No, your eyes do not deceive you. Dell unveiled the newest version of its XPS 13 laptop at CES today, and it fixes arguably the most frustrating problem with the Ultrabook: that pesky up-nose webcam. Dell removed it and instead put its smallest camera yet on top of the device’s display, in addition to other new improvements that update the laptop for 2019.

The new webcam measures just 2.25mm, allowing Dell to embed it in the Infinity Edge bezel on top of the touchscreen. For years, the lower-bezel placement of the webcam marred the XPS 13. While some may not use the webcam on their laptop often, others need it for conferencing and video chats. The old webcam placement made doing those things difficult, as users were always shown at an unflattering angle.

Video game streaming service Twitch launched Communities in February of last year. These were ostensibly hub page for specific games or topics that members could create to help people find content. Now the company will shut these pages down mid-September in favor of a new tagging system. Twitch will also add 10 new categories for streamers to help describe their content for better discovery.

Twitch says that it removed Communities for a couple of reasons. For example, fewer than 3 percent of Twitch viewers came through Communities. Also, the company admits that they could be confusing and hard to access when browsing directories. The new system will allow streamers to categorize their pages from a pre-defined set of tags. Some will be auto-generated by Twitch, as well, like genre and specific in-game features.

While tags and new categories won’t do exactly the same thing as Communities did, they will help you find specific games and topics that you might want to see more of. The new categories will include more non-gaming topics, too, like Art, Hobbies & Crafts, Food & Drink, Music & Performing Arts, Beauty & Body Art, Science & Technology, Just Chatting, Travel & Outdoors, Sports & Fitness, Tabletop RPGs, Special Events, Talk Shows & Podcasts, and a special ASMR category for those in need to quiet, repetitive sounds to relax.

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) — A federal judge has struck down Alabama’s one-of-a-kind law that enabled judges to put minors seeking abortions through a trial-like proceeding in which the fetus could get a lawyer and prosecutors could object to the pregnant girl’s wishes.

Alabama legislators in 2014 changed the state’s process for girls who can’t or won’t get their parents’ permission for an abortion to obtain permission from a court instead. The new law empowered the judge to appoint a guardian ad litem “for the interests of the unborn child” and invited the local district attorney to call witnesses and question the girl to determine whether she’s mature enough to decide.

U.S. Magistrate Judge Susan Russ Walker sided Friday with the American Civil Liberties Union of Alabama , writing that the law unconstitutionally and impermissibly imposes “an undue burden on a minor in Alabama who seeks an abortion through a judicial bypass,” and violates the girl’s privacy rights by enabling a prosecutor to call witnesses against her will.

Both the judge and the ACLU said they were aware of no other state with such a law.

Every state requiring parental consent for abortions involving minors must also have a “judicial bypass” procedure so that girls can get a judge’s approval in a way that is effective, confidential, and expeditious, the ACLU said.

The state had argued that the law was intended to allow a “meaningful” inquiry into the minor’s maturity and the process was still a “confidential, and expeditious option for a teenager who seeks an abortion without parental consent.”

The civil rights organization said it had the opposite effect, by enabling lawyers for the state or the fetus to subpoena the minor’s teacher, neighbor, relative or boyfriend to testify she’s too immature to choose an abortion, or that continuing the pregnancy would be in her best interest.

It is unclear how many such proceedings have happened since the law was enacted. Walker noted that a district attorney this summer opposed the abortion request of a 12-year-old girl who had been impregnated by a relative.

The girl was 13 weeks pregnant and had just completed fifth grade when she went before a family court judge, according to a court record. The judge approved the abortion on June 27, and the district attorney appealed the same day, arguing that the girl was too immature to make an informed decision. The Alabama Court of Civil Appeals on July 12 ruled in favor of the girl.

The ACLU filed the lawsuit in federal court in Montgomery on behalf of Reproductive Health Services, a Montgomery abortion clinic. The Alabama ACLU’s executive director, Randall Marshall, praised the federal judge’s decision, saying the prosecutor in the 12-year-old’s case made her situation worse by delaying her ability to obtain an abortion.

(Reuters) – The Trump administration dropped a lawsuit accusing North Carolina of discriminating against LGBT residents on Friday in response to the state’s decision to undo its “bathroom bill,” according to the Associated Press.

The filing represents the first significant movement in a tangle of legal action challenging the state’s nondiscrimination laws since a deal last month to replace the law, known as House Bill 2, the report said. The law required transgender people to use the bathrooms, changing rooms and showers in state-run buildings that correspond to the sex on their birth certificates rather than their gender identity.

But advocacy groups, which say the new law continues to discriminate against gay and transgender people, have vowed to continue with a separate federal lawsuit, according to the AP.

Measures similar to North Carolina’s House Bill 2 were filed in 16 states this legislative session. Momentum had already slowed for most of the bills and some of them had failed.

Businesses and sports leagues had boycotted North Carolina because they saw the year-old law as discriminatory.

Supergirl won’t just be flying over to the Arrow-verse during The CW’s next mega DCTV crossover.

Executive producer Andrew Kreisberg reveals that there are plans in place for the ex-CBS series to play an integral role in next season’s superhero event.

“We’re hoping to do a true four-way crossover,” Kreisberg told reporters during a recent Supergirl screening. “The great thing about our dear friends at The CW and [network president] Mark Pedowitz picking the shows up as early as they did [is that] it has allowed us to start building the schedules for next season. One of the big things we learned from two years ago, which made the crossovers slightly easier this year, was built-in shutdown days, where shows just went dark, because the single hardest factor in doing the crossovers is actors’ availability” while the four series simultaneously continue production.

During this season’s “Aliens v Heroes” battle, the Girl of Steel’s network move caused additional, unforeseen scheduling challenges.

“Because we weren’t aware that we were going to switch Supergirl from CBS to CW, and it was really going to be part of [the crossover],” it was the lone superhero drama that didn’t have any built-in shutdown days, Kreisberg explains. And with leading lady Melissa Benoist spending plenty of time on The Flash and Arrow, “Supergirl was the show we needed to shut down the most… So now that we’ve gotten the early pickup, and we’ve started designing the seasons, we’re building in those dark days – and actually more dark days on Supergirl than the other shows – to make it a little easier.”

In the meantime, the end of Supergirl‘s March 20 episode will kick off a two-part musical crossover, continuing Tuesday, March 21, on The Flash. As for future mini cross-show visits, Kreisberg is ruling out one idea: cameos from Earth-1’s Kara on Arrow or The Flash, Earth-38’s Oliver Queen on Supergirl and so on.

The producers have discussed seeing the doppelgängers, but “the problem with that is if we do that once, we’re going to open the floodgates of insanity,” Kreisberg says, adding that there would have to be “a really good story” for such an appearance.
