The release of the new opening credits come after actor Sam teased the new series on the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.

“It’s a great show, and I think this season is probably stronger than last season,” he explained.

“My character – he’s been pitted against his godfather [Murtagh, played by Duncan Lacroix].

“He’s now on the side of the redcoats – the British. We’re in America, of course, and the war is coming.”

Will Jamie hand Murtagh over to the redcoats or betray the British?

Outlander season 5 airs Sunday, February 16 on Starz and Monday, February 17 on Amazon Prime Video.

Strictly 2019: Tess Daly and Claudia leave viewers distracted with opening – did you see? https://briefnews.eu/strictly-2019-tess-daly-and-claudia-leave-viewers-distracted-with-opening-did-you-see/ https://briefnews.eu/strictly-2019-tess-daly-and-claudia-leave-viewers-distracted-with-opening-did-you-see/#respond Mon, 25 Nov 2019 13:11:21 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/strictly-2019-tess-daly-and-claudia-leave-viewers-distracted-with-opening-did-you-see/

Strictly Come Dancing returned to BBC One with the results show and hosts Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman were back at the helm. Following an incredible performance by Andrea Bocelli, the presenters emerged to introduce the show, but those watching at home were distracted by what they were wearing and took to Twitter to comment.

Tess and Claudia are known for their daring and brave fashion choices, in the past they have donned luminous heels and sparkly floor length dresses, but last night, fans were not convinced with their dresses of choice.

One said: “I don’t get how the dancers look so amazing, and then Tess and Claudia wear the oddest things… #Strictly.”

“Fab-u-lous but what is Claudia wearing?? #Strictly,” someone else remarked.

A third added: “Claudia looks like a sack of tatties #Strictly.”

“As a non-dancer starting from day one I’m not going to lie I was a bit scared… but performing those fantastic dances has been amazing. I’ll never ever ever forget that dance. Thank you. The best partner. Thank you.”

However, many viewers were surprised to see the CBBC star in the bottom two considering he topped the leaderboard last night with 38 points.

Alex Scott on the other hand was joint bottom with Saffron and she escaped the dance off.

Because of this, fans were furious and branded the show a ‘fix’.

Avengers 4 Endgame opening prediction is INSANE: One BILLION? Guess the biggest reason? https://briefnews.eu/avengers-4-endgame-opening-prediction-is-insane-one-billion-guess-the-biggest-reason/ https://briefnews.eu/avengers-4-endgame-opening-prediction-is-insane-one-billion-guess-the-biggest-reason/#respond Sat, 30 Mar 2019 04:15:15 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/avengers-4-endgame-opening-prediction-is-insane-one-billion-guess-the-biggest-reason/

Back when Star Wars The Force Awakens smashed its way to $ 2.068 billion worldwide, it looked set to be the king of the modern cinema era. Infinity War squeaked up very close last year with a $ 2.048 billion haul, and now Endgame looks set to blast past that and Star Wars 9 looks unlikely to match it. Avengers 4 is also on track for the biggest opening weekend of all time. All these facts and the eclipse of Star Wars all have one massive factor in common.

China. The country, not the tableware, obviously.

A new Avengers Endgame analysis is predicting the movie will take around $ 820million on its opening weekend, compared to Infinity War’s $ 630 million.

The fact that Avengers 4 is the climax to over ten years and 21 movies so far in the Marvel Cinematic Universe should guarantee a strong opening. As should the fact that Infinity War ended on one of the biggest movie cliffhangers of all time.

But it is the emerging importance of China, reinforced by Aquaman’s spectacularly effective strategy there, which changes everything.

Traditionally, Hollywood blockbusters have opened in China long after the rest of the world. Aquaman flipped the game, opening there first. This clever gamble paid off and gave the movie a massive opening which ignited a slightly hesitant box office still bruised from the previous uneven DC offerings.

Marvel and the Avengers movies are already secure in their appeal and anticipation and guaranteed an enormous opening anyway. However, Avengers 3 took $ 190 million when it opened in China, weeks after the rest of the world.

Add that to the main opening weekend’s $ 630million and even if Endgame performs only as well as Infinity War it will take a combined $ 820 million. However, it is very likely it will actually surpass the previous movie. Could it pass $ 1 billion?

AVENGERS ENDGAME TICKETS “ON SALE ON TUESDAY”

A billion dollar opening weekend is not impossible, but there have been no industry tracking figures released yet. When tickets start going on sale next week, the official predictions will begin.

The huge importance of China is also the main contributing factor why Star Wars 9 is unlikely to match Endgame.

The Star Wars franchise has yet to find any real traction in China, while Marvel, DC, Pixar and franchises like Fast and Furious do increasingly well.

The Force Awakens only took £124million total in China and The Last Jedi plummetted to $ 42million. With a Star Wars franchise still beset with fan divisions and a Marvel powerhouse still going from strength to strength, it looks like the Avengers will End the Game in triumph, once and for all.

The Greatest Dancer: 'Did Cheryl mess that up?' Viewers SLAM live show opening https://briefnews.eu/the-greatest-dancer-did-cheryl-mess-that-up-viewers-slam-live-show-opening/ https://briefnews.eu/the-greatest-dancer-did-cheryl-mess-that-up-viewers-slam-live-show-opening/#respond Sat, 02 Feb 2019 20:25:01 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/the-greatest-dancer-did-cheryl-mess-that-up-viewers-slam-live-show-opening/

The three dance captains took to the stage with their acts to open the first live show in spectacular fashion.

They could be seen separated on stage before they came together at the front to perform a number of dance moves.

Their acts then all joined them to dance individually with their mentor.

However as Cheryl, Oti and Matthew began to perform, viewers were quick to comment on their routine with some claiming the Fight For This Love singer “messed up”.

Taking to Twitter, one viewer shared: “Shocking timing issues #thegreatestdancer.”

Another asked: “Did Cheryl mess that up?? #thegreatestdancer.”

“@CherylOfficial is the judge / captain of a dance competition and she forget the opening dance… #thegreatestdancer,” a third wrote.

A fourth continued: “Did cheryl just go wrong at the start of #thegreatestdancer.”

While many focussed on Cheryl’s performance there were plenty of fans who praised the BBC series’ opening.

“Wow! What a start #thegreatestdancer,” one viewer tweeted.

Another added: “Loved the intro to tonight’s #TheGreatestDancer! Awesome to see the judges up dancing too!”

A third shared: “Well that’s the best intro into a show I’ve ever seen! #thegreatestdancer.”

Tonight’s performance will see the final nine acts take on their first challenge live in front of a studio audience.

Cheryl’s acts for this evening are FroBacks, Dane Bates Collective and Harry and Eleiyah.

Matthew is mentoring James and Oliver, Company Jinks and Prospect Fraternity.

Meanwhile Oti has been coaching Ellie, Globe Girls and KLA.

Ahead of the episode, Cheryl said she was confident her acts could make it to the final.

She said: “My acts are so versatile. They are going to do things the other dance captains don’t even know they

can do yet!

“My job is to take the challenges that are thrown at us and convert that into what represents each act best, encouraging and pushing the best out of them to surprise the people at home.”

The Greatest Dancer airs Saturday on BBC One at 7.30pm.

Whither ’Spoons?

FOR A COUNTRY whose chief cultural export is its pubs—there are some 7,000 Irish pubs worldwide, and 8,403 on the island itself—Ireland makes it surprisingly difficult to open a drinking establishment. In both Northern Ireland (part of the United Kingdom, but with many of its own laws) and the Republic, the process is slow, pricey and fraught with uncertainty.

Both use a system familiar to anybody who has ever queued to get into a nightclub: one in, one out. Aspiring landlords must buy licences from those willing to “surrender” theirs. Moreover, buyers must prove local “need” by pointing to a growing population or the closure of nearby pubs. Objections, from existing publicans, say, can cause months of delays. Transfers of licences are approved by courts and dates for disputed cases are hard to come by, says Maura McKay, a lawyer in Belfast.

British Airways DISASTER: How terminal opening was branded 'national embarrassment' https://briefnews.eu/british-airways-disaster-how-terminal-opening-was-branded-national-embarrassment/ https://briefnews.eu/british-airways-disaster-how-terminal-opening-was-branded-national-embarrassment/#respond Thu, 29 Nov 2018 15:02:20 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/british-airways-disaster-how-terminal-opening-was-branded-national-embarrassment/

British Airways is a trusted airline, famous for having the largest fleet in the UK and boasting exceptional customer service. However, ten years ago the brand was left embarrassed when the opening of Terminal 5 at Heathrow Airport went terribly wrong. In BBC’s 2014 documentary “A Very British Airline”, they explain how the baggage system at Terminal 5 was “chaos” on the day in 2008.

They reveal how “thousands of bags were separated by their owners”, and the day was branded a “national disaster”.

At the time, the only airline to fly from the terminal was British Airways so the “embarrassment” was shared between Heathrow administrators and BA.

The opening was of the showcase terminal, which is said to have cost £4.3billion.

At the time, it was reported that British Airways were forced to cancel 34 short-haul and domestic flights.

They admitted that while rehearsals for the opening had been completed, on the day they had a problem with “staff familiarisation with the terminal”.

A baggage handler told the BBC in 2008 that it was “a shambles the moment the doors opened”.

They went on to blame British Airways for the “lack of training and the essential support that was promised”.

Today, the baggage system at Terminal 5 runs much smoother, and with 11 miles of conveyer belts, it is one of the largest in the world.

BA advertise the Terminal today as offering a “seamless airport experience” complete with “stylish shops, restaurants and luxurious lounges”.
