Patients, home care providers and medical experts who spoke with White Coat, Black Art all agree that a rethink to home care is needed in Canada. Denmark and The Netherlands could provide a possible model for care at home with more help and less red tape, experts say.

1. The eruption buried Pompeii and Herculaneum beneath mud, lava and ash until they were rediscovered and excavated in the 18th century.
2. Author Pliny the Younger wrote a graphic account of the eruption, which killed his uncle.
3. Such explosive eruptions, sending molten rock 15 to 20 miles high are known as Plinian.
4. Vesuvius has erupted more than 30 times since AD 79 but the richness of the soil after an eruption always led to new settlements around its base.
5. The eruption in 512 was so severe that people living on its slopes were granted tax exemption
6. An eruption of Vesuvius in 1906 ended plans for Italy to hold the Olympics in 1908. They moved to London. The most recent eruption was in 1944.
7. The AD 79 eruption released 100,000 times the energy of the bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
8. Vesuvius is the only volcano on the European mainland to have erupted in the last century.
9. Although the date of the eruption has long been thought to be August 24, there is much evidence that it may actually have been September 24.
10. In 1995, the entire mountain of Vesuvius was declared an Italian National Park.

The trial against two women charged with the murder of the estranged half-brother of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un is set to continue.
A court ruled Thursday there was enough evidence presented by prosecution to mount a case.
The women have been asked to enter their defense. They face death penalty on charges.
KUALA LUMPUR (Reuters) – The trial of two women charged with the murder of the estranged half-brother of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un will continue, a Malaysian judge ruled on Thursday, adding that the evidence was insufficient to prove it was a political assassination.

Two men from Rome were arrested by Merseyside Police on suspicion of attempted murder after a man was left with serious injuries following an incident ahead of Liverpool’s 5-2 win over Roma at Anfield.
Police said in a statement that a 53-year-old man from Ireland had suffered a head injury and was in a critical condition in hospital.
And it led to a backlash from football supporters who have called on Roma to be expelled from the competition before the second leg.
One wrote: “Roma should be kicked out of champions league and banned for a few years scummy fans they have.”
Another tweeted: “Disgraceful and unacceptable behaviour, Roma should be kicked out of the competition now as a punishment to these idiot fans.”
“Roma should be ashamed and kicked out of the champions league they only have their fans to blame!!!” added another.
UEFA have form for banning clubs from their top competition.
Only this week, Greece’s oldest football club Panathinaikos were banned for three seasons for failing to pay their debts.
UEFA today moved to condemn the attack and released a statement where they pledged to “deciding on potential disciplinary charges” imminently.
A UEFA statement read: “UEFA is deeply shocked by the vile attack that occurred ahead of the Liverpool FC v AS Roma match and our thoughts are with the victim and his family.
“The perpetrators of this ignominious attack have no place in and around football and we trust they will be dealt with utmost severity by the authorities.
“UEFA is waiting to receive full reports before deciding on potential disciplinary charges.”
Liverpool, who won the match 5-2, said they had been in touch with the emergency services and would offer any support they could to the fan and his family.
“Liverpool Football Club is shocked and appalled after a Liverpool supporter was left in a critical condition having been attacked prior to the Champions League fixture against AS Roma,” the club said on their website.
“Our thoughts, in the first instance, are with the victim and his family at this very traumatic time.”
Television images from the BBC showed groups of youths fighting outside the stadium before the game, with one person seen lying in the street receiving attention while fighting continued. One male was filmed carrying a hammer.
There were also violent scenes before Liverpool’s Champions League quarter-final game against Manchester City at Anfield earlier this month, when the home supporters attacked the visiting team’s bus with bottles, cans and flares which resulted in the Merseyside club being charged by UEFA.
The police added: “We believe the victim was in Liverpool with his brother for the Liverpool v Roma semi-final and was assaulted during an altercation between Roma and Liverpool fans near to the Albert pub at about 7.35pm.
“Witnesses report that the victim was hit with a belt and then fell to the ground.”

Nate Parker has signed on to direct a police drama about a real-life hero LAPD detective.
This is his follow-up to his directorial debut, “The Birth of a Nation,” which after winning the grand prize at the 2016 Sundance Film Festival was derailed when a 1999 rape trail against the actor-director resurfaced.
Now the actor-director is attempting a comeback. It was announced on Friday that Parker has signed on to direct the police drama, “Black & Blue,” according to Deadline.See the rest of the story at Business Insider

GT supercars stretch out for almost as far as the eye can see. An array of exotic European muscle kitted out with big wings, big tyres and big-name drivers.
And big dollars.
This year’s 53-car entry represents around $ 22 million of the most beautiful, sweet-sounding, and mechanically diverse racing machines ever to grace Mount Panorama.
Class A — the Pro, Pro-Am and Am outright divisions — is where the biggest money is at, with all the top machines unlikely to give you much change from $ 600,000.
The sleek McLaren 650 GT3s are back to avenge last year’s dour run and chase a repeat of 2016’s victory, their charge led by Supercars stars Shane van Gisbergen, Craig Lowndes, Scott McLaughlin and Tim Slade across a trio of McElrea Racing-run entries.
Then there’s Porsche, who has never triumphed in a big enduro at Bathurst but finished the bridesmaid twice in mid-nineties runnings of the 12 Hour as well as last year.
After dipping their toe in the water of the outright class last year, they’ve brought their big guns for 2018.
The factory has sent its crack Manthey Racing squad among a four-car attack, along with a host of their elite pilots, including Australia’s own factory junior driver Matt Campbell and Le Mans 24 Hours winner Earl Bamber.
“For a while there, it was this ‘far away race’,” Bamber explained.
“But after coming here last year the Manthey Racing guys have seen what race it is and it’s really clear it’s something we need to tick the box.”
Porsche’s German rivals are also chasing redemption of their own.
BMW left empty-handed from their return to Bathurst at last year’s 12 Hour, but for one of the privately-entered M6 GT3s making it onto the front row.
It was a drive that earnt Bathurst 1000-winner Chaz Mostert a call-up to race for the factory in Asia. This year he returns to the 12 Hour with the legendary Schnitzer team alongside two of the Munich marques favoured sons, two-time DTM champ Marco Wittmann and Augusto Farfus.
Mercedes has reigning Supercars champ Jamie Whincup and Bathurst 1000 winner David Reynolds among a five-car line-up, two of which hail from British squad Strakka Racing.
Audi has arrived with its now-traditional armada, a total of eight R8 LMS entries across Class A. Local heroes Garth Tander, Will Davison and Lee Holdsworth join former F1 prospects Robin Frijns, Markus Winkelhock and Pedro Lamy in a stacked driving roster.
And let’s not forget Bentley.
Yes, Bentley. A few years ago they took their Continental, ripped out 1000kg-worth of its luxurious features and took it racing.
This year’s 12 Hour represents the car’s last race before a new model comes on stream, the British M-Sport squad hoping to send it out a winner after near-misses in each of the past three events.
Though wildly different machines, the rules balance each vehicle to ensure even performance across the entire lap. Where some are bullets down the straights, others are lightning-fast across the top, while the rest are excellent all-rounders.
The action gets underway with four practice sessions on Friday ahead of qualifying and racing over the weekend.

Since news broke that Apple deliberately slows down the processor speed of iPhones as they age, the company has now been sued three times in various federal courts nationwide.
These proposed class-action lawsuits allege largely the same thing: that over time certain iPhones exhibited lower performance and that Apple fraudulently concealed this fact from owners. If those customers went to an Apple Store to investigate, they were encouraged to simply buy a new iPhone.
“Had Plaintiffs been informed by Apple or its technical/customer service support staff that a battery replacement would have improved the performance of the above devices, they would have opted to replace the batteries instead of purchasing new phones,” one of the lawsuits, Abdulla et al v. Apple, which was filed Thursday in federal court in Chicago, alleges.

Bali volcano latest: Tourists were stranded when the airport was closed for several days in November
The National Agency for Disaster Management (BNPB) spokesman Sutopo Purwo Nugroho said that the danger zone is only within a radius of 8-10 km from the summit of Mount Agung.
In a Twitter post earlier today, he tried to dispel the misconception that the volcano covers almost the whole island instead of just one part in the corner.
In a bid to reassure tourists, he said that the rest of Bali is safe and the airport is operating normally. The tweet ended with #ComeOnToBali.
At the end of last month, thousands of tourists were stranded due to flight cancellations and the closure of airports on Bali and the neighbouring island of Lombok.

This month the volcano has been intermittently erupting and sending up plumes of steam and ash, but on a much smaller scale than before.
Mount Agung is still being rocked by seismic activity and it is not known if there will be a major eruption or not. More than 70,000 people have been evacuated from the danger one.
The Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) advises against all travel to within 10-kilometres of Mount Agung due to “ongoing volcanic activity”.
Travel expert Frank Brehany said: “The indications from the Bali government, in particular from the Indonesian Government’s BMKG Climate Agency, suggests that air traffic will not be affected for the remainder of 2017, as the winds are blowing ash in a easterly direction.

“The government appears to be keen to advise potential holidaymakers that they should not change their travel plans, because other than the 10km exclusion-zone, life on the island is continuing as normal.
“The UK’s FCO mirrors some of this information by advising holidaymakers of that zone and how important it is to keep informed of events on the ground.”
Mr Brehany said that travellers should monitor the latest news and FCO advisories for Bali and raise their concerns with their travel insurer and travel company or airline.
He said that that holidaymakers should seek reassurance or discuss potential changes to their schedule as well making sure their insurance cover remains in place.

He added: “In the event that the situation changes on the ground, speak immediately with your insurer who should help your navigate the difficulties ahead; for the present, there are no advisories against travel to Bali.
“If you are on the ground, pay heed to the exclusion zone, and accept the directions of the local authorities, if it is your intention to sight-see Mount Agung.”
The ABTA travel association said: “We continue to monitor the activity of volcano Mount Agung on the island of Bali.
“The Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO) has updated its travel advice and now advises against all travel to within 10kms of Mount Agung in East Bali due to ongoing volcanic activity.
“The state of alert remains at the highest level.
“The area around Mount Agung is mostly covered by an existing exclusion zone put into place by the local authorities, which extends between 8 and 10kms from the crater. Anyone in this area should leave immediately.
“ABTA advises that people on holiday elsewhere in East Bali should continue to follow the advice of local authorities, monitor local media and keep up-to-date with travel advice.”
The travel association said that anyone due to travel to the region imminently should check with their travel provider or airline to establish if their holiday or flight is affected.
The FCO website advises against all travel to within 10-kilometres of Mount Agung, which is mostly covered by an existing exclusion zone put in place by the local authorities.
It added: “If you’re in this area, you should leave immediately. Following several months of increased volcanic activity, Mount Agung in East Bali began erupting on 21 November 2017.

Bali volcano Mount Agung has caused chaos across Indonesia, but things look to be settling down with flights resumed last night for all major airlines.
However, despite ash and smoke emissions slowing down, experts are warning an “imminent eruption” is still a big threat to areas surrounding Mount Agung.
But for now, travellers – many of whom have been stuck waiting to catch a flight for several days – should now be able to get home.
JetStar, AirAsia, and Virgin Australia have all confirmed via Twitter and their websites flights have resumed.
In a statement on their website, JetStar wrote: “The rest of the week’s scheduled services between Bali and Australia will now operate as normal, with flying conditions around Denpasar Airport expected to remain clear.
“If you are on a scheduled flight, before heading to the airport please check the status of your flight from the Flight status page on Jetstar.com or via our smartphone app.
“We will continue to closely monitor the Mount Agung volcano and provide regular updates if the situation changes.”
Virgin Australia tweeted yesterday: “BALI UPDATE: Our team of safety experts have deemed it safe to continue operations so we plan to operate today’s scheduled services from Bali.
“If conditions remain favourable we also aim to resume normal operations between Australia and Bali from tomorrow.”
AirAsia tweeted: “Great news folks! Our flights to/from DPS & LOP starting 04Dec17 are resuming back to normal as Mount Agung stabilises and Ash Clouds clearing up.
“Very few disruptions and cancelled flights as per below update. Thank you.”
AirAsia cancelled one flight yesterday, with no more flights cancelled or delayed today.
However, a volcano expert spoke exclusively to Express.co.uk to predict Mount Agung will most likely erupt again and cause further danger in the surrounding area.
This could lead to airport closures if the ash from the volcano puts aeroplanes flying overhead in danger, he said.
“Although ash emission at Agung has paused, there is still a lot of seismic activity at the volcano suggesting that upward migration of magma and gas is continuing,” commented David Rotary, professor of planetary geosciences at The Open University.
“Further eruptions are likely, and people nearby should stay clear of the approximately 10 km evacuation zone.”
