Bluehole Inc has confirmed that the PUBG server status will be down tonight for around three hours.

The new maintenance has been scheduled so that a new build of the game can be deployed.

WILL PUBG ON XBOX ONE BE AFFECTED?

Bluehole have not said anything about a new PUBG Xbox One update being launch tonight so there shouldn’t be any problems on console.

HOW LONG Is PUBG DOWN TONIGHT?

As stated above, PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds PC players will be unable to play for around three-hours, with the maintenance period scheduled to start at around 2am, GMT.

“PC players, our live servers will go down for maintenance for 3 hours at Feb 21 6PM PST / Feb 22 3AM CET.

“We will be moving the latest test build from the test servers to the live ones. Thank you for your understanding.”

This should mean that PUBG is down until around 5am in the UK, and until 9pm, PST.

There’s of course the chance that the game will be down longer than first scheduled, which actually happens quite a lot.

Hour-long extensions are common, so fans should be prepared to lose further game time tonight.

After the new PUBG Server maintenance period, a new Battlegrounds update will be made available to download on PC.

This will include new loot crates, as well as further performance optimisations being made to the game.

The new paid crate (FEVER) can be obtained separately from the “weekly crates” screen with the Early Bird key which is purchasable in the Steam market.

The new free crate (MILITIA) has a 40% drop rate. Drop rates for previous crates are shown below:

  • SURVIVOR: 10%
  • WANDERER: 10%
  • BIKER: 20%
  • DESPERADO: 20%
  • MILITIA (New): 40%

Bluehole points out that some players will be able to find the whole set in a single crate if they are lucky.

“As with the Gamescom Invitational Crate, you can get the whole set along with a single item when opening the FEVER crate if you are lucky,” the post continues.

“Keys and BPs will be given out for testing the new crates and items. However, test server inventory will not be carried over to the live servers.

The FEVER crate contains new items inspired by the fashion of the 1970s and 1980s.

The MILITIA crate, meanwhile, introduces the Erangel resistance force outfit and the Miramar frontiersman outfit.

Bluehole explains more in a new blog post: “FEVER crate with the strong feeling of spring can be purchased with BP and unlocked with Early Bird keys.

“MILITIA crate, which will allow you to show off your combat outfit, is dropped randomly among the four existing crates, and it is free. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to get new outfits!”

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds has left the Early Access program for unfinished games on Steam, and now esports organizations want to see if they can make it into a major draw. Global Loot League is leading that charge with a PUBG season that comes with $ 50,000 in prize money. That is one of the larger prize pools from a third-party league running the last-player-standing shooter.

GLL’s PUBG league kicks off with qualifiers February 2. This event is open to anyone who wants to test their abilities and thinks they can make the cut in the 80-team league. Of course, you may have some competition considering that PUBG has 30 million players worldwide on PC.

GLL’s preseason is on right now, and it usually has more than 500 people watching at one time. It is working in a space alongside other esports organizations running the game, like PUBGOnline.

This isn’t GLL’s first attempt at a PUBG league. The company experimented with it last year with invitational events. Now, it is taking what it learned and applying that to something bigger.

“We saw the potential with the early adopters, quickly realizing this game had a clear potential to become one of the biggest esports titles in the world,” GLL esports boss Simon Sundén said. “It turns out we were right about that.”

PUBG GLL will have European and North American divisions. Regular season matches will go live every Wednesday from GLL’s Stockholm studio.

“Now anyone, anywhere in the world will have a chance to qualify for the regular season with all the pro teams,” Sundén. “We’re also proud to announce that there will be much more at stake than just the glory.”

PUBG on PS4 is still a very much wanted game release and could be one of 2018’s big launches.

While it may sound strange putting Battlegrounds next to titles like Red Dead Redemption 2, the latest stats cannot be underestimated.

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds has peaked with a massive 3,106,358 concurrent players on the PC platform.

That’s a huge Steam jump and doesn’t even include the numbers currently playing PUBG on Xbox One.

To put those numbers into perspective, the game broke DOTA 2’s previous high of 1,291,328 users back in September, and has shown no signs of slowing down.

In a recent interview, Chang Han Kim, CEO of PUBG Corp, confirmed that the PUBG PS4 release is still pretty far away.

He also told Invenglobal.com that PlayStation’s lack of an early access program means that there will be further limits on when it may reach the PS4 console.

“As it’s going to be an exclusive title on Xbox One for some time, we’d like to focus on completing the Xbox One PUBG for now,” Kim revealed. 

“If we have the opportunity, the final goal would be to launch the title on every platform.

“Early Access on Steam and Game Preview on Xbox One are like pre-release, so they don’t have a restriction on quality. However, PS is very strict about this. There were cases where a game took 6 months more to launch even when it was already completed. 

“We are still in the stage of learning the console development environment and console gamers’ taste. 

“We need to think about other platforms after evaluating and completing the Xbox One version first.”

From what was said here, it would make sense that PUBG on PS4 will not be arriving until it’s completed on Xbox One.

And there’s currently no set release date for the Xbox One either, meaning it could a solid amount of time before we see talk of a fully playable PS4 version.

The news comes as PUBG developer Bluehole releases another new patch on Xbox One.

The new Battlegrounds update gives players new ways to enjoy Squad mode.

The Xbox One version of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds can now play Squad mode as a one, two and three person team without matchmaking.

The patch, which is available now, doesn’t require a game update and won’t take the game offline.

The latest patch follows a recent update that addresses in-game lag.

“We have deployed a small patch to reduce the character position readjustment issue and further reduce intermittent in-game lag,” Bluehole explains.

The developer also released a server side patch that addresses an in-game crash.

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds has earned a chicken dinner of its own by launching out of the Early Access portal for unfinished games and onto “big boy” Steam with its 1.0 update. This jump introduces a number of obvious improvements and subtle polish, but is it enough to call this a “finished” game? Well, I think so, but I asked Brendan Greene, PlayerUnknown himself, just to make sure.

“We get to go to 1.0, which is incredibly exciting,” Greene told GamesBeat. “It’s been a long road. It’s like a milestone — and yeah, we got there.”

And, most important, The PUBG Corporation passed that milestone before the end of 2017, which is something Greene promised earlier this year. In an interview with Rock Paper Shotgun, he called it a “matter of honor.” Greene kept his word and launched a PUBG with a new, excellent map set in Latin America. It also has improved physics for shooting, traversing, and driving. And, of course, you can now leap over walls and other obstacles. All of that is on top of a slicker, more professional-looking user interface that does a lot to improve the quality-of-life for players.

This is a significant improvement over the Early Access version that players have spent the last several months with, and a big reason for that is because The PUBG Corp switched to a newer version of Unreal in the middle of production. So as it was preparing its 1.0 launch, it focused efforts into improving and optimizing that game while putting fewer resources into a fork of PUBG that it was about to leave behind.

“Pushing the improved game live, which everyone internally was working on, just wasn’t an option because of crashes and stability,” said Greene. “The live version was relatively stable. It’s lacking features, obviously — but it’s stable. And with over 3 million concurrent players, the game on live has to be stable.”

But now the new version is stable, and it does run great. Beyond any additional content or UX shine, PUBG just runs so much better than before. And all of that adds up to a game that looks and feels like it really is finished.

So yeah, that question — is this thing done now? Well, the answer to that is no. Of course not. Greene and his crew are only just getting started.

“This is not the end of development,” said Greene. “Over the next year, we’re going to be polishing the systems and look how we can improve character movement, weather effects, and terrain to really round it out. But with 1.0, it’s about getting to feature complete. We’ve got everything that we said we want into the game. Now, we get a chance to round it out and polish it off.”

And that sounds wonderful to me. I’m already feeling a bit nostalgic for the janky, older version of PUBG that I’ve spent the most time with, but the development team is continually making it better. And if it improves at this pace going forward, I’ll keep chasing those chicken dinners.

UPDATE ONE: As confirmed by Bluehole Inc. earlier today, the PUBG server status is now down for both the normal game and test servers.

More information on the PUBG 1.0 release schedule can be found below, along with when maintenance will end and how long it wall last on Steam.

ORIGINAL: PUBG servers are going down today for quite a long period of maintenance.

Developers Bluehole Inc. warned players earlier this week that the popular Steam and PC game would be offline for some hours.

This is for the PUBG 1.0 release, which will bring the title out of early access and includes a lot of new updates and features.

The official PUBG server downtime period begins at around midnight GMT, and will last for around seven hours.

“To ensure a successful and smooth launch, we have altered the PC 1.0 maintenance schedule,” a message from Bluehole Inc reads.

“It will start 2 hours earlier but end at the same time as before. Thank you for your understanding.”

OFFICIAL SCHEDULE:

– Start: Dec 20 4PM PST / Dec 21 1AM CET

– End: Dec 20 11PM PST / Dec 21 8AM CET

During this time, PUBG will be unavailable to play on both the normal and test servers.

There’s also the chance that this maintenance period could be extended, especially with how large this rollout could prove to be.

It should also be noted that there will be the added chance of server instability afterward, with it likely that many will want to try out the full version of the game, straight away.

Bluehole have also provided more details on the new leaderboard season, which will start with the PC 1.0 update.

The development say they are making changes to the way rank is displayed. This is how the new leaderboard system will work:

  • Places 1 to 1000 – same as before, number based rank
  • Below 1001 – percentage based rank
  • If a player has not played enough matches or does not have a sufficient score, their rank will not be displayed.

“We expect these changes to improve the leaderboard stability and rank update delay.

“Besides, we think that the new system makes for better readability in terms of understanding one’s relative position compared to the rest of the players.

“We will of course keep improving and implementing new features for the leaderboard system in the coming months.”

Version 1.0 will introduce climbing and vaulting, which are said to severely change the game.

Players will be better able to escape from danger and potentially sneak up on enemies hidden indoors.

The newly revealed Miramar map, meanwhile, will provide players with new gameplay strategies.

Other big changes coming with PUBG 1.0 will be the ability to choose between maps, as well as view the new killcam to help improve gameplay, and also spot cheaters.
