Michael Cohen, former President Donald Trump's one-time lawyer and personal fixer, is selling t-shirts to celebrate his former boss' legal troubles.

Cohen advertised the t-shirts in a post on Twitter, taking a dig at Trump.

"BREAKING: I am excited to announce my new Mar-a-Lardo clothing line during Milan Fashion Week as we celebrate the fall of the Mango Mussolini," Cohen wrote. "Yes, it's real, and you can get yours today."

The t-shirts, which go for $ 30 each, are being sold on the Meidas Touch store, an online shop run by a liberal super-PAC. The shirt itself depicts what appears to be Trump in handcuffs and wearing an orange prison jumpsuit with the words "Mar-a-Lago Correctional Facility" on its back.

Cohen and a representative at Trump's post-presidential press office did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Insider.

Cohen is known for having worked for Trump and acting as his fixer and confidante for a decade.

In 2018, Cohen pleaded guilty to felonies, including tax evasion, campaign finance violations, and bank fraud. He was sentenced in December that year to three years in prison and was disbarred in February 2019 by the New York Supreme Court.

Since his release in 2021, Cohen has been an outspoken Trump critic. Most recently, Cohen was jubilant about the former president's Mar-a-Lago residence being raided by the FBI in August.

He's also speculated about the identity of a possible FBI informant in Trump's camp and said he thought Trump was likely keeping classified documents at Mar-a-Lago as a "bargaining chip" to avoid jail time.

This week, Cohen mocked Trump's baseless claim that he could telepathically declassify top-secret documents.

"First he goes after the FBI, then he turns, and he wants to use the Jedi mind trick 'declassify we do!' I mean, this guy is out of his mind," Cohen quipped. "He's really, truly lost it."

Last month, Cohen also took credit for former Trump Organization chief financial officer Allen Weisselberg pleading guilty to tax fraud, saying that he had provided key evidence in the case.

Last week, New York Attorney General Letitia James also gave Cohen a shoutout while announcing her office's $ 250 million civil lawsuit against Trump and his adult children.

Cohen said he believed the ensuing New York probe would "ultimately terminate" the Trump Organization and that one or two of Trump's children might have to "fall on the sword" for their father.

Elena Mastropasqua, the 40-something owner of Eremo — the Italian word for hermitage — and her girlfriend smile and wait for the groaning translator to translate my question. He does so with an apologetic shrug. It’s not like there are many countries where fascism makes for an effective punchline, and especially not in Italy, a country whose past was scarred by it and whose present sees it flirting with some of those same elements as leader of the far-right Lega party, and interior minister, Matteo Salvini just turned away a ship carrying more than 600 immigrants.

Mastropasqua doesn’t bite, but instead spills. All about how her grandfather Onofrio, a history and philosophy professor in Rome, was on a walkabout around the ancient city, contemplating the nature of fascism, amid a country in the grips of Mussolini madness. In the end he’d grown so sick of fascism that he headed south, to Bari, and then to Molfetta, a sleepy seaside town right on the Adriatic coast. One day Onofrio stopped on the roadside to watch a farmer curse God for having made the beachfront soil essentially untillable.

You can drink, dance and party, and then walk, or swim, back to the hotel.

“Nothing grows here,” he purportedly told Onofrio, who, in a rush of instinct, offered to buy the land and free the farmer from his fruitless attempts. Onofrio wouldn’t even try to farm on it, but Bari was sufficiently far enough from Rome that he could avoid fascist toxicity. Years later, after enduring Mussolini’s rise, celebrating his fall, building a house, renting the house out in 1971 and, in what was largely felt by the family to be a colossal mistake, selling a portion of the land to a hotel, the Mastropasquas turned what they were now calling Eremo into the best beachside club in Bari.

Mastropasqua’s father, who deeply regretted selling the plot next to theirs, died at 95 but lived long enough to see his daughter open the club in 2009 in what he told her was the single best act of revenge he could have ever imagined.

Revenge?

“Revenge against the past,” Mastropasqua says earnestly, as she walks me around the property. Kitted out with glowing white globes as big as oversize Pilates balls lighting the spaces between wooden chaise lounges and molded plastic pop art chairs, the grounds look like they’re out of a postmodern Fellini-esque take on the future. The DJs outside play while people dance, drink and talk. There are two DJs inside, one working a bar, the other a large space for live shows. A pop-up record store runs along the front.

“This is one of the best clubs in all of Italy,” says musician Xabier Iriondo. The guitarist, whose band Afterhours is an Italian version of U2, cites attention to detail, locale and a concert curation that covers all the bases of cool. Eremo also has gay-themed nights and a kitchen not just to die for but also to kill for. You can have a night out for an amount of money that makes staying at one of the nearby hotels totally possible. Which means you can drink, dance and party, and then walk, or swim, back to the hotel.

The city council has countered all of Mastropasqua’s plans to build out, while local hotels expand and eye the plot jealously. A French tourist famously described Eremo as “a reality show” when complaining online about confusing crowd control. But Eremo endures.

“This is my home,” says Mastropasqua. “We all expect and want everyone to have a good time.” Which, as the DJ starts playing Iggy Pop’s “Lust for Life,” is not just good enough. At 3 in the morning, it’s great.

Lichtman told RT he believes the House may impeach Trump, even on the basis of information available at the moment, and should launch an impeachment inquiry immediately.

“It is urgent that the US House of Representatives, which has sole responsibility for impeachment, launch an impeachment investigation. Now we do have a special counsel investigation, but a special counsel is not an impeachment investigator. During Watergate, you had a special prosecutor investigation, you had a special Senate committee investigation and you had an impeachment investigation, or inquiry by the US House judiciary committee. That’s what lacking right now. And there are certainly a plenty of things to investigate.”

Impeachment is not a legal process, Lichtman explained, adding that the impeachment proceeds from the misconduct of public men, or in other words from the abuse or violation of some public trust.

Lichtman said that based just on what is publicly known, “there’s certainly a very strong case for alleged obstruction of justice – I would say at least as strong as the case for obstruction of justice against Bill Clinton for which almost every Republican in the House voted an article of impeachment and of course Trump’s alleged obstruction is on a much more serious matter.”

“I was very surprised by the blatant obstruction of justice. I did not expect an American president to ask for personal loyalty from an FBI head or to ask an FBI head to quash an investigation, and then to fire the head of the FBI and then just admit it openly, that he was firing [him] because he was worried about the Russian investigation,” the analyst said.

In his book, Lichtman dedicated a special section to the steps – eight of them – that in his opinion Trump should take to avoid impeachment.

“If he follows the advice in that chapter – things like respecting the separation of powers and the checks and balances, and cutting the Mussolini-[like] dictatorial acts, truly divesting himself from all his holdings, then it might be possible, but I don’t see the president moving in that direction,” he said.

The only thing that Trump seems to have followed from the suggested list to date is firing chief strategist Steve Bannon, Lichtman added.

Asked about the timing for the possible launch of impeachment procedure, Lichtman said the “truth is that the wheels of American government are moving slowly,” referring to the Watergate scandal that started in 1972, but the House judiciary committee voted articles of impeachment that led to President Nixon’s resignation only two years later.

“As we approach the election of 2018, when every member of the US House is up for re-election, if they feel that Donald Trump is a drag on their political prospects – and that of course is what’s most important to them – you might get enough defection of Republicans, you need about two dozen, about 10% of Republicans in the House to join with Democrats for majority vote on an impeachment inquiry,” he said.

“And of course – it’s still a long shot, but not impossible that Democrats retake the House, then I think we might see a very quick proceeding to an impeachment inquiry when the new House convenes at the beginning of 2019.”
