Kung Fu Panda will be bringing his brand of awesome to the Universal Studios Hollywood theme park. The DreamWorks Theatre Featuring Kung Fu Panda is opening this summer to help you learn how to master your destiny, and maybe embark on your own quest. Replacing Shrek 4-D, the new Kung Fu Panda: The Emperor’s Quest attraction is a multi-sensory and immersive experience that a lucky few got to experience before it opens later this month.

Coming Soon was one of the lucky few to tour of the Kung Fu Panda: The Emperor’s Quest attraction before it opens at Universal Studios Hollywood on June 15, 2018. They shared a few details, as well as a few incredibly cool images from the theme park ride.

Kung Fu Panda The Emperor’s Quest First Look



Kung Fu Panda: The Emperor’s Quest is located near the front of the park, right before you hit the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, Coming Soon writes. The attraction sits in the newly built Dreamworks Theatre which boasts “Mediterranean architecture…a studio garden-patio environment, custom tile work, and a studio marquee out front.”

“Guests will first enter the theater lobby for a pre-show,” Coming Soon writes. “An animated, slumbering Pinocchio will mutter one-liners in his sleep as people enter; there will be awards for various DreamWorks productions on display; and the Magic Mirror will hang on the wall.”

The DreamWorks Theatre Featuring Kung Fu Panda isn’t limited to Kung Fu Panda — the theater will host a whole bevy of DreamWorks characters, including the displaced Shrek. Universal creative director Jon Corfino told Coming Soon that LED panels featuring DreamWorks characters will grace the walls, and show fun scenes of Po and Shrek arguing (Po wins, of course).

But the best part of the attraction: No 3D glasses are needed. Instead, the show uses projection-mapping to create an immersive 180 degree film. About 241 seats are available in the theater, each responsive to the film playing. Head over to Coming Soon for a full account of the attraction.

“On the morning of The Emperor’s Great Feast of Heroes, dragon warrior Po embarks on a wild and perilous mission to deliver the rare and precious Liquid of Limitless Power to the Palace, while enlisting guests to join him on the exciting adventure filled with raging rapids, river pirates, awesome magic and Kung Fu.”

Amazon has two new additions to help spice things up for your kids on the small screen.

The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle is heading to Amazon, and the first trailer for the update of the classic cartoon has arrived online. Plus, there’s a new Kung Fu Panda animated series heading to the subscription service too.

Here’s the official synopsis for the new series coming to Amazon next month on May 11:

The world’s best-known flying squirrel and talking moose are back in a serialized comedy about the two goofball best friends who routinely find themselves thrust into harrowing situations but end up saving the day time and again. As Rocky (Tara Strong) and Bullwinkle’s (Brad Norman) innocent and silly ambitions to become rock stars or find lost treasure end up dovetailing with Fearless Leader’s (Piotr Michael) sinister plans to take over the world, our heroes are set on a collision course with his notorious superspies Boris Badenov (Ben Diskin) and Natasha Fatale (Rachel Butera). Daran Norris narrates the series executive produced by Scott Fellows and Tiffany Ward, daughter of the original series producer Jay Ward.

This looks distinctly different from the classic adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle, both in animation style and in the kind of stories being told with the characters. Sure, Boris and Natasha are still involved as the villains of the series, but this series looks far more action-packed and wild than the original show. Of course, cartoons were much different in the early 1960s when the original Rocky and Bullwinkle series was popular, and kids need a little more stimulation to keep their attention nowadays.

Kung Fu Panda: The Paws of Destiny

In addition, DreamWorks Animation is also bringing a new Kung Fu Panda series to Amazon called Kung Fu Panda: The Paws of Destiny. This time Po has become the master as he must teach four panda kids who have stumbled upon a mystical cave beneath Panda Village, accidentally absorbing the chi of ancient and powerful kung fu warriors known as the Four Constellations. Endowed with a new purpose, these four young warriors must keep the world safe from an evil force.

It doesn’t sound like Jack Black will be back for this series, but that’s not surprising since he also didn’t reprise the role in the Nickelodeon animated series Kung Fu Panda: Legends of Awesomeness. We actually don’t know who any of the voice talents in the series will be, but we’ll find out when we get closer to the series debut sometime later this year.

A panda missed out on a transatlantic first class flight with Margaret Thatcher after she refused to accommodate him in the back of her Concorde, because they are not “happy omens” for politicians, newly released files show.

Lord Zuckerman, president of the London Zoological Society, suggested that Chia Chia the panda could share the Prime Minister’s flight to Washington in 1981. Thatcher was going to America for her first summit with US President Ronald Reagan.

Washington’s Smithsonian Institution had asked to borrow Chia Chia to mate it with US-based Ching Ching. Zuckerman contacted Number 10 because he felt the publicity stunt could have aided the US and UK’s much-valued “special relationship.”

But Thatcher’s private secretary, Clive Whitmore, replied: “[Thatcher] has commented that she is not taking a panda with her – ‘Pandas and politicians are not happy omens!’”
The National Archives file also showed Thatcher’s initial appalled response. On a briefing note about the idea, she had written in blue felt tip pen: “I am not taking a panda with me.” To emphasize her point, she underlined the word “not” twice and also underlined the word “me.”

“Lord Z knows more about pandas than I do – I am sure he can arrange these things,” she added.

Thatcher’s aversion may have reflected a reluctance to imitate her predecessor, Ted Heath, who brought back pandas from China, her dislike of manipulative political stunts, or, possibly, a deeper antipathy towards the slow-moving creatures.

The following year, Thatcher expressed a weary acceptance that more money would have to be given to London Zoo to save it from closure. “The zoo is a British institution,” the prime minister wrote in another letter. “I fear there will have to be a further interim grant.”

The released files detail years of attempts by the Zoo to get more money from the government as it battled dwindling attendances and rising costs.

Chinese businessmen have finally found a way to make money from dung – producing luxury tissue paper from panda poop. True panda fans will have to pay up to 10 times more than for usual tissue.

Dung from the iconic Chinese bears is now being used to make a bizarre line of napkins, tissues, and toilet paper, local media report. Panda droppings are collected from the world’s largest panda sanctuary – the China Conservation and Research Center for the Giant Panda – and sent to the Sichuan Jianwei Fengsheng Paper Company.

“Pandas get what they want and we do too. It’s a win-win,” the company’s chairman, Yang Chaolin, said. The ‘Panda poo’ line is already on sale, and if you dare try it, be prepared to pay 43 yuan (US$ 6.50) for one box of tissue – more than 10 times the cost of regular tissue. The producer claims that the item is absolutely hygienic, as the waste goes through a complex manufacturing process, including washing, high-temperature sterilization, and bacteria testing.

An adult giant panda usually produces more than 10kg of dung per day after consuming up to 15kg of bamboo, Huang Yan, a researcher at the panda sanctuary in Dujiangyan, Sichuan Province, says. The droppings mainly consist of broken bamboo leaves – known as ‘green balls’ by the keepers. He added that the pandas can also generate around 50kg of bamboo residue per day when they eat, and “turning this into tissue offers a perfect solution for us to deal with [the] waste.”

PlayStation Plus December 2017 free games have been revealed by Sony.

, the December batch of free PS Plus games are headlined by Darksiders 2 Deathinitive Edition and Kung Fu Panda: Showdown of Legendary Legends on .

These games are joined by Until Dawn: Rush of Blood on PlayStation VR and That’s You! on PlayLink.

Firefly Games is unveiling DreamWorks Universe of Legends, which brings a number of entertainment franchises into a single mobile game. Now you can play with DreamWorks characters from Shrek, Kung Fu Panda, Madagascar, and more.

Los Angeles-based Firefly Games and entertainment company Riva Group have created an action role-playing game with more than 40 heroes and villains from DreamWorks animated films. It is available on iOS and Android.

“DreamWorks properties have touched the hearts and minds of millions of fans around the world,” said Paul Riva, the chairman of the Riva Group, in a statement. “Firefly Games – with their ability to reach a truly global audience with their presence in the U.S. and China makes for the perfect partner to create and share this unified DreamWorks gaming experience.”

The development studio designed DreamWorks Universe of Legends with Western and Eastern markets in mind. The combination of iconic DreamWorks characters could be appealing on a global basis, the companies believe.

“We are truly honored to have the opportunity to bring multiple worlds of DreamWorks into one grand and unique adventure,” said Michael Zhang, CEO of Firefly Games, in a statement. “We’re eager to bring exciting new content to DreamWorks fans and gamers alike.”

The game has familiar DreamWorks worlds, such as the Valley of Peace from Kung Fu Panda, the Isle of Berk from How to Train Your Dragon, the Swamp from Shrek. The movies represented in the game include Kung Fu Panda, How to Train Your Dragon, Shrek, Madagascar, The Croods, Penguins of Madagascar, Megamind,
Mr. Peabody & Sherman, Rise of the Guardians, Turbo, Monsters vs Aliens, Bee Movie, and Shark Tale.

Chinese social media is in uproar over video that appears to show two giant panda cubs being abused at Chengdu Panda Base, the country’s prestigious breeding facility for the animals.

In the video, a panda handler identified as Guo Jingpeng and a colleague can be seen handling panda cubs in a rough manner, throwing them across the floor while attempting to leave the enclosure.

The video, which surfaced online earlier this month, has recently received widespread backlash after going viral on the Chinese internet. Social media users have accused the handlers of cruelty, reports state news agency Xinhua.

The Chengdu Panda Base has been criticized for the footage, casting doubt over how well pandas are cared for at the facility.

The breeder has reportedly responded to the footage saying the animal handler acted too harshly, and that they have ordered the staff to treat the panda’s gently.

There are currently just over 1,800 giant pandas in the wild in China, according to the WWF.

In September 2016, the panda was downgraded from the endangered animal list to ‘vulnerable’ status on the global list of at risk species.

BEIJING/HONG KONG (Reuters) – In a country where you can find everything from chopsticks to slippers designed to look like pandas, one Chinese energy company is going a step further by building 100 solar farms shaped like the bears along the route of the ambitious Belt and Road initiative.

Panda Green Energy Group has already connected one such 50-megawatt (MW) plant to the grid in the northern province of Shanxi, the first step in a public relations stunt that emphasizes the cuddly side of the world’s No.2 economy.

Built with darker crystalline silicon and lighter-colored thin film solar cells, the plant resembles a cartoon giant panda from the air.

“The plant required an investment of 350 million yuan ($ 52 million), and it would require investment of $ 3 billion for 100 such plants,” Panda Green Energy’s Chief Executive Li Yuan told Reuters.

Li did not say where the longer-term investment would come from.

The Hong Kong-based firm is currently in talks with Canada, Australia, Germany and Italy to launch more panda-shaped power stations.

The Belt and Road initiative is a plan to emulate the ancient Silk Road by opening new trade corridors across the globe using roads, power lines, ports and energy pipelines.

A 100-MW panda power plant would be expected to generate 3.2 billion kilowatt-hours (kWh) of energy over 25 years, according to the company, capable of supplying power to over 10,000 households annually.

Panda Green Energy is currently constructing its second panda power plant in Shanxi, which accounts for a quarter of China’s coal reserves.

Utilization of one panda solar power plant will save the equivalent of a total 1.06 million tonnes of coal and cut emissions of greenhouse gases by 2.74 million tonnes in 25 years, the company said.

The firm has been investing in and running solar power plants in China’s major solar hubs such as Xinjiang and Qinghai province, as well as some solar projects in Britain.

Shanxi aims to install 12 gigawatts of solar capacity by 2020 versus 1.13 GW installed in 2015.

Parking inventory and booking startup SpotHero has acquired rival Parking Panda. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Founded out of Chicago in 2011, SpotHero connects garages, lots, and valets with drivers across the U.S. The company has raised $ 27 million in funding, and today’s news comes hot on the heels of a flurry of activity from the startup — back in February it launched its new developer platform to extend its parking inventory into third-party apps. And last month it launched SpotHero for Business.

Founded out of Baltimore the very same year as SpotHero, Parking Panda is a similar proposition to SpotHero, in that it allows drivers to find and reserve parking in dozens of cities across North America. However, Parking Panda has a particular focus on event parking reservations and has already established hundreds of partnerships with many sports teams from across the NHL, NFL, MLB, and NBA, in addition to teaming up with other arenas and convention centers.

Given that Parking Panda expanded into Canada in 2016, this acquisition also serves SpotHero its first international footprint, albeit only in Toronto, for now. Moreover, given Parking Panda’s existing focus on the B2B realm, this should go some way toward boosting SpotHero’s recent expansion into business parking.

Moving forward, SpotHero said that it will “accelerate its aggressive B2B product roadmap” by integrating Parking Panda’s technology. Moreover, the fact that Parking Panda’s engineering team is now joining SpotHero should go some way toward helping SpotHero build out its own platform.

“This is the most natural progression for our company,” said Parking Panda CEO and founder, Adam Zilberbaum. “By joining forces, we will have a greater impact on the transportation landscape, making parking more convenient through technology.”

Lawrence will continue to serve as SpotHero CEO, while Parking Panda’s Zilberbaum, alongside COO James Bain, will also remain with the new combined company.

SpotHero has only made one previous acquisition, back in 2015, when it snapped up San Francisco-based rival ParkPlease.
