Last year Stephen King’s IT hit cinemas as audiences flocked to see Pennywise the Clown terrorise a bunch of 80s kids.

The horror film was a box office smash, topping The Exorcist as the highest-grossing horror of all time.

A modest budget of $ 35 million managed to rake in a whopping $ 700 million worldwide.

So it’s not surprising that a sequel was quickly greenlit.

Of course, the first IT movie was only half the novel, with the second part being set 27 years later.

In the original story, the childhood part takes place in the 1950s, before bringing the action into present-day 1980s.

However, the films have gone for that Stranger Things vibe, setting the coming of age section in the 80s.

And next year It Chapter 2 will be set in our present, seeing all the kids grown up.

It Chapter 2 has a star-studded cast including , alongside James McAvoy and Bill Hader.

And now the first teaser poster for the sequel has landed to coincide with Halloween.

Of course being a teaser poster it doesn’t really do much except, well, tease the film with its title.

Nevertheless, when a poster for a new movie is launched that’s usually a sign that the first trailer is around the corner.

Last year the first IT movie trailer launched in March and was viewed a record-breaking 197 million in its first 24 hours.

However, come November Avenger Infinity War topped it with 230 million.

No doubt both films’ sequels will see their first trailers challenge these figures.

IT Chapter 2 will be released in cinemas on September 6, 2019.

It movie: Director reveals real reason he QUIT Pennywise horror – ‘It was fear’ https://briefnews.eu/it-movie-director-reveals-real-reason-he-quit-pennywise-horror-it-was-fear/ https://briefnews.eu/it-movie-director-reveals-real-reason-he-quit-pennywise-horror-it-was-fear/#respond Tue, 28 Aug 2018 15:59:08 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/it-movie-director-reveals-real-reason-he-quit-pennywise-horror-it-was-fear/

It went on to become a surprise hit of last year; earning rave reviews and enjoying huge success at the box office, with Andy Muschietti at the helm.

At the time of his departure, Fukunaga told Entertainment Weekly that he and bosses at New Line “wanted to make different movies”, something he has now elaborated on.

Speaking to GQ, he said the studio started treating him like he could break ranks.

“I think it was fear on their part, that they couldn’t control me,” he mused.

Asked if they were right, he clarified: “No, they thought they couldn’t control me. I would have been a total collaborator.

“That was the kind of ridiculous part. It was just more a perception.

“I have never seen a note and been like, f**k you guys. No way. It’s always been a conversation.”

He added: “I don’t think I’ve ever been able to make something uncompromising.

“Like, someone commented on Beasts [of No Nation, 2015], ‘Oh, how did it feel to make a movie that’s uncompromising?’

“Like, uncompromising? I had to rewrite my entire third act ’cause we didn’t have the money to finish the film. We compromise all over the place.”

IT movie: WATCH deleted Pennywise alternate ending setting up SEQUEL https://briefnews.eu/it-movie-watch-deleted-pennywise-alternate-ending-setting-up-sequel/ https://briefnews.eu/it-movie-watch-deleted-pennywise-alternate-ending-setting-up-sequel/#respond Wed, 10 Jan 2018 13:00:47 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/it-movie-watch-deleted-pennywise-alternate-ending-setting-up-sequel/

The horror movie was the shocking and spine-chilling surprise hit of the summer.

Talk has already turned to the sequel.

Will Pennywise return to terrorise Derry and will our plucky young heroes return? What do you think?

A new deleted scene makes it even more clear…

After all the trauma in the big screen version, director Andre Muschietti gave the movie a rather sunny and sweet ending when Bill gets the girl.

His cute kiss with Beverley adds feel-good factor that contributed the movie’s box office smashing combination of hard scares and human emotion.

This extended vesrion takes the scene further as Bill’s family head off on their holidays.

As they drive through the streets of Derry the camera pans down to the edge of the curb and a dark storm drain… It’s clear that the trouble has only just begun.

It is out on January 15 on DVD and Blu-ray.

It movie: Watch gruesome deleted scene axed from Pennywise horror https://briefnews.eu/it-movie-watch-gruesome-deleted-scene-axed-from-pennywise-horror/ https://briefnews.eu/it-movie-watch-gruesome-deleted-scene-axed-from-pennywise-horror/#respond Wed, 03 Jan 2018 12:54:19 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/it-movie-watch-gruesome-deleted-scene-axed-from-pennywise-horror/

Ahead of the movie’s release on DVD and Blu-ray later this month, an unseen snippet has been released – and it’s horrific.

It shows Henry Bowers – who is revealed to not only have killed his father, but cut the throats of his friends Belch and Victor.

He is then covered in blood as he watches the Losers’ Club from afar.

The scene doesn’t show the deaths of the friends, but it is still a gruesome sight as Henry sits with the bodies.

Watch above.

Bill Skarsgard, who played Pennywise the clown in the movie, has also spoken about a deleted moment from the film, which sounds like it was too scary to even be included.

“There was a scene we shot that was a flashback from the 1600s, before Pennywise [was Pennywise],” he recalled.

“The scene turned out really, really disturbing. And I’m not the clown. I look more like myself.

“It’s very disturbing, and sort of a backstory for what IT is, or where Pennywise came from.”

He added: “That might be something worth exploring in the second one. The idea is the IT entity was dormant for thousands and thousands of years. The [flashback] scene hints on that.”

The movie broke records for horror movies upon its theatrical release last September.

It is out on January 15 on DVD and Blu-ray.

It movie Chapter 2: Pennywise star reveals why horror sequel will be even SCARIER https://briefnews.eu/it-movie-chapter-2-pennywise-star-reveals-why-horror-sequel-will-be-even-scarier/ https://briefnews.eu/it-movie-chapter-2-pennywise-star-reveals-why-horror-sequel-will-be-even-scarier/#respond Sun, 22 Oct 2017 19:10:05 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/it-movie-chapter-2-pennywise-star-reveals-why-horror-sequel-will-be-even-scarier/

The adaptation of Stephen King’s novel was a huge box office success upon its release last month, and Chapter 2 should be along in 2019.

Speaking to IGN, Skarsgard said that the sequel will simply follow more adult characters, and get more into the “psychological aspects of horror”.

Long story short, it’ll be scarier than ever.

“The first movie worked so well at what it is trying to do, I think, and ultimately that is the kids’ story, and you follow these kids and you sort of fall in love with these kids,” he said.

“And the second one will be the adult story.”

He elaborated: “I think the right way to do it is to make that movie actively different.

“I think there might be worth exploring sort of the psychological aspects of horror, but also maybe the sort of cosmological existence of this being [Pennywise].

“What is he, and where does he come from?”

Andy Muschietti directed the smash hit horror, which defied all expectations upon its release in September.

The sequel has already been confirmed for launch on September 6, 2019.

IT movie: Hillary Clinton and Kellyanne Conway are Pennywise the Clown in scary SNL sketch https://briefnews.eu/it-movie-hillary-clinton-and-kellyanne-conway-are-pennywise-the-clown-in-scary-snl-sketch/ https://briefnews.eu/it-movie-hillary-clinton-and-kellyanne-conway-are-pennywise-the-clown-in-scary-snl-sketch/#respond Sun, 15 Oct 2017 12:05:54 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/it-movie-hillary-clinton-and-kellyanne-conway-are-pennywise-the-clown-in-scary-snl-sketch/

As a new series of Saturday Night Live begins, the lampooning of the Trump administration is back in action.

This week’s main sketch saw a parody of hit horror movie IT, with CNN news anchor Anderson Cooper being haunted by Kellyanne Conway (Kellywise) from a sewer.

The spoof alludes to Cooper’s famous interviews with Conway over the firing of FBI Director Comey and when he laughed at her coining of the term ‘Alternative Facts’.

In the SNL sketch Cooper takes the role of Georgie from IT, wearing a yellow raincoat, only to be called over by Kellywise in the sewer.

The clown asks to be put back on TV and tries to temp Cooper with some silly quotes.

However she shows him his greatest fear: a newspaper saying that Trump is re-elected in 2020 and that he’ll get fat.

But then suddenly she turns into Hillary with her new book, What Happened, to trick him into the sewer – only turn back into Kellywise and bite his arm off.

However his IT is mistaken for an office’s IT department, only for Freddy Krueger to be revealed as the actual computer guy.

A sequel to the IT movie set 27 years later is set for release in September 2019.

It movie: Stephen King’s Pennywise horror gets a BIZARRE twist https://briefnews.eu/it-movie-stephen-kings-pennywise-horror-gets-a-bizarre-twist/ https://briefnews.eu/it-movie-stephen-kings-pennywise-horror-gets-a-bizarre-twist/#respond Sat, 07 Oct 2017 03:10:03 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/it-movie-stephen-kings-pennywise-horror-gets-a-bizarre-twist/

Essentially, Burger King managed to turn the horror film into an advert – with one very simple move.

At a pre-premiere screening in Germany, they waited until the last moments of the film before projecting the words “The moral is: never trust a clown” onto the screen.

As the credits rolled, audience members were confused… until the Burger King logo was then projected too.

The company’s dig at Ronald McDonald, their rivals’ iconic mascot, made for quite the PR stunt.

Watch it above.

The stunt has divided fans online, with one writing on YouTube: “As if there weren’t enough reasons already to stop going to theaters.

“I’d be p***ed if they inserted that cr*p into any movie I paid to see!”

However another said: “That is brilliant! Whoever came with this idea deserved their payment.”

Burger King’s issue with It is more far-reaching than this: it was claimed last month that the Russian arm of the fast food giant had tried to have it banned, because it gave McDonald’s free advertising.

It has been a monumental smash; becoming the most successful horror movie in history.

A sequel, which will see Bill Skarsgard return as Pennywise the clown, is due in 2019.

It is out now.

It movie: How bosses kept child stars TERRIFIED of Pennywise the Clown https://briefnews.eu/it-movie-how-bosses-kept-child-stars-terrified-of-pennywise-the-clown/ https://briefnews.eu/it-movie-how-bosses-kept-child-stars-terrified-of-pennywise-the-clown/#respond Fri, 29 Sep 2017 21:05:13 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/it-movie-how-bosses-kept-child-stars-terrified-of-pennywise-the-clown/

The iconic horror clown has been spooking audiences worldwide en masse throughout the month, with the Andy Muschietti-directed film becoming the highest-grossing R-rated horror ever.

Speaking in the above clip, a producer said: “Andy successfully kept Bill [Skarsgard], Pennywise, away from the kids as long as possible.

“We wanted to keep him away because we wanted the reaction to be real,” added another.

An additional producer chimed in: “It is authentic to how kids should be reacting.

“That was one of Andy’s things in terms of scaring the kids – having them not know what our Pennywise was gonna look like.”

It certainly worked, with the young actors describing how unnerved they were by Skarsgard’s first scenes.

“The first time we saw him altogether was the projector scene,” Wyatt Oleff said.

“It got our real reactions,” Jeremy Ray Taylor recalled.

Finn Wolfhard, who plays Richie, added: “I was so freaked out.”

“It was terrifying,” Wyatt laughed.

It is out now.

IT movie part 2 release date REVEALED: When can fans expect the Pennywise Clown sequel? https://briefnews.eu/it-movie-part-2-release-date-revealed-when-can-fans-expect-the-pennywise-clown-sequel/ https://briefnews.eu/it-movie-part-2-release-date-revealed-when-can-fans-expect-the-pennywise-clown-sequel/#respond Tue, 26 Sep 2017 07:32:36 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/it-movie-part-2-release-date-revealed-when-can-fans-expect-the-pennywise-clown-sequel/

Since it’s release earlier this month, the IT movie has made over £350 million worldwide and become the biggest horror movie of all time – topping The Exorcist’s record from 1973.

Seeing as the film was only the first half of Stephen King’s iconic novel, fans have been wondering when the sequel will be arriving.

Director Andy Muschietti has said the script should be completed by January 2018 and now a release date has been revealed.

According to Deadline, IT movie part 2 will be released on September 6, 2019.

While the IT movie was set in 1989, the sequel will take place 27 years later when an adult Losers’ Club is drawn back to Derry after hearing that Pennywise has returned.

The actor said: “I am attached to it but that’s all I can say, we’re in the early stages and I’m talking to Andy [the director] about it and figuring out what IT will be.

“It’s a different story but I’m excited to delve in deeper to the character as there’s more exploration for who Pennywise is.”

When asked how his evil clown would be different three decades later, dealing with the fears of adults, the star said: “Yeah I think we’ll see where it goes but it’s definitely just… reading the movie and the book and talking about the second one, we have to raise the ante and not just do the same thing again so I’m looking forward to that process.”

IT movie part 2 will be released on September 6, 2019.
