EastEnders upped the raunch factor in Tuesday night’s episode as Shirley Carter (played by Linda Henry) and Jean Slater (Gillian Wright) were seen breaking into a hen party at E20.

At the nightclub, the women were surrounded by erotic dancers and the wild party was dimly lit, with loud music pumping through the room.

But some fans of the BBC show were baffled by the vast number of party-goers, as the event was held in broad daylight.

Many viewers questioned why the function would be held in the middle of the afternoon when some functions of this kind happen later in the evening.

On Twitter, one person wrote: “That nightclub in the Square, must be the only one in the country that opens in the day!”

Another viewer added: “Packed nightclub but it’s still daylight and the market is still open?”

A third commentator exclaimed: “AND IT’S DAY TIME OUTSIDE!!! What! I’m so confused.”

Others complained about Jean bringing Hayley’s (Katie Jarvis) baby to the seedy party, with one even demanding the person responsible for the script be sacked.

A show viewer raged: “Whoever is responsible for this storyline with a baby in a nightclub should be fired immediately!”

Someone else asked: “What would the lady from social services say if she saw Jean in the club with the baby in the pram?”

Meanwhile, a second person tweeted: “Seriously taking a baby into a night club, get a grip”.

Nevertheless, some viewers found the scene hilarious and took to social media to comment on the moment.

One fan declared: “That was one of the funniest moments in EastEnders that I’ve seen; the baby at the club with Jean.”

Another shared: “Haha aww baby Cherry giggling at the song in the club now that is cute.”

Somebody else begged: “Forget the Mel [Owen] storyline can we just have half an hour of the club with them strippers please.”

Although there were aspects of humour in the Jean plot, the Slater matriarch’s current predicament is anything but funny.

The grandmother was recently told by her doctor she is suffering from ovarian cancer, but needs to have further tests to be 100 percent sure.

She is yet to tell her loved ones about the devastating prognosis she received and has continued to live her life as normal.

Jean was previously diagnosed with bipolar, a condition which proved tasking for her on many occasions.

Now, she may have to face yet another challenge if the final result confirms her ovarian cancer diagnosis.

EastEnders continues Thursday on BBC One at 7.30pm and 8.30pm.

Six people are dead and over a hundred people have been injured after a stampede in an Italian nightclub.

Unconfirmed initial reports say the stampede started after pepper spray was used inside the crowded club. The resulting mass panic reportedly led people to trample each other while trying to escape the building. The club is located in Ancona, a northern city on the coast of the Adriatic Sea.

The Cameo nightclub in Bournemouth, UK was evacuated after suspected tear gas was released, causing some revelers to complain of itchy eyes and shortness of breath. Forty people were treated by paramedics.

Dorset police said in a statement to Metro News that they received a report that some type of irritant, possibly CS spray, had been released within the nightclub in the early hours of Saturday morning.

The premises were subsequently evacuated and 40 people were treated by paramedics at the scene. One person was taken to the hospital as a precaution.

Police found no evidence of any substance that posed an ongoing risk to the public during a search of the building. However, the investigation is continuing.

Why don’t they talk about some of the good things?” Against a background of deep house music and seaside breezes, I tilt back my glass of Chianti and laugh my ass off.

Elena Mastropasqua, the 40-something owner of Eremo — the Italian word for hermitage — and her girlfriend smile and wait for the groaning translator to translate my question. He does so with an apologetic shrug. It’s not like there are many countries where fascism makes for an effective punchline, and especially not in Italy, a country whose past was scarred by it and whose present sees it flirting with some of those same elements as leader of the far-right Lega party, and interior minister, Matteo Salvini just turned away a ship carrying more than 600 immigrants.

Mastropasqua doesn’t bite, but instead spills. All about how her grandfather Onofrio, a history and philosophy professor in Rome, was on a walkabout around the ancient city, contemplating the nature of fascism, amid a country in the grips of Mussolini madness. In the end he’d grown so sick of fascism that he headed south, to Bari, and then to Molfetta, a sleepy seaside town right on the Adriatic coast. One day Onofrio stopped on the roadside to watch a farmer curse God for having made the beachfront soil essentially untillable.

You can drink, dance and party, and then walk, or swim, back to the hotel.

“Nothing grows here,” he purportedly told Onofrio, who, in a rush of instinct, offered to buy the land and free the farmer from his fruitless attempts. Onofrio wouldn’t even try to farm on it, but Bari was sufficiently far enough from Rome that he could avoid fascist toxicity. Years later, after enduring Mussolini’s rise, celebrating his fall, building a house, renting the house out in 1971 and, in what was largely felt by the family to be a colossal mistake, selling a portion of the land to a hotel, the Mastropasquas turned what they were now calling Eremo into the best beachside club in Bari.

Mastropasqua’s father, who deeply regretted selling the plot next to theirs, died at 95 but lived long enough to see his daughter open the club in 2009 in what he told her was the single best act of revenge he could have ever imagined.

Revenge?

“Revenge against the past,” Mastropasqua says earnestly, as she walks me around the property. Kitted out with glowing white globes as big as oversize Pilates balls lighting the spaces between wooden chaise lounges and molded plastic pop art chairs, the grounds look like they’re out of a postmodern Fellini-esque take on the future. The DJs outside play while people dance, drink and talk. There are two DJs inside, one working a bar, the other a large space for live shows. A pop-up record store runs along the front.

“This is one of the best clubs in all of Italy,” says musician Xabier Iriondo. The guitarist, whose band Afterhours is an Italian version of U2, cites attention to detail, locale and a concert curation that covers all the bases of cool. Eremo also has gay-themed nights and a kitchen not just to die for but also to kill for. You can have a night out for an amount of money that makes staying at one of the nearby hotels totally possible. Which means you can drink, dance and party, and then walk, or swim, back to the hotel.

The city council has countered all of Mastropasqua’s plans to build out, while local hotels expand and eye the plot jealously. A French tourist famously described Eremo as “a reality show” when complaining online about confusing crowd control. But Eremo endures.

“This is my home,” says Mastropasqua. “We all expect and want everyone to have a good time.” Which, as the DJ starts playing Iggy Pop’s “Lust for Life,” is not just good enough. At 3 in the morning, it’s great.

Britain’s Crown Prosecution Service announced on Tuesday morning (EST) that the England all-rounder had been charged following an incident outside a Bristol nightclub in September.

Stokes and two other men are due to appear before Bristol Magistrates’ Court at a date to be fixed.

The 26-year-old has not played for England since the incident outside a nightclub, missing out on the Ashes tour to Australia. He did play in six domestic matches in New Zealand in December.

The England and Wales Cricket Board has also given Stokes permission to play in the Indian Premier League, which starts in April.

He posted on Twitter that he was ‘keen to have an opportunity’ to clear his name.

“I gave a full and detailed account of my actions to the police on day one – the same day as the incident – and have cooperated at each step of the police inquiry,” he added.

“The CPS’ decision … at least means that my account of what happened that night can come out in court and be made public.”

Stokes was named last week in England’s Twenty20 squad for the tri-series against Australia and New Zealand next month but his participation was dependent on whether he was charged.

“ECB is aware that Ben Stokes has been charged with affray in relation to an incident in Bristol in September,” an ECB spokesperson said.

“The Board will now convene within 48 hours to decide on Ben Stokes’ availability to represent England at this stage.

“A further announcement will be made in due course.”

The wife of Orlando nightclub shooter Omar Mateen told the FBI just hours after the June 2016 rampage that she knew about her husband’s plot ahead of time, USA Today reported Friday.

Noor Salman reportedly told authorities that she knew that Mateen was “going to do something bad,” and that she was aware that Pulse nightclub would be the target. She also said her husband would regularly go to the shooting range, browse jihadi websites, and watch beheading videos while fuming about how the US treated Muslims in the Middle East.

The revelations surfaced last month when the FBI quietly released a 12-page account of Salman’s interview with an FBI agent shortly after the attack. The document appears to confirm previous reports that Salman was with her husband when he went to buy ammunition and a holster before the attack.

Mateen, who pledged allegiance to the Islamic State, shot and killed 49 people and injured dozens more at Pulse nightclub, a popular venue among Orlando’s gay residents. He was eventually killed in a shootout with police, but it was too late to prevent what was one of the deadliest mass shootings in modern US history.

The story of Salman’s involvement has changed over time. Though she initially told investigators that she knew about her husband’s plans to attack the nightclub, she later told The New York Times that she was “unaware of everything.”

“I don’t condone what [Mateen] has done,” Salman said. “I am very sorry for what has happened. He has hurt a lot of people.”

In January 2017, Salman was arrested on federal charges of obstruction of justice, and aiding and abetting the attempted provision of material support to a foreign terrorist organization. She pleaded not guilty and said she suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder stemming from spousal abuse.

Her attorneys argued that her 12-page admission to the FBI should not be considered as evidence in court because she made the statement without a lawyer present. It’s unclear whether their motion will be granted. The trial is slated to begin in March.

A blast at a nightclub in the Bajo Cauca Antioquia region of Colombia has injured 31 people, the mayor of Caucasia has said.

Several people were injured when two attackers reportedly an threw an explosive device into the Bora Bora nightclub, Caucasia, in the early hours of Friday morning.

Others were injured in the stampede that ensued, according to the Caracol radio station. Several people are thought to have suffered serious injuries.

The two suspected attackers, a man and a woman, have been detained according to the mayor Oscar Anibal Suarez, who spoke to RCN Radio.

He confirmed 31 people were injured, three seriously, according to AP.

Colonel Carlos Sierra Nino, commander of the Antioquia police force, said two people approached the nightclub on a motorbike before an explosive was thrown at the building.

The motive for the attack is not yet clear but Suarez suggested it may have been gang related.

The local government denounced the incident in a statement on Twitter.

“We reject any act of violence against the community of Caucasia,” it read.

“The mayor invites all the citizens to join the strike to show the disagreement at the violent acts towards our town.”

A British man has been sentenced to three months in prison for touching a man on the hip while on a night out in Dubai.

Jamie Harron, 27, an electrician from Stirling, was on a two-day stopover in the United Arab Emirates when he brushed past Jordanian businessman Emad Tabaz while at the Rock Bottom bar and touched his hip.

Harron, who was arrested in July, says he was simply trying to avoid spilling drinks when the incident happened.

Tabaz had dropped the claims, but the prosecution still went ahead.

Harron has been released on bail while his lawyers seek an appeal against the public indecency charge.

The defendant had already been sentenced to a month in jail over public drinking and making a rude gesture on the same night.

A statement by campaign group Detained in Dubai, which has been supporting Harron, said his lawyers would appeal for him and seek a civil suit against his accusers.

“Today Jamie Harron was sentenced to three months imprisonment for accidentally brushing the hip of an Arab customer at the Rock Bottom bar in Dubai ,” a statement from the group said.

“Key witnesses to the incident were not called upon to testify to discredit the allegations.

“Jamie will appeal the verdict, though this will prolong his increasingly difficult circumstances in Dubai, and compound the enormous financial losses he has suffered as a consequence of the ongoing case.”

Harron has already has lost his job because of the case and has spent over £32,000 ($ 42,500) in expenses and legal fees trying to resolve the matter.

A spokeswoman for the Foreign and Commonwealth Office said: “We have been in contact with a British man following his arrest in Dubai, in July. We are providing consular assistance.”

The couple rocked crowns and capes as they became man and wife. They planned the wedding close to the Ethiopian New Year and the wedding also featured beautiful, traditional Ethiopian Orthodox umbrellas.

Though the wedding featured a marathon of events and flair, it was also, of course, a wedding, so they featured “a photo booth, a candy table and Bob Marley, Marvin Gaye and Bruno Mars songs,” the Times reported.
