The Young and the Restless remembered Kristoff St. John on Friday with a video montage, after first noting the longtime cast member’s tragic passing earlier in the week with a title card.

Last night’s 90th Academy Awards was thankfully devoid of any colossal mistakes that rivaled last year’s infamous Moonlight mix-up, but the Academy didn’t wrap up the night completely unscathed. There were a handful of glaring omissions from the “In Memoriam” segment, and we’ll run through a list of names below who should have been honored alongside their fallen peers.
Meanwhile, The Razzies made an “In Memoriam” montage of their own – but instead of featuring people who died, it’s all about men who were accused of sexual misconduct. And speaking of the Razzies, Dwayne Johnson took to social media to graciously accept a trophy on behalf of last year’s high-profile misfire, Baywatch.
Slamming the Oscars for leaving notable, deserving people out of their “In Memoriam” video is a time-honored tradition at this point, and this year is no different. The Academy left out director Tobe Hooper, which seemed especially cruel since they used a clip from Hooper’s acclaimed horror film The Texas Chain Saw Massacre in another montage earlier in the evening. They also left out actress Dorothy Malone, who appeared in the classic film noir The Big Sleep and won a freakin’ Oscar for her work in 1956’s Written on the Wind. For an organization that values itself so highly, it seems particularly egregious to leave out an Oscar winner. Glen Campbell was ignored, too; he famously co-starred in the original True Grit opposite John Wayne, and earned Oscars cred as recently as 2015 with his Best Song nominee “I’m Not Going To Miss You.”
The ceremony also failed to include beloved character actors Powers Boothe, Bill Paxton, and Miguel Ferrer. What a bummer.
Some people are upset that former Batman actor Adam West didn’t get a nod, but as much as I love West, he seems like more of a TV guy than someone who should have been acknowledged at the Oscars. Plenty of other TV-centric actors didn’t make the cut, including Della Reese (Touched by an Angel), Reg E. Cathey (House of Cards), and David Ogden Stiers (MASH).
I normally give no credence whatsoever to The Razzies, the organization that gives out awards to what are supposedly the worst movies of each year. But on the heels of this year’s crop of “winners,” they released an “In Memoriam” video of their own (via The Mary Sue) that calls out prominent men who have been accused of sexual harassment or sexual assault.
In case there was any confusion about where the organization stands on the behavior of these men, the video ends with a slide that reads, “Very sorry but we won’t be missing you – or your kind.” Looks like the Razzies are woke now.
If you follow actor/producer Dwayne Johnson on social media, you’re treated to all sorts of behind the scenes photos and videos from his many movie and TV projects. But even a constant self-promoter like Johnson knows when it’s time to admit defeat, and after last year’s failed movie adaptation of Baywatch earned a Razzie of its own, Johnson went on social media to acknowledge the film didn’t measure up:
It’s the #Oscars and Hollywood’s biggest night!
So let me go ahead and take this “L” right on the chin for Baywatch.
Win some, lose some.. but hey, that’s the way love goes. @RazzieAwards #Baywatch?? #AndTheWinnerLosesOn pic.twitter.com/2ICyzfVHSV— Dwayne Johnson (@TheRock) March 4, 2018
That’s cute and everything, but it’s also kind of annoying when you recall how Johnson was fiercely pitting critics and fans against each other when the movie was panned following its initial release. The failure of big budget movies like Baywatch was one of the summer’s big talking points last year, but it seemed as if Johnson was refusing to acknowledge that his movie simply wasn’t very good. Now that some time has passed, he’s willing to admit it didn’t work? Cool, I guess. We’re all human, and people are obviously free to change their minds. Just don’t expect me to praise your humility when you spent time and effort riling people up and fueling the nonsensical “critics vs. fans” argument a few months ago.

Mrs Doris and Mr Edward Bair were transformed into cuddly teddy bears for last year’s hugely popular and emotional campaign, so it makes sense that they would revisit them.
During the two-minute clip for Britain’s biggest airport, the poignant story follows the married couple from 1967 to the present day over the decades, as they longingly wait for each other in arrivals.
The story begins with Doris bear working as an air hostess for BOAC, as Edward is forced to struggle through many tired flights visiting his wife, before their expanding brood begins to keep the couple in one place.
Capitalising on the magic of Christmas, the company behind the port also throw in a number of Christmases, and each decade features a number of different bear-sized outfits and luggage appropriate for the time.
Ending with a present day family get together, the bears suddenly turn into their real-life human selves, the elderly grandparents from last year’s offering.
Heathrow complete the advert with a caption that reads: “Closer This Christmas.”
The love story touched a nerve with many fans following last year’s depiction of a family reuniting for the period’s festivities, and the latest offering is poised to do the same.
The unusual advert was filmed at Heathrow’s Terminal 1 this year, and British Airways provided the advert-makers with a number of historic items to assist with the details.
A BOAC (British Overseas Airways Corporation) aircraft was provided for a number of scenes, along with air hostess uniforms from the 1960s and 70s.
The advert comes in the wake of department store John Lewis’ hugely popular Christmas advert, starring Moz the Monster and the little boy who makes friends with him.
Following claims that the company had ripped off former laureate Chris Riddell’s children’s picture book, the retailer insists it wasn’t the case.
“Ours is a Christmas story of friendship and fun between Joe and Moz The Monster, in which Joe receives a night light which helps him get a good night’s sleep,” the statement reads. “The main thrust of our story is utterly different to Chris Riddell’s.”
The professional dancer has been on the show since it began 15 years ago and in an emotional montage aired on spin off It Takes Two, he reflected on his experience.
The touching video saw Brendan, 41, recall some of his favourite partners through the years and became nostalgic as he spoke about winning the first ever series with Natasha Kaplinsky.
Talking about the memory, he said: “Making the final with Natasha is a highlight of my career. The elation of winning was spectacular, what a way to start Strictly Come Dancing.”
The New Zealand dancer also discussed his time on the show partnered up with Kelly Brook and said he thought they would have reached the final.
Recalling their incredible American Smooth, Brendan admitted that series was the one that “got away” as Kelly dropped out due to the passing of her father.
Brendan went on to fondly remember some of his other partners including Lisa Snowdon, Victoria Pendleton and Sophie Ellis-Bextor.
At the end of the touching video, he said: “15 series of Srictly Come Dancing, it’s been euphoric, it’s been tough, it is my life and I’m very, very proud to have been a part of every single second of it.”
After the montage aried, many alarmed viewers rushed to Twitter to express their confusion as they believed it was a goodbye message.
One fan wrote: “That sounded like a goodbye to me. We want another 15 years @BrendanCole #ItTakesTwo #Strictly xx.”
“I hope that wasn’t a goodbye @BrendanCole on @bbcstrictly #ItTakesTwo, said an emotional viewer.
A third added: “Oh my gosh how fabulous to reminisce, that was a beautiful VT it sounded like goodbye though #Brendan I hope it’s not #Strictly.”
Strictly Come Dancing airs Saturday on BBC One at 6.45pm and It Takes Two continues Monday on BBC Two at 7pm.
Pop culture lost an icon in early June when Batman television series star Adam West passed away at age 88 after a battle with leukemia. The internet paid endless respect to the man who was the first encounter many fans had with The Caped Crusader. Now another tribute comes from the show that kept Adam West a household name, even for those who may not have known who he was.
Family Guy made Adam West into quite the character on the FOX animated series by creating an exaggerated version of the actor as the mayor of Quahog, the Rhode Island town that the Griffin family calls home. The animated version of West was kooky, not too bright, and always one of the best parts of the show, and the Family Guy crew wanted to pay tribute to the actor with a montage of his best moments from the series.
Watch the Family Guy tribute to Adam West below.
Stay to the very end for a touching farewell to Adam West, even though the animated series isn’t done with the character of Adam West just yet. There are five episodes that will air during the next season of Family Guy that Adam West had already recorded dialogue for before he died. Will one of the episodes give him a proper send-off? And will a new mayor of Quahog be announced?
These are questions to which we don’t know the answer right now, and after West had died, the producers had only just started to discuss how to handle the situation. We might get a new mayor eventually, but I don’t think they’re in a rush to replace him.

With the Black Fairy’s extra-dark curse cast after Emma and Hook said “I do,” Henry woke up in a Storybrooke where Emma had been committed for believing in fairy tales-come-to-life, while Fiona was mayor/his other mom. Regina, Snow, David and Hook meanwhile found themselves in the Charmings’ TEF palace, before hot-footing it to the Evil Queen’s castle to join forces with Regina’s other half. Upon Zelena’s arrival with one of the Mad Hatter’s other hats, they traveled to the hub that joins all the realms, only to realize that Emma’s lack of belief back home was causing all the worlds to crumble.
Anxious to return home to Emma, Hook set out to climb the beanstalk and pinch one of the giant’s magic beans, which he did with David’s help. And while they dodged a dragon, their journey down to the ground was not without incident, as the churning dark curse caused them both to tumble hard, as the stalk crashed. And though they both survived (David, thanks to a pilot-paralleling kiss from Snow), the bean’s magic got sapped by the curse.
With no way out, the Evil Queen volunteered to hold off the curse as long as she could, while the others huddled in the center of the gradually enveloped courtyard. The curse fell short of consuming them, though, as Emma back in Storybrooke agreed to believe Henry’s version of events, after his handmade mini-storybook led her to bail on her bail bondswoman encore.
Fiona meanwhile realized that Rumple, from whom she took away and hid Belle, in fact has been “awake” this whole time. She invited him to ally with her, to live in a world where their power would be unchecked, even by the rules of magic that for so long have kept Baelfire from being resurrected. Rumple doesn’t fall for her come-on, though, and instead grabs her wand to vanquish her, into a pile of dust. The Black Fairy’s handiwork lived on, though, having tasked Gideon with killing the Savior — and no commands directed at his plucked heart can stop him. Emma mulled her options with her returned family and husband — to either sacrifice herself, and thus the light, or to kill Gideon, and in doing so lose her own light.
Emma chose the former, allowing Gideon to slay her on Main Street amid much glowy sparks and what not. And though Emma was felled, True Love’s Kiss from son Henry revived her — as well as restored the incinerated storybook. Gideon meanwhile returned to baby
form, much to a reunited Belle and Rumple’s delight. From here, they now can live on doing what they love, knowing that happy endings exist, Snow observes. “An ending isn’t happiness; being together is.”
Cue a sprawling montage where the Charmings go about living life on a farm/back teaching, the dwarfs gift Regina’s mayoral office with a royal upgrade, Henry returns to that thing called “school” and sheriff Emma deputizes Hook.
We then leap forward some years, where Lucy — a little girl we glimpsed in the finale’s cold open, where she and her dad struggled to safeguard the storybook in the Enchanted Forest — knocks on an apartment door in Seattle. Who answers but her dad aka Henry Mills. Henry claims he doesn’t have a daughter, but Lucy has pressing business for the young man, seeing as his family needs him….
