Nikki McKibbin, the second runner-up from American Idol‘s first season, has died, according to a Facebook post by her husband, Craig Sadler. The singer was 42. “The love of my life Nikki Sadler suffered an aneurysm on Wednesday,” wrote Sadler. “She was so loved that I know thousands of you will be grieving with us.” (Read his full post here.) McKibbin placed third on her Idol season, behind winner Kelly Clarkson and runner-up Justin Guarini. She famously sang Whitney Houston’s “One Moment in Time” for her audition, which immediately advanced her to the next round of the competition. Guarini eulogized McKibbin on Instagram, writing: “@realnikkimckibbin was a fiery, funny lady who could sing the Hell out of a rock song with the same kind of ease and command she lovingly used to cut you with her twangy Southern wit… Rest well, ‘Gypsy’…and thank you for the laughter, merciless teasing, strength, vulnerability, love and friendship you showed me during our time together in the spotlight. #rip #americanidol” Idol also released the following statement via Twitter: “Nikki McKibbin was an incredible talent and we are deeply saddened by the news of her passing. She was part of our American Idol family and will be truly missed. Our hearts and prayers go out to her family and friends during this difficult time.” Prior to her time spent with Idol judges Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul and Randy Jackson, McKibbin appeared on the first season of another singing competition, Popstars, which aired on the WB in 2001. There, she competed with hopes of joining the girl group Eden’s Crush, but ultimately was not chosen as part of the group’s final lineup. McKibbin released her debut album, Unleashed, on May 22, 2007 and toured throughout the year with Texas metal band Rivethead. In 2012, she released the EP Psychotrip with the band Love Stricken Demise. The singer returned to television in 2008 as part of the second season of VH1’s Celebrity Rehab With Dr. Drew. Fellow cast members included Guns N’ Roses drummer Steven Adler, actors Jeff Conaway and Gary Busey and civil rights figure Rodney King. When the season wrapped, she appeared on its spinoff series, Sober House. McKibbin briefly re-appeared on Season 13 of Idol, when she accompanied her son Tristan to his audition; he made it through to the Hollywood round, but was cut prior to the live shows. Last week, the Democrats spoke out in support of former Vice President Joe Biden and his running mate, Sen. Kamala Harris. This week, the political circus continues as conservatives plead their case for incumbent President Donald Trump and VP Mike Pence at the 2020 Republican National Convention. Eighteen of Trump’s most vocal crusaders are scheduled to address the nation on Monday night, including his eldest son, Donald Trump Jr., and Jr.’s girlfriend, former Fox News personality Kimberly Guilfoyle. We’ll also hear from Republican National Committee chairwoman Ronna McDaniel and former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley, who is widely expected to run for the White House in 2024. As previously reported, President Trump will appear nightly to “present his optimistic vision for the next four years,” according to the RNC. “The celebration will culminate in the historic renomination of the president and vice president in Washington, D.C.” A few additional RNC speakers are sure to turn heads. Among them are Mark and Patricia McCloskey, the husband and wife who were charged with felonies after they pointed guns at peaceful Black protesters in St. Louis. The full list is below: * Rep. Haley was quick to qualify her request that Prince Mohammed bin Salman “lose the thuggish nature in which he has been acting” with praise for the Saudi leader, whom the CIA and most other countries’ governments hold responsible for the gruesome murder of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi at the country’s Istanbul consulate. He’s “careless at times,” but he has “a lot of good ideas,” she stressed.
MBS merely “owes us some accountability for what happened to Khashoggi. Without question,” Haley told the Washington Examiner, seemingly offering the Saudi prince a roadmap back to America’s good graces… which is understandable – who if not Haley to feel empathy for a fellow “thug“?
After all, during her brief but colorful career at the UN, thuggish behavior has been Haley’s bread and butter.
Displaying enviable psychic powers, she threatened the Syrian government with retaliation for a chemical attack on Idlib that never took place:
“If there are chemical weapons that are used, we know exactly who’s going to use them.”
And she was not content to limit her threats to Syria:
“We told the Syrians, the Russians, and the Iranians, look twice. We have warned you not to use chemical weapons, twice you have used it and twice President Trump has acted. Don’t test us again.”
“If Assad, Russia, and Iran continue down the path they are on, the consequences will be dire.”
Haley never misses an opportunity to threaten Russia:
“When a country can come interfere in another country’s elections, that is warfare. … This is [Russia’s] weapon of choice and we have to make sure we get in front of it.”
Russia gets under her skin so much she’d rather sabotage her boss’ meeting with its president than miss a chance to throw shade:
“We don’t trust Russia. We don’t trust Putin. We never will. They’re never going to be our friend. That’s just a fact.”
Other victims of her bullying include North Korea, which had the nerve to test a missile:
“If war comes, make no mistake, the North Korean regime will be utterly destroyed.”
“The United States is not looking for a fight, so don’t give us a reason to have one.”
…and Venezuela, which had the nerve to test socialism:
“We are going to fight for Venezuela and we are going to continue doing it until Maduro is gone!“
…and the media, which had the nerve to ask her whether she pulled strings to get her daughter a government job:
“The media is not allowed to talk to me about my children.”
Not content to warmonger for the US alone, she tried to bully the entire world into war against Iran:
“The weapons might as well have had ‘Made in Iran’ stickers all over them. The United States stands ready to share what we know to further the cause of peace. We ask our friends and our allies to do the same…We must speak with one voice in exposing the regime for what it is, a threat to the peace and security of the entire world. We call on all nations to join us, in a united front, resisting this global threat.“
Haley’s thuggishness shone so bright as she trashed the UN for opposing the move of the US embassy to Jerusalem, the Israeli army thanked her for her service.
Indeed, the only thing Haley likes more than bullying the UN on behalf of the US is bullying the UN on behalf of Israel:
“We had the back of Israel, and if they were going to mess with Israel they had to mess with the US.”
…and she was on the front lines when the US left the UN Human Rights Council, ready with one more shot:
“For too long the human rights council has been a protector of human rights abusers and a cesspool of political bias.”
Haley and MBS are ultimately kindred spirits politically as well as temperamentally. The Saudi prince, after all, is the one who said Palestinians should just “shut up” and “stop complaining” earlier this year – an idea Haley echoed in her final speech to the UN.
]]>
At her last UN Security Council meeting on Tuesday, the outgoing US envoy heaped praise on the Trump Administration’s peace plan which aims to make a breakthrough in the stalled peace process in the region.
Both sides would benefit greatly from a peace agreement, but the Palestinians would benefit more, and the Israelis would risk more.
“I assure you there is a lot for both sides to like,” Haley said, noting that it’s up to Israel and Palestine to tease out the details.
The plan, according to Haley, is “not just a few pages, containing unspecific and unimaginative guidelines,” but a comprehensive roadmap, with “much more thoughtful detail” and “taking advantage of the new world of technology.”

Palestine takes US to International Court of Justice over Jerusalem embassy move
Haley, who has styled herself as one of the most vocal advocates of Israel in the Trump administration, highlighted the “unshakable bond” between the US and Israel, a position that was cemented during her tenure when the US outraged Muslims in Palestine and beyond by recognizing Jerusalem as Israel’s capital, slashed aid to Palestine by some $ 500 million and quit the UN Human Rights Council over its “bias” against Israel.
While Haley once called the UN General Assembly “morally bankrupt” for approving a resolution that condemned Israel’s use of “excessive, disproportionate and indiscriminate force” against Palestinian civilians in Gaza, as she bid farewell to the UNSC, she nonetheless argued that she has never harbored prejudice against Palestine.
“Given my record, some might mistakenly conclude that I am unsympathetic to the Palestinian people. Nothing could be further from the truth,” she said. Switching gears from reconciliatory to condescending, Haley then stated that “Israel wants a peace agreement but it does not need one,” adding that Palestinians must give up on their “50-year-old demands that have only become less and less realistic.”
Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas insists that Ramallah will not accept any peace plan that is not based on the 2002 Arab Peace Initiative, which clearly states that the future Palestinian state will be established in the territories occupied by Israel since 1967, with East Jerusalem as the capital.
Abbas has repeatedly decried the US-sponsored “deal of the century,” saying in October that Palestine and Jerusalem are “not for sale or bargaining.”
It’s unclear yet what exactly is in the proposal that has been drafted by US President Donald Trump’s special adviser Jared Kushner and his Middle Eastern envoy Jason Greenblatt, which is expected to be unveiled in early January.
However, neither the Palestinian nor the Israeli side have been enthusiastic about the proposal that could have become the crowning achievement of Haley’s brief ambassadorial career.
Speaking at a conference in November, the Israeli Minister of Justice called the long-awaited plan “a waste of time.”
The Palestinian administration, which has fiercely opposed the plan from the beginning, recently lashed out at it, calling it a “lie” and the “slap of the century.” Mahmoud Al-Habbash, a senior adviser to the PA president, hinted last month that Abbas had been offered a huge paycheck to abandon Jerusalem – something he has vehemently refused to do.
“President Abbas told them: All the billions of dollars in the world will not make me give up one inch of the soil of Jerusalem,” Al-Habbash said. He noted that the plan has yet to win support from the Arab world, despite Washington’s assurances that they are on board.

Ex-Trump adviser Steve Bannon has offered up a stinging back-handed compliment to Nikki Haley, describing the former UN envoy as “ambitious as Lucifer.” He said her resignation announcement before the midterms is “suspect.”
Bannon said in an interview with Bloomberg News that the timing of Haley’s decision was “horrific” and “suspect,” noting that it undermines the administration’s efforts to rally support ahead of November’s midterm elections.
“Everything she said about stepping down could have been done on the evening of November 6. The timing could not have been worse,” he added.
Although Bannon credited Haley as “very talented,” he also said that she was “incredibly politically ambitious – ambitious as Lucifer.”
However, some on social media questioned whether Bannon meant his comment as a compliment or an insult.
“Can you clear something up for me? If Steve Bannon says she is ‘ambitious as Lucifer,’ is that a dig or is he showing admiration?” one Twitter user pondered.
Can you clear something up for me? If Steve Bannon says she is "ambitious as Lucifer," is that a dig or is he showing admiration?
— Billy Jingo (@BillyJingo) October 10, 2018
Another joked: “Steve Bannon knows Lucifer personally,” in an apparent dig at the former White House strategist’s controversial ties to the “alt-right.”
Haley announced her resignation as US ambassador to the UN on Tuesday, igniting speculation that she may be preparing for a presidential run. Another popular theory is that she was forced to resign after being unmasked as the anonymous author of an op-ed published by the New York Times last month, which made a number of incendiary but unsubstantiated claims, including that there was a shadow government of “adults” preventing Trump from leading the US astray.

Haley, however, says that she is not running for office and will campaign for Trump. The president on Wednesday defended the timing of Haley’s announcement, arguing that there’s “no good time” to resign and that if she had waited until after the midterms it would have sparked similar suspicions Haley’s political ambitions.
Her resignation announcement caught much of the Trump administration off guard, according to reports, including White House Chief of Staff John Kelly and Vice President Mike Pence.

Nikki Haley, the US ambassador to the United Nations, announced on Oct. 9th she intended to resign from her position at the end of 2018 in an Oval Office press conference with President Donald Trump.
The administration has been rocked by high-profile departures — including Reince Priebus as chief of staff and James Comey as FBI director — since Trump took office in January 2017.
Here are all the top-level people who’ve either been fired or resigned from the administration, and why they left:

Nikki Haley, the US Ambassador to the United Nations and former Governor of South Carolina, announced her resignation on Oct. 9th.
After Axios first reported the news, President Donald Trump announced to reporters in the Oval Office that Haley would resign at the end of 2018.
While the reason for her resignation was unclear, Trump said she previously told him she wanted to “take a break” after serving in the post for two years.
Haley was considered a moderating, stable force in the Trump cabinet who supported a strong US presence in the UN, sometimes at odds with National Security John Bolton, who takes a more hawkish stance on foreign affairs.
Appearing beside Trump in the Oval Office, Haley touted making progress on issues including trade and nuclear disarmament in Iran and North Korea. Trump praised Haley’s work, saying she could “have her pick” of roles if she wanted to return to the White House.
Haley also put to rest speculation that her resignation meant a presidential run for her in 2020.
“No, I am not running in 2020,” she said.

Trump announced in a tweet on July 5 that he had accepted embattled Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Scott Pruitt’s resignation.
“Within the Agency Scott has done an outstanding job, and I will always be thankful to him for this,” Trump wrote.
At the time of his resignation, Pruitt was the subject of several federal ethics investigations for his lavish spending habits, his suspected conflicts of interests with lobbyists, and for reportedly enlisting his official government staff to carry out his personal errands.
Democratic lawmakers accused Pruitt of using staff to get him a Trump tower mattress, to try to get his wife a position managing a Chick-fil-A franchise, and to find his family a new apartment in a posh DC neighborhood.

Tom Bossert, Trump’s homeland security adviser, was reportedly fired from his position by John Bolton, the new national security adviser.
Bossert’s firing came on the second day of Bolton’s tenure, April 10. He worked closely with former national security adviser Lt. Gen. H.R. McMaster, ousted earlier this month, and is reportedly a close ally of chief of staff John Kelly.
“The president is grateful for Tom’s commitment to the safety and security of our great country,” White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said in a statement confirming Bossert’s departure. “President Trump thanks him for his patriotic service and wishes him well.”

From bullying countries into voting in line with Washington to proclaiming that the US and Russia will never be friends, retiring US ambassador Nikki Haley has said a lot of eyebrow-raising things at the UN. Here are some of them.
US President Donald Trump and Haley seem to be parting on very good terms, with Trump hinting she’ll still have a role to play. Though Haley initially opposed Trump’s candidacy, she came around to eagerly defend her boss. After world leaders laughed during Trump’s UNGA speech praising his own achievements last month, Haley suggested it was actually a sign of respect and appreciation of his honesty.
I deal with these leaders every single day. I know exactly how they think. Do they love America? No. Do they respect America? Now they do. When he said that, they love how honest he is, and it’s not diplomatic, and they find it funny.
Israel seems to be most upset by Haley’s resignation from her UN job, since the envoy for Washington often ended up championing Israeli interests at the world body. Statements like this one perfectly explain Tel Aviv’s grief:
“It was abusive, how bad the international community was to Israel. It reminded me of a kid being bullied in the playground… I just wasn’t going to have it. It was just so upsetting to see, that I just started yelling at everybody…”
We had the back of Israel, and if they were going to mess with Israel they had to mess with the US.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu:
"I would like to thank Ambassador @nikkihaley, who led the uncompromising struggle against hypocrisy at the UN, and on behalf of the truth and justice of our country. Best of luck!" pic.twitter.com/Lr6IvkM5U9— PM of Israel (@IsraeliPM) October 9, 2018
The US envoy was also never shy to pressure the UN member states into voting the way Washington saw fit. The most notable example of such extortion was the vote on recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital last December.
As you consider your vote, I encourage you to know the president and the US take this vote personally. The president will be watching this vote carefully and has requested I report back on those who voted against us.
The threats did not work, however, as the UN General Assembly overwhelmingly rejected Washington’s unilateral recognition of the disputed city as Israeli capital.
When it came to relations with Moscow, the top US diplomat just wasn’t very diplomatic on many occasions, instead choosing to amplify Russophobic rhetoric put forth by Trump’s opposition.
We don’t trust Russia. We don’t trust Putin. We never will. They’re never going to be our friend. That’s just a fact.
“They are aggressive and they can be difficult to work with in the Council… And they do try to cause some disruption, but we manage them and we continue to remind them what their place is.”
Haley was fully on board with accusations that Moscow meddled in the 2016 US election, calling them aggression on Russia’s part. Election meddling, she said, is Russia’s “weapon of choice and we have to make sure we get in front of it.”
When a country can come interfere in another country’s elections, that is warfare.
The ambassador showed no sign of awareness that her comments about interference sounded ironic and hypocritical when placed next to some others she made – regarding places like Venezuela or Syria.
Last month, Haley joined Venezuelan protesters outside the UN headquarters in New York, shouting into the megaphone:
We are going to fight for Venezuela and we are going to continue doing it until [President Nicolas] Maduro is gone!
The US envoy even showed hints of psychic powers, as she tried to downplay Russia’s warnings that Western-backed terrorists were preparing a false flag chemical attack in Syria in order to set up Damascus. Gazing straight into the future, she appeared to point her finger at President Bashar Assad’s government.
If there are chemical weapons that are used, we know exactly who’s going to use them.
In July, the US stunned the international community by withdrawing from the UN Human Rights Council, and the American ambassador had some strong words to back the move.
Judging by how it has fallen short of its promise, the Human Rights Council is the UN’s greatest failure. It has taken the idea of human dignity… and it has reduced it to just another instrument of international politics.
“Its members included some of the worst human rights violators – the dictatorships of Cuba, China and Venezuela all have seats on the Council,” Haley fumed.
When dealing with other states, the US envoy tried her best to uphold an image of an expert on international affairs including on those nation that… well, didn’t even exist.
In a scandalous YouTube recording made by two Russian pranksters, posing as a high-ranked Polish official, Haley was asked to comment on the aspirations of the nation of Binomo in the South China Sea.
We’re aware of that. We’ve been watching that [Binomo situation] very closely. And I think we will continue to watch as we deal with the issues that keep coming up about the South China Sea.
She also said that Russia “absolutely” meddled in the country’s election as well – a truly extraordinary achievement, given that Binomo was entirely made up.

Journalists and pundits have reacted with shock to the unexpected resignation of US Ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley — and speculation abounds as to the reason for the abrupt departure.
US President Donald Trump accepted Haley’s resignation as UN ambassador during an oval office meeting on Tuesday morning, with Haley having reportedly discussed stepping down with Trump last week.
Nikki Haley’s news caught everyone off guard—from Chief of Staff John Kelly to Vice President Pence, I’m told.
— Jennifer Jacobs (@JenniferJJacobs) October 9, 2018
The Nikki Haley news really breaks up the monotony of the news cycle. It’s been awhile since there’s been a surprising headline.
— Sopan Deb (@SopanDeb) October 9, 2018
If you had Nikki Haley unexpectedly resigning on your Bingo sheet, come on down and accept your prize!
— Emily C. Singer (@CahnEmily) October 9, 2018
Immediately after she resigned, Twitter lit up with theories and opinions about the reason, with many suggesting Haley could be the Trump administration official behind a highly critical anonymous op-ed published by the New York Times last month.
So I guess Nikki Haley wrote the letter to the NYT.
— Adam Parkhomenko (@AdamParkhomenko) October 9, 2018
Interesting speculation I’ve heard about Nikki Haley: She wrote the Times op-ed and was fired. Purely speculation, but entertaining palace intrigue
— Evan Siegfried (@evansiegfried) October 9, 2018
U.S. ambassador to the UN, Nikki Haley, one of Trump's sternest defenders on the international stage, has resigned… Anything to do with the anonymous op-ed in the NYT?
— Luke Baker (@BakerLuke) October 9, 2018
Others pundits and Twitter politicos saw the sudden resignation as a sign that the former Governor of South Carolina was planning to run against Trump in the 2020 presidential election.
Nikki Haley? 2020?
A deal? Trump quits and she steps in? Crazy tweets? I'm so lost.— Charles P. Pierce (@CharlesPPierce) October 9, 2018
But the seemingly cordial departure hinted that this may not be the case — and Haley herself soon poured cold water on the idea, saying she would not run in 2020 and would campaign for Trump instead.
That, in turn, prompted speculation that maybe Haley was angling after the vice president job instead.
my hot take is that he'll drop Pence as VP and put in Haley
— Michael Whitney (@michaelwhitney) October 9, 2018
Nikki Haley will run as Trump’s VP in 2020 setting up a scenario that could put a female republican in the WH in 2024
— Andrewok (@Pilarcik) October 9, 2018
I think Nikki Haley has eyes on VP in 2020. She knows Trump is going to struggle with women and she thinks she’ll be able to help him win them over. Then she can run for POTUS later with an even better resume. She’s young.
— Courtney Hulse (@theincrdblhulse) October 9, 2018
Twitter also reacted to a New York Times article on Haley’s resignation which described her as a “moderate” Republican, with many of her critics astounded that the paper would choose to label her that way, given her apparent loyalty to Trump and conservatives.
It is really dangerous for the @nytimes to be calling Haley "moderate."
Not just because it whitewashes her far-right record, but because it helps Trump loyalists redefine "moderate <-> conservative" as a spectrum of loyalty to Trump, rather than actual ideological principles. https://t.co/p4hzNagbzZ
— Matthew Chapman (@fawfulfan) October 9, 2018
Stop calling Nikki Haley a moderate Republican. A moderate would not work for the Trump administration or accept his endorsement.
— Robbie Sherwood (@RobbieSherwood) October 9, 2018
MODERATE? Haley spent every minute of her time at the UN threatening innocent nations w/ war, terror and literally bullying and trying to blackmail (and miserably failing) the entire 🌎 into supporting her agenda dictated by the military industrial complex.
This is the @nytimes. https://t.co/8YsEkyxAZA— Amir (@AmirAminiMD) October 9, 2018
Others, however, were sad to see Haley go.
Too bad Nikki Haley has resigned. She was one of the last members of Trumplandia with even a smidgen of decency.
— Laurence Tribe (@tribelaw) October 9, 2018
Stunned to see Nikki Haley resignation. Easily one of the most capable and successful appointees in the Administration.
— ian bremmer (@ianbremmer) October 9, 2018
There was also plenty of speculation about who would replace Haley in the UN ambassador role, with Kanye West well out ahead of any other potential celebrity competitors.
Haley leaving. Next meeting: Kanye. Draw your own conclusions.
— David Rothkopf (@djrothkopf) October 9, 2018
Some also speculated about whether Trump would hand the role over to his daughter Ivanka, with conservative commentator Ann Coulter tweeting that it would be a good idea.
Trump should replace Nikki Haley with Ivanka.
— Ann Coulter (@AnnCoulter) October 9, 2018
Based on the speculation I've seen on TV, Trump will fire Jeff Sessions, who will be replaced by Lindsey Graham, who will be replaced by Nikki Haley, who will be replaced by Ivanka Trump.
— Keith Boykin (@keithboykin) October 9, 2018
He's going to make Ivanka UN Ambassador. Then he'll run her as VP in 2020. Then she'll be president, life will finally catch up to House of Cards, and then we can cancel Netflix. What I'm saying is, in the long run, Nikki Haley quitting could save us 8 bucks a month.
— Michael Ian Black (@michaelianblack) October 9, 2018
On a more serious note, it was suggested that controversial US ambassador to Germany Richard Grenell or Dina Powell, former deputy national security adviser could be in the running.
One name being floated as a Haley replacement— Dina Powell, who worked with @ivankatrump on women’s economic empowerment issues and later became deputy national security adviser before leaving early this year. Here’s my profile on Powell from January 2017: https://t.co/jcArWj4qnI
— Betsy Klein (@betsy_klein) October 9, 2018
.@RichardGrenell is undoubtedly the best choice to replace Nikki Haley as Ambassador to the United Nations.
He's got the right experience, is loyal to @POTUS & there's no one who would be a stronger advocate for American interests at the UN than Ric.https://t.co/RHx7Rx8Z59
— Andrew Surabian (@Surabees) October 9, 2018
Potential successors floating for Haley:
1-Dina Powell
2-Kelly Ayotte
3-Richard Grenell
4-Ivanka Trump
5-Bob Corker (Trump said he will decide in 2 to 3 weeks) https://t.co/e5u3mkkRP2— Joyce Karam (@Joyce_Karam) October 9, 2018

US ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley’s assertion that Iran is the “biggest issue” for the US today is ridiculous and Washington has much bigger foreign and domestic issues to be worried about, experts told RT.
In an interview with the Fox & Friends morning show, Haley said that Americans “do need to be worried about Iran” because the country is “constantly in the middle of trouble”.
But former US diplomat Jim Jatras believes any claims that Iran was the US’s biggest problem are “ridiculous” and that Iran has “no real relationship to US national interests at all”.
Seyed Mohammad Marandi, a professor of North American Studies at the University of Tehran, told RT that if Iran really is the Trump administration’s biggest issue, it shows that the US “doesn’t understand its own priorities.”
Jatras said it was unfortunate that US President Donald Trump had “surrounded himself” with neoconservatives and people from previous administrations — and that instead of conducting his promised “America First” foreign policy, he was running an “Israel and Saudi Arabia First” foreign policy.
Haley also told Fox & Friends that European countries, which have reaffirmed their commitment to the Iran nuclear deal which Trump scrapped earlier this year, are “so wrong” and that is is all down to their “ego and pride”.
Too much irony: US ambassador to the UN @nikkihaley says Iran is "constantly in the middle of trouble" and EU countries are too concerned with their "ego and pride" 🤔😂 https://t.co/1CDMjopjXt
— Danielle Ryan (@DanielleRyanJ) September 26, 2018
European countries have come up with a new “special purpose vehicle” (SPV) — a mechanism which aims to help European companies avoid potential US sanctions if they do business in Iran after Trump reintroduced economic sanctions on Tehran earlier this year.
Asked about Brussels’ so-called ego and pride, Jatras said that any mechanism the EU comes up with is “only as good as European courage and willingness to stand up against Washington, which I consider to be at best questionable”.
Jatras maintains that “all it would take” was the US Treasury Department to sanction the new EU mechanism before Europeans would “collapse like a house of cards” and bow to US demands. “I wish the europeans had some ego and pride, but they don’t, they’re worthless and weak,” he added.
Marandi, on the other had, said the US was acting like a “rogue regime” and an “arrogant power” by dictating terms to the Europeans, telling them what they can and cannot do. “[The US] has no respect for Europe, it has no respect for European countries, it has no respect for European companies, nor European citizens,” he said. Trump, he added, is “behaving like some kind of Godfather, where he expects countries to abide by his demands and if not they’ll be punished.”
In the Fox interview, Haley also hit out at former Secretary of State John Kerry who has said that he stayed in touch with Iran’s foreign minister, calling the admission “anti-American” and hurtful to the country.
READ MORE: Iran tells Trump to stop ‘disruptive interference’ in Middle East if he wants cheaper oil
Jatras agreed that Kerry’s activities are “questionable” and that a former Secretary of State should not be carrying out his own foreign policy, regardless of what the current administration’s policy is.
Haley also claimed that world leaders laughed during Trump’s speech at the UN this week out of “respect” for how “honest” he is.

No member of the White House administration ever questioned Donald Trump’s ability as the US president or discussed removing him from the office, the US envoy to the UN, Nikki Haley said when asked about the Rod Rosenstein leak.
“I’m there almost every other week and I can tell you never has anyone talked about the 25th amendment, never has anyone even questioned the president’s mental stability or anything,” Haley told ABC on Sunday when asked if the cabinet had any discussion about invoking the amendment that particularly allows a president to be removed from office due to his inability to serve.
Haley also said that she personally has “never been part of it” and has “never heard it.” The US ambassador to the UN added that she has no reasons to believe that it “is a reality at all among all of the cabinet members” and branded any such rumors “absurd.”
The latest White House scandal stems from a piece published by the New York Times, which claimed that the US Deputy Attorney General, Rod Rosenstein, allegedly suggested secretly recording Trump so as to impeach him under the 25th amendment. The article also said that Rosenstein sought to enlist AG Jeff Sessions and the former Homeland Security Secretary John Kelly, who is now the White House chief of staff, to help him remove Trump from office.
The Times cited memos by the Former Deputy FBI Director Andrew McCabe as one of its sources. Both McCabe and Rosenstein distanced themselves from this report. The deputy AG also called it “inaccurate and factually incorrect.”
However, Trump himself seemed to be unnerved by the explosive report as he vowed to rid the Justice Department of “lingering stench” following the publication.
