By some improbable fluke of physics, a speeding car went airborne and plowed into the second floor of a California office building. The bizarre crash left two people injured.

The vehicle became partially wedged in the side of a dental office building after it hit a road divider in the Orange County city of Santa Ana shortly before 5:30am, Sunday.

Orange County Fire Authority (OCFA) posted images of the unbelievable scene online, revealing a white sedan firmly stuck in the building.

The fire authority initially reported that one person was still trapped inside the vehicle while another person had escaped from the car.

According to an eyewitness report to NBC Bay Area News, the driver freed himself but was left dangling off the bottom of the vehicle until rescue crews helped him down.

An hour later the OCFA reported that both victims had been extricated with only minor injuries. The crash also caused a small blaze that was quickly extinguished by fire crews.

The Santa Ana Police Department said in a statement that the vehicle was driving at high speed at the time of the crash. Police said the driver had admitted to using narcotics and was taken to hospital for observation.

LA County Fire removed the vehicle from the structure following an assessment of the integrity of the structure by Public Works.

A driverless train on the New Delhi Metro has crashed during test run, with a carriage plowing through a depot wall. An inquiry has been launched, with metro officials citing “human error” as the main cause of the incident.

The new automatically-operated train was being tested on Delhi’s Magenta Line on Tuesday. At some point its brakes became disengaged, and the train rolled and crashed into a station wall, local media reports. As a result, it plowed through the wall, “barely missing crashing to the ground,” according to NDTV.

There were no people on board, and no one was reported injured in the incident. However, two carriages of the train were badly damaged.

Metro officials have ordered an inquiry into the incident, and blamed it on “human error and negligence.” In a statement, they said maintenance staff in charge of the train had failed to test the brake system. “While the train was moving up the ramp for washing, it rolled back and hit the adjacent boundary wall,” the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation said.

The part of the line with the new self-driving train is scheduled to launch in less than a week, with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi set to open it. Despite the incident, the launch will go ahead as planned, metro officials said.

At least two young children have been killed and scores injured after a 52-year-old woman crashed her Toyota Kluger into a primary school in southwest Sydney.

Two eight-year-old boys were rushed to a hospital in critical condition but died from cardiac arrest after the sports utility vehicle smashed through the wooden wall of Banksia Road Primary School, police confirmed. Three other pupils, all girls aged eight and nine, were also brought to the hospital with injuries. They remain in serious or stable condition.

Another 16 children and their teacher were treated on the spot for minor injuries. Police said there were 24 primary-age children in the class when the collision happened on Tuesday morning.

Footage from the scene showed the Toyota completely inside the classroom after it smashed through its wooden wall.

“Obviously, it was a scene of carnage,” New South Wales Ambulance Superintendent Stephanie Radnidge told reporters outside the school.

Authorities have detained the driver, who was uninjured in the crash, and have taken her to the hospital to conduct blood and urine tests. The driver allegedly lost control of the vehicle while either exiting the school grounds or trying to park the Toyota.

“We have a 52-year-old local woman who is with police at this time. She’s cooperating with blood and urine testing and the processes that accompany that investigation,” Acting Assistant Commissioner Stuart Smith told reporters. “We’re not looking this as an intentional act. It is a crash investigation.”

FDNY Commissioner Daniel Nigro said the deceased woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities said her 13-year-old sister was among the injured victims.

Nigro said four patients were also taken to hospitals with “various traumatic injuries.”

“None of the four are right now likely to perish,” Nigro said. “Conditions can change. We’re very hopeful, the fact they were treated here quickly and removed quickly, that they will survive.”

Three other people received serious injuries and 15 others received minor injuries, Nigro said.

At least 12 people are in “critical condition,” with more feared injured after a truck crashed into a dense crowd of participants of the Endymion parade in New Orleans, police said.

“Initial reports show so far about a dozen people are in critical condition,” New Orleans police said in a statement.

According to local media outlet The Advocate, up to 21 people have been injured as a result.

The car, described by eyewitnesses as a “silver truck,” apparently collided with another vehicle, then plowed into the crowd.

The incident occurred at 6:45pm local time at the junction of Orleans and North Carrollton avenues, WVUE reported.

Kourtney McKinnis, an eyewitness to the incident, told the Advocate that the driver appeared unable to comprehend his actions.

“He was just kind of out of it,” she told the outlet.

Official now assume the driver was drunk, the media outlet adds.

The suspected perpetrator has been detained, local media reported.
