flossing thoroughly at least two to three times a week to remove bacteria and dislodge trapped food such as popcorn.
“If you do not floss you are only cleaning a third of the tooth and could be at risk of tooth decay,” he says.

CHEWING ICE
After drinking a summery cocktail it can be tempting to chew the ice left in the glass.
But chewing on hard, frozen ice cubes can chip or even crack your teeth, as the pressure and sudden change in temperature can place stress on the tooth enamel, causing it to crack.
“A serious crack can result in an abscess or tooth infection,” says Dr Patel.
“It can also irritate the soft tissue inside your tooth which may result in regular toothache.
“Next time you get the urge for ice, reach for sugarless chewing gum instead to avoid stress on the enamel.”
USING TEETH AS A TOOL
If you use your teeth to remove clothes labels or twist off bottle caps, you could cause permanent dental damage.
“People often use their teeth as tools for cutting, ripping and opening various objects. However, this can cause serious stress and damage to their structure and strength,” says Dr Patel.
“Using your teeth as a tool carries the risk of fracturing one.
“When it becomes damaged, chips, fractures or cracks can appear which can cause decay and increase sensitivity.”
To prevent this from happening avoid using your teeth for anything else other than eating.

Choosing red lipsticks with a blue undertone will make your teeth appear whiter
LIPSTICK
Your lipstick shade could be making your teeth look yellow.
“Drawing on basic colour-wheel principles, if you choose orange, pink or yellow-based lipsticks, they will make your teeth appear more yellow, says Dr Mervyn Druian of the London Centre For Cosmetic Dentistry (londoncosmetic dentistry.co.uk).
“Choose reds with a blue undertone as these will make your teeth appear whiter.”
Try Mac Liptensity Lipstick in Cordovan, £17.50 (maccosmetics.co.uk), a rich berry red with blue tones, or Estée Edit Flash Photo Gloss, £10.50 (esteelauder. co.uk), which contains blue micro-pearls to help bring out the white in your smile.

Nail biting can badly damage your teeth
PROSECCO IS A NO NO
While it might be good for your waistline with fewer calories than wine, prosecco has a high carbon dioxide level, which is acidic and attacks the enamel.
“It also contains about a teaspoon of sugar per glass,” explains Dr Druian.
To combat this, alternate glasses of prosecco with still water and when drinking the water, swill it around your mouth and teeth.
DON’T NIBBLE YOUR NAILS
Nail biting is not just a bad habit, it can also badly damage your teeth.
“The muscles we use to chew are stronger than we realise and biting nails can dislodge veneers and fillings,” says dentist Dr Stanley Kay of the Harley Street Dental Clinic (harleystreetdentalclinic.co.uk).
And Dr Kay adds: “The best way to prevent this is to keep your nails short or use an unpleasant-tasting nail polish.”

There are a lot of factors at play in the host’s current bed-shitting, so in a nutshell: the voluntary departures of Megyn Kelly and Greta van Sustren, and the involuntary one of Bill O’Reilly, has left Hannity as the last man standing from FNC prime time’s Golden Age, in which hosts floated wild Obama conspiracy theories as Roger Ailes shuffled the network halls, pants around his ankles. Now, surrounded by weak second-stringers like Tucker Carlson, Greg Gutfeld, and Jesse Watters, the network’s ratings have gone into the toilet – not just due to the lack of personalities, but also because of those non-personalities’ stern refusal to cover the increasingly overwhelming scandals of the young (but Republican!) Trump administration.
In regard to Trump, Hannity (well, let’s be real here, Hannity’s people) figured the best strategy was the one that’s always worked before: deflection. So when other news networks went understandably ape-shit over Trump’s casual disclosure of classified information to visiting Russians, Hannity went with a bombshell: that the murder last year of DNC staffer Seth Rich was a nefarious act of revenge by high-powered Dems furious that he’d provided classified emails to Wikileaks. The entire story was pure fiction, of course — a totally unfoundedconspiracy theory boosted by a private investigator, Fox News regular, and general nutjob named Rod Wheeler, repeated without independent verification by a D.C. Fox affiliate, on foxnews.com, and on FNC programs, particularly Hannity. Wheeler subsequently recanted his claims after Rich’s family sent him a cease and desist letter; they also asked news outlets like Fox to stop trying to “manipulate the legacy of a murder victim in order to forward their own political agenda.” And today, the family reiterated that request, this time directly to Hannity‘s executive producer, Porter Berry.
Hard to believe I know, but Fox has chosen to ignore the dead man’s family. Reliable ol’ sack of turds Newt Gingrich (whose wife, coincidentally enough, is up for a prominent ambassadorship via Mr. Trump) vomited up the Rich conspiracy talking points for the dopes on Fox & Friends Sunday; Geraldo Rivera strapped on his tinfoil hat and laid it out on Twitter:

It’s Hannity, however, who has most flagrantly ignored the family’s requests and filled his airtime with “bombshells” and “revelations” about the Rich murder (all the while slamming “the media” for refusing to leave disgraced boss Ailes’s family “alone in their time of grief”). And how has that worked out for his show? Well, funny story: last week, for the first time in nearly 17 years, FNC came in third place in the advertiser-friendly 25-54 demo. And true to that pattern, Hannity is consistentlyrating behind CNN’s second-place Don Lemon and MSNBC’s first-place Lawrence O’Donnell. (Good thing that network’s not thinking about letting that guy’s contract expire and moving their programming to the political center, huh? Wait, what?)
But Twitter is where the Hannity #brand has really thrived. Much like his buddy Mr. Trump, the social media platform is where, freed from the shackles of his handlers and writers, we get to see the real Hannity: barely literate, laughably thin-skinned, and full-on crazy-pants. Over the past couple of days, that nuttery has centered on former Megaupload boss Kim Dotcom, who insists he has (or, most accurately, is) “the evidence” connecting Rich to Wikileaks. Of course, he also claimed he knew how to get Hillary Clinton’s deleted emails, so, y’know, grain of salt.
At any rate, the claim that this totes reliable source can prove Lumpy Hannity’s Mind-Blowing Conspiracy Theory has turned the host into a full-on Twitter Pepefrog. A brief sampling of his recent Twitter output, most of which you would expect to see in the body of a Re: FW: FW: Re: email from your grandmother’s AOL account:

We’ve also seen a real boost in engagement with his followers and fans, which is very much best social media practices:

But he’s not just tussling with fellow journos like Ms. Knight – why, he’ll engage with anyone who calls him names on Twitter, and in doing so, end up revealing that he doesn’t understand how acronyms work:

This interaction isn’t just a hilarious snapshot of a grown man making his brain juice flow; it’s also a semi-tragic peek into the life of Mr. Hannity, who was up at 11:38 on a Monday night engaging with randos on the Twittermachine. Peek into the @-replies of any semi-provocative cable news anchor, and you’ll find scores of taunts and nonsense. But you can actually imagine Rachel Maddow, Megyn Kelly, Anderson Cooper, or even Bill O’Reilly taking the time to engage with those people? Of course not. So what kind of person does?
It’s pretty embarrassing, frankly – and that was kind of the word of the day for Mr. Hannity, who was the subject of a scathing Daily Beast piece, in which several anonymous Fox News staffers were quoted cringing that Hannity’s relentless Rich crusade is “embarrassing” the network. (And Jesus, consider what it takes to embarrass Fox News.) Hannity signed off with a link to that piece, insisting he was very Not Mad Online:

Then again, perhaps he was sincere; his heart may well be untroubled, as today is the big day when Kim Dotcom makes all Hannity’s wildest liberal-murder dreams come true. In fact, Flavorwire has attained exclusive video of Mr. Hannity’s as-yet-unaired interview with Mr. Dotcom:
Panicky, rage-tweeting sycophant – or 2017’s Woodward and Bernstein in one boxy suit? Stay tuned – though, if the pattern holds, not to Fox News.
(UPDATE 2:27 pm: Shortly after the publication of this story, Fox News issued a retraction of the Seth Rich story that ran on their website. No mention was made of Mr. Hannity’s coverage.)
