Commentator Andrew Pierce noted that writer Gyles Brandreth was aware of Prince Philip’s feelings towards Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s interview. While speaking on Good Morning Britain (GMB) Mr Pierce insisted Prince Philip was not hostile towards the couple. He claimed Prince Philip thought Prince Harry was a good man and was fine with his decision to step down as a senior royal. According to Mr Brandreth, Prince Philip was hopeful the pair would talk about other important issues due to their platform. Mr Pierce said: “You would think Prince Philip would be raging about this interview. “But Gyles Brandreth has known Prince Philip for 40 years, they worked together in the playing fields association. DON’T MISS: Royal Family LIVE: Expert unveils ‘final straw’ for Prince William “He wrote a fantastic book about Prince Philip and the Queen’s marriage and he had great access to them. “He said Prince Philip was okay about Prince Harry going away, he has got to lead his own life.” Mr Pierce explained how Prince Philip felt about the interview between Meghan, Harry and Oprah. He said: “Prince Philip said he was a good man and of the interview what he said was, I don’t think they should be talking about themselves all the time. Prince Harry is expected to be at Prince Philip’s funeral on Saturday as the Duke is reported to be in the UK quarantining Due to being pregnant, Meghan Markle will not be joining her husband as she was reported not have been given the green light from her doctors to travel. Tensions have been high between Prince Harry and the Royal Family, especially brother Prince William, following his interview with Oprah Winfrey. However, the Dukes are expected to put aside their differences and walk side by side during the funeral. “Of course he’s not going to please all his own party, he can’t please all his own country, he’ll never please Femi because Femi is passionate about remaining in the European Union,” Pierce added. “The deal is done and most people will wake up this morning and be relieved that’s the case.” Oluwole replied: “It’s funny that you mention public consent. As I mentioned you’ve got many contingents of those who voted Brexit who oppose the deal, DUP, the Brexit Party…” Interrupting, Pierce said: “We had a referendum in 2016…” Viewers have been left worrying that Marlon is set to be framaed for the murder after threatening the dodgy dealer. Marlon has been fighting to keep his son Leo in the village after learning that Graham and Rhona were moving to France. Rhona recently blamed Marlon when Leo’s passport went missing, leaving the chef furious and looking for a way to stop them moving away. But, Marlon went on a step further this week as he threatened Graham – but did anyone see him and will he be blamed for the murder? Neighbours viewers already know that Chloe (played by April Rose Pengilly) gets paid to run a dating service, but now it seems evident that Pierce (Tim Robards) will be her next client. Chloe has caught the attention of the “charming” newcomer, but will be left wondering if she has been paid for sex by Pierce. The pair were introduced to each other at Lassiters, where Chloe “instantly impressed” Pierce. However, Chloe will shut Pierce down when he wants to take things further. Normally, Chloe’s Cash For Company business doesn’t involve physical contact, but Pierce seems to have got his way. Chloe will be tempted by his money, but rejects his offers in the end. Just days later, Chloe will help Pierce organise a wine-tasting event and gives him a hug, but the pair soon jump into bed together. He then delivers an expensive necklace and bottle of wine to her. Does this count as a transaction? Chloe had initially believed they had slept together “for fun”, but Pierce’s delivery seems like a payment. This will prompt her to urgently seem Elly Conway’s (Jodi Anasta) advice to clear up the situation. She will suggest to Chloe about setting up ground rules, but will she heed Elly’s advice? It comes after the hotel staff were instructed to be on their best behaviour for Pierce’s arrival. The staff have been warned that Pierce could offer them a lucrative contract which would secure their jobs in the long run. Leo Tanaka (Tim Kano) personally warned Chloe that Pierce should not find out about her dating service in case it loses them the contract. Pierce could potentially be “morally opposed” to her paid service, meaning it would be “crucial” for Pierce to not find out. However, in a Neighbours twist, Pierce found one of Chloe’s business cards lying around. Much to Leo’s horror, Pierce approached Chloe about it after finding out, believing her to be the mastermind behind the idea. Chloe was left distraught, fearing she had ruined everything to do with the business contract with Lassiters. The character was then seen to beg Pierce not to let her business cards affect his thoughts about the company. In an unexpected storyline and to Chloe’s surprise, Pierce actually wanted to book a date himself. Neighbours airs on Channel 5 at 1.45pm and 5.30pm. When Daniel Craig became James Bond in 2006’s Casino Royale, the gritty spy thriller was a far cry from the franchise’s last outing Die Another Die. Brosnan had bowed out in 2002 with a camp, silly affair involving an invisible car and cheesy one-liners. That same year the first Jason Bourne movie was released, a much more serious take on the spook genre. And its films like these that Brosnan now blames not only for his contract ending as Bond but the franchise’s current lack of humour. Speaking with The Rake, the 65-year-old actor said: “I knew there had been a seismic shift [with films like The Bourne Identity], and little did I know I was going to be part of that in the curtain falling on my contract. “I knew they had to make adjustments. They had strong competition and they haven’t reinvented it, but given it a much more muscular, dynamic twist. “When I played [Bond], you have to let the audience in that this is a fantastic joke. “What I am doing here, jumping off a motorcycle and catching up a plane, is completely preposterous.” Back in June Brosnan admitted that apart from Goldeneye, his Bond was never good enough. Speaking with Daily Mail, he said: “I was caught between Sean Connery’s Bond and Roger Moore’s Bond, and it was only really in GoldenEye that I did my Bond.” The 65-year-old also explained how he had “issues for many years” having been dropped from the role, after 2002’s Die Another Day, by a teary Barbara Broccoli over the phone. Nevertheless he’s much more positive about his time as 007 sixteen years since he left the role. Brosnan added: “Now I just have great feelings about Bond. “I loved the irony of being an Irishman playing this quintessential English character. I love what it did for me as an actor.”
More surprising was the man for whom it was raised.
Capitalizing on the stunning elimination of defending Commonwealth Games champion Damian Warner (the leader through seven of 10 events no-heighted in the pole vault) fellow Canadian, and Games rookie, Pierce LePage posted a personal-best overall score to take the silver medal behind Grenada’s Lindon Victor.
Less than 24 hours after his attention-grabbing medal win, the 22-year-old is moving a bit slow, sore from a tough couple of competition days. Emotionally, though, he’s jumping for joy.
“I don’t think it’s really sunk in yet. I’ve kind of taken everything really slow,” LePage says from a patio seat in the athletes’ village, still beaming. “When I finished it felt amazing. I’ve never been in a stadium or a Games like that where there are so many people cheering for you and rooting for you.
“It’s a surreal experience, winning your first international medal on a big stage. It’s something you’ll always remember.”
National team coach Jeff Huntoon says the entire Athletics Canada team is thrilled with LePage’s rapid progress.
“Everybody’s just ecstatic with the development,” Huntoon says. “For me, it was watching [LePage’s] composure over all 10 events, just staying in there and continuing to grind. It was a great effort over two days.”
It hasn’t been your typical path to track and field glory for the native of Whitby, Ont., a suburb of Toronto.
“My whole track and field story is a little weird,” LePage says.
He started with the triple jump in elementary school and competed in it until high school, when he decided he wanted to start training in more events but was told he was too young.
But by the end of his Grade 11 year, LePage began working with his current personal coach, Gregory Portnoy. When Portnoy thought LePage was ready, he wanted the young athlete to broaden his horizons, not just focus on one discipline.
“I ended up being OK at everything, and one day he was like ‘Hey, Pierce, you want to do an octathlon?’ I didn’t know what I was getting myself into,” LePage says, laughing.
What he got into was a life that revolves around training, which he does six days a week with the aim of practising two of the 10 decathlon events each day. LePage also works part-time at the York University facility where he trains and lives just off campus.
Huntoon credits LePage’s dedication for his success at the Commonwealth Games.
“You usually exude [composure] when you’ve got that going pretty well, daily, in practice. Having been a part of that, kind of watching the progress at York where they train everyday, it’s been fun for me to watch.”
Though not on the radar of many casual track and field fans, LePage has been making a steady climb. He broke the Canadian junior decathlon record in 2015 and won the decathlon title at the 2017 Canadian track and field championships after Warner declined to compete as he prepared for the upcoming world championships.
Another key moment in his development came thanks to LePage’s victory in the RBC Training Ground competition in Toronto in 2016. As part of his prize, he was sent to the Rio Olympics to get a first-hand look at the life of an Olympic athlete.
“Actually winning and going to experience Rio was something amazing,” he says. “Now that I’m in a Games experience, being in Rio helped me prepare for all of that — the atmosphere and the craziness of being in the Games.”
When he has some down time, LePage enjoys playing video games, specifically the esports favourite League of Legends.
“If I’m not training, I’m playing video games. That’s what I did before track, and that’s what I do when I’m not on the track,” he says. “I’m a huge advocate for esports. I think it’s the future.”
LePage is also interested in criminal law. He completed one year of a law and society undergrad program at York before putting it on the backburner to focus on training.
“Balancing track and doing school… at the time it was too much for me,” he says. “It was too much, too stressful, so I ended up taking a break and I think the plan is to go back next year with a lighter course load.”

Now that he’s got a major medal win under his belt, LePage has his next two goals in the crosshairs: the world championships in Qatar in 2019 and the Olympics in Tokyo in 2020.
“For me, the Commonwealth Games were a stepping stone for worlds next year, and worlds are a stepping stone for the Olympics.”
But right now it’s time for a break. LePage will try to recover from a tough competition by enjoying the Commonwealth Games experience, living in the athletes’ village and cheering on his Games roommate, Deryk Theodore, in the pole vault.
Since he spends his time training alone, the team atmosphere is the one thing — aside from the medal, of course — that LePage has enjoyed most in Australia.
“If I’m being honest, it’s better than where I live,” he says of his setup in the village. “I’m going to watch [Theodore] pole vault tomorrow, then hopefully after that we’ll go do something.
“Maybe hit the beach.”

Lucifer gets more than he bargained for when he pays Chloe a weekend visit in this exclusive sneak peek.
D.J. Pierce (aka Shangela Laquifa Wadley) returns to the RuPaul’s Drag Race stage on Thursday (VH1, 8/7c) for another season of All Stars — and he’s been busy since we last saw him.
In addition to his work on the big screen — he even appears in Lady Gaga’s upcoming A Star Is Born remake — Pierce has guest-starred on a handful of sitcoms and dramas since debuting on television in 2010. From having a kiki with Sarah Jessica Parker on the set of Glee to helping Scully and Mulder solve an out-of-this-world crime on The X-Files, Pierce has found considerable success on the small screen, giving all the glory to… black-ish‘s Jenifer Lewis, believe it or not.
“I’ve lived in her basement for seven years, and I’m not leaving until she throws me out,” Pierce says. He worked as her assistant when he moved from Texas to Los Angeles, but after appearing on Drag Race, he was bumped up to housemate status. “I get a daily master class in Jenifer Lewis, and that’s been so special to me. If I haven’t prepared for something, she’ll ball up the script and throw it at me. She’ll say, ‘You’re not ready for this! Go downstairs and work on it.’”
So before Pierce returns to RuPaul’s runway, we invited him to sashay down memory lane, reliving a handful of the small-screen gigs he’s snatched since appearing in Season 2 (and Season 3!) of Drag Race.

Make no mistake, Tom Welling knew exactly what he was getting into when he signed on for Season 3 of Fox’s Lucifer, where it took a full 10 episodes to reveal his seemingly humdrum character’s true identity.
To portray Lucifer’s iteration of the biblical Cain, “I brushed up on his story a little, to try to get into the mind of the character — what his motivations are and his take on what happened with Abel, because we’re taking some liberties here,” Welling says. “I was trying to understand a guy who killed his brother and doesn’t feel like he did the wrong thing. I kinda had to search for that a bit!”
As series lead Tom Ellis himself previewed in the immediate wake of the reveal, Lucifer will form an “odd bromance” with Pierce/Cain as the men ally to kill two birds with one stone. “Lucifer’s goal is to get back at his dad and get rid of his wings, and Cain’s biggest desire is to die,” Ellis told TVLine. And to that end, “Lucifer decides he’s going to help [Cain] do that and defy his father by lifting the curse somehow.”
Adds Welling, “Yeah, we’ve got some episodes coming up that really highlight that whole experience between Pierce and Lucifer, because they become ‘partners in crime,’ so to speak.”

NBA Countdown
January has been full of drama in the NBA and it continued on Wednesday night as Jalen Rose called Paul Pierce “petty” to his face on ESPN’s “NBA Countdown” for the way he had handled his now somewhat infamous feud with Isaiah Thomas.
By the look on his face, Pierce was not expecting, nor appreciative, of Rose’s critique.
Pierce tried to defend his stance, arguing that there would be tributes to him throughout the game of his time with the team, saying, “Now you’re taking another two minutes of memories off the tabl. But the rest of the “NBA Countdown” crew was having none of it.
“Can I tell you something about your birthday?” Rose asked. “It ain’t only your birthday. A lot of people’s birthdays happen that night.
The whole affair started when the Boston Celtics wanted to honor Thomas for his time with the team when the Cavaliers played in Boston earlier in January. Thomas requested that the Celtics not play his tribute that night, as he was sitting out the game and wanted his family to be in attendance for the occasion. The Celtics obliged, and said that they’d push back the tribute until the next time the Cavaliers came to town.
Unfortunately, the next game the Cavaliers had in Boston was already scheduled to be the night the Celtics retired Paul Pierce’s jersey. Pierce publicly came out against the idea of them both being honored on the same night.
“I’m not saying Isaiah shouldn’t get a tribute video,” Pierce said at the time. “But on February 11, the night I get my jersey retired, I’m not sure I want to look up at the Jumbotron and see Isaiah highlights.”
Since then, a feud of ego and pettiness brewed, with Pierce insisting that the night be his, even going as far as discussing the matter with Celtics president Danny Ainge to ensure he was the sole focus of the night.
“Danny and I talked about it for 40 minutes,” Pierce told ESPN’s Chris Forsberg on Tuesday. “He told me, ‘This is what we have planned,’ and at the end of the conversation, he said, ‘If you don’t want us to do Isaiah, we won’t.’ So I told him, ‘I really don’t.’ So that was it.”
After Pierce’s comments, Thomas tweeted out on Tuesday night that he wished for the Celtics to once again forego his tribute and instead honor Pierce for the entirety of the night.

I’d like to thank the Celtics for their gracious offer to play a video tribute on Feb 11th celebrating my 3yrs in Boston. But since it appears this has caused some controversy w/ Paul Pierce’s night I’d ask the Celtics instead to focus all of their attention on #34’s career.
In the end, it appears that Pierce got his way, but he got it at the cost of getting called out as “petty” by Jalen Rose on national television.
We’ll see how the whole situation finally shakes out when the Cavaliers travel to Boston on February 11.
