EastEnders and could be about to see the return of Bobby Beale (Eliot Carrington).

The youngster was imprisoned for killing his sister, Lucy Beale (Hetti Bywater), before going on to attack Jane Beale (Laurie Brett).

So far, Bobby has served three years for his crimes, but will he get an early release?

Boss, Kate Oates, has suggested there will be a plethora of familiar faces returning soon to Albert Square.

Way back in October of last year, she told the Daily Star she would definitely bring back three old characters.

She said at the time: “I’ve only been there a few weeks, but we’re already making our plans.

“We’re going to be bringing people back. So that’s exciting.”

Kate continued: “I haven’t made the calls yet, but there will definitely be two, possibly three old faces returning.

“You’ll probably see them in first quarter of the new year.”

Since then, Ben Mitchell (Max Bowden) has been confirmed to return, alongside Mary the Punk (Linda Davidson) and Lofty (Tom Watt).

But could Bobby also return? There would certainly be appetite for it, according to Metro.

Ian Beale is currently involved with Jean Slater (Gillian Wright) romantically.

However, it has recently been suggested there is heartbreak on the horizon.

If so, perhaps the perfect pick-me-up would be Bobby’s safe return from prison.

Meanwhile on EastEnders, Keanu Taylor’s (Danny Walters) fate could be sealed according to Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden).

Keanu is currently dating Sharon Mitchell (Letitia Dean) behind Phil’s back.

However, the youngster is also seeing Sharon’s daughter, Louise Mitchell (Tilly Keeper) and if he continues to break her heart, Phil could get involved.

When wondering if Keanu was seeing someone else, Louise threatened: “You wait until my dad finds out.”

Will Keanu survive the drama?

EastEnders continues Monday on BBC at 8pm.

Let’s block ads! (Why?)

will now become even “darker” with a terrifying storyline that scares new boss Kate Oates.

Kate was behind murderer Pat Phelan’s (played by Connor McIntyre) downfall on Coronation Street.

The soap boss said: “We’ve got some good Mitchell stuff on the storyboard, the Phil, Keanu, Sharon stuff is all very exciting, we’ve got some good stuff for Tiffany with her having taken herself into a dark world.

“I’m picking up on stories that have already begun here.

“I love the Carters. I always want to see them tested but that doesn’t mean not seeing them in the Vic. I like them in the Vic and I think Danny and Kellie are a brilliant soap pairing.

“They’ve got an amazing range because as well as the drama they’re capable of such warmth and I think that’s when the audience loves them at their best, when they’re actually showing that full range.”

Kate continued to The Sun: ”So no, I don’t have any kind of plans to shake that up. I’m a big fan of the Carters so no, no plans to get rid of them.

“Mel’s in a bit of a pickle which will pick up in the New Year. We’re going to be flexing Tamzin Outhwaite’s muscles a little bit so that’s exciting.

“The Slaters are a really vibrant precinct and they’re just as lively as ever so yeah. We’ve got some good stuff in the works.”

It comes after Hayley Slater (played by Katie Jarvis) revealed she would be making a soap exit during tonight’s episode.

Viewers know Hayley’s baby will be the child of Alfie Moon (Shane Richie), Kat Slater’s (Jessie Wallace) husband.

However, nobody in Hayley’s immediate family seems to know, other than Jean Slater (Gillian Wright).

Jean suspicion’s over Alfie being the father were confirmed when she asked Hayley: “Is that Alfie’s baby?”

Hayley will try to make a break from Albert Square to leave for a mother and baby hostel.

In a shock turn of events for Hayley, she will be disappointed to discover she must give birth before she can stay.

Tonight’s episode hinted that Hayley would also be giving up the newborn for adoption.

Sitting alone in a car, Hayley rubbed her bump and watched her family walking around Walford.

Hayley said: “They ain’t so bad. We won’t be living with them though.

“Not once you’re here. Not with this hanging over us. We can’t.”

Dropping a huge bombshell, Hayley added: “And you won’t be living with me either.”

EastEnders spoilers: New boss Kate Oates responds to rumours she's dropping the Carters https://briefnews.eu/eastenders-spoilers-new-boss-kate-oates-responds-to-rumours-shes-dropping-the-carters/ https://briefnews.eu/eastenders-spoilers-new-boss-kate-oates-responds-to-rumours-shes-dropping-the-carters/#respond Fri, 26 Oct 2018 03:57:28 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/eastenders-spoilers-new-boss-kate-oates-responds-to-rumours-shes-dropping-the-carters/

Kate Oates let slip her massive plans for EastEnders as she takes on the role of producer following her two-year stint on Coronation Street.

The award-winning executive producer intends to tackle societal “issues”, which will predominately be character led.

Teasing the upcoming plot, Kate revealed: “There is something that I’m thinking about that the audience could say is an issues led storyline.

“I think it will be character led and the long-term arc will be character led, but there’s definitely an issue in there to discuss.”

When she worked on Coronation Street, Kate highlighted a number of hard-hitting issues, including suicide and male rape.

Although Kate hopes to create awareness surrounding important issues in EastEnders, she also wants to maximise some of its current talent, including the Carters.

Responding the claims she intends to axe the much loved family, the writer enthused: “I love the Carters.

“I always want to see them tested, but that doesn’t mean not seeing them in the Vic. I like them in the Vic and I think Danny [Dyer] and Kellie [Bright] are a brilliant soap pairing.”

She added to The Sun: “They’ve got an amazing range because as well as the drama they’re capable of such warmth and I think that’s when the audience loves them at their best, when they’re actually showing that full range.

“So no, I don’t have any kind of plans to shake that up. I’m a big fan of the Carters so no plans to get rid of them.”

Hinting she has been bonding with lead actor Danny, Katie mentioned: “Danny’s teaching me to speak cockney.”

Fans of Kate’s will have to wait until February 2019 to see her work on screen, but she did tease the Christmas special.

The British producer promised that Christmas would be “big” in Albert Square, although she remained tight-lipped about the storyline.

But she seems to have something special in store for the Sharon, Phil Mitchell and Keanu Taylor’s love triangle.

Discussing her ideas for the Mitchell clan, she shared: “We’ve got some good Mitchell stuff on the storyboard, the Phil, Keanu, Sharon stuff is all very exciting.

“We’ve got some good stuff for Tiffany [Butcher] with her having taken herself into a dark world. I’m picking up on stories that have already begun here.”

She also aims to focus on Mel Owen (Tamzin Outwaite) and the Slaters in the New Year and described the plots as “exciting”.

Kate announced she was joining EastEnders earlier this year after quitting Coronation Street, which she had worked on for six years.

The 39-year-old previously produced rival show Emmerdale and received a number of accolades for her work.

EastEnders continues tonight on BBC One at 8pm.

EastEnders spoilers: Boss Kate Oates speaks out on axing characters – 'The show feels odd' https://briefnews.eu/eastenders-spoilers-boss-kate-oates-speaks-out-on-axing-characters-the-show-feels-odd/ https://briefnews.eu/eastenders-spoilers-boss-kate-oates-speaks-out-on-axing-characters-the-show-feels-odd/#respond Thu, 13 Sep 2018 05:09:56 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/eastenders-spoilers-boss-kate-oates-speaks-out-on-axing-characters-the-show-feels-odd/

Kate Oates, who has worked on Emmerdale and Coronation Street, said she has big plans and high expectations for EastEnders.

The acclaimed producer will be heading to the BBC next month and has already set her sights on a number of characters for huge storylines.

She has also made her feelings clear about axing actors from the series, whilst hinting at inevitable change.

Talking about her new job, Kate said: “I’ve obviously been thinking constantly about the show since I agreed to take the job.

“I don’t actually like to start making huge plans until I’ve engaged with the team: it’s important that it’s a collaborative process and it’s really important to use the talent and ideas that are already there.”

Speaking about taking on the role as the producer of such a popular soap with Metro, Kate admitted it would be “a challenge”.

She said: “I know a lot of people have their eye on where we take EastEnders, because it’s such a huge show, so of course I want it to be the very best it can be.

“It will be a challenge, but it’s very exciting, and I really am over the moon to be part of it.”

Kate has in fact already selected characters she hopes to create “interesting and exciting plot lines” for when she takes over.

Without giving too much away, Kate said: “Well there are definitely characters I would have my eye on and who I can very much envision being at the centre of some exciting storylines and episodes.

“EastEnders has a very strong cast and of course, I’m a massive fan and have been making sure that I am completely brushed up on all of the history over the last few weeks.”

This will come as a relief for the cast and fans of EastEnders as Kate made it crystal clear she has no intentions of going on a massive sacking spree.

“It’s always been the case that cast members come and go from serial dramas but I’m not a big fan of axing sprees, because I think you have to have faith in the talent you inherit and need to work out the best way to use it,” Kate added.

“I’ve watched shows before when there’s been a mass-clear out, and sometimes you run the risk of changing the landscape so much, the show feels really odd and different for quite a while.”

Kate went on to say dropping actors and actresses can destroy morale and hopes she can get the best out of the current stars.

“It’s also not great for morale, which is important to me,” she continued. “I’d rather do my best with the existing cast that I’ll be working alongside.”

She concluded: “I hope that enables them to do their best with stories that feel true to their characters.”

Kate, who worked on Coronation Street for two years, confirmed she was leaving the soap on April 24, saying she was “excited” to move forward.

Iain MacLeod, who previously produced Emmerdale, replaced Kate in June and said: “Only Corrie could have tempted me away.”

EastEnders continues tonight on BBC One at 7.30pm.

Coronation Street spoilers: Kate Oates reveals legal secret behind David Platt rape plot https://briefnews.eu/coronation-street-spoilers-kate-oates-reveals-legal-secret-behind-david-platt-rape-plot/ https://briefnews.eu/coronation-street-spoilers-kate-oates-reveals-legal-secret-behind-david-platt-rape-plot/#respond Fri, 11 May 2018 23:08:54 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/coronation-street-spoilers-kate-oates-reveals-legal-secret-behind-david-platt-rape-plot/

boss Kate has revealed that she’s been getting advice from Judge Rinder – as David’s (played by Jack P Shepherd) male rape storyline unfolds.

The daytime reality TV star had been advising the Corrie producer on legal aspects of David’s case.

Soap fans have been left shocked by the storyline where David was horrifically raped by newcomer Josh Tucker (Ryan Clayton).

Especially as viewers were spared of any explicit scenes, and instead saw David waking up in Josh’ bed and realising what had happened to him.

The incident occurred after David went on a drunken night out with the personal trainer and mechanic.

Kate recently confirmed that Josh will not be going to prison in a shock twist that will be sure to horrify and anger viewers.

But the legal advice she has sought from friend and judge Robert Rinder backed up her reasoning behind letting Josh walk free.

“Robert Rinder…spoke to me about how David would be cross-examined on the stand,” she told Radio Times.

“It could be hard, brutal and intimate.

“He made me think about how things would be spun in a courtroom.”

She also added that TV guidelines would also make it difficult to portray a realistic trial.

“There are a lot of things that we wouldn’t have been able to show on screen at that time of evening,” Kate explained.

“If I were going to show that story in court, I’d have been fascinated to have played the truth of it.”

But the decision for Josh to not be trialled for David’s rape, partly comes as a result of David’s own actions.

It has been a long time since the attack and viewers have only just seen David speak out about the attack to Shona Ramsey (Julia Goulding).

This could seriously impact whether a prosecution would even be possible.

To add to that, David also disposed of all his clothing that he was wearing at the time he was raped by Josh.

But viewers needn’t worry – although David won’t be getting justice legally, he will have loyal support from Shona.

And she is determined to prove Josh guilty.

In tonight’s episode she has confronted Josh and called him a rapist in the street.

Coronation Street spoilers: Pat Phelan exit revealed as Kate Oates teases ‘BIBLICAL' end https://briefnews.eu/coronation-street-spoilers-pat-phelan-exit-revealed-as-kate-oates-teases-biblical-end/ https://briefnews.eu/coronation-street-spoilers-pat-phelan-exit-revealed-as-kate-oates-teases-biblical-end/#respond Sat, 05 May 2018 19:15:18 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/coronation-street-spoilers-pat-phelan-exit-revealed-as-kate-oates-teases-biblical-end/

Pat (played by Connor McIntyre) has previously been the cat with nine lives.

However, his time on Coronation Street is coming to an end as he will finally received his promised “comeuppance”.

Pat was last seen on the ITV soap in a mysterious cottage near Whitehaven.

He was pushed into the North West sea by wife Eileen Grimshaw (Sue Cleaver) who thought he was dead.

However, he is alive and well and will be returning to Coronation Street to exact revenge on those who have done him wrong.

Although the details on his return to Weatherfield have been scarce, Kate Oates has teased what’s to come.

Pat’s exit will run alongside Michelle Connor (Kym Marsh) and Robert Preston’s (Tristan Gemmill) wedding in seriously explosive scenes.

Kate told The Metro: “I can say that Phelan was biblical on those sea walls – he imposes his own biblical imagery and there is definitely that in his exit.

“We have collided stories like we did last May with Who Pushed Ken, Bethany’s Story and Nick’s Exit.

“We’re doing that again – they’re the richest stories for me.

“It’s difficult in these set weeks when there’s one event and everything else feels like you are just waiting for the moment – Connor gives it his all as always.

“It’s such a good week, I’m proud of it.”

It was recently reported Michelle will find herself in his firing-line after he drags himself to her big day.

However, whether she is his final victim remains to be seen.

Viewers are convinced Pat will be caught before he can continue his reign of terror.

But with Eileen still on the scene, surely he will want to get his revenge while he can.

Michelle actress Kim recently opened up about the upcoming scenes, writing in her OK! column: “My lips are sealed over whether Michelle Connor will end up dead on her wedding day.

“There were rumours circulating last week that my character gets shot during her nuptials.

“I can tell you that I have been filming some dramatic scenes lately. It’s been really full on Corrie,” she teased.

Coronation Street continues Monday on ITV at 7.30pm and 8.30pm.
