NBC’s popular retail comedy Superstore came to an end this month with a sweet and satisfying series finale. Viewers had hoped a proposed spin-off centred on Cloud 9 supervisor Cheyenne Lee (played by Nichole Sakura) and her husband, Bo Thompson (Johnny Pemberton), would continue the story, but the network has sadly pulled the plug on the new series.

A proposed Superstore spin-off starring Nichole Sakura and Johnny Pemberton’s husband and wife pairing Cheyenne and Bo has just been axed by NBC.

The couple have been a mainstay of the series since they got engaged in the very first episode of the successful work based comedy.

Producers Bridget Kyle and Vicky Luu would have helmed the Superstore follow-up, which would follow the pair as they try to “balance their big dreams with the harsh realities of being a blue-collar family in America.”

Sadly, despite a surge in popularity during the pandemic, it appears Cloud 9 will be closing its doors for good after this week’s finale.

Nichole Sakura said of the proposed series: “I’ve gotten to read the pilot script, and it’s really funny.

“So hopefully we’ll get made and can bring back some of the ‘Superstore’ cast to pop into that and still be part of this same world. I’m just remaining hopeful, but stay tuned.”

Unfortunately, the pilot will remain unproduced, as Kyle confirmed to cleveland.com last Friday.

She said: “Unfortunately, yesterday NBC notified us that they’re not going forward with the ‘Superstore’ spin-off.”

And another wrote: “Hopefully there’ll be some sort of spinoff or another show. There’s a big cast, lots of potential ideas. Just carry on at the fulfilment centre, or Glenn’s new store.”

However, others admitted Cheyenne and Bo wouldn’t have been their first choice of characters to feature in their own series.

A third viewer said: “I like Cheyenne but she isn’t a leading character in my opinion, and Bo shouldn’t ever be a main character appearing in every episode.”

Still, Cheyenne’s former Cloud 9 colleagues were expected to make cameo appearances, and no doubt a roster of new supporting characters would have balanced out the cast.

After recently being made available on Netflix, Superstore came to an end after six seasons on NBC last Thursday.

In the bittersweet series finale, conglomerate company Zephra puts the teams’ jobs at risk after turning their store into a fulfilment centre.

Fans also got to see a touching reunion between Amy Sosa (America Ferrera) and ex-boyfriend Jonah Simms (Ben Feldman) after Amy departed for California at the start of this season.

Superstore seasons 1-5 are available to stream on Netflix.

Saturday Night Takeaway viewers outraged as guest refuses to play ‘Shouldn’t be allowed’ https://briefnews.eu/saturday-night-takeaway-viewers-outraged-as-guest-refuses-to-play-shouldnt-be-allowed/ https://briefnews.eu/saturday-night-takeaway-viewers-outraged-as-guest-refuses-to-play-shouldnt-be-allowed/#respond Sun, 07 Mar 2021 09:36:57 +0000 https://briefnews.eu/saturday-night-takeaway-viewers-outraged-as-guest-refuses-to-play-shouldnt-be-allowed/

Every Saturday on Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway, the ITV presenting pair give one lucky viewer at home the chance to – not just watch the ads – but win them. However, tonight’s episode took everyone by surprise when lucky audience member Nazeem tuning in from home decided she’d stick with the handful of prizes she’d won already, instead of risking everything to take all on offer.

“Well done, that is six questions correct,” Dec said to Nazeem after shed secured her final prize.

“But, of course, you’ve got no idea which six prizes you have,” he continued. “And now, you have a decision to make.”

Ant then jumped in: “You’re going to decide whether to stay with the prizes you’ve or play for a chance to take all 16.

“We’ll ask you one final question, the wrong answer means you lose all those prizes.”

However, Dec then pointed out that this series is a little trickier because viewers at home don’t get a chance to see what Nazeem had already won.

“She’d see as well,” Dec pointed out. “We’re all in the same boat. None of us know which prizes are where.”

Turning to the virtual audience for their opinions on what they would do with six prizes in the bank, the answer was pretty unanimous.

The hundreds of fans on the Saturday Night Takeaway virtual audience made it clear they’d be up to play further.

“There’s a lot of thumbs up, I think that’s play,” Ant said.

After asking if she wanted to “stay or play”, Ant and Dec listened intently as Nazeem took her time.

However, eventually, she decided she wasn’t going to risk the prizes she’d already guaranteed herself – much to everyone’s surprise.

Instead, she took home six prizes out of 16, which included the likes of toothpaste, a year’s worth of Jaffa cakes, a £5,000 Moonpig voucher, and a holiday courtesy of Tui.

Despite the relatively impressive haul, a number of Saturday Night Takeaway viewers took to social media to voice their frustrations at playing it safe.

“OMG can’t remember the last time that happen…. #SaturdayNightTakeaway,” one fan said on Twitter, with a second agreeing: “That’s the first time I’ve ever seen anyone stay! What the hell?? #SaturdayNightTakeaway.”

A third weighed in: “She’s going to stay?! I don’t think I’ve ever heard that before… I love how slowly they’re revealing the prizes to fill time! And still asking her the question anyway. #SaturdayNightTakeaway.”

For series with seasons split into two halves, Netflix tends to leave a gap of six months or more to let fans mull over the latest developments.

Following the first half of season five’s late summer release, an early spring premiere could be the most likely scenario for season five, part two.

A recent influx of updates from the cast and crew from the set of season six have also raised hopes, so fans will have to keep their eyes peeled for the official word from Netflix.

Lucifer Season 5, Part 1 is available to stream on Netflix.

Liar season 2: ITV viewers outraged over shock arrest for Andrew’s murder ‘Too obvious’ https://briefnews.eu/liar-season-2-itv-viewers-outraged-over-shock-arrest-for-andrews-murder-too-obvious/ https://briefnews.eu/liar-season-2-itv-viewers-outraged-over-shock-arrest-for-andrews-murder-too-obvious/#respond Mon, 02 Mar 2020 23:57:04 +0000 https://briefnews.eu/liar-season-2-itv-viewers-outraged-over-shock-arrest-for-andrews-murder-too-obvious/

Laura Neilson (played by Joanne Froggatt) believed her ordeal at the hands of Andrew (Ioan Gruffudd) was finally over as the first season of Liar concluded two years ago. With the rapist exposed, it was thought his victims might finally get justice until a shock twist saw him end up dead. This evening’s first instalment of the second outing from the ITV drama saw the story pick up just days after the cliffhanger ending. However, viewers were left infuriated as the police believed they had the right suspect.

With Metropolitan police detective Karen Renton (Katherine Kelly) brought in to try and crack the case, one of the first people she spoke to was school teacher Laura.

The latter had more motive than most to commit murder, given the lengths she had to go to prove Andrew had raped her.

What didn’t help matters is that after a member of the authorities got a warrant to search her property, they discovered a set of car keys belonging to the deceased in her bedside cabinet.

As she was brought in for questioning, her reluctant to admit she killed her attacker led to the DI to arrest her suspect and viewers were not pleased.

Taking to Twitter, fans flocked to the social media platform to voice their fury over Laura being the prime suspect in the case.

One wrote: “Surely they wouldn’t be able to arrest someone on such little evidence and not let them have a lawyer in real life? And can’t they check her movements on CCTV? #Liar.”

Another added: “There’s a list of suspects and she arrests her #Liar,” to which a third commented: “Apart from a car key, she has no real evidence to arrest her? #Liar.”

A fourth shared: “#Liar no way was it her… too obvious still think its womans girlfriend who did it.”[sic].

The school teacher had no idea how the car key ended up in her property, piling on the strength to DI Renton’s case she was the one who struck the killer blow.

However, viewers have voiced their theories to who could have planted the incriminating evidence, with Laura’s sister Katy Sutcliffe (Zoe Tapper) sitting at the top of the list.

Back in season one, it was revealed the latter worked at the same hospital as Andrew and there were several scenes when they were in the same changing room together.

Although it may seem strange the sister wanted to set up her sibling, it should also be remembered Laura was left devastated when it emerged Katy had been having an affair with her boyfriend, Tom Bailey (Warren Brown).

Consequences of the reveal led to the breakdown of her marriage and tensions arising between the siblings, so could Katy resent her sister enough to frame her?

One viewer wrote on Twitter: “Laura’s sister was the one with the key possibly she planted it in her place trying to frame Laura #Liar.”

Following her arrest, Laura made a call to her sibling and told her: “He’s not going to ruin my life all over again.”

But in a shock twist, will it be her loved one who is going to turn her world upside down this time around?

Liar continues Monday at 9pm on ITV.

EastEnders viewers outraged as Dennis Rickman dies in boat party tragedy: ‘I can’t cope’ https://briefnews.eu/eastenders-viewers-outraged-as-dennis-rickman-dies-in-boat-party-tragedy-i-cant-cope/ https://briefnews.eu/eastenders-viewers-outraged-as-dennis-rickman-dies-in-boat-party-tragedy-i-cant-cope/#respond Fri, 21 Feb 2020 22:09:35 +0000 https://briefnews.eu/eastenders-viewers-outraged-as-dennis-rickman-dies-in-boat-party-tragedy-i-cant-cope/

Dennis (played by Bleu Landau) defied his mother Sharon Mitchell’s (Letitia Dean) orders by making his way onto the doomed voyage as EastEnders marked it’s 35th anniversary this week. Unfortunately, his wayward ways caught up with him and Ian Beale (Adam Woodyatt) was the one to teach him a lesson as he locked the teenager in the chamber of the vessel before disaster struck. Although the youngster made it off the flooded boat in this evening’s edition of the BBC soap, scenes towards the end of the episode showed he was the unlucky victim of the disaster. However, viewers weren’t too happy.

As the groundhog day theme played throughout the week came to an end, the events of the rescue mission played out in real time tonight.

With the vessel quickly filling with water, Ian made desperate attempts to free Dennis from his prison after losing the keys to the chamber.

Although he smashed a hole in the door, there was a struggle to get the troublesome character out and by the time they reached dry land, emergency services were waiting to attend to the pair.

Valiant efforts were made to save Sharon’s son’s life, but it was unsuccessful as he was revealed to be the victim of the anniversary disaster and viewers quickly took to Twitter to voice their outrage.

One posted on the social media platform: “Called it. What a shame. The potential future storylines Dennis had in the future and they’ve killed him off. #EastEnders #EastEnders35.”

Another added: “Oh s*** I did not have it down that Dennis would die. How tragic he’s so young.  #eastenders .”

Whilst a third commented: “It’s Denny! As much as he is a pain in the a*** he shouldn’t die like that!  #EastEnders.”

A fourth remarked: “They’ve killed off Denny. I can’t cope. His character had so much potential. Man, I’m emotional #Eastenders #Eastenders35.”

However, what Sharon doesn’t know is Ian had some involvement as to why her son was trapped on the boat when it began to sink into the Thames.

The coming weeks will see the repercussions of the teenager’s death play out, but it’s not been confirmed what exactly this will entail.

Teasing the future of the soap after Dennis demise, Head of Continuing Drama Kate Oates explained why he was the character who needed to be killed off.

Speaking with press, including Express.co.uk, the soap boss said: “It’s true of any soap or drama – you want consequence.”

“That is the main thing that comes out of Dennis’s death. It is where it goes, it’s the people who are left behind and the story that it generates. It is very well thought out.

“There is something almost Greek about it as it could be argued that it’s been set up for quite some time. We discussed it in depth and actually had a lot of arguments about it,” Kate explained.

Executive Producer Jon Sen added: “In retrospect you’ll see that there is only ever one candidate really who can generate the story we wanted to tell going forward for months and months.”

Will Sharon ever discover the true circumstances surrounding Dennis’ death?

EastEnders continues Monday at 8pm on BBC One.

Countryfile: “Hypocrisy!” Viewers outraged at farmer’s wish to get rid of sea eagles https://briefnews.eu/countryfile-hypocrisy-viewers-outraged-at-farmers-wish-to-get-rid-of-sea-eagles/ https://briefnews.eu/countryfile-hypocrisy-viewers-outraged-at-farmers-wish-to-get-rid-of-sea-eagles/#respond Sun, 19 May 2019 21:35:04 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/countryfile-hypocrisy-viewers-outraged-at-farmers-wish-to-get-rid-of-sea-eagles/

Countryfile presenter Tom Heap was finding out more about the reintroduction of sea eagles to the UK’s countryside in today’s episode of the BBC show.

The white tailed eagle, also known as the sea eagle, was hunted to extinction in the United Kingdom by the early 20th century but in the early 1970s, new populations of the predator were introduced in parts of western Scotland and the birds have become a huge tourist attraction.

Licenses have now been granted for 60 sea eagles to be introduced on the Isle of Wight over a period of five years, with the hope that the birds will spread across the south coast.

However this controversial plan to boost the numbers of Britain’s biggest bird of prey is not good news for everyone.

Tom spoke to one family of farmers who claimed eagles nestling nearby have killed 180 of their lambs.

Speaking about the deaths, Morag Buchanan said: “It’s horrendous, it’s soul destroying, that’s your future.”

The presenter explained he believed these eagles only prey on lambs that are weak in some way or are dead.

However, Morag and her husband disagreed, revealing in their case, the lambs had definitely been alive and well.

She continued: “The birds that have proven to be a problem have to be removed,” to which Tom asked if she meant they should be culled.

“Do what they like but get them out of here,” she replied.

Countryfile viewers were outraged by the comments and believed the preservation of the birds should come before the interests of the farmers.

One said: “Sea eagles photographed over Mull carrying a lamb. Oh the outrage. If the eagle hadn’t taken it the farmer would’ve sold it for meat. Hypocrisy #countryfile.”

“With all due respect, when it’s a choice between increasing biodiversity and farmers’ livelihoods taking a slight hit, the answer should always, ALWAYS be biodiversity. Sorry not sorry. #Countryfile,” wrote another.

A third tweeted: “Oooh. Lady lamb farmer not very nature friendly about the eagles. #countryfile.”

“So the farmers are complaining about sea eagles killing the odd lamb? Err, what great plans did you have for their future then? #countryfile.”

Other viewers enthused about the predator and praised Countryfile for tackling such an important issue. One said: “#Countryfile What a gorgeous bird.”

“Wow I’d love for sea eagles to be reintroduced to the #IsleofWight and the south coast. Amazing birds #Countryfile,” remarked another.

A third added: “Good to @RoyDennisWF on #countryfile this evening – talking sense in a balanced fashion as always #seaeagles.”

Meanwhile, in last week’s episode Joe Crowley was horrified after a guest hammered deer legs into a river as a way of replenishing the benefits that salmon provide to the waters.

When salmon die in the water their carcass’ nutrients aid the river but as their stocks deplete, deer legs can be used as a replacement for those missing nutrients.

Countryfile airs Sunday at 7pm on BBC One.

ITV GMB: Richard Madeley doesn't know where to look as viewers outraged at NAKED Remainer https://briefnews.eu/itv-gmb-richard-madeley-doesnt-know-where-to-look-as-viewers-outraged-at-naked-remainer/ https://briefnews.eu/itv-gmb-richard-madeley-doesnt-know-where-to-look-as-viewers-outraged-at-naked-remainer/#respond Tue, 12 Feb 2019 13:43:27 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/itv-gmb-richard-madeley-doesnt-know-where-to-look-as-viewers-outraged-at-naked-remainer/

Good Morning Britain was hosted by Kate Garraway and Richard Madeley today and viewers tuned in to see the show discuss the latest on Brexit.

But it was a discussion with a difference as joining them in the studio was Dr Victoria Bateman, a naked Brexit protestor and Henry Newman, the Director at Open Europe.

Scenes aired on national television saw Dr Victoria sit in the studio completely naked, with no clothes on to cover her modesty, however Good Morning Britain had made the decision to blur out her body parts and only show from her shoulders upwards

Instead she had the words ‘Brexit leaves Britain naked’ written across her body and for the hosts of the morning show, it was an awkward interview.

Whilst Kate explained how her choice to campaign was “shocking”, Richard commented: “As the only male presenter here, I don’t find it at all shocking, it’s unusual it’s a bit strange but it’s not shocking or rude.”

He added the crew’s  main problem had been where to put the microphone.

As for those who were watching at home, they took too Twitter in masses to discuss Dr Victoria’s method of getting a message heard. One said: “This is a very intelligent woman, what the hell is she up to being naked? #GMB.”

“This naked lady says women don’t have a voice, sorry but women who fought for us to vote wore respectful clothing, yes they really wore all their clothes so we could vote which is amazing, we do have a voice, no need to be naked #GMB,” another pointed out.

A third questioned: “@GMB How will this make a difference?” Whilst another added: “She is more about her body rather than the actual argument… every answer was “my body” not Brexit.”

“Pure stunt! No way would any man be allowed to do the same stunt. She has said nothing that hasn’t already been said!” A viewer mentioned.

“The intention was to have a serious discussion on BREXIT instead the main topic was hijacked by her nudity,” one remarked.

“@GMB I honestly could not believe what I was watching! Such an important issue on Brexit and GMB have this nudist debating about her body!!! Really!!! Complete waste of air time! There’s far more pressing things GMB can are on TV! So disappointed!!!” An outraged viewer expressed.

Some however praised her courage to bare all on national television.

One tweeted: “@GMB Good on her to be brave enough to do what she does. Also what she is going is getting everyone talking.”

“This was actually brilliant idc. Victoria Bateman is a modern day Lady Godiva for sure,” a second championed.

As for why Dr Victoria decided to protest naked in order to get her message heard she explained the detailed reason behind her visual metaphor.

“The key message that I have to deliver is Brexit is the new emperor’s clothes, that what high profile Brexiteers promised Brexit voters is just not possible to deliver,” she began.

How will this make a difference?

Twitter user.

Opposing her view was Henry Newman, who called her argument a “stunt” and agreed with some who called her an exhibitionist.

“No, I am not an exhibitionist,” the doctor clearly stated. “I am a woman comfortable in my own body who is happy to use my body to deliver an important message.”

Henry hit back and said: “I haven’t heard a new argument. The points you make about the economic risks of leaving were spoke about back in 2016.”

When asked if the stunt had drawn new focus to Brexit, Henry said: “It’s embarrassing”.

“Brexit has serious questions, I don’t think it is serious to be naked,” he concluded.

“The British economy faces many, many problems right now – shortage of housing, problems with the NHS, wages stagnating, too many people up and down the country using food banks.

“But the European Union is not the cause of those problems. How is Brexit going to help us solve those problems that are at the heart of our daily struggles up and down the country?”

It comes after Dr Victoria Bateman hit headlines when she invited Jacob Rees-Mogg to a ‘naked debate’.

The Cambridge economics profession challenged the Brexiteer Tory MP whilst appeared on BBC Radio 4’s Today Programme with John Humphrys last week.

She was initially seen wearing a coat which she then proceeded to take off in order to support her argument.

She told John: “I thought what I do was condense down all those thousands of words into a single simply message that Brexit leaves Britain naked.

“There’s nothing illegal about it, it’s perfectly fine to be in a studio like that. I don’t think it’s out of character for me. I don’t think a radio show or a TV show would invite me on if they were adverse to me removing my clothes.”

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV.
