The Voice judge Olly Murs has emerged as one of the most popular guesses among ITV viewers for The Masked Singer’s Robin in recent weeks thanks to the disguised act’s show-stopping performances. Renowned for his singing vocals and charismatic stage presence, Olly appears to fit the bill – something Heart radio host Mark Wright was keen to put to the singer on his show today. However, instead of getting an answer, Olly hung up the phone to avoid any further grilling on the subject, sending the rumour mill into meltdown.

So far on The Masked Singer, guesses for Robin from the judging panel have ranged from boxer Amir Khan to EastEnders’ Dean Gaffney to chart-topper Bruno Mars.

However, it’s former X Factor finalist Olly who seems to be one of the most popular possible culprits performing under Robin’s disguise with fans.

And despite initially denying the rumours to pal and former TOWIE star Mark on his radio show on Thursday, the host was left convinced he’d caught him out by getting him to perform a rendition of Justin Timberlake’s Can’t Stop the Feeling – the same song Robin performed on Saturday.

The debate began as Mark grilled Olly: “So listen, I’m gonna have this out with you Olls, right. The Masked Singer, you know The Masked Singer, don’t you?”

Olly confirmed he did, adding: “It’s on before The Voice, it’s the support act for the main show.”

The pair shared a laugh before Mark admitted he too has had numerous tweets from fans asking if it’s him behind the Robin mask.

However, the Heart radio host had a theory of his own that it was instead Olly performing.

“You are favourite [with the bookmakers] to be the Robin,” Mark informed his pal. “And there’s a reason that makes sense because people say me and you sound like each other.”

However, a few moments later, Mark then played a clip from Robin’s performance of the same song to compare the two vocals.

Adamant he could hear similarities between Olly and Robin, Mark asked The Voice judge to perform the hit one more time.

Olly, however, had other ideas as he replied: “Mate, I’ve got to go, sorry.”

Listeners heard Olly put the phone after coming under the microscope by Mark, as the Heart host joked: “We’ve stitched him!”

“I think we’ve got him,” Mark excitedly said to his listeners – but is Olly really the one under Robin’s mask?

A number of fans seem to think so as several replied to Heart’s official Twitter account applauding Mark’s detective skills.

“Oh, Mark what have you done? [cry laughing emoji],” one fan replied, with a second adding: “Well played mate [wink emoji].”

Fans will have to wait until Robin is unmasked on the ITV show to find out for sure.

It looks as though Olly and his act Lauren Bannon could be set for disappointment tonight as The Voice draws to a close.

Bookmakers Paddy Power have revealed the odds for which coach will win this evening and it isn’t looking good for Olly.

The hitmaker is at the bottom of the pile with odds of just 15/1 that he will have the winning act.

Meanwhile, will.i.am is the odds on winner at 8/15, while Jennifer Hudson sits at 4/1 and Tom Jones holds odds of 17/10.

A spokesperson for the bookmakers said: “Olly! You’re seriously letting the ex-singing-talent-show folks down here, mate.

“You would’ve thought that Murs was a banker to find you a star on the Voice UK. But if the money is anything to go by, it’s will.i.am who’s onto a winner.”

Lauren will battle it out against Belle Voci, Donel Mangena and Ruti Olajugbagbe in tonight’s finale, as well as duetting with Olly.

It was recently rumoured Olly was being lined up to join The X Factor judging panel.

However, the 33-year-old has spoken out and said The Voice UK is his new home and wants to renew his contract for another series.

Speaking exclusively to Express.co.uk about being poached by The X Factor, Olly said: “I don’t know about that, but listen, I’m 100 per cent part of The Voice family.

“This is where I am right now. I love it here, so I don’t want to move.”

The newest coach to be added to the line-up, Olly’s seat has been a revolving door of celebrity judges over the years.

He said: “I had the dreaded end seat that nobody wanted! It’s been nice. I hope I’ve made it my own.

“I think I’ve kind of moved in, so there’s going to be a struggle if they try and get rid of me because I’m loving it too much.”

Olly revealed that he is already “in talks” for another series, and has said “yes” when asked by show bosses.

He continued: “Yeah, there’s been some good talks. ITV have sort of said they want me back. I’ve spoken to them and said, ‘Yeah’.

“So we’ll have to sit down when the show’s finished, but I just want to enjoy the final this week and wait until afterwards.

“I know personally for myself, as Lauren has, we both feel like we’ve done the best possible thing this year on the show.

“What will be will be afterwards.”

Fans of Olly and The X Factor will remember that he lost out on the top spot to Joe McElderry in 2009.

Advising his contestant that it’s not all about winning, Olly explained: “Listen, you don’t always need to win. I mean, it would be great for Lauren to win because you get a record deal for winning. There was always that little bit of doubt in my mind when I finished the show as runner-up that I wasn’t going to get the record deal that I thought I was going to get.

“Luckily about a month or so later I got a knock on the door saying, ‘We’ve got a contract for you’. I feel for Lauren, there’s no doubt she’s going to get signed. I’d be shocked and amazed if that didn’t happen because literally every week, me and the other coaches are standing on our feet clapping this girl off stage, saying, ‘Wow, that was amazing’.

“I think Lauren’s just got to knuckle down. It’s not easy. The industry isn’t easy. She knows that. She’s been around long enough to know that as well with the knock-backs she’s had. It’s about really coming off this show, using the amazing platform, doing her song writing, but also trusting the people around her at the label she might get or the management.”

He added: “They may have a song that comes out of somewhere and say, ‘This could be your first single’. There’s all these decisions she needs to make, but right now it’s about the final this week and just getting over that hurdle first. There’s going to be many hurdles that Lauren’s going to have to get through in her career. This is the first of many I hope.”

Olly also stressed that Lauren should “live in the moment and enjoy” the final, as it’s not an opportunity that you get to take part in every day.

The coach said: “For me, tips I’ve been given is to perform… and perform like you first did when you came out to audition. I want Lauren to come out and perform like she did when she performed Lean On Me by Major Lazer when I had no idea who she was.

“I think if she can find that inner… she has it anyway… just that little bit extra five or 10 per cent, just give it everything, leave it out on the stage and don’t think about what might happen at the end of it. Don’t think about what’s happened before. Just live in that moment right there and then when you’re singing that big note and you’re singing it to everyone at home. That’s the best advice I can give. Also, enjoy The Voice final, it’s amazing. I’m loving it.”

Lauren added: “It’s been really fab. I’ve gained a great fanbase. It really helps that Olly is so good at tagging me in tweets and re-tweeting things that I’ve done. I’ve built that up quite a bit which is a great bonus.

“I’m a songwriter producer as well so I’ve got stuff ready. I just want to get out there and perform. For me, performing is my favourite thing to do. I’d like to get out there and perform at some festivals and gigs and get my music out there to these lovely new fans that I’ve gained.”

Olly became frustrated after he was unable to turn around for a contestant during a pivotal moment on the ITV singing competition.

The singer nearly missed out on an act when his spinning chair suddenly broke down as he pressed his buzzer.

Flaring his arms around in disbelief, the hitmaker shouted: “I pressed it! I pressed it!” As fellow judges Will.i.am and Sir Tom Jones successful turned around for the contestant.

In the teaser clip for this week’s The Voice UK, singing sensation Jennifer Hudson can be seen pulling faces while the 33-year-old musician stressed over his button.

During the incident, Will.i.am was shown laughing at Olly as he struggled to come to terms with what just happened.

Speaking to the judges, the music producer joked: “Did you see how I hacked on Olly’s chair?”

However, the malfunction with Olly’s chair had nothing to do with sabotage, in fact, it was the result of a fault in the mechanism which enables the chair to turn around.

A source told Radio Times: “It was a fault with the motor mechanism in the chair. Olly did press his button within the time.”

The pop star’s chair was eventually turned around to allow him to see the singer that he had pressed his button for.

ITV also released two more clips of singers battling it out to win a place in the competition.

In one video, a talented act appears to blow Olly away as he can be seen uttering the word “moving” as he listened to the singer.

Will.i.am was close to pressing his buzzer too as he swayed to the music and begged the crowd to decide whether he should push it or not?

In the second clip, the audience appeared to beg the judges to turn around for a female singer belting out the words to Demi Lovato’s Sorry Not Sorry track.

The Voice UK kicked off on January 6 with new comer Olly taking over from rock star Gavin Rosedale, who is the father of British model Daisy Lowe.

Speaking about his new role, he told The Sun: “I’m absolutely buzzing about being a coach on The Voice UK and can’t wait to sit in the big red chair alongside Will, Jennifer and Tom.

“I’m excited to mentor new artists and without doubt, I’m in it to WIN!”

The 36-year-old judge could not believe that hopeful Christopher Preece had decided to sing Prince Ali from Disney’s Aladdin.

Stunning the audience, the 28-year-old audiobook narrator from Norfolk left Jennifer speechless, prompting her to ask: “Is this real?”

As Chris edged closer to finishing his rendition, Olly Murs couldn’t resist and pressed his buzzer.

Asked why he chose that particular song, Chris explained: “I do a lot of songs so I was like, ‘Could do something rock, could do something country,’ and then I was just like, ‘Oh yeah!’

“Honestly it really was. I just wanted to let the crowd have a good time and do a song that people love.”

He added: “Because that’s what I do!”

Hearing Chris explain why he chose the song, Jennifer gasped: “That was brave!

“You kind of took me back to when I worked on a cruise ship and broadway and everything else.

“I’m like, ‘wow’. I think it was brave that you did that, so job well done.”

Chris later took to social media to explain all of his audition day decisions.

He tweeted: “#thevoiceuk I wanted to do something fun! I think I managed that.

“#thevoiceuk I was so happy that @ollyofficial turned for me! I was already getting ready to leave the stage when he turned and I was just on an adrenaline high! #TeamOlly.

“I actually watched Aladdin the night before my audition! #thevoiceuk.”

He added: “I was nervous about the song choice but I just wanted to give people something they could enjoy.”

Sir Tom Jones revealed that he didn’t turn around due to not knowing how to work with his style of music.

However, Chris told how he can sing a range of tunes from different genres, leaving his new mentor Olly the envy of his rival judges.

But things didn’t get off to the best start for the former X Factor singer as a number of hopeful’s overlooked him and chose to join the teams of his fellow judges. 

When carpenter Jake took to the stage Olly was impressed with his vocals and decided to turn his red chair in a bid to convince the youngster to join his team. 

But Jennifer Hudson also wanted him to join her team and took a swipe at her fellow judge as she tried to win over the hopeful. 

Olly commented: “All I’m going to say is I’ve been on this journey before and was the same age as you 26, 25, and I think my experience in the past can help you succeed.”

But his attempt to impress Jake fell short as Jennifer hit back: “I won an Oscar at 25! After doing a show like this at 22. And, I have a son as well so I understand.”

Olly, 33, clearly knew he didn’t stand a chance after the 36-year-old’s pitch and could be seen looking off camera. 

When Jake chose to join Team Jennifer, Olly was spotted muttering his devastation under his breath  before congratulating the pair.

The 33-year-old former X Factor contestant starts his journey as a coach this evening, but it seems he is feeling slightly daunted by the task. 

Speaking to Express.co.uk at The Voice UK launch earlier this week, Olly admitted that he was nervous to take on the challenge as he didn’t know where he would “fit in”. 

He explained: “In my head, it was trying to figure out where I fitted in because I know they’ve had some big artists like Gavin before, and I was thinking, ‘How do I fit in and who am I going to pick?’”

Olly went on to explain that he didn’t go for the soul singers or the “big voices” as they were likely to be snapped up by fellow coaches Jennifer Hudson and Sir Tom Jones.

He explained that his team’s unwillingness to call or email him – despite giving them his contact details and urging them to get in touch – is the reason the show hasn’t produced a global star. 

Discussing the rest of the show’s previous coaches, will.i.am, 42, gave his honest opinion, starting: “I love Danny [O’Donaghue] and The Script is awesome. 

“Ricky [Wilson] – I loved the showman that Ricky was and I miss him. Gavin was polite.”

The Let’s Get It Started hitmaker added that he enjoyed the mix of the girls the show has seen over the years. 

However, it seems that Will is pretty set on this year’s panel, which is completed by Jennifer Hudson and Tom Jones.

He said: “You have Jennifer… Hey, this is what it looks like to lose – ‘I won a BAFTA, an Emmy, Grammys, I sung on freaking plays and s**t, an Oscar’ – that’s what a loser looks like.

“[She’s] the biggest star with an awesome career and we were missing that for boys – and now Olly is like, ‘I used to be a contestant too!’”

The Voice UK returns to this Saturday at 8pm.
