The support to see Piers Morgan sacked from his presenting role on Good Morning Britain has doubled recently. His interview style has been criticised recently after several politicians went head to head with him to discuss the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. While he said he was “challenging them” and “holding them accountable”, claims of “bullying” have been raised. And some viewers have been so unhappy with the way in which Piers has conducted themselves that they have taken to signing a petition to see him booted off the show.

A few months back, a petition was created calling for Piers to be removed from GMB, it gained 21,000 signatures at the time and Piers even discussed the campaign about himself on the show. 

But following a string of car-crash interviews between the morning chat and news show and the presenter, the support for the campaign has doubled. 

So far, 51,150 people have signed the petition.

Express.co.uk has contacted GMB and a representative for Piers for comment.

It comes after his interview with Andrew Bridgen MP where he was accused of “humiliating” the politician. 

Piers accused the Conservative representative of being “full of excuses” and “not having a clue”. 

Following his appearance on ITV, Bridgen appeared on Talk Radio and he said after being “shouted at” by Piers, he “won’t be going back” onto the show. 

“I’ll have a little bet, he won’t be fronting that programme by Christmas… his ratings are going to keep plummeting,” Bridgen added. 

The producer for GMB recently revealed the viewing figures for the show compared to its rival BBC Breakfast. 

“BBC & ITV use BARB to record viewing figs. Since our respective COVID crisis coverage started in Wk 13 (23rd March) @GMB has grown already flourishing audience further 14% or 104K viewers, compared to @BBCBreakfast 4% or 63K. Both growing, @GMB rather faster….” His comment read. 

But on the flip side, some viewers really don’t like the way Piers grills guests. 

Take Bridgen’s interview, for example, 281 people contacted Ofcom and complained earlier this week. 

This comes after Piers was cleared by Ofcom after almost 4,000 complaints were made from his interviews with Victoria Atkins MP, Helen Whately MP and Health Secretary Matt Hancock to name a few – all which took place last week. 

As a result, the Conservative Party are now not offering interview slots with GMB. 

Instead, all other rivals, including This Morning who interview Hancock and Lorraine who interview Priti Patel are being given the chance.

Good Omens, which is based on Terry Pratchett’s fantasy novel launched on Amazon Prime at the end of last month with a cast including Michael Sheen and David Tenant.

Directed by Neil Gaiman, who also worked on American Gods, the series has been a hit with many fans.

However, a petition has been launched calling for the series to be cancelled and to be removed from Netflix.

Christian campaign site Return to Order set up the petition, which now has over 20,000 signatures.

The site has claimed the show “mocked God’s wisdom” and presenting “devils and Satanists as normal and even gods”.

Fans of the series have been quick to point out the petition is calling for Netflix to cut the show from its streaming site despite it actually airing on Amazon Prime.

Director Neil made light of the situation, sharing on his Twitter page: “I love that they are going to write to Netflix to try and get #GoodOmens cancelled. Says it all really.”

He later asked fans: “This is so beautiful… Promise me you won’t tell them?”

As many fans do enjoy Good Omens, Neil has opened up on the show revealing there was a major scene, which was almost deleted.

Speaking to Express.co.uk, he explained: “There was one sequence which I made sure was in [the show] because – Terry had written the Agnes Nutter sequence – the death by burning, and the explosion – and I wanted that in there because it was Terry’s.”

The scene in question sees Agnes being discovered a witch and put to death by being burnt at the stake.

Before she was killed, there was a sequence which told Agnes’ history and how she wrote The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch.

But it seems producers weren’t too keen on the scenes.

“We had some producers who thought maybe we could cut that sequence, and replace it with some wood cuts and a narrator,” Neil revealed.

“So I checked in with the imaginary Terry Pratchett on my shoulder – and none of the replies he gave me were printable.”

Neil decided he wouldn’t allow the sequence to be changed or taken out.

“I went back to the producers and let them know: ‘No that would be staying,’” he commented.

“We would find the money to do it, and find trims elsewhere, and so on, but that sequence would be staying.”

Neil has also revealed he doesn’t think he would return for another series.

“It’s time for me to go back and be a novelist,” he told Express.co.uk.

Good Omens is streaming on Amazon Prime now.

Lucifer’s fifth and final season was confirmed by executive producers Joe Henderson and Ildy Modrovich on Twitter and confirmed by Netflix.

Despite huge ratings, the show will once again be cancelled after Fox cancelled the show after season three.

Netflix then resurrected the show after a global petition by Lucifer fans who believed the show was cancelled too soon.

They then launched another petition to get Netflix to announce season five, which they dutifully did.

However, it must feel like one step forward and two steps backward for fans as they know face the prospect of losing Lucifer forever.

So, they have set up another petition on Change.org to plead with Netflix to commission a season six.

The petition reads: “It had been announced that season five of Lucifer will be its last and final. This show has many more seasons left in it.

“I can’t understand why they would choose not to continue with the fan reaction of the cancellation after season three and season four, great reviews.

“So please, fellow Lucifans, join me and unite once more to show Netflix what the fans want and how many of us there are.”

The petition had 3,600 signatures when this article was written.

“I was really nervous and at that moment I couldn’t have dreamed that we would get to where we are now.

“I have had the most amazing ride making life-long friends, and playing a character that I truly love.”

He touchingly added: “It has been an utter privilege.”

He continued: “More importantly I want to say YOU the fans have been the cherry on the cake of this whole journey.

“You will forever be precious to me and I cannot thank you enough for your passion, support and kindness for the past four and half years.

“Here’s to a rocking season five and going out on a high!!!!!!! #lucifer.”

Lucifer season 4 is available to stream on Netflix now and season five is expected to start production this year.

  • His supporters argue Silk Road was no different to eBay and it’s not his fault that people used it to sell drugs.

Ross Ulbricht, the founder of the dark web marketplace Silk Road, is dictating messages from prison that his family are delivering to the outside world via Twitter.

The Twitter account @RealRossU was opened in June and sent its first tweet on July 19. The tweet linked to a handwritten note posted on FreeRoss.org, a website run by “family, friends and supporters” of Ulbricht. The note said that the fact it was posted on FreeRoss.org proved its authenticity. Since then, the account has said Ulbricht is dictating his tweets over the phone to supporters.

England dumped Colombia out of the World Cup after a penalty shootout on Tuesday night following a heated and controversial match.

John Stones has branded Colombia the dirtiest side he’s ever faced, while Diego Maradona declared England’s victory a ‘monumental theft’.

England took the lead through Harry Kane from the penalty spot after 57 minutes before Yerry Mina scored a header in injury time for force another 30 minutes and ultimately penalties.

But the result hasn’t gone down well in Colombia and a petition calling for the game to be reviewed aiming to receive 300,000 signatures has already been signed by 270,000.

Colombian law student Juan Diego García declared FIFA must look into the game because two incidents went England’s way for, he claims, no reason.

His statement read: “I want to denounce in front of FIFA and with the support of all my Colombian compatriots, the match of the round of 16 between Colombia and England.

“In the course of the eighth-round match played on July 3, 2018, between Colombia and England, for a place in the quarterfinals of the 2018 World Cup Russia, there were two controversial moves that were NOT submitted to review by the Video Assistant Referee ” VAR ” which, had an enormous impact on the development and final result of the game. These punctual plays were:

“1) Penalty in favor of England, for a nonexistent foul and which was evidently judged wrongly by FIFA referee Mark Geiger.

“2) Carlos Bacca’s legitimate goal, in a play where the referee wrongly judged that there was illegitimacy when considering that when the goal was produced, there were two balls inside the pitch, which the television cameras proved, was NOT CORRECTLY COURT.

“It is in these two plays, where the criterion of the referee, directs the course of the game in favor of the English team, having no reason in either.

“FIFA is requested to review these two actions, in order to set a precedent for fair play, where good play prevails, legality and guarantees for participating teams.”

England face Sweden in the World Cup quarter-finals on Saturday and FIFA are unlikely to intervene beforehand to have the last-16 game replayed.

England are eyeing a place in the semi-finals for the first since Italia 90 and Gareth Southgate has urged his players to keep going.

“We have made progress but we haven’t achieved success yet,” Southgate told FIFA.com.

“My feet are firmly on the ground. I’ve been in football for 30 years, and I’ve had plenty of ups and downs.

“That night (against Colombia) was a great night for all of us but my focus was pretty quickly on to Sweden because we are in the last eight of a World Cup.

“We want more of those experiences and we want to go as far as we possibly can.”

At the outset of the competition, consensus suggested a place in the last-eight would be a good effort from Southgate’s youthful squad. But the goalposts have been shifting in recent days and even the level-headed manager has expanded his horizons.

He told ITV: “We’re at stage where we could go home now, get a nice reception – we’ve won a knock-out game, a shoot-out – or we can go stages further and really have made a difference and created our own history.

“We said before we came we wanted to make the nation proud, a way of us behaving to do that, but we needed to win some football matches as well.”

Southgate also revealed that the enjoyment of fans back home was having a clear impact on the squad.

The number of travelling supporters has been well down on recent tournaments, for a variety of reasons, but the celebratory scenes of fans the length and breadth of England have not gone unnoticed in the camp.

“The power of football to connect people can’t be underestimated,” he said.

“It’s nice to see that people are happy, are talking about it at work and it’s a privilege to have that opportunity.”

“The players are excited because a lot of their experiences with England, they’ve felt isolated in camp and had to fight against the tide. They feel supported and a real collective energy.

“The players are responding to the warmth, the encouragement. The team talks have to change, there’s a warm glow of having done well in games.”

The actor, who won for his role in Manchester by The Sea last year, would likely have handed out Best Actress at this year’s ceremony.

Usually – but not always – the previous year’s Best Actor hands out Best Actress, and visa versa.

However Affleck was accused in 2010 of sexual harassment by two women working on the movie I’m Still Here – allegations Affleck denied and settled out of court.

There was some controversy around him last year when he began generating awards season attention, and when Brie Larson (2016’s Best Actress) awarded him his prize, her body language was dissected on social media.

She announced Affleck’s name, then stepped back and stood with her arms still as Affleck took to the stage; whilst others in the room gave him a standing ovation.

Larson later said: “I think that whatever it was that I did onstage kind of spoke for itself.

“I’ve said all that I need to say about that topic.”

Affleck’s decision to stay away – as reported by The Hollywood Reporter via an Academy spokesperson – came after a petition calling for his dismissal reached nearly 20,000 signatures.

“The CEO of the Academy has publicly stated that they are taking our concern into account as they consider the upcoming Oscars,” organiser Cameron Bossert wrote late last year.

The #MeToo movement and the outrage around the likes of Harvey Weinstein and Kevin Spacey has accelerated intolerance towards alleged harassers in Hollywood.

The Oscars are set to take place on March 4.

A Change.org page encourages those who were left fuming by Episode 8 to join chants for it to be removed from canon and begun from scratch.

Given that the movie has made so much at the box office already, this plight seems a little on the unfeasible side – but to its credit, it has amassed 7,000 signatures at time of writing.

The petition’s founder, Henry Walsh from Georgia, USA, wrote: “Star Wars has long been a story about two things, the Jedi and Luke Skywalker. 

“After over 260 novels where we could follow the adventures of that great hero you, the Walt Disney Company decided to strike all of that from the official canon and wiped out three decades of lore. 

“We were excited to see Episode VII to see how our heroes lives turned out since you took away what we knew. We saw the death of Han Solo, we saw less than a minute of Luke Skywalker.”

Henry raged: “Episode VIII was a travesty. It completely destroyed the legacy of Luke Skywalker and the Jedi. It destroyed the very reasons most of us, as fans, liked Star Wars. 

“This can be fixed. Just as you wiped out 30 years of stories, we ask you to wipe out one more, the Last Jedi. 

“Remove it from canon, push back Episode IX and re-make Episode VIII properly to redeem Luke Skywalker’s legacy, integrity, and character.”

Rian Johnson, the movie’s writer and director, has already responded to the portion of the fanbase who were left raging by the story.

“I’m aware through my own experience that, first of all, the fans are so passionate, they care so deeply — sometimes they care very violently at me on Twitter,” he quipped to Business Insider.

“But it’s because they care about these things, and it hurts when you’re expecting something specific and you don’t get it from something that you love. It always hurts, so I don’t take it personally if a fan reacts negatively and lashes out on me on Twitter. That’s fine. 

“It’s my job to be there for that. Like you said, every fan has a list of stuff they want a Star Wars movie to be and they don’t want a Star Wars movie to be. 

“You’re going to find very few fans out there whose lists line up.”
