Jasmine Harman certainly had her work cut out for her in the latest A Place in the Sun as Brian and Sue wanted a home on the outskirts of Axarquia which was a traditional Spanish villa and not overlooked by any other properties. They added their home needed two bedrooms minimum and a third would be good so they could hold parties. Brian also wanted the property to have a garage so he could move his beloved cars over. Things got off to a good start as both Brian and Sue fell for the first property they saw. But as the search continued, they found themselves conflicted over a house on a hill, which came with spectacular views of the sea and needed a little fixing up, and a hoe which was ready to move into. Jasmine gave the couple a night to mull over the properties and decide if they wanted to make an offer on either of them. It seemed Brian and Sue had a lot to discuss as they both loved different properties. READ MORE: Laura Hamilton returns to social media with ‘exciting’ news However by the time they met with Jasmine the next day, they had decided the fourth property, which was the house on the hill, was the one for them. Brian explained: “There are two fantastic options, it was a head decision it would be the immaculate house. “It’s a heart decision so it’s going to be the house on the hill. You were gobsmacked as you walked in and saw that view.” Sue agreed, adding: “You can’t change that view but you can change the inside.” Jasmine made a call to the agent but the pair were knocked back as their offer was rejected. “Absolute lowest they would go is just over £190,000 because it’s new to the market and with that view, the property could be priced a lot higher,” Jasmine told the couple. “I think it’s a very special house, I will accept their offer,” Brian smiled. “Or we will accept their offer.” Smiling, Jasmine called the agent back to confirm they had a deal as Brian and Sue were happy to pay £190,000. “They feel it is a very special place,” she told the agent. As she hung up after confirming the deal, Sue could be seen wiping tears from her eyes as she admitted her mascara was running. “It’s amazing,” she told Jasmine, as the presenter replied: “It’s so emotional. That’s really good.” A Place in the Sun airs weeknights on Channel 4 at 3pm.
Three years later, on Friday morning, the now-13-year-old was driven by chaperones across the Peace Bridge in Southern Ontario, returning to his native America to join his teammates from Whalley, B.C. in pursuit of a Little League World Series championship.
If the rain holds off, Gama and his teammates will step onto the historic baseball diamond field in this central Pennsylvania town at 6 p.m. ET to play Panama in their first game of the tournament.
It will be the culmination of a week-long odyssey to fulfil a kid's baseball dream in the face of the adult issues of unresolved immigration challenges and refugee claims.
The 13-year-old has spent most of his life in the United States. He was born in Las Vegas. His parents are Mexican. Dio's father, Noe Gama, moved to British Columbia more than a decade ago. The family's immigration process has been complicated and they are now seeking refugee status in Canada with their latest application under review.
Dio's life has been challenging at times and just getting back to his family was an ordeal.
His father says Dio walked across the U.S.-Canada border in early 2015 to be with them.
"My boy, he walked to Canada with nothing. He crossed from the [United] States to Canada. He was walking through the night," Noe said.
It was a harrowing experience for all, and especially the 10-year-old Dio.
"It's a feeling you only get once in your life. And it was tough. But look at what I'm doing now. It's pretty amazing," Dio said.
Dio is about to put on the Maple Leaf for Canada at this Little League World Series. He's spent the last year with Whalley's Little League team out of B.C. They qualified to represent the country at the prestigious tournament by winning the national championship last weekend in Mirabel, Que.
Dio is the team leader and seems to play his best baseball in the biggest games. In the title game last weekend, he finished with two triples and four RBIs. But for much of the week leading up to Canada's first game at the World Series, it looked like Dio wasn't going to be able to play with his team because of those complicated immigration issues.
The family's lawyer advised Dio he shouldn't leave the country for fear he wouldn't be let back in. But on Wednesday, the family was notified federal Immigration Minister Ahmed Hussen was granting Dio a temporary resident permit that would guarantee him re-entry into Canada.
"I'm really blessed and thankful for what people did for me," Dio said. "It shows that Canadians really do love each other and they really want to help their country become a better country."

Since Dio arrived in Canada to be with his family, including his three younger brothers, his life has become exponentially better. It's also led to Dio's baseball dream.
Prior to arriving in B.C. three years ago, Dio had never swung a bat. It wasn't until he saw other kids playing baseball at the diamond behind the family's house that he thought about trying it out.
"I thought he was a better soccer player," Noe said. "But he was always watching baseball. And then one day he asked me if he could play."
Dio picked up the game quickly. In fact, he's excelling at it now. This past season he switched teams to join Whalley in pursuit of getting to the Little League World Series. At 13, this is Dio's last chance to play in the tournament.
"It's really competitive. It's a team sport. It's not just about you. And it's giving me so many opportunities," Dio said.

This past year, Dio Gama was named athlete of the year at his school.
His dream now is to continue playing baseball, get a university scholarship and finish with a degree and then one day play Major League Baseball.Dio was named William F. Davidson Elementary school's male athlete of the year for his sporting excellence. He says he likes playing all sports but baseball is now his overwhelming favourite.
Dio has also been a key ingredient to starting a baseball league at his local churches.
"Me and my brothers hold baseball coaching clinics for about 60 kids," Dio said. "And then we all split them up into teams. My brother's team beat my team."
The baseball slugger is also helping his dad coach his brother's team.
This is his life now and he couldn't be happier.
"I think this is all going to take my future to a better place. I'm feeling really blessed and loved by Canadians," Dio said.

In a move that is sure to inspire angry mobs of tire-iron-wielding hotel guests, Walt Disney World has decided to do away with free overnight parking at its hotels. Reports began circulating this week and were soon confirmed via an official announcement to authorized travel agents.
The change will go into effect for new reservations going forward from March 21. Only disabled guests, Fort Wilderness campers, and Disney Vacation Club members will be exempt from having to pay. Depending on the class of hotel you stay in, the overnight parking fee will range from $ 13 to $ 24 per night.

Kiss the auctioned-off redhead goodbye. California’s Disneyland has announced temporary closure dates for its version of the Pirates of the Caribbean attraction. From April 23 to June 7, the ride will undergo refurbishment to remove the scene in which an audio-animatronic woman was sold into slavery.
Now the redhead will actually take up a rifle to lead the auction. I feel like there must be some sort of Westworld joke to be made here, what with the parallels between the redhead and Dolores Abernathy, the newly empowered robot revolt leader, who can also be seen brandishing a rifle in the Season 2 trailer for that show. These violent delights have violent ends?

Oh My Disney has shared a first look at “Together Forever,” the new nighttime spectacular coming to Disneyland, which includes fireworks and projection mapping themed to friendship in Pixar stories.

Over at Disney California Adventure, WDW News Today reports that the World of Color show will halt the same day the new Paint the Night parade debuts in order to facilitate the construction of Pixar Pier.

If you want to know what to expect from Pixar Pier, Disney and More has a deep dive with new concept art and videos of the upcoming land, which includes bits of elaborate theming such as a quick-service restaurant designed to resemble “a huge carton of take-out chicken.”

Lollapalooza founder Perry Farrell’s two bands, Jane’s Addiction and Porno for Pyros, and other big-name musical acts will perform (some of them holographically) at a new immersive theater hub in Las Vegas called Kind Heaven beginning in 2019. Here’s a description of the experience, via Deadline:
Kind Heaven will combine RF technology, Hollywood-style storytelling and wearable tech to immerse visitors in a personalized, exotic journey that offers the best of Southeast Asian culture, music, food, danger, fashion, exoticism, exploration, mystery and spiritual enlightenment.

In permit and patent news, Disneyland has reportedly filed a permit for a “new exit passageway and stairs to be built backstage at Space Mountain.” But the real kicker is that Disney has also filed a patent for a technology that would allow it to monitor physical indications of fright and then tailor the intensity of the ride experience to individuals based on how scared (or not scared enough) they are.
This almost sounds like something out of Monsters, Inc., with workers monitoring scare-o-meters in a control room. Guests would need to sign a waiver if this fear-based ride technology ever comes to pass in the parks, but some of the monitoring could already conceivably be done by way of the MagicBands people wear on their wrists.

Fans of the Citrus Swirl at the Magic Kingdom’s Sunshine Tree Terrace stand might not need to start a Change.org petition, after all. The float and cup were replaced on the menu this week with vegan-friendly “Orange Swirl” items, only for them to resurface days later.
Get ready for a whole new crop of construction photos and videos in the coming months. The building of TRON Lightcycle Power Run is now underway at the Magic Kingdom, which means that we can probably expect a lot of videos like the one above, in which a train horn toots sedately as a camera zooms in on trees. Behind the trees, you can see something … maybe? If you squint?

Chris Hughes/Facebook
Chris Hughes, 34, has been spending a lot of time lately thinking about his life’s trajectory. And it’s led him to reconsider what it means to be successful.
Hughes had the good fortune of being Mark Zuckerberg’s roommate at Harvard, and he helped Zuckerberg build what became Facebook. Zuckerberg considered Hughes the most socially adept of the founding team, and he helped with the site’s user experience and worked with writers to get Facebook’s first press coverage.
Hughes decided that the site wasn’t going to be his life, and stepped away after three years. But those three years got him a 2% ownership in the company, and that stake ultimately brought him $500 million after Facebook went public in 2012.
“I made a lot of money at a young age, but I didn’t feel a connection to the work that I put in,” Hughes told us in a recent episode of Business Insider’s podcast “Success! How I Did It.”
“So success, I feel like, for me, is having an opportunity to work on what I want to work on, and hopefully having an impact on the world as part of the process,” he said.
Hughes first began to feel this in college, when he knew he wasn’t willing, as Zuckerberg was, to drop out and move to California to turn their dorm room project into a real company.
“I loved working at Facebook, but it wasn’t a religion for me in the same way it was for Mark,” he said. “And I think to be able to be in the trenches and have the resilience and the dedication — with any startup, really — you have to believe in the mission of it. Almost with a kind of religious zeal.”
In 2007, he joined a group that he could have that zeal for: the initially long-shot presidential campaign of freshman US senator Barack Obama. He was praised in the media for his successful work on building Obama’s online presence.
When he found himself several years later with what he called the “boatload” of Facebook money, he decided he’d try to turn around the struggling New Republic magazine and turn it from a niche liberal journal into a mainstream hit with millions of readers. After spending $25 million over four years and dealing with an outpouring of talent in response to changes he was making, he decided to sell it.
The experience taught him, he said, that he could no longer set “really unrealistic goals.” He needed to be driven by purpose, but it needed to be grounded in reality.
It’s why with his newest project, he feels he has a clear definition of success that can guide him. As outlined in his new book “Fair Shot,” he’s working through his nonprofit the Economic Security Project to advocate for a guaranteed basic income of $500 for working Americans making under $50,000. He’s already overseeing an experiment with it in Stockton, California.
“I have to stay focused on what I care about most,” Hughes told us. “That’s the work that I do on a day-to-day basis, and, of course, my family. And as long as I’m focused on the impact that I want to have through work, through my family, then I’ll be fine.”

Warmer weather is almost upon us, and if you’re looking for a nice getaway spot, here’s a recommendation: Camp Crystal Lake. Yes, you can now spend the night at the camp location used to film the original Friday the 13th…if you dare.
If you’ve ever wanted to spend the night at a camp ground where horny teens were hacked to death, you’re in luck. Camp No-Be-Bo-Sco, a Boy Scouts camp located in sunny Hardwick, New Jersey, is opening its gates this year to let guests spend the night. The camp was used as the location for the first Friday the 13th film, where it doubled for Camp Crystal Lake. At this (fictional) camp, reckless counselors let young Jason Voorhees drown in the lake. The event would set off a seemingly endless number of horror movie sequels in which Jason’s mother, and then later the rotting, unstoppable zombie of Jason himself, set out for bloody revenge. Heads were smashed, pot was smoked, and Crispin Glover danced his ass off.
None of that will happen during your stay at the camp (maybe), but at the very least, this is a neat opportunity for fans of the franchise. Adrienne King, who played Final Girl Alice in the first film (and had a brief cameo in the second) will also be on hand. Ticket prices vary, but certain tickets include dinner and breakfast. No word on which ticket will bring about your quick, bloody demise, though. Who knows, you might get lucky.
Full details about the stay are below. Good luck, campers.

At least two people taking part in pro- and anti-government rallies in Iran were killed, local media reported, citing officials. These are the first fatalities attributed to the recent mass protests.
The deaths were reported in the city of Doroud (Dorud), 325 kilometers southwest of Tehran, in Iran’s western Lorestan Province, the semi-official Mehr News Agency reported. The unauthorized rally ignited clashes, Habibollah Khojastepour, the security deputy of Lorestan’s governor, told the agency, adding that two protesters were killed in the clashes.
“The gathering was to be ended peacefully, but due to the presence of the [agitators], unfortunately, this happened,” Khojastepour said. The official did not specify the causes of the deaths, adding that “no bullets were shot from police and security forces at the people.”
The ongoing protests across Iran started on Thursday as a demonstration against soaring food prices and unemployment, snowballing into the biggest anti-government movement in eight years.
Speaking to state TV, Khojastehpour said that those killed in Doroud were targeted by foreign agents, not the police, Reuters reports. “We have found evidence of enemies of the revolution, Takfiri [Sunni extremists] groups and foreign agents in this clash.”

A TUI plane punctured two tyres on the runway at Fuerteventura Airport leaving the airport closed for several hours.
Dozens of flights were disrupted including a Jet2 flight to Newcastle which was due to depart at 9:30pm on Monday.
Around 200 people were due to board the plane ended up being ushered intoan arrival lounge and spent the night sleeping on the floor, passengers said.
Longbenton grandmother, Brenda Prior, 69, and her wheelchair-using sister Iris Mowett, 73, spent an uncomfortable night on the airport floor with no information from Jet2 staff.
“We were told there would be a delay when we checked in but didn’t think it would be anything like this,” she told the Chronicle.
“There’s around 200 of us waiting, the plane that was supposed to take us home was diverted to Lanzarote so we’re just waiting.
“At around half three the Jet2 staff disappeared and we’ve just been left, it’s shocking really, my sister is in a wheelchair and there’s little ones here all lying on the floor.
“We’ve been given €20 for food and water but theres only got us a sandwich. It’s shocking, it’s not good enough.”
Newcastle Airport website says the flight is now scheduled to arrive at 7:30pm on Tuesday, though Brenda said they’ve not been told that.
Lisa Henderson, 33, from Consett, has been stranded with her two-year-old baby and her partner overnight.
She said: “We’ve run out of nappies and I was told just to ask for some from other parents.
“No one knows what is going on, there are cockroaches crawling on the floor and we’ve had to break into the cafe to get milk for our babies.
“It’s been 12 hours now with no food or sleep and there’s no assistance.”
A spokesperson for Jet2 said it has been unable to secure overnight accommodation for the stranded passengers on Monday night and apologised
for the situation.
They said: “Due to an incident involving another airline at Fuerteventura Airport, the runway was closed for several hours, causing major disruption to all airlines flying to and from Fuerteventura. As a result, our scheduled LS522 flight to Newcastle was unable to depart.
“Despite our best efforts, we were unable to source suitable accommodation at such short notice, however we will be taking our customers to a hotel today where lunch and day room facilities will be available before their flight departs at 5pm.
“We apologise to all affected customers for any inconvenience caused by these extraordinary circumstances, which were completely beyond out control.”
In July this year, a Jet2 plane made a dramatic emergency landing for the second time in two weeks.
One person was killed and three more injured last night in gunfire in front of a club in the Hohenschönhausen neighborhood in northwestern Berlin, local police reported.
Local newspaper BZ reports that the gunfire occurred around 2:15am local time (12:15am GMT) outside a night club in Ribnitzer Strasse.
So far there are no reports regarding the severity of the injuries of the three people. The incident was apparently preceded by a dispute between several people.
