During the conversation, Miller suggested June will continue to put her life at risk as the war against Gilead’s regime starts to reignite. He explained: “June is going into a very interesting world, she’s on the run, she’s got women with her who she feels responsible for. “She’s also bleeding to death, basically, at the end of season [three]. June has a taste of freedom now, and we’re going to follow her.” Miller went on and previewed what he promised to be a completely different take on the world of The Handmaid’s Tale next time round. Dan was enlisted on a secret mission in the Celebrity Big Brother house this evening as Nick was brought to the diary room. While Nick was fitted with a pedometer – unbeknownst to him – Dan gathered the rest of the house to tell them about the secret mission. He explained that they need to get at least 1,500 steps on Nick’s pedometer in order for him to receive his letter from home. Ready to take on the task, the team were eager to get Nick up and running around so he could get his letter from his children. However Dan shocked viewers a little whilst he was reading out the instructions for the task. As he muttered the rules he said: “Nick has been fitted with a… pedometer? What is that?” And fans were utterly gobsmacked, as they were quick to point out that Dan used to be a personal trainer. Harder Singh Kohli kindly explained that the device in question counted steps for Dan, but fans weren’t satisfied. They began to rage on Twitter, confused by the gap in Dan’s knowledge. One wrote: “Dan used to be a personal trainer yet he didn’t know what a pedometer was #CBB,” riddled with laughing emojis. Another said: “Btw Dan is meant to be a personal trainer? Doesn’t know what a pedometer is though… #cbb.” “He doesn’t know what a pedometer is? #cbb,” added a third. One more joked: “You’d think Dan would of known what a pedometer is – you know, the way he’s that much into his fitness! #cbb #CelebrityBigBrother #CBBDan.” Fortunately for Dan, he worked out the rest of the task, and quickly began a relay in the garden with the rest of the house. This was more than enough to put Nick’s pedometer over the edge, as he finished the secret task with over 6,000 steps. Nick was then granted his letter from home, which was written by his children who spoke about their first day back at school. Nick, overcome with emotion, rested his head on the dining room table and cried after being read the words by Dan. He wasn’t the only person to have an emotional day, as Hardeep found himself upset in the diary room. Speaking to Big Brother he explained how he was feeling lost without some intelligent conversation. When Big Brother confessed they liked speaking to him, he burst into tears, and went on to say: “It’d just be so much fun if you guys were in here. I like talking to you a great deal more [than his housemates].” Celebrity Big Brother continues tomorrow at 9pm on Channel 5.
Seemingly not satisfied with being editor of London’s Evening Standard newspaper or taking on his reported, one-day-a-week, six-figure salary to advise BlackRock, the world’s biggest investment fund manager, or for that matter his myriad of academic appointments; Osborne has taken on another role to add to his expanding list.
Osborne will be chairman of the ‘partners council’ of Exor, the listed holding company of the Agnellis, who are said to be one of Italy’s wealthiest families, with an estimated fortune in excess of $ 13 billion, according to the Times.
The Agnelli family owns Italian football club Juventus, and car companies Ferrari and Fiat, as well as a number of other businesses, including US reinsurer PartnerRe.
Responding to the appointment, John Elkann – head of the family and chairman and chief executive of Exor, and whose personal worth is estimated at more than $ 800 million – said Osborne would “bring his unique knowledge and viewpoint to the council’s work.”
London Evening Standard editor-in-chief Osborne said in a statement: “I am delighted to have been asked to chair this impressive panel of business leaders.
“They bring a wealth of experience from different industries and geographies.
“I look forward to chairing discussion that I am sure will provide useful insights and ideas for Exor and its companies.”
Osborne was widely criticized for taking on a host of jobs while still an MP. He was announced to be the editor of the Evening Standard in March 2017. Labour’s Andrew Gwynne, the shadow secretary of state for communities and local government, described Osborne’s appointment as a “matter for great concern” that “does a disservice” to other MPs.
Several months later, following widespread criticism, he quit Parliament.
Now Osborne’s latest appointment could once again raise questions about how the ex-chancellor can juggle so many different jobs at once.

A celebratory tweet from ex-Tory chancellor George Osborne was attacked on Twitter. The now-Evening Standard editor hailed “the national effort” to decrease public spending – he was soon reminded the cost of his “savings.”
The UK’s public finances have improved but only after the introduction of major austerity measures, most of which have impacted the poorest in Britain. The deficit in the nation’s day-to-day budget was eliminated as Osborne had planned it to be, albeit two years too late to meet his target.
Osborne tweeted on Thursday: “We got there in the end — a remarkable national effort. Thank you.”
The former Prime Minister and Osborne’s friend, David Cameron, also tweeted his support.
The public services include prisons, which are severely understaffed and where prisoners order drugs to their cells. They include local authorities, where services like day centre transport for isolated, vulnerable adults have been cut and day centres for the disabled have been reduced or closed.
Twitter users, many of whom evidently supported Labour, gladly reminded Osborne about the effects his policies have had. Many referred to a shocking study that accused the government of being responsible for thousands of deaths.
Austerity was always a political project – look at these two gloating.
It hasn’t been a success for those suffering the impact of the cuts but of course Tories don’t care about you.https://t.co/SW1wldArsj

Here’s @George_Osborne crowing about austerity… & here’s IMF graph showing the damage done by austerity around the world. Behind each point lie thousands of careers ruined, homes repossessed, hungry children – and, yes, many, many deaths. A human catastrophe. A complete waste. pic.twitter.com/OreAigZK1L

I’m sure your gratitude will be posthumously appreciated by those who died as a result of your policies. “National effort” implies a choice, of which there was none.

George it’s a shame vulnerable people were made to pay for your friends in the city wrecking the economy. I notice you chose to leave the billions stashed offshore by the people that fund your party alone.

A shocking study published in the British Medical Journal estimates that between 2010 and 2017 some 120,000 lives were cut short due to the austerity measures introduced by the Conservatives, first in coalition with the Liberal Democrats and then alone.
The researchers from University College London, Oxford and Cambridge universities, found that mortality rates in the UK had declined steadily from 2001 to 2010, but this reversed sharply and the death rate grew again after austerity came in. The study accused Tories of “economic murder” and said a reversal to pre-2010 levels would cost £25.3 billion.

It was recently revealed that Pat (played by Connor McIntyre) would set his sights on the young man after he was seen following Daniel (Rob Mallard) to an elderly care home last week.
Spotted with a glint in his eye and clearly with a sinister plan in mind, the killer then suspiciously waited in his car for Daniel to return.
Ken Barlow’s (William Roache) son has been noticeably absent from the ITV soap of late, but Pat’s sudden interest in him is worrying to say the least.
Following the shocking moment when he pushed his dad down the stairs earlier this year, the troubled character later managed to build bridges with his old rival Chesney Brown (Sam Aston) after saving his life from a stab-wound in the Bistro.
In the new pictures, actors Connor and Rob can be seen arriving to the secret set, before they are quickly ushered inside a full-covered outdoor area.
With crew tightly guarding the scene that’s surrounded by metal barriers and black-out boards, it stands to reason that the pair’s scenes could be important, perhaps even setting the stage for a huge exit for one of the actors.
It was recently revealed that Pat’s crimes will finally be discovered in upcoming scenes for the soap, with newcomer Nicola Rubinstein (Nicola Thorpe) as the Liverpool-native’s long-lost daughter at the forefront of the drama.
Spoilers also tease that Nicola’s new boyfriend – a policeman – could be involved in the eventual reveal.
Speaking to Christine Lampard on Lorraine, Nicola explained: “It’s got to come out at some point.
“He either owns up to it or does everything he can to hide what he’s done,” she hinted.
The soap star went on to add that the storyline will unfold over the next couple of months, saying: “It’s going to be unfolding over autumn. If you don’t watch Coronation Street, now is the time!”
Coronation Street continues tonight at 7.30pm on ITV.
Having only just got to grips with his new role as editor of the London Evening Standard, ex-Tory Chancellor George Osborne has accepted yet another job, taking up the role of professor at the University of Manchester. The architect of austerity now has six jobs.
The former chancellor’s new role is due to begin in July and will entail a few unpaid lectures and visits a year. He is reportedly “bowled over” by the “honor,” according to the Independent.
Osborne is also an adviser to investment management firm BlackRock, chairman of the Northern Powerhouse Partnership, a fellow at US think tank the McCain Institute, and a speaker for the Washington Speakers Bureau, for which he makes lucrative after-dinner speeches around the world.
One colleague told the Financial Times the appointment was a “coup” for the university. They added, perhaps somewhat sarcastically, that Osborne will “relish” teaching austerity to angry young supporters of Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn.
In a letter to students and staff, Osborne said the University of Manchester is one of the “jewels in the crown” of the Northern Powerhouse.
He said the institution “was at the centre of so many things I tried to achieve as Chancellor, from the promotion of new science to the building of the links between this country and countries like China.”
“I remain completely committed to that idea that together the different communities in the North can work together so that the whole is greater than the parts – and I believe more strongly than I ever did that the entire county, including our capital, would benefit from a stronger North,” he added.
“That’s why I remain closely involved as chair of the Northern Powerhouse Partnership – and look forward to playing a part in the life of The University of Manchester.”
Professor Dame Nancy Rothwell, president and vice-chancellor of the University of Manchester, called his appointment “exciting news.”
“He has been a leader at the top level of UK and world economic policy for many years and showed the vision to recognize the enormous economic and scientific potential of graphene to the UK.
“Our students and staff will benefit from all of this experience and he will be invaluable in helping the university to support the growth of our city and region.”
The news hasn’t been quite as warmly welcomed on Twitter.
Has anyone considered the possibility that it’s actually George Osborne coming over here and taking our jobs?

in the wake of the latest george osborne news, i want to let it be known i will also take on any high paying job that i’m not qualified for

“In the wake of the latest George Osborne news, I want to let it be known I will also take on any high paying job that I’m not qualified for,” one user tweeted.
A BA in Modern History has led George Osborne to Chancellor, newspaper Editor and a Honorary Professorship, privilege over credibility 🤔

No word of a lie, George Osborne just showed up to fix our washing machine. Parts & labour reasonable price. Clean & well-mannered.Recommend

Another suggested Osborne, who said there would be a recession if Britain voted for Brexit, should “brush up on some economics given the dire warning he made during the referendum campaign that have failed to materialize.”
Former UKIP leader Nigel Farage tweeted: “The man that got Brexit totally wrong & doubled national debt becomes Economics Professor. You can’t make this stuff up.”

You’d be hard-pressed to find someone who loved movies as much as Robert Osborne, the primetime host of Turner Classic Movies ever since the cable network launched back in 1994. Sadly, Osborne has gone to that great movie theater in the sky as the television host and former actor has passed away at 84.
Below, we remember Robert Osborne’s dedication to cinema and some career milestones you may not have known about.
Today we say good-bye to a dear member of our TCM family. Our thoughts are with all who love, as we do, Robert Osborne. #TCMRemembers pic.twitter.com/egWsPRGnJb

News of Robert Osborne dead was announced by Turner Classic Movies with an official statement from general manager Jennifer Dorian:
“All of us at Turner Classic Movies are deeply saddened by the death of Robert Osborne. Robert was a beloved member of the Turner family for more than 23 years. He joined us as an expert on classic film and grew to be our cherished colleague and esteemed ambassador for TCM. Robert was embraced by devoted fans who saw him as a trusted expert and friend. His calming presence, gentlemanly style, encyclopedic knowledge of film history, fervent support for film preservation and highly personal interviewing style all combined to make him a truly world-class host. Robert’s contributions were fundamental in shaping TCM into what it is today and we owe him a debt of gratitude that can never be repaid. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends at this time.”
Before Robert Osborne became the face of Turner Classic Movies, he followed his passion for entertainment from Washington to Hollywood where he worked as an actor who was on contract to Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz’s Desilu production banner. In addition to appearing on the stage show The Desilu Revue, Osborne made appearances on The Beverly Hillbillies and One Step Beyond, not to mentioned uncredited appearances in Psycho and Spartacus. Eventually he would appear as in himself in an episode of The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, in addition to spoofing himself in an episode of Adult Swim’s Harvey Birdman, Attorney at Law that was called “Turner Classic Birdman.”
Outside of his brush with acting, Osborne found his true calling my sharing his love for film and entertainment with others. He was on staff with The Hollywood Reporter in 1977 and had his own column over there from 1982 through 2009. In 1986 he would start to settle into a comfortable career path as a host on The Movie Channel, introducing films from 1986 through 1993, right up until he started his turn at TCM.
As time went on, TCM became the only channel who kept hosts around to introduce the movies they were about to show. In addition, he became a staple of the network even more with the “Essentials” series of films, which saw him introducing movies alongside the likes of Carrie Fisher, Alec Baldwin and Drew Barrymore. In case there was any doubt that Robert Osborne was known for his work on TCM, Saturday Night Live even spoofed the “Essentials” series with Jason Sudeikis playing Osborne.
Outside of hosting duties on TCM, Osborne also hosted the network’s TCM Classic Film Festival from 1010 through 2014 and he was the official greeter on the red carpet for the Academy Awards from 2006 to 2010.
In recent years, Osborne had to take medical leave, but would return to TCM with a smaller set of responsibilities, leaving Ben Mankiewicz to take over some of his on-air duties. Mankiewicz penned his own tribute to Osborne over at The Hollywood Reporter if you want to read it.
