Spencer Platt/Getty Images // Nate Smallwood/Getty Images Former President Donald Trump said Democrat candidate Lt. Gov. John Fetterman "is a spoiled and entitled socialist loser who leeched off his parents' money" during a rally in Pennsylvania on Saturday. In 2018, The New York Times debunked Trump's claims that he was a self-made billionaire. The outlet reported Trump received the equivalent of at least $ 413 million from his father's real estate empire, beginning when he was a toddler. Trump also said Fetterman, who is running against Republican Dr. Mehmet Oz for a seat in the US Senate, "lives on his parents' money" and alleged Fetterman uses drugs. —Aaron Rupar (@atrupar) September 4, 2022 Fetterman has served as the lieutenant governor of Pennsylvania since 2019. Prior to that, he was the mayor of Braddock, Pennsylvania, for 13 years. The Philadelphia Inquirer reported that Fetterman's parents supported him well into his 40s because he was only earning $ 150 per month during his mayorship. Fetterman has acknowledged this support and now earns $ 217,610 as lieutenant governor. In response to Trump's comments, Joe Calvello, the director of communications for Fetterman tweeted "more and more lies from Trump and Dr. Oz; another day, but it's the same shit from these two desperate and sad dudes.' The former president was campaigning for Republicans Oz and Doug Mastriano — a candidate for state governor — before the November midterm elections. According to recent polls, Fetterman is ahead of Oz by 8.1 points in the race to represent Pennsylvania in the US Senate. Saturday's rally was the first one Trump has appeared at since the FBI searched his Mar-a-Lago estate on August 8 and discovered more than 10,000 government documents, according to a publicly released inventory. At the podium, Trump once again decried the search, claiming that the FBI raided the "hopes and dreams" of the American's he's been "fighting for." He then took the opportunity to call President Joe Biden "an enemy of the state" in response to comments Biden made on Thursday lambasting "MAGA forces" for fanning the "flames of political violence." Trump also ridiculed Mark Zuckerberg, saying the Meta CEO begged the former president to have dinner with him last week. Representatives for Trump and Fetterman did not immediately respond to Insider's request for comment. https://i.insider.com/631426f6023509001aecd182?format=jpeg “Stood up? They asked for the flag of the country that educates them to be removed. That’s not standing up,” one fan blasted at Carina’s praise for the younger generation. A second said on Twitter: “Bring your own children up how you like. However, don’t then moan when they act or conduct themselves in ways you don’t agree with when they are older because that was ultimately the way you taught them.” While a third pointed out: “Both have good points. Think about what adult you want to create then work towards that. “Don’t complain they don’t have value for money or can’t save when you gave them everything they wanted when they were kids! Don’t try and be their best friend, be their parents!” Good Morning Britain continues weekdays at 6am on ITV. No amount of talking points could prepare Shaun for dinner with Lea’s parents on Monday’s episode of The Good Doctor. No, that “predictable disaster” went exactly as Lea had feared. For starters, Lea’s mom Pam (Nip/Tuck‘s Julie Warner) asked Shaun if being autistic makes his job more difficult. And because that wasn’t awful enough, her dad, Mike (Riverdale‘s Barclay Hope), went and asked Shaun for his opinion on vaccines — even though there’s no link between autism and vaccines. To alleviate the tension, Dr. Murphy interjected with an anecdote about a terminal patient who needed to have a hemorrhoid surgically removed. “He only had a few months to live, and nothing would change that, but the surgery did make him more comfortable,” Shaun explained. “I suggest we treat this evening like hemorrhoid surgery.” The suggestion got a laugh out of Mike, but his and Pam’s issues with Lea’s relationship were not smoothed over. The following afternoon, Lea received a text from Mom, which read, “We need to talk about Shaun.” Her ‘rents didn’t believe their daughter was mature enough for such a “complicated relationship,” but Shaun was determined to prove them wrong. He confronted Pam and Mike at their hotel and defended the relationship. “You said our relationship has challenges. You’re right,” he said. “Lea and I go through challenges together. It’s what makes us stronger. Lea challenges me to try things, even things I know I won’t like because it is not always better to stop and think; and I make Lea patient because I can be very frustrating. So can the two of you.” In the end, Lea’s parents sought to make amends for the trouble they’d caused. They stopped by the apartment and invited Shaun and Lea out to dinner. Later on, Glassman and Lea had a heart to heart at the hospital. He told her she’s smart, she’s funny and she makes Shaun happy — which also means “you can make him very, very sad, and that worries me,” he explained. “Everything Shaun has gone through, all that rejection and pain… The victories all belong to him, but I feel every single high, and every single low. So, I’m sorry, but I’m not going to stop worrying about him, even if he doesn’t need me to.” And with that, the two most important people in Shaun’s life reached an understanding. Elsewhere this week… What did you think of The Good Doctor Season 4, Episode 8: “Parenting”? Drop your thoughts in a comment below. Parenting triumphs are few and far between during the pandemic, but news that Caillou will no longer be on the air is being well-received by moms and dads far and wide. PBS Kids announced on social media Tuesday that the much-maligned animated series, which has centered on its precocious 4-year-old namesake and his family for more than two decades, will be no more. The public television network even offered viewers coping tips on how to tell young fans about the cancellation. Instead of sadness, the news sparked cheers of snarky joy from adult detractors on social media. “Thank goodness,” cheered Liza Cummings Reilly on Facebook. “That little boy was so rude to his mom and disobedient. I didn’t allow my kids to watch him because of that reason.” One mother commented that Caillou is an “obnoxious, ridiculous excuse for a kid’s show.” And yet another described the show as “the most annoying thing on TV.” Many Twitter users responded in kind (with some even attaching gifs). Bye, don’t let the door hit u on the way out — Heh, about time! I think we all know how Classic Caillou would react… pic.twitter.com/9Hl91YYoL9 — Zak Wolf (@wiley207) January 5, 2021 That said, a handful of positive comments about Caillou also serve as proof that not everyone hates the follicly challenged and imaginative boy who peppers his parents, Doris and Boris, with questions and often pesters his younger sister, Rosie, and the family’s pet cat, Gilbert. The din of Caillou backlash reached a crescendo three years ago when parents started pointing out that the series lacks educational value and instead teaches children bad habits such as sass and tantrums. Some trashed the theme song, Caillou’s “whiny” voice and called him a Charlie Brown rip-off. One YouTuber even created a parody. One minute, Single Parents besties Will and Angie were enjoying a farewell dinner of wine and pizza by gas-station candlelight; the next, they were waking up together mid-cuddle. And in this exclusive sneak peek from the zippy ABC sitcom’s Season 2 finale (Wednesday, 9:30/8:30c), all their friends want to know is which of them was the cuddlee and which of them was the cuddler. Of course, remembering who initiated the snuggle is easier said than done for a besotted Will, who fears that he’s still drunk, and Angie, who’s certain that she is. In fact, about the only thing that she remembers for sure, she tells Poppy, is that “we still had all our clothes on [in the morning], so nothing too crazy happened.” “But,” Will hastens to point out to Douglas and Miggy, “it was intimate.” Before the $ 64,000 question can be answered or even thoroughly investigated, in walks Derek (Leighton Meester’s real-life husband, guest star Adam Brody) to usher away his babymama to Barstow for the summer. (Awkward!) So if Will doesn’t reveal to Angie that he’s nuts about her as more than just a pal, and fast, his crush could wind up falling for Graham’s hot dad all over again! Oh, and ABC has to renew the show, right? The cast of Saturday Night Live knows just how hard it can be to parent your children while holed up in quarantine. That’s why they’ve proposed a new rule: “Let kids drink!” That was the premise of a song performed by most of the cast during this weekend’s Season 45 finale. The music video also included a surprise cameo by Frozen star Josh Gad, who voices Olaf in the popular Disney film franchise. “Give kids drinks,” he pleaded. “Disney said it’s fine. And now here’s a bedtime story: it’s vodka, soda, lime.” Gad’s solo was followed by a Pete Davidson verse, in which the twentysomething cast member begged his mother to let him have “a drink and a shot… and a little pills and crack.” The number eventually dovetailed into an anthem about letting dogs got wasted. Cecily Strong led the charge, likening canines to “smarter, nicer kids.” At one point, she was interrupted by a very depressed Beck Bennett, who chimed in with a verse of his own about letting guys drink alone in their sheds. This weekend marked the third remote installment of SNL since the coronavirus pandemic forced the late-night sketch comedy series to halt production. In addition to Gad, the episode featured cameos by Alec Baldwin, SNL alums Kristen Wiig and Tina Fey, Martin Short, ubiquitous guest star Danny Trejo and a musical performance by Boyz II Men and Babyface. Liverpool-born Jodie, who beat co-star Sandra Oh to an Emmy, told Variety: “It’s nice to bring your parents to these things. But I just said, ‘Oh no, sit this one out. Now’s not my time.’ I’m probably not going to ever live that one down with them – they’ll be coming to every single thing now.” The actress said she was stunned when her name was called out. She said: “I was in a complete state of shock. During the day I was strangely calm because I didn’t think it would be me. But it also happened so fast. You’re standing in front of all of these people – you want to say the right thing and don’t want to miss anybody. “You want to soak it up, not rush it, and take it all in. I feel like I blabbered on a lot.” The BBC drama features Sandra Oh as an MI5 agent on the tail of Jodie’s Russian assassin. It also stars actress Fiona Shaw. Jodie said there were “no hard feelings” after beating Sandra to the Emmy last Sunday. The pair have gone head to head for acting accolades before but Jodie said it did not make them feel uncomfortable. “I think people think it’s more awkward than it is,” Jodie said. “I’ve always said I feel incredibly fortunate to be part of a show that has two female leads that are complex and in the same category. “It’s pretty special that we’re both in there together. “We’re so celebratory of each other, as is the whole crew. There are no hard feelings.”

The episode also touched on Glassman’s feelings about Lea. At a mock dinner Shaun had staged to prepare for Pam and Mike’s arrival, his surrogate dad made clear that he doesn’t dislike Lea, but fears their relationship is moving too fast — which, I gotta say, is quite rich for a man who proposed to his current wife after all of one date.
* Lim did her best to push Claire away — at one point, there was actual pushing involved! — as her friend/protégé begged and pleaded with her to get the help she needs. Worried that Lim is on the same sort of destructive path that did her own mother in, Claire went directly to Glassman to address the matter — and not a moment too soon. Lim’s refusal to address her PTSD has clearly begun to take its toll on her work, as evidenced when she confronted the Patient of the Week — teenage gymnast Darya (Nancy Drew‘s Eden Summer Gilmore) — with a life-or-death decision.
* As the team worked on Darya’s father (Life Unexpected‘s Kristoffer Polaha), who was also in need of medical attention, Andrews pushed Olivia to step up her game and show everyone what she’s capable of as a surgeon. In the end, though, Dr. Jackson realized that she’s never going to meet her uncle’s expectations — and she’s OK with that. If he wants to groom one of the surgical residents, it ought to be Olivia.

‘I KNOW YOU MET HIM; STOP NAME-DROPPING LANCE BASS!’ | As “Ketchup” began, Angie was so freaked out about being separated from Graham that even Will’s suggestion that they go on a booze cruise couldn’t convince her that she shouldn’t drag her son home from space camp. That being the case, he’d drive her. Which was good, “’cause I am out of gas,” Angie admitted. “Like all-the-way out.” On the road, Will got his pal to admit that OK, fine, maybe she had abandonment issues. But why shouldn’t she when everyone leaves — grandparents, pets, “every teacher at the end of the school year, gone like it meant nothing… every pen I’ve ever owned… ” Graham’s father… Aha! Sure that he’d gotten to the root of Angie’s problem, he got her to tell him about her summer touring with “the sexiest man I had ever seen” — Derek (Leighton Meester’s real-life husband, O.C. vet Adam Brody). He’d even seemed excited about the prospect of becoming a dad, yet “next thing I knew, he left me at a bus stop in Sacramento.” So fine, she had abandonment issues. “But I got a bus thing, too.” Believe it or not, the story got worse. Derek had never even tried to meet Graham, though he lives only a couple of hours away. “It’s like fire up an audio book and do the right thing, you hot doofus!” cried Angie.
Suddenly, Will had a brilliant, terrible idea: They should forget all about space camp and track down Derek so that Angie could give him a piece of her mind. “I’m gonna use all the cuss words!” she declared. She was even going to invent a few new ones, like… um… shoehead? Alas, once they pulled into the drive-thru of Ratso’s Burgers, Burritos & Teriyaki (ugh!), Angie lost her nerve. Since cars had pulled in behind them, Will couldn’t back out, either — they’d have to pass Derek at the window! While Angie hid in the backseat, she had Will order enough food to cater the show’s wrap party. When he was finally face to handsome face with Derek, Will went off on him for forgetting the ketchup — meaning his responsibilities as a father. Derek had made the fries — meaning Graham — and then hadn’t provided ketchup. But the fry is still amazing, Will yelled, because the salt — meaning Angie — is awesome! Before the confrontation with a bewildered Derek was through, Will got physical and smushed Graham’s dad’s face against the car window… pretty much forcing him and Angie to see one another. Derek was eager to talk to his old flame, but she wasn’t ready, so she and Will left with her babydaddy’s email on the shard of a demo CD Will had broken in half.
‘I’M A VERY BUSY SINGLE DAD TRYING TO HAVE IT ALL’ | Meanwhile, Douglas was seething with jealousy over Poppy and Ron’s kiss when Miggy arrived with the twins. “I’m dealing with something here,” grumbled Douglas. “Can you come back in 10 years?” They could not and they would not — they had a business proposal in which they wanted the widower to invest: Beach Sneaks. The trio had a whole presentation to do, but “it’s a bag on a shoe,” said Douglas seconds after they began. “I get it.” And no way would he invest in the idiotic idea. Shortly, Poppy arrived to discuss what he’d witnessed the previous night and quickly tired of his obvious lies (that he hadn’t been in front of her place, that he’d only been there to return Rory’s blazer, Liza). So she accused him of being scared to tell her the truth about the way he felt — and added that that was a fear he didn’t share with Ron, who’d called off his wedding!
Later, Miggy returned to inform Douglas that he’d pitched Beach Sneaks to a real business genius, who’d bought in on the spot: Dwayne! He’d even gotten a website put up… that said Beach Sneaks by Dwayne. Dang it! “Only an idiot would trust Dwayne,” sighed Douglas. Before stomping out, Miggy said that he was tired of being called dumb. And even if he was ditsy, at least he led with his heart — when was the last time Douglas did that? Inspired, Douglas made a beeline for Poppy’s. She was done with Ron, she said. For good this time. She’d even told him to marry Sharon. Why? asked Douglas. Poppy’s smile did a nice job of answering that question. In return, he admitted that he hadn’t been outside her place because of Liza but because of “feelings.” Neither of them knew where they were going from there, but Poppy had to hurry over to the nuptials… which she was chagrined to be attending alone. Uh-uh. She wouldn’t be alone, Douglas said.
‘THANK YOU FOR HULKING OUT FOR ME’ | As the episode and the season neared their conclusions, Will and Angie chowed down on all that food he’d ordered while taking in the super romantic view from a hilltop. He wouldn’t have guessed that Derek would be her type. “I like… different things now,” she replied. Was Tracy his type? Well, yeah, he said. But he had “other types,” too. As the moment got more and more loaded with possibility, Angie thanked him for his sweet ketchup tirade. “What can I say? I care deeply about condiments… and you,” he admitted. And it looked for a hot second like they might kiss, but just when it would’ve happened… argh! Sophie Facetimed! Later, we joined Poppy and Douglas as they were about to enter Ron and Sharon’s wedding — and so did Will, Angie and Miggy! Douglas had told Poppy she wouldn’t have to go it alone! After Douglas showed Miggy that he’d bought him a website for all of his future sneaker designs — “You know my name isn’t Mickey, right?” (oops!) — he took Poppy’s hand, and into the ceremony they went. So, what did you think of the finale? Were you hoping Will and Angie would kiss? Too soon? Are you glad Douglas and Poppy got together? Hit the comments after you grade the episode below.

Star Wars is a franchise built entirely on continuity and the ongoing legacy of what has come before. Star Wars fans treasure the iconic characters and the sense of history and myth in perfect balance. This is one of the principal reasons there was such a backlash when The Last Jedi seemed to disregard so much of what has come before. “The past must die” became the mantra and now the man responsible has said it can also be applied to his own work.
Star Wars 7 knowingly and ruthlessly built up the mystery surrounding Rey’s lineage. The filmmakers knew which way fans were being led and encouraged it.
The big reveal in Star Wars 8 that she was “nothing”, the abandoned child of drunk lowlives felt like a slap in the face to many. As well as pulling the rug on the speculation she would be a secret Skywalker, Kenobi or even Palpatine, it also continued to fail to explain how she could have so much power and such instant skill, with no training and no lineage.
In a shock new interview this week, Episode VIII director Rian Johnson just said it can all be changed and he doesn’t care.
STAR WARS 9 LEAKS REVEAL THE LUKE SKYWALKER SCENE EVERYONE WAS WAITING FOR IN THE LAST JEDI
Asked if he minded if JJ Abrams completely retconned the Rey family storyline, Johnson shook his head and told MTV: “I want to be thrilled. I want him to do stuff that I wasn’t expecting him to do and just go along for the ride. For me, that’s why I go to the movies.”
This is great news for fans still hoping for a big Reyvelation (sorry).
However, Rey’s parentage isn’t actually the issue. It simply continues to illustrate what many see as the major issue with the Sequel Trilogy. How can one continuous storyline be split into three movies where each director has complete autonomy to make any changes and switches he likes to the previous film? Why allow a director with a clear commitment to subvert existing expectations to handle the middle film in a franchise?
STAR WARS TRAILER RELEASED DATE AND TIME AT STAR WARS CELEBRATION
Johnson is a filmmaker who firmly believes in bringing something new to every filmgoing experience and who is not interested in being constrained by existing frameworks.
He has never hidden this and these are fine attributes in a director. Unless, perhaps, you are making the eighth movie in a continuous nine-movie cycle.
The fact he is happy if JJ Abrams undoes some of The Last Jedi’s key plotlines is why so many fans were so unhappy with The Last Jedi in the first place.
Of course, Kylo Ren might have been lying to Rey or have received false information about her parents from Snoke or some other source. However, the entire hall of mirrors fake out followed by Kylo’s revelation intentionally trolled fans who had been eagerly following cues deliberately laid down by the franchise itself.
For any of the filmmakers to claim otherwise is disingenuous.
