In Marvel World of Heroes, you can create your own superhero in a Marvel game for the first time, according to a Niantic blog post.

Players will be able to forge their hero's identity and origin story. They'll be tasked with patrolling their neighborhood to thwart crimes, take on missions and fend off interdimensional threats and super villains. As you level up, you'll unlock more gear and abilities. You'll be able to team up with your friends, as well as the likes of Spider-Man, Captain America and Wolverine. It seems players can also visit multiple alternate realities — in a virtual sense, anyway.

If you're interested in checking out the game, you can pre-register on the Marvel World of Heroes website. As it often does, Niantic will soft launch the game in select markets before rolling it out more broadly.

Pokemon Go Niantic net worth: How much is Pokemon Go game developer worth? https://briefnews.eu/pokemon-go-niantic-net-worth-how-much-is-pokemon-go-game-developer-worth/ https://briefnews.eu/pokemon-go-niantic-net-worth-how-much-is-pokemon-go-game-developer-worth/#respond Sat, 05 Jan 2019 05:19:49 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/pokemon-go-niantic-net-worth-how-much-is-pokemon-go-game-developer-worth/

Pokemon Go has enjoyed an incredibly successful 2018 and the game’s popularity shows no signs of slowing.

In addition to critical acclaim, the multiplayer game has earned commercial success, in part thanks to Pokemon Go developer Niantic’s strategy of drip-feeding a steady rollout of fresh content.

So although Pokemon Go is free to download, the aggregate of in-app payments have added up, earning Niantic a fortune in the process.

Pokemon Go reportedly made an estimated £625million ($ 795million) in revenue worldwide last year.

This represents a 35 percent jump in revenue over its first full year.

American players ploughed the most cash into Pokemon Go in 2018, sinking roughly £206 million ($ 262million) in the augmented-reality game over the last 12 months.

And Japanese players were unsurprisingly following close behind, spending approximately £188million ($ 239million).

The amount spent daily in Pokemon Go was also well up over 2018, with Pokemon Go raising an average of about £1.7million ($ 2.2million) per day for Niantic.

And Pokemon Go players also splashed more than £59million ($ 75million) on the game in the month leading up to Christmas.

These amazing numbers are primarily due to Niantic’s strategy of a regular succession of new Pokemon, plus live events and exciting features.

Niantic introduced the Community Days earlier last year, providing players with the paid-for opportunity to catch Pokemon and learn exclusive moves for a limited period each month.

Niantic additionally implemented a whole host of new features in the game.

These included the eagerly-anticipated friends list and trading, while PvP trainer battles – featuring the ability to fight friends in real life – launched only last month.

Pokemon Go’s latest addition is the Adventure Sync Hatchathon.

The Pokemon Go Adventure Sync Hatchathon is available until January 15 and allow players to earn double the normal amount of Stardust and Candy for hatching Eggs.

The January Community Day is about to take place and will star the Gen 2 starter Totodile.

Pokemon Go Gen 4 release: Great news for Niantic ahead of big Generation 4 update https://briefnews.eu/pokemon-go-gen-4-release-great-news-for-niantic-ahead-of-big-generation-4-update/ https://briefnews.eu/pokemon-go-gen-4-release-great-news-for-niantic-ahead-of-big-generation-4-update/#respond Wed, 07 Nov 2018 21:29:21 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/pokemon-go-gen-4-release-great-news-for-niantic-ahead-of-big-generation-4-update/

Pokemon Go will continue to expand under Niantic’s watchful eye, following news of some impressive new stats.

According to data firm Sensor Tower, the hit Android and iOS app has seen significant growth when it comes to its revenue streams.

As many Trainers will already know, Pokemon Go is free to download and play but comes with a shop where PokeCoins can be spent.

These microtransactions help support the game, which appears to be in a healthy position both in player numbers and revenue.

According to Sensor Tower, Pokemon Go generated an estimated $ 73 million in gross revenue worldwide across the App Store and Google Play in October.

“This was approximately 67 percent more than was spent in the game during October 2017, when the title grossed and estimated $ 43.6 million globally,” the Sensor Tower report confirms.

“It was also enough to place Pokémon GO at No. 8 for revenue among all apps on both stores worldwide, and No. 7 among mobile games. This ranked it one spot ahead of Fortnite from Epic Games.

“Japan barely edged out the United States in terms of its share of spending in Pokémon GO last month, accounting for 33.2 percent of the total, compared to the 32.9 percent contributed by Niantic’s home territory.

“Fifty-four percent of overall spending came from Google Play users.”

The question is whether the game can keep things going during the cold season, with winter an obvious problem for a game based on playing outside.

As this new growth in revenue is probably based partly on Trainers returning due to new features and Gen 4 Pokemon to catch, we would suggest it will.

The new Friends and Trading features helped kick-start the game again earlier this year and have proven very popular with fans.

And it looks like the new big update is being planned by Niantic right now.

According to those tracking the network traffic, Sinnoh evolution items have been found.

The Sinnoh Stone is used to evolve certain types of Pokemon and could be the next big Gen 4 update.

Here’s the Pokemon Go description for the new item, which states: “A special stone originally found in the Sinnoh region that can make certain species of Pokémon evolve.

“It is very tough and has a beautiful sheen.”

The interesting thing about this item is that the Sinnoh Stone has never been used in earlier Game Freak Pokemon games.

They have appeared in unofficial fanmade titles, which begs the question of whether this new item will be replacing other evolution items in Gen 4.

For the time being this has been data miners and isn’t an official announcement from Niantic.

So at this time, the release of the new item remains speculation at this time, with no firm release date known.

UPDATE ONE: Niantic has confirmed that the rollout of their new Pokemon Go Adventure Sync has begun, although, it won’t be available to everyone just yet.

As they have done in the past, the development team have chosen to begin their rollout of a new feature with the highest level players.

Pokemon Go Adventure Sync is now available to players who are level 35 and over and will only be found as an optional mode in the game.

How to activate Adventure Sync

To use this feature, you’ll have to always enable location permissions and connect to either Apple Health or Google Fit.

  • Tap the Main Menu button.
  • Tap the Settings button.
  • Tap on Adventure Sync. You’ll also be prompted to grant permissions for Pokémon GO to access your Apple Health or Google Fit data.
  • To disable Adventure Sync, just revisit the settings page and uncheck Adventure Sync

ORIGINAL: A new Pokemon Go update is coming to Android and iOS very soon and it appears Niantic has already started the process of rolling it out to fans.

Trainers have started to report a new patch being forced to their devices, which suggests that the development team are gearing up for a launch of the game’s next major feature.

The new Pokemon Go update could go live either later today or tomorrow, depending on the timing that Niantic has decided on.

New updates are sometimes released around 9pm in the UK, meaning that we could start seeing news and announcements in a few hours.

There’s also the chance that Niantic will wait until Thursday to launch their next major project for Pokemon Go.

This would be Adventure Sync, the new feature that will allow players to rack up rewards from their pocket.

Adventure Sync was announced last week by Niantic and will allow fans to track their walking distance, even when the app is not open.

Trainers will get to track how much distance they have covered, as well as unlock rewards for their activity.

Adventure Sync will work in the background to tally distance, earn Candy, and hatch Eggs.

That’s some game-changing stuff, especially for those players who aren’t able to access their phones when on the move.

It’s also been confirmed that push notifications will be used to inform players when their Buddy Pokémon has found a Candy or when an Egg is about to hatch.

This will still provide players a good level control over the game, although it does mean a big update for the game.

There’s also the chance that this new patch and feature could add some serious bugs to the game.

So fans will need to be vigil when it comes to spotting problems this week.

Players will also need to agree to new terms and conditions, as the new feature will mean the app acting differently when the new update goes live.

This will include turning on background activity for your Pokemon Go app, which will mean certain data being collected by Niantic.

“Adventure Sync, which is first being implemented in Pokémon GO, gives players the ability to record their steps with just the phone in their pockets,” a message from Niantic explains.

“This key feature unlocks a wide variety of gameplay opportunities on the Niantic Real World Platform, serving as an efficient and phone-friendly high-engagement tool that inspires players to head out into their local communities.

“We’re looking forward to finding new and exciting ways to implement it in our other games in the future.

Adventure Sync will change how Pokemon Go works

“It’s no surprise that Pokémon GO Trainers love to get outside and walk. So far in 2018, Trainers have already walked an astonishing 53 per cent more while playing Pokémon GO than they did in 2017. In a recent international survey of nearly 2,000 Trainers, we found that 70% felt that playing Pokémon GO had motivated them to walk more on average, and 64% said that playing the game motivated them to go outdoors.

“Additionally, 47% of Trainers indicated that they felt their physical activity level had increased since playing, and the same number felt that playing Pokémon GO helped them connect with others.

“This type of response from the community reinforces our commitment to not only create innovative real-world games, but also to invest in features like Adventure Sync, which provides a gentle but effective motivation loop that encourages people to get outside and be active every day.

“The new gameplay system will sync in the background with iOS HealthKit and Android Google Fit, and give players access to a weekly summary that highlights distance travelled on foot and other stats, including calories, burned or steps counted, if their device makes those available.

“Adventure Sync will give Trainers the option to apply their activity and movement during their morning commutes, strolls about town on lunch or evening jogs back to Pokémon GO for some big rewards.

“While Trainers will be rewarded regularly in Candy found by Buddy Pokémon or Eggs hatching more efficiently, they will also be able to participate in weekly milestones for walking that will reward them for their hard work.”

Pokemon Go Gen 4 release date NEWS: Niantic drops HUGE Piplup teaser https://briefnews.eu/pokemon-go-gen-4-release-date-news-niantic-drops-huge-piplup-teaser/ https://briefnews.eu/pokemon-go-gen-4-release-date-news-niantic-drops-huge-piplup-teaser/#respond Sat, 13 Oct 2018 14:53:27 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/pokemon-go-gen-4-release-date-news-niantic-drops-huge-piplup-teaser/

Pokemon Go developer Niantic continues to tease the release of Gen 4 Pocket Monsters from the Sinnoh region.

After confirming plans to release Gen 4 Pokemon soon, Niantic has posted a water-themed teaser on Twitter.

Pointing at the imminent release of Piplup, the teaser references Piplup’s ability to dive for over ten minutes to hunt.

“We’re excited to hear reports of a Water-type Pokemon originally discovered in the Sinnoh region that can dive for over 10 minutes to hunt,” reads a Niantic tweet.

“Its speed and quick movement definitely lead us to believe that it’s a skilled swimmer. Which Pokemon could this be?”

Piplup is one the Gen 4 starter Pokemon, alongside Turtwig and Chimchar.

Fans can expect similar Turtwig and Chimchar teasers in the coming days, as the Gen 4 release date draws ever closer.

The tweet may also suggest that the Gen 4 starter Pokemon could be released first.

Niantic also plans to make major changes to Pokemon Go as part of the Gen 4 update.

Weather, for example, will have less of an impact on the rate in which certain Pokemon appear.

Indeed, players should notice a more diverse selection of Pokemon appearing in any given area.

“As you explore a given area, you will notice that a greater variety of Pokemon species will appear over time and at different rates,” Niantic explains.

“Certain areas, such as parks and nature reserves, will now contain more varied Pokemon species.”

The Pokemon Go developer also plans to re-balance the battle mechanics in the game.

CP values will be adjusted to improve balance, while HP values will be altered in a bid to close the gap between the stronger and weaker Pokemon.

“Pokemon Defence and Stamina values will be retroactively rebalanced, allowing highly defensive Pokemon to be valuable in battle by outlasting opponents rather than simply running out the clock,” the post continues.

“Defence values have also been slightly retroactively reduced for most Pokemon. Changes like these will help narrow the gap between Pokemon with the highest defensive stats and other Pokemon.”

Pokemon Go news: Shiny glitch hits game during Niantic Adventure Week https://briefnews.eu/pokemon-go-news-shiny-glitch-hits-game-during-niantic-adventure-week/ https://briefnews.eu/pokemon-go-news-shiny-glitch-hits-game-during-niantic-adventure-week/#respond Mon, 28 May 2018 05:26:52 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/pokemon-go-news-shiny-glitch-hits-game-during-niantic-adventure-week/

Having got some very good news this week, Pokemon Go fans have been hit by a few ongoing gaming issues.

The Adventure Week event was recently announced and provided new bonuses to Trainers, some which were revealed, while others were kept secret.

Pokemon Go players were told that more Rock-types would spawn at a greater rate during the event, which is set to land until June 5.

They were also told that new Candy rewards were also available, while fresh Field Research could be undertaken to face Aerodactyl.

However, one of the most popular new parts of the event was not revealed officially by Niantic.

Fans have now discovered that there are new Shiny Pokemon to catch during Adventure Week.

This includes Kabuto, Kabutops, Omanyte, Omastar, and Aerodactyl, all of whom should be spawning at a higher rate.

The Shiny Aerodactyl is available through the special Raid introduced by Niantic this week too.

However, since their release, some Trainers have been finding it hard tracking them down.

And this probably has something to do with a new glitch that’s been discovered.

While it’s harmless enough and in no way game-breaking, it could prove extremely frustrating to Shiny hunters.

Players are reporting that Shiny variants aren’t been shown in the Catch Screen, with the Shiny model not appearing until the Pocket Monster has been caught, and checked in the official Pokedex.

While this could prove a nightmare for fans, there is an easy fix to remove the issue.

Trainers who think they may have been affected by this new glitch need to close the game and reopen it, which should reset the 3D model issue.

For those that don’t know, Shiny Pokemon are special variants that are rarer than normal Pokemon.

The only difference between them and normal varieties is that they have a different colour scheme.

These new Shiny Pokemon are available to catch now and will likely stick around until the end of event.

Adventure Week is set to end on June 5, so there’s plenty of time for Shiny hunters to try and catch’em all.

There are plenty of other rewards to be found away from the new Fossil variants that have been found by fans.

This includes Hatching two eggs to earn a Rare Candy reward, as well as being able earn three candies walking around with your chosen Buddy.

One of the other big rewards is unlocking a Raid Battle with Aerodactyl, who has also been reported to appear in a Shiny form.

It should be noted that fans will need to evolve a Kabuto or Omanyte during Adventure Week to have a chance at facing Aerodactyl.

It has a number of weaknesses, and is especially vulnerable against certain Electric and Water-type Pokemon.

Raikou and Kyogre are two of the best Pocket Monsters to use against Aerodactyl, while Zapdos is another solid choice.

Pokemon Go Adventure Week: Niantic reveal special Raid for rock event https://briefnews.eu/pokemon-go-adventure-week-niantic-reveal-special-raid-for-rock-event/ https://briefnews.eu/pokemon-go-adventure-week-niantic-reveal-special-raid-for-rock-event/#respond Thu, 24 May 2018 16:36:35 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/pokemon-go-adventure-week-niantic-reveal-special-raid-for-rock-event/

The Pokemon Go Adventure Week kicks off later today and includes some intriguing new in-game events.

Niantic have decided to pair new Field Research with the usual bonuses seen during a Pokemon celebration.

This means that while Rock-type Pokemon such as Geodude will be appearing more frequently on the map, fans can also unlock other map rewards.

This includes completing new Field Research tasks, which will eventually lead to a new Raid event against Aerodactyl.

The Pokemon Go Adventure Week begins at 9pm, BST, today, and won’t end until early next month.

Niantic are also providing new bonuses that players can grab without having to embark on the new Field Research, including higher XP rewards, as well as better Candy rates for buddy Pokemon.

“Throughout the celebration, Rock-type Pokémon such as Geodude, Lileep, and Nosepass will appear more frequently in the wild,” a message from Niantic explains.

“There are also incentives to trek around: your Buddy Pokémon will earn Candy 4× faster throughout the event!

“Plus, you’ll receive extra XP for spinning the Photo Discs at PokéStops or Gyms—up to 10 times the usual amount if this is your first time encountering a unique PokéStop or Gym!

“Fortune favors the bold, Trainers, so join this adventure before it ends on June 5. Get up and GO!”

And having announced the new event today, Pokemon Go players are discussing just what Pocket Monsters will be worth focusing on over the next week.

“This would be a great time to switch Lunatone and Solrock,” one fan pointed out on Reddit.

“Or give them the Plusle/Minun treatment, even just for the duration of the event,” another replied.

“That would be even better! I only have 2 Lunatones, I would be happy to capture some more, apart from Solrock!”

“Same thoughts here. I only have one Lunatone so far and even that’s mostly due to the updated tracker. I rarely play at night, though.”

This will overlap with other changes Niantic are making to Field Research Quests next month.

From 9pm BST on June 1, Field Research Quests will shift the focus to Water-type Pokemon such as Seel, Kingler and Horsea.

Best of all, earning enough stamps for a Research Breakthrough unlocks an encounter with the Legendary Articuno.

“Get ready for more Field Research tasks and exciting rewards in June! On June 1 at 1pm PDT, a brand-new set of Field Research tasks focusing on Water-type Pokemon will become available,” reads a Niantic post.

“These tasks will particularly highlight Water-type Pokemon such as Seel, Kingler and Horsea.

“If you’re able to earn enough stamps for your Research Breakthrough, you’ll have the opportunity to catch the Legendary Ice-and-Flyting-type Pokemon Articuno!”

The only downside is that Trainers only have a week to try and capture current Field Research Legendary Zapdos.

Niantic is building AR maps with help from ‘Pokémon Go’ players https://briefnews.eu/niantic-is-building-ar-maps-with-help-from-pokemon-go-players/ https://briefnews.eu/niantic-is-building-ar-maps-with-help-from-pokemon-go-players/#respond Wed, 09 May 2018 17:38:22 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/niantic-is-building-ar-maps-with-help-from-pokemon-go-players/

Niantic may have split from Google years ago, but there’s a little bit of Google culture left — namely, the Maps part. The developer told Reuters that it’s planning to create 3D augmented reality maps with the help of Pokémon Go players’ cameras. Gamers would help map public spaces (such as parks and plazas) so that the AR experience could extend to the entire environment, not just characters. And crucially, these wouldn’t be limited to Niantic’s own games — the company hopes to offer these AR maps to third-party developers.

The strategy is relatively new in the AR world, where you’re more likely to see companies scanning environments with dedicated equipment. Google only just previewed an augmented reality navigation feature). However, Niantic would be following a familiar strategy of turning a game’s location info into a business model — Foursquare, for example, provides its business check-in data to third parties.

The company didn’t say when the mapping would start, or whether it would include info from the upcoming Harry Potter AR game. Any use of the technology may depend on Niantic assuring users that it won’t collect private info, though. While it’d be relatively easy to anonymize data collection, there are bound to be people worried that they’ll inadvertently create public AR maps of their homes.

Pokemon Go news: Latias and Latios region update following big Niantic Fest 2018 reveal https://briefnews.eu/pokemon-go-news-latias-and-latios-region-update-following-big-niantic-fest-2018-reveal/ https://briefnews.eu/pokemon-go-news-latias-and-latios-region-update-following-big-niantic-fest-2018-reveal/#respond Wed, 09 May 2018 04:22:10 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/pokemon-go-news-latias-and-latios-region-update-following-big-niantic-fest-2018-reveal/

Pokemon Go players have a short window to add a new Pokemon to their collection.

It has now been revealed that the Legendary pair of Latias and Latios have switched regions.

This means that from today until June 5, Latios is available to catch in Europe and Asia, while Latias has switched to North America, South America, and Africa.

Nothing else has changed when it comes to catching the new Pokemon on offer though.

Trainers will still need to face off against the Legendary Dragon/Psychic-types at their local Gym as part of a Raid Battle.

Another Legendary is also available to catch this week, with Zapdos Field Research currently available to complete.

Any Trainer able to earn enough stamps for a Research Breakthrough, will have the opportunity to catch the Legendary Electric- and Flying-type Pokémon originally discovered in the Kanto region.

And these new changes to the game weren’t the only good news for fans hoping to expand their collection of Pocket Monsters this summer.

Niantic have also announced a new range of events being worked on, which includes the returning Pokemon Go Fest in Chicago.

Niantic has announced details of the Pokemon Go Summer 2018 Tour, which takes place in the US and Europe.

Pokemon Go Fest will take place in Chicago’s Lincoln Park on July 14 and July 15.

“Pokemon GO Fest 2018: A Walk in the Park will offer a unique, immersive play experience unseen anywhere else that will create a daylong adventure for Trainers,” a Niantic post reads.

“The event will be held in the city’s historic Lincoln Park, with a 1.8-mile walking course that, among the tree-lined greenery, will include exclusive activities for Trainers of all ages.”

Fans can pick up single day passes on May 11 for just $ 20. The event website will also include accommodation packages.

Niantic has also announced plans to hold a Safari Zone event in Dortmund, Germany.

“Together with the city of Dortmund, we will host an event from June 30 to July 1 in beautiful Westfalenpark,” Niantic explains.

“Westfalenpark is not only one of the largest inner-city parks in Europe but also includes elaborate water features, a Japanese garden, and large playgrounds for kids and families.

“Enjoy the fresh air and beautiful view while catching many types of Pokemon!

“Activities will expand to Dortmund’s entire city district, inviting players from all over Europe to explore the city’s cultural history through Pokemon Go.”
