You patrol your neighborhood to thwart crimes, take on missions and fend off interdimensional threats and supervillains. You’ll be able to team up with friends, as well as the likes of Spider-Man, Captain America and Wolverine. It seems you can also visit multiple alternate realities — in a virtual sense, anyway.
Niantic hopes to replicate the magic of Pokemon Go, something it’s struggled with so far, across properties like Harry Potter and Pikmin. You can register your interest on the game’s site now.

Assassin’s Creed Mirage, the next entry in Ubisoft’s long-running series, will arrive in 2023. Set two decades before the events of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, the game returns to the series’ stealth roots. Ubisoft Bordeaux said protagonist Basim would be one of the fastest free runners in franchise history – all the better to collect collectibles, right? Assassin’s Creed Mirage will be available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Amazon Luna and PC. Oh, and we might finally get a ninja Assassin’s Creed game, too.
Steam Deck owners have a new option for repairs if their device breaks. Valve has opened its own Steam Deck repair centers, which should streamline the process for fixes. Valve also points to iFixit’s guides to support people who prefer to go the DIY route. The repair centers will cover in-warranty fixes free of charge as well as repairs for damage beyond the warranty.
A judge recently ruled that Elon Musk can use the allegations made by Twitter whistleblower Peiter Zatko as part of the arguments in his countersuit against the company. As it turns out, Musk intends to use not just Zatko’s claims to win his case but also that the former Twitter executive received a settlement to get out of the $ 44 billion acquisition deal he made with the social network. Twitter and Musk will face off in a five-day trial scheduled to start on October 17th.

NASA has completed a critical repair of its next-generation Space Launch System (SLS) rocket. On Friday, engineers replaced the leaky seal that forced the agency to scrub its most recent attempt to launch Artemis 1. With the new gaskets in place, NASA plans to conduct a fueling test to verify they’re working as intended. In the dry run, engineers will attempt to load the SLS with all 736,000 gallons of liquid hydrogen and oxygen it would need during a regular flight. NASA now hopes to complete the test as early as September 17th.

It seems players can also visit multiple alternate realities — in a virtual sense, anyway.
If you're interested in checking out the game, you can pre-register on the Marvel World of Heroes website. As it often does, Niantic will soft launch the game in select markets before rolling it out more broadly.

Niantic is the king of mobile AR gaming experiences. The studio brought the world titles like Pokémon Go and the recently shuttered Harry Potter: Wizards Unite. This is the first time the team is collaborating with the Marvel franchise.
Niantic’s press release for the game describes it as “the first Marvel game where players become their own unique Marvel Super Hero,” noting that “Marvel World of Heroes breaks new ground by extending gameplay into the real world as only Niantic games can. The game is designed to be a social game experience and pits players, their friends, and their iconic Marvel Super Hero allies against Marvel Super Villains and interdimensional threats.”
The press release also states that players will create their own super identity and origin story. Once this is done, they are tasked with patrolling their neighborhoods to “foil crimes, complete Super Hero missions, and thwart interdimensional threats.” In doing this, players will level up and unlock equipment and abilities and team up with actual Marvel heroes like Spider-Man and Wolverine. What is precisely entailed in these tasks of foiling crimes and more is still up in the air.
Players can use their phones to join up with their favorite Marvel heroes in Marvel World of Heroes when it releases in 2023.

Pokemon Go servers look to be down this morning for many Trainers on iOS and Android.
Players are reporting issues signing into their accounts and accessing core features of the app.
No statement has been released by Niantic Support confirming today’s issues, meaning we don’t know how widespread they might be.
From what has been shared by Pokemon Go players, servers are struggling with sign-in requests and other issues.
This includes being able to access your account to find a blank game with missing objects and Pokemon.
One affected user reports: “I got in after a few minutes and without touching anything it said “Item cannot be used at this time”, and then my buddy disappeared.
“I’m just going to stay off for the rest of the night.”
Another adds: “Logged in okay, but nothing’s spawning, and I had just turned in my ‘evolve three bug-types’ – no clue whether my little cicada buddy went to the back of my stack (unclaimed Lotad day encounters) or off to the great beyond (without leaving a Shedinja in his place).”
Niantic is expected to release an update on today’s issues if they are not fixed quickly, the good news being that this may only be a regional issue.
MFL…
Pokemon Go Trainers have found out that more Shiny Pokemon have been added to the game as part of the Equinox Event.
Kicking off today to celebrate the start of Spring, the new Equinox celebrations will last until next week.
Pokemon Trainers have until March 26 to bag all the new bonuses that have been added, to the game, including whatever Shinies they are hunting.
Niantic confirmed last week that Grass-type Pokémon like Oddish, Exeggcute, Sunkern, and Shroomish would be appearing more frequently in the wild.
However, while many expected to see a few Shiny Oddish types to pop up, nothing has been reported yet.
What we do know is that Lunatone and Solrock have switched hemispheres and will stay in their new hemispheres after the event.
What Niantic didn’t reveal is that Shiny Solrock and Shiny Lunastone have also been added.
In another new bonus, Niantic has now permanently added two moves to the game, including Acid Spray for Arbok, Victreebel, Tentacruel, Muk, Alolan Muk, Quagsire, Qwilfish, Octillery, and Swalot.
The other attack, Leaf Tornado, has also been added for Victreebel and Shiftry.
Other Equinox bonuses include new Limited-time Grass-type Pokémon Field Research and additional Grass-type Pokémon Raid Challenges.
In terms of the new Research available in-game, players are reporting these new challenges to complete:
The Stardust boost will no doubt prove popular with Trainers, with more bonuses expected to be discovered in the near future.
Will we get a shiny Oddish in the coming days? Trainers will have to keep an eye out for any new shiny additions.
Niantic does like to add new Shiny Pokemon during events, so there’s a good chance that more rewards will be revealed soon.
Fans are a little puzzled by the choice of Shiny Pokemon and with the lack of a release reason to catch more Oddish, especially when there is no shiny to hunt.
“Before this event, I saw 20 Solrock and 38 Lunatone. I might catch a Solrock if I’m lucky during this event, but Lunatone isn’t looking good,” one user writes.
“I was hoping for a shiny Oddish, Bellsprout, or Hoppit.”
Another adds: “What an incredibly disappointing choice. Great, so now there’s a shiny out there that the vast majority of players will never see until whenever they switch them back.
“Unless they bring them together like Plusle and Minun, but then why even bother with the whole thing?
“Also, no reason to catch the hoards of Oddish and Bellsprout that are now even more common.”
A new update has made it possible to catch Smeargle in Pokemon Go, a Pocket Monster that has been missing from the game for some time.
And unlike other Pokemon, Smeargle can only be caught using one method, something that Niantic only recently added to Android and iOS.
Pokemon Go Trainers are now confirming that to catch Smeargle, you need to use the game’s new Snapshot feature.
From what has been posted so far online, Smeargle will photobomb after you have snapped multiple pictures of your Pokemon.
This should happen in the gallery mode, however, some players are reporting issues with the game crashing after they have taken a lot of pictures.
It should be noted that to use the new Snapshot feature, some Trainers may need to have ARCore installed.
Downloading this feature may take a little while and will need to be completed before you can have access to Snapshot.
Having completed this action, players can then get on their way to catching Smeargle.
HOW TO USE POKEMON GO SNAPSHOT
As mentioned above, Trainers can now select any Pokémon in their Pokémon collection to pose and take a picture of it with their camera.
Here’s the guide Niantic have posted, providing the steps needed to use the new feature.
It should be noted that Pokemon Go Snapshot is available to all Trainers above Level 5.
Trainers are reporting that Smeargle will appear on the map after you have completed the Pokemon Go Snapshot encounter.
One successful Smeargle catcher writes: “I just spammed AR photos with three different pokemon before I got it to show up, after like two pics when I switched to a fourth.
“I would just take a few pics per pokemon then switch, some people think that just spamming AR pics won’t work. For mine, I got it on the second picture with a different pokemon.
“If Meltan from Mystery Boxes can be boosted, It might be safe to assume that Smeargle can as well.”
Some Trainers are reporting that Smeargle receives the moveset of the Pokemon it photobombed, however, this has not been confirmed by everyone who has had a successful encounter.
Here’s more from Niantic, who explains more about their new Snapshot feature: “In addition to a more convenient and simplified photo setup, Trainers will notice that the Pokémon that they take photos of have a sense of presence and weight to them.
“GO Snapshot utilizes new shadows for each Pokémon, displaying a sense of size and motion as they arrive into a scene. Scale is also key, and GO Snapshot will subtly guide Trainers to find the perfect setting for Pokémon of all sizes.”
Niantic has announced a big Pokemon Go Sinnoh Stone update for Android and iOS.
Trainers will now find that they have new options when it comes to Gen 4 evolutions.
When the Sinnoh Stone first launched it came with a confirmed list of Gen 4 evolutions.
And today Niantic has officially expanded that list to include new Pokemon for the Sinnoh Stone.
The new Gen 4 evolutions that have been revealed today includes Lickitung into Lickilicky and Tangela into Tangrowth.
But wait, there’s more.
Not only will more Sinnoh Stone evolutions be discovered by fans very soon but more Gen 4 Pokemon have been released into the wild.
Cranidos and Shieldon are two of the confirmed arrivals, while fans can also expect more Sinnoh Pokemon in eggs too.
Away from the headline news, Niantic has also made some important baseline changes.
Some Pokemon have become more powerful in Raid battles, while others will now be able to learn new moves.
Here’s the latest from Niantic, who confirmed: “Did you know that some Pokémon originally discovered in the Sinnoh region evolve from Pokémon previously discovered in other regions?
“Starting today, you’ll be able to use a Sinnoh Stone to evolve Lickitung into Lickilicky, Tangela into Tangrowth, and more!
“Plus, more Pokémon originally discovered in the Sinnoh region, such as Cranidos and Shieldon, will appear in the wild for the first time!
“You may also see more Pokémon originally discovered in the Sinnoh region appearing in Eggs.
“There are also some big changes coming! You may notice that Pokémon that appear in Raid Battles are more powerful and sturdy when you challenge them. Plus, some moves that certain Pokémon know may be stronger or weaker when used in battle.
“Finally, certain Pokémon may be able to learn new moves via TM that will help them perform in battle, such as Machamp now being able to know the Rock-type move Rock Slide!”
Fans are testing out the new options and what new Sinnoh Stone evolutions might be coming soon.
“I get an error for FE Snorunt at the moment, but I have evolved 3 of the new guys,” one fan wrote online.
“I have Ambipom, LickiLicky, Tangrowth. It looks like Yanma can evolve as can FE Snorunt (It errors for me), but I am now out of Sinnoh Stones.”
More news concerning the big Pokemon Go update is expected to be found by Trainers over the coming days.
The Sinnoh region legendary Water and Dragon-type Pokemon, Palkia, is coming to Pokemon Go.
The Gen 4 beast is set to become the new Raid boss later this week and will be available to battle for a whole month.
According to a new announcement from Niantic, Palkia will be the legendary raid boss to beat, starting from tomorrow, January 29.
Palkia will be available to raid against at around 9pm in the UK, meaning most fans will have to wait until Wednesday.
The Gen 4 legendary will appear in raid battles until February 28, and will likely be replaced by another high-powered opponent.
“A new arrival to raids will test your strength in 2019!” a message from Niantic confirms.
“The Water and Dragon-type spatial Pokemon, Palkia, will join raid battles across the world from January 29.”
The Pokemon Company lists Palkia’s weaknesses as Dragon and Fairy types and also confirms that it does not evolve.
Palkia is expected to have a CP level of around 2280 during normal weather and something even higher during windy or rainy effects.
This could go as high as 2850, depending on your luck when choosing a Gym to battle in.
Rayquaza is currently rated as one of the best Raid counters to deploy against Palkia, although that Legendary hasn’t been available to catch for a while.
For those who don’t have one of those lying around, there should be plenty of alternative choices from the Dragons you have in your collection.
Dragonite is another potential pick and is a Pokemon that has been available to add to your collection for longer.
The Pokemon Go Hub has these moves as confirmed for the Pokemon Go Palkia Raid Boss:
“Draco Meteor is Palkia’s hardest move set. DM is super effective against all Dragon typed counters and makes the whole fight much harder (like 30% harder). Be very careful against this move; it will wipe you if you’re not careful.
“Hydro Pump is almost as dangerous as Draco Meteor. It deals a lot of damage, has STAB and it’s a great move in general, especially when used by a raid boss. Luckily, most counters take neutral or reduced damage from Water attacks.
“Fire Blast is Palkia’s easiest charge move, as it deals significantly less damage than Hydro Pump and Draco Meteor, plus it doesn’t have STAB effect.”
Nintendo Switch fans may have to wait until the next Direct stream event to find out all the new titles coming to the console this year.
But the one game we do know will be launched in 2019 is a new Pokemon Switch RPG.
Not to be confused with the recently launched Let’s Go Pikachu games, this next Pocket Monster project is set to be a more traditional instalment.
Fans can expect a full-blooded Pokemon experience arriving in the second half of 2019.
But while fans are ready to learn more about the new game, Nintendo hasn’t been shared tons about it.
The latest news about the upcoming project was shared by CEO of the Pokemon Company, Tsunekazu Ishihara.
He revealed that the new Pokemon game for Nintendo Switch was proving a challenge to develop.
Speaking to Dime, the CEO confirmed that the Switch’s unique hybrid design meant creating a different sort of game.
Being able to play on a TV or as a handheld experience means that gameplay has to be good enough however fans are playing the new game.
Ishihara also confirmed that challenge might have been underestimated when it first came to planning for the new Nintendo Switch release.
The CEO is reported to have said that it was five times harder than what was expected.
However, this doesn’t mean things are going badly with the development of the new Pokemon experience, only that the team are having to work in ways not first thought of.
Game Freak recently shared an annual statement revealing that they want to surprise fans with their next title.
No further details of what that might have been was shared in the statement, but it does bode well that creative minds are taking on the challenge.
Rumours have been shared online that the new Pokemon RPG could be pushed to 2020.
This would create a massive hole in Nintendo’s release cycle but would come with a reported upside.
The scale the Game Freak team are putting into to the new project is large and will reportedly mean a bigger game releasing.
However, these remain just rumours and should be taken with a big pinch of salt.
Another game that Nintendo fans are hoping to see more of in 2019 is Metroid Prime 4.
And it would certainly prove massive news if the game was revealed to be launching in the coming months.
A new leaked release date for Metroid Prime 4 surfaced this week, suggesting just that.
A new retail listing from Europe for Metroid Prime 4 says the Nintendo Switch game will be in stock on November 29 2019.
This could simply be a placeholder, but it does seem to be a very exact date for the the Switch game to come in stock.
If that is the date Metroid Prime 4 is coming out, it will give Ninty plenty of time to announce a release for this year and build excitement for it.
It’s rumoured that Metroid Prime 4 is being developed by Bandai Namco – not Retro Studios who made the first three Prime games.
Development of Metroid Prime 4 is being headed up by Kensuke Tanabe, who was co-producer on the original game and a producer on Metroid Prime 2 and 3.
Pokemon Go has enjoyed an incredibly successful 2018 and the game’s popularity shows no signs of slowing.
In addition to critical acclaim, the multiplayer game has earned commercial success, in part thanks to Pokemon Go developer Niantic’s strategy of drip-feeding a steady rollout of fresh content.
So although Pokemon Go is free to download, the aggregate of in-app payments have added up, earning Niantic a fortune in the process.
Pokemon Go reportedly made an estimated £625million ($ 795million) in revenue worldwide last year.
This represents a 35 percent jump in revenue over its first full year.
American players ploughed the most cash into Pokemon Go in 2018, sinking roughly £206 million ($ 262million) in the augmented-reality game over the last 12 months.
And Japanese players were unsurprisingly following close behind, spending approximately £188million ($ 239million).
The amount spent daily in Pokemon Go was also well up over 2018, with Pokemon Go raising an average of about £1.7million ($ 2.2million) per day for Niantic.

And Pokemon Go players also splashed more than £59million ($ 75million) on the game in the month leading up to Christmas.
These amazing numbers are primarily due to Niantic’s strategy of a regular succession of new Pokemon, plus live events and exciting features.
Niantic introduced the Community Days earlier last year, providing players with the paid-for opportunity to catch Pokemon and learn exclusive moves for a limited period each month.
Niantic additionally implemented a whole host of new features in the game.
These included the eagerly-anticipated friends list and trading, while PvP trainer battles – featuring the ability to fight friends in real life – launched only last month.
And the fan-favourite Adventure Sync, tracking distance travelled even when idle, also appeared last year.
Pokemon Go’s latest addition is the Adventure Sync Hatchathon.
The Pokemon Go Adventure Sync Hatchathon is available until January 15 and allow players to earn double the normal amount of Stardust and Candy for hatching Eggs.
The January Community Day is about to take place and will star the Gen 2 starter Totodile.

Niantic last December announced the Beyond Reality Developer Contest, promising a prize to win a portion of a $ 1million pool.
Niantic’s contest challenges teams to build “an impactful geospatial AR play experience with the Niantic Real World Platform“.
Application phase sees Niantic will select ten teams with the best technical background, programming proficiency and all-round skills.
And the later Development phase will provide ten team with access to the Niantic Real World Platform.
Finalists will work for a three-month period, with the goal of showing off their incredible work at a Demo Day in San Francisco.
