Sunday’s Vida ended with Emma feeling low, hunched over a toilet from the side effects of the abortion pill and reeling at the realization that her sister has re-established contact with the father they thought was dead. Yeah, you’d probably seek comfort in the arms of your recent ex, too. Emma and her former girlfriend, Nico — who comforts a sweaty, shaky Emma in the episode’s final moments — are “both really going through a lot,” series star Mishel Prada tells TVLine. “Nico’s past is catching up with them. She says it throughout the episode, and you realize she just gets caught up in helping other people and being a savior.” But Nico, played by Roberta Colindrez, has decided she’s had enough: As viewers will recall, she gave Emma (who also happens to be her employer) her two weeks’ notice earlier in the ep. “When I was going through that episode, I was thinking, ‘Oh, wow. This is an opportunity to show somebody who thinks they’re immune from this,’” she says. “Like, ‘I’m strong,’ and it’s just like, no. This is something you’re going to have to deal with, and you can’t just brush over it.” And yes, Emma’s repeated rush for the nearest bathroom wasn’t the most pleasant thing to watch, but Prada has a deeper take on it. “If you really want to get philosophical with it, we’re talking about that generational trauma and purging this past that she’s had, which is the way that she was treating Baco and the way that she would treat other people.” Getting all of that out of her system, so to speak, allows Emma “to be able to then go on and not be that way anymore.” Prada chuckles. “At least, try not to be that way anymore.” Will this softer Emma stick around? We’ll see how it pans out: The series finale airs Sunday on Starz (9/8c). With the weight of their mother’s legacy on their shoulders, the sisters are forced to decide whether they will ultimately stay together or go their separate ways. F1 driver Nico Hulkenberg’s Renault car spectacularly burst into flames and flipped over following a collision with French driver Romain Grosjean on the first lap of Sunday’s Grand Prix in Abu Dhabi. Fortunately, Hulkenberg emerged unscathed from the wreck, which occurred just moments after the chequered flag at the final Formula 1 race of the season. The TV broadcast captured the frantic Renault team as they attempted to contact their driverasking him, ‘are you okay, Nico?’ “Get me out of this fire, there’s fire,” came the German’s chilling response. That’s the first time I can remember hearing panic in a Formula One driver’s voice. Awful end to a very impressive season for Nico Hulkenberg. The race resumed shortly after the accident after the safety car resumed order on the track. “Grosjean did nothing wrong there. I imagine he was in the blind spot of Hulkenberg there,” said Sky Sports commentator Martin Brundle of the accident. “I think that’s the right solution for the reasons I’ve already outlined.” RELATED STORIES

Trailers are an under-appreciated art form insofar that many times they’re seen as vehicles for showing footage, explaining films away, or showing their hand about what moviegoers can expect. Foreign, domestic, independent, big budget: What better way to hone your skills as a thoughtful moviegoer than by deconstructing these little pieces of advertising?
This week we go to Comic-Con and talk fandom with George Takei, we try and escape an abusive relationship with a drug lord while sunning it up on vacation, take a last look at the singer Nico, remember a time long since past filled with frivolity and heartbreak, and connect with old friends in the oddest way imaginable.
When it comes to trying to communicate what this weekend’s San Diego Comic-Con is supposed to represent, this trailer comes close. While I think there are more nuanced ways of trying to cram so many different fandoms into one documentary, director Spencer F. Lee does an OK job here. While you get George Takei narrating the entire thing, you have Gene Simmons talking about the rise of the comic book geek, and Nichelle Nichols talking about the effect her character had on Star Trek, it is a hodgepodge of ideas. At one point in watching this trailer, you might think it’s a documentary on Starlog. Still, documentaries like this are always a breezy way to get back in touch with the purity of what created these fans in the first place. The motivations of the creators who developed these properties, their collective cultural impact, it’s just a gentle reminder that fandom can still be positive. I’ll take that POV.
I didn’t connect with Nico as an artist until Margot Tenenbaum walked off that bus in The Royal Tenenbaums. Her voice was unlike anything I had ever heard, but it makes that scene exquisite. Director Susanna Nicchiarelli has focused in on telling a story that attempts to unpack the last year of Nico’s life. Dealing with her addictions and other assorted maladies doesn’t at first seem like a gripping tale, but the trailer makes a persuasive case as to why this biopic is worth the effort to seek out.
I was white knuckling it the entire time. At the very least, no matter how this movie is received, director Isabella Eklöf knows how to create tension in a trailer. You feel a low level of unease as soon as the trailer begins and it does not relent. I can feel the heat, bask in the stark bright white light of a place perfect for a vacation, but then it takes a dark turn.
A love triangle featuring the trophy girlfriend of a petty drug lord, caught up in a web of luxury and violence in a modern dark gangster tale set in the beautiful port city of Bodrum on the Turkish Riviera.
What is remarkable about this trailer is that it’s mostly focused on creating an impression versus trying to set up a story. And the impact is a strong one because I am now left wanting to know how all of these narrative threads come together.
Stick with me on this one. Director Pawel Pawlikowski won an Oscar for 2013’s Ida. While you may or may not have heard of Ida, Pawlikowski has over 50 wins, including a BAFTA, as a filmmaker for his various cinematic endeavors. The director has been quiet for the last five years, and this looks incredible. Just letting the trailer slowly burn as you figure out what in fact is happening is, perhaps, one of the nicer delights I’ve had this week. It just slowly unspools without providing us any context or any narrative clues as to what is happening here. Sure, some type of love affair (perhaps an unhealthy one?) abounds, but I love the long, lingering looks here.
This is going to be a different kind of series. To wit, this is about two long ago BFFs from high school who happen to lose touch only to connect over BDSM years later. While that alone is an intriguing enough premise, this little tidbit also caught my attention:
The dramedy series is loosely based on the life experiences of Rightor Doyle (HBO’s “Barry,” FX’s “You’re the Worst”), who wrote, directed, and executive produced the series.
Doyle’s bona fides are enough for me to give this a whirl (the series is only seven episodes). A well, the premise is off the wall enough to break through some of the more stodgy episodic television out there today.
Nota bene: If you have any suggestions of trailers for possible inclusion in this column, even have a trailer of your own to pitch, please let me know by sending me a note at Christopher_Stipp@yahoo.com or look me up via Twitter at @Stipp

The two had a fractious relationship when at Mercedes together between 2014 and 2016, and that rivalry was rekindled by Rosberg’s comments earlier this week.
The 32-year-old has joined Sky Sports’ coverage team for the upcoming F1 season and pinpointed Hamilton’s apparent inconsistency throughout a season.
Rosberg explained: “He has these periods where he is just not on it.”
Hamilton won the Drivers’ Championship in both of their first two years together but was bettered by the German in 2016, with Rosberg retiring after winning his one and only title that season at what he called the “pinnacle” of his careeer.
The Briton regained his status as No 1 last season by beating Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel despite trailing Rosberg’s fellow German by 14 points at the summer break.
But Hamilton believes he has nothing to prove in terms of consistency and claims his form last season – winning nine races to finish 46 points clear at the top – shows as much.
“I think I’ve proved that that’s not the case last year,” he said in a press conference previewing the 2018 Australian Grand Prix.
“Again I think there’s a lot of people that need to get headlines and so maybe that’s one way of saying it.
“But no, the goal this year is to be even more consistent than I was last year.
“I think consistency was the reason I won the world championship last year.”
Hamilton starts the season as the favourite as he looks to claim a fifth career title and match F1 legend Juan Manuel Fangio in the process.
Rosberg quit F1 at the end of last season after beating Lewis Hamilton to the 2016 title.
The announcement sparked weeks of speculation over who would replace the German.
Finland’s Valtteri Bottas eventually took up the second seat at Mercedes, joining from Williams.
And Toto Wolff says Hamilton was briefed about Mercedes’ shortlist of candidates before they went for Bottas.
“After we shortlisted drivers who we were interested in I gave Lewis a call to get his opinion,” Wolff told the BBC.
“He is a member of the team so it is important to hear all the options and that was one part.”
Wolff also revealed he was inundated with calls from rival F1 drivers in the aftermath of Rosberg’s retirement.
“We were in Vienna and announced Nico was retiring,” Wolff said.
“And I think within 45 minutes I had almost everybody texting or trying to call, begging me [laughs].”
Hamilton won the prize last month for the fourth time in his career, despite finishing ninth in the Mexican Grand Prix.
It means that Ferrari’s Vettel has now gone four years without winning the prize, leading to talk he may never be able to reign supreme again.
In the time since his last victory, both Hamilton and the retired Nico Rosberg have dominated Formula One.
But Vettel insists he is not bothered by the dominance of his rivals, and has instead set his sights on winning the Drivers’ Championship next year.
“That’s not the way I look at it, I don’t count the days,” he said, when asked about his four-year title drought.
“I want to win the world championship for Ferrari. That’s what I want. That’s my goal and we have to realise that it doesn’t work out this year.
“We still have a lot in us as a team, so that should make it easier to fight.”
Vettel led the standings from March until September, before Hamilton gazumped him.
And the German insists he lost out on being No1 because of his own mistakes – and not because Hamilton was too good for him.
“I don’t like that. We had a straight fight,” he added.
“It was great for us this year, as well for them, but I don’t want to in any way take any glory away from him.
“He deserves every bit of it. Two races to go, he seals the championship and he deserves to win.”
Vettel last finished top back in 2013, when he was with Red Bull.
But the 30-year-old will now remain with Ferrari having extended his contract until 2020.
Hamilton finished ninth in Mexico yesterday after a collision on the first lap to seal his fourth F1 crown.
And now he’s eyeing a fifth title and says he won’t take the easy way out like his former team-mate.
“Four is a great number. But I want number five now,” the 32-year-old said.
“I want to go out at the top … I could do the easy thing, like obviously Nico did, which is just stop and retreat with these four titles. But I think there’s more in me.
“I think there’s more to come, more of a challenge. There’s harder times ahead and I like that, I love that. That’s challenging and it would be so boring without it.”
Rosberg announced last December, days after securing his first title, that he was retiring after a career spent battling Hamilton.
The German, a family man, made clear he had been drained by the 2016 campaign and was not prepared to expend the same amount of physical and mental energy to defend a title that had been so hard to win.
Hamilton, who is developing interests outside of the sport in music, film and fashion, said he too had considered a change of scene but that was still some way down the road.
“I will continue to race while I love it, I’ve enjoyed it this year more than ever,” he said.
“I do think about how it would be so nice at some stage just to live in one place, a lot more socialising, walking your dogs every day or surfing.
“But then I’m thinking, there’s a lot of life to live beyond 40. There’s a lot to go.”
Next season will see two four times world champions, Hamilton and Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel, duelling on track with Red Bull’s 20-year-old Dutch star Max Verstappen – the winner on Sunday – leading a new generation.
McLaren’s double title-holder Fernando Alonso will also potentially be in a more competitive car.
“It’s kind of cool to be in this battle with him,” the Briton, who now has a record 72 pole positions and the second most wins (62) after Michael Schumacher (91), said of his new arch-rival Vettel.
“He got 50 poles yesterday (Saturday) and I’m like ‘Hmm, I don’t want to give him any more poles because he gets closer to me’. So I’ve got to keep on, act as inspiration to keep pushing it. Same with wins, same with championships.”
Hamilton, who is expected to agree a contract extension soon, said the fact that Vettel had signed for three more years with Ferrari, keeping him there until 2020, was also a source of motivation.
“I’m like:’Ferrari are not going to like me for the next couple of years’,” he said.
“But it’s OK because we are going to make it as hard as it can possibly be for them to win championships. I really am looking forward to that battle with them.”
The reigning world champion, 32, is joining Sky Sports F1 to feature in their coverage of the Japanese Grand Prix at the weekend.
Rosberg, who retired from F1 after winning the 2016 World Championship ahead of Mercedes team-mate Lewis Hamilton, will be part of the Sky F1 team covering this weekend’s action at Suzuka.
It’s a circuit which Rosberg knows well having won last year’s race there, and claiming pole position in each of the last three F1 seasons.
“I am thrilled to confirm I will be joining the Sky F1 team this weekend in Japan,” Rosberg said.
“Since my retirement last year I have only attended a few Grands Prix so I am pleased to return to the fold.
“In 2016 I had a great win at this track, so I am looking forward to share my insights and memories of Suzuka. I love this race track and the fans are also amazing.
“It will be great to have the opportunity to thank the Japanese fans for their wonderful support over the years.”
Rosberg will join Martin Brundle, Damon Hill, Johnny Herbert, Anthony Davidson and Ted Kravitz as part of the team for both qualifying and the race.
He will also be making appearances on Sky Sports in Italy and Germany.
“Adding the current World Champion and Japanese Grand Prix winner to the team is great,” said Brundle.
“His knowledge of the latest hybrid cars, the Mercedes team and Lewis Hamilton is second to none.
“Nico will provide both the most ardent motorsport fan and the casual viewer with expert analysis and insight in what is a crucial race. He’s a good guy, it will be fun to have him around.”
The spat started on Lap 1 when Magnussen radioed back to Haas about an incident between his team-mate Romain Grosjean and Hulkenberg, claiming it was going to be “a dirty race” if the German was allowed to get away with it.
The stewards disagreed but were called upon again when Magnussen himself came up against the Renault driver, running him wide in Turn Two as they battled for track position.
The Haas driver was handed a five-second time penalty but the ill feeling continued into the drivers’ pen.
In the middle of a TV interview, Magnussen was sarcastically congratulated by Hulkenberg on being “the most unsporting driver on the whole grid” to which the Dane responded with the now-infamous retort.
The incident was widely condemned but Haas team principal Gunther Steiner told Express Sport while such behaviour should not be encouraged, Magnussen’s passion for the sport was at the heart of the incident rather than anything more sinister.
“Drivers showing some emotion and personality is not a bad thing,” Steiner said.
“While we understand not everyone agrees with Kevin’s position or what he had to say after the race, we also understand the circumstances.
“It’s not a regular occurrence, nor do we expect it to become a regular occurrence.
“Kevin is a talented racecar driver who is passionate about what he does and our support of him is unwavering.”
And Steiner appears to have buried the hatchet with Hulkenberg too, appearing on his Instagram story smiling with the Renault man.
“Sucking balls…no thx!” Hulkenberg’s caption read.
“Especially when they’re Danish!
“Gunther and I agree on that.”
