More details are expected to drop during the Ubisoft Forward event September 10th, but for now we can gleam some tidbits from the announcement image. It shows Basim Ibn Ishaq, a character from the recent Assassin's Creed Valhalla, leaping with his hidden blade in front of the Palace of the Golden Gate in Baghdad (via Polygon).

That lines up with previous leaks around the game's setting, which also indicated that Mirage would be a return to stealth gameplay for the series. The new title was originally intended to be DLC for Valhalla, but Bloomberg reports that it was later transformed into a standalone experience to fill out Ubisoft's release schedule. No matter its conception, it's nice to see the series return to its Middle Eastern roots. Being a super-powered killing machine in Origins and Valhalla is fun and all, but it's far from the methodical and less action-heavy gameplay of the earlier AC games (especially the under-rated Origins).

WATCH: Disgusting moment plane passenger urinates in the middle of the aisle https://briefnews.eu/watch-disgusting-moment-plane-passenger-urinates-in-the-middle-of-the-aisle/ https://briefnews.eu/watch-disgusting-moment-plane-passenger-urinates-in-the-middle-of-the-aisle/#respond Mon, 21 Jan 2019 19:51:57 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/watch-disgusting-moment-plane-passenger-urinates-in-the-middle-of-the-aisle/

Flights will always have at least two toilets available to passengers yet one passenger decided to not bother using either bathroom. A horrifying viral video has captured the man urinating in the middle of the plane. The revolting clip from an unidentified Russian flight shows him standing up in his aisle seat. A pile of tissues is on the floor and the passenger seems to be urinating directly into the rubbish.

Some of the tissues in the aisle appear to have already soaked up a lot of liquid.

The man’s bare bottom is on full display as his underwear is pulled down to around his knees.

He is using his right hand to support himself on the seat on the opposite side of the aisle.

The man can be seen swaying slightly as he relieves himself in this gruesome fashion.

According to Russian media which shared the footage, the man was drunk when the incident occurred.

One comment on the alarming footage read: “Yet another drunk creature on board a plane.

It added: “We can only sympathise with the passengers forced to witness it.”

Plenty of other people can be seen in the clip sitting around the plane yet the ‘drunk’ man shows no concern for their feelings.

The case is reported to be under investigation by authorities.

The footage appeared on Russian media last week but there were no details of which flight it was on or when exactly it was filmed.

Another Russian flight hit the headline last week after a plane passenger who began “attacking” people around him after reportedly drinking from a bottle of whisky was tied up by his fellow passengers to prevent from causing harm mid-flight.

Shocking images from the flight to Russia shows the man, believed to be 26 years old, lying on his front on the aircraft galley floor with his hands behind his back. His hands are hog-tied to his ankles with tape and belts.

According to reports, the passenger had recently been released from prison in Thailand.

After taking off, the cabin crew had struggled to control the man in question and the pilot said he was prepared to make an emergency landing as a result of the violent flyer.

Passengers hogtied him and he remained on the floor for around four hours until the A320 flight reached Novosibirsk, Russia’s third largest city.

His “offensive and threatening behaviour” had started just three hours into the seven-hour 45 minutes flight, according to witnesses.

Trump mulls ex-senator Jim Webb, opponent of Middle East wars, as Mattis replacement – reports https://briefnews.eu/trump-mulls-ex-senator-jim-webb-opponent-of-middle-east-wars-as-mattis-replacement-reports/ https://briefnews.eu/trump-mulls-ex-senator-jim-webb-opponent-of-middle-east-wars-as-mattis-replacement-reports/#respond Fri, 04 Jan 2019 00:16:34 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/trump-mulls-ex-senator-jim-webb-opponent-of-middle-east-wars-as-mattis-replacement-reports/ The Trump administration is reportedly considering Jim Webb, a former Democratic senator opposed to the Iraq war who served as Navy secretary under Reagan, to replace Jim Mattis as Defense Secretary on a permanent basis.

The one-term Virginia senator, an outspoken opponent of the war in Iraq who briefly ran in 2016’s Democratic primary but was overshadowed by better-known and better-financed candidates, is in the running for the Pentagon post, according to three officials who spoke to the New York Times.

Representatives for Vice President Mike Pence and acting White House Chief of Staff Mick Mulvaney have contacted Webb, according to one official, while another confirmed his name has been “circulating at the White House.”

Opposed to both the never-ending Middle Eastern conflict and the Iran nuclear deal, and hawkish on China, which he called “the greatest strategic threat that we have right now” during his short-lived primary run, Webb appears to be a good foreign policy fit for the Trump administration’s new direction.

A Vietnam veteran, Webb briefly registered on the 2016 campaign’s media radar when asked who he was most proud to have as an enemy, answering “I would have to say the enemy soldier that threw the grenade that wounded me, but he’s not around right now to talk to.”

Webb was elected to the Senate for his first and only term in 2006 after switching to the Democratic Party. He briefly mulled running as an independent presidential candidate after dropping out of the Democratic primary in late 2015, claiming his views were no longer in line with mainstream Democrats. He helped pass the post-9/11 GI Bill and covered Asia-Pacific on the Foreign Relations Committee.

Under former President Ronald Reagan, he spent three years as assistant Defense Secretary before being promoted to Navy Secretary in 1987, only to leave the following year in protest over cuts to the military.

Mattis handed in his resignation letter last month, after Trump’s unexpected announcement that he would pull the military out of Syria – fulfilling a campaign promise but counteracting the former general’s advice. While Mattis initially planned to step down in February, Trump “essentially” fired him a few months early, appointing his deputy, former Boeing executive Patrick Shanahan, to take over on an interim basis.

With much of military leadership opposed to Trump’s proposed drawdown in Afghanistan – a proposal most vets and many Americans nevertheless support, according to recent polls – the administration has had to cast its nets wider in the search for new Pentagon leadership. Trump does not appear to be in a hurry to replace Shanahan, hinting he might be around “for a long time” during his visit to troops in Iraq over Christmas, but other names reportedly under consideration include Tom Cotton (R-Arkansas), Lindsay Graham (R-South Carolina), and Jim Talent, a former Republican senator.

The Most Ambitious Clown in the Middle East https://briefnews.eu/the-most-ambitious-clown-in-the-middle-east/ https://briefnews.eu/the-most-ambitious-clown-in-the-middle-east/#respond Sat, 29 Dec 2018 07:16:35 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/the-most-ambitious-clown-in-the-middle-east/ Sabine Choucair is a clown with a mission. After years of clowning (yes, that’s a technical term) to boost morale for the Syrian kids stuck in the purgatory of Lebanon’s refugee camps, Choucair decided to try another form of art therapy. She began a project called the Caravan, which enables Syrians to create their own street theater based on the stories recounted and recorded by other Syrian refugees. And yes, they travel and perform out of a van.

“I thought, ok, how about instead of me telling these stories, how about I let them tell their [own] stories?” says Choucair of her troupe of refugee thespians. Not only is it important for the Syrian community to take ownership of this narrative, she says, but also “for the Lebanese community … to listen to these stories and decide for themselves if they want to love they people, or don’t want to love these people.”

Since this video was filmed in late 2016, the number of refugees in the Bekaa Valley has more than doubled to over 300,000. According to the United Nations, Lebanon as a whole is host to over 1.1 million refugees from the Syrian Civil War, the most of any country relative to population. In recent months, tensions have risen between the Lebanese and Syrian communities, with sporadic reports of violence and cases of army evictions from refugee camps.

Car rams through church in the middle of Christmas service, 6 injured https://briefnews.eu/car-rams-through-church-in-the-middle-of-christmas-service-6-injured/ https://briefnews.eu/car-rams-through-church-in-the-middle-of-christmas-service-6-injured/#respond Mon, 24 Dec 2018 03:25:00 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/car-rams-through-church-in-the-middle-of-christmas-service-6-injured/

A car careened out of control and smashed into the side of the ironically named Crossroads United Methodist Church in Columbus during Sunday services, leaving several injured.

According to the Rev. Jay D. Anderson, services had started just 15 minutes earlier and the choir was mid-hymn when the car exploded through the side of the wall, destroying a panel of stained glass, spraying shards throughout the vicinity, and scattering rows of populated pews.

Given recent incidents of violence at places of worship throughout America, many people jumped to the worst conclusion, at first thinking that a bomb had gone off.

“I didn’t see anything. I just went with the flow. It slid us across the aisle, It felt like a bomb,” Marie Winnestaffer, who was sitting in one of the pews struck by the vehicle, told The Columbus Dispatch

Thankfully, the blast turned out to be a Toyota Corolla driven by an elderly church-goer who lost control of her vehicle.

Nurses attended to the injured on the spot, while Anderson moved others to the side opposite of the now gaping hole in the church wall, where he led prayers for the injured.

“There’s no manual for this,” Anderson said.

Six people were transported with minor cuts and injuries to a local hospital and are in stable condition, according to Columbus Fire Battalion Chief Steve Martin.

Nearly 100 people were in the Church at the time, the unusually packed crowd having gathered for Christmas services.

  • The Hanging Gardens of Bali is a luxurious resort in the middle of the jungle in Bali.
  • It has 44 villas, a twin-tiered pool, and was just named as having “the most stunning views” in the 2018 Boutique Hotel Awards.
  • But the views will cost you: A stay at the hotel ranges from $ 645 to $ 6,200 per night.

Set in the middle of the jungle, with views of a valley, and surrounded by a rainforest: How could a resort like that offer anything but spectacular views?

The Hanging Gardens of Bali were recently awarded the title of “the most stunning views” by the Boutique Hotel Awards.

The resort was completed in 2005 and is built into a mountainside with a 45-degree slope. It consists of 44 villas.

The Boutique Hotel Awards are in their eighth year. According to their website, nominations are made by industry experts, luxury hotel journalists, and self-nominations. This year, winners were selected from more than 300 nominations across 80 countries. It’s also the first year the awards have included a “most stunning views” category.

Also up for consideration in the same category were five other hotels in Sri Lanka, Belize, Mexico, Kenya, and Spain, respectively.

The resort joins a host of other popular destinations across the island of Bali, including a pool that’s become so popular the resort recently chose to ban the use of electronics as part of an “In The Moment” movement, and the Sacred Monkey Forest in Ubud, where tourists pay $ 3 to risk wild monkeys stealing their phones and jewelry.

Take a look inside the Hanging Gardens of Bali below.

Germany’s ‘Achilles heel’? Report claims Middle East consulates sell forged visas to migrants https://briefnews.eu/germanys-achilles-heel-report-claims-middle-east-consulates-sell-forged-visas-to-migrants/ https://briefnews.eu/germanys-achilles-heel-report-claims-middle-east-consulates-sell-forged-visas-to-migrants/#respond Tue, 27 Nov 2018 07:43:10 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/germanys-achilles-heel-report-claims-middle-east-consulates-sell-forged-visas-to-migrants/ Corrupt officials at German consulates in some Middle Eastern states have been collaborating with people smugglers and literally selling forged visas to migrants seeking to come to Germany as refugees, according to reports.

The corrupt schemes “have been run smoothly [by employees] in the visa centers of many German diplomatic missions abroad,” and the Middle East in particular, German Der Spiegel weekly said in its reports, calling the consulates an “Achilles heel” in the fight against people smuggling. The paper also calls the local employees a “weak spot” of German visa departments, as it is they who usually work with people smugglers.

A German consulate in Iraq’s northern city of Erbil was particularly involved in one such fraudulent scheme, according to the paper’s investigation. Local human traffickers offered to get their clients visas through corrupt consulate officials without the need for an approval by the visa and registration department in Germany. A false document, which could allow a would-be asylum seeker to legally enter Germany as part of a refugee reception program, cost between $ 3,000 and $ 13,000.

The shady scheme reportedly ran smoothly between August and December 2017 until finally came to the attention of Foreign Ministry officials. The forgers managed to sell some two dozen visas over this period, Der Spiegel says, adding that the real number of such cases might be much greater.

A similar scheme was run by an employee at a German consulate in Beirut, Lebanon, identified as Mohamad J. The man is reported to have been handling a lucrative visa trade in the consulate between December 2014 and May 2015. He is now facing charges in Germany over 11 instances of selling visas. However, the real number may be much larger, as the investigators have identified as many as 201 suspicious visa applications processed in the consulate over that period.

The German authorities, however, seem to be surprisingly reluctant to investigate such cases. According to Der Spiegel, such probes are usually set in motion only after such incidents hit the media headlines. The authorities started actively investigating the Beirut consulate fraud only after German WDR broadcaster reported on it in its ‘Monitor’ show.

In the case of Erbil, the Foreign Ministry allegedly informed law enforcement agencies about the problem back in December 2017. However, this case apparently remained buried in police bureaucracy for almost a year until the Public Prosecutor’s Office finally launched criminal proceedings against the suspected forgers in October 2018.

The local employees suspected of corruption and visa forgery are still working in Erbil consulate, according to Der Spiegel. The infamous Mohamad J. from the Beirut consulate and his accomplice are now living in Germany, and are allowed to roam free as they await a court hearing on their case.

The Middle Spinoff Starring Eden Sher Not Going Forward at ABC https://briefnews.eu/the-middle-spinoff-starring-eden-sher-not-going-forward-at-abc/ https://briefnews.eu/the-middle-spinoff-starring-eden-sher-not-going-forward-at-abc/#respond Thu, 22 Nov 2018 00:44:01 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/the-middle-spinoff-starring-eden-sher-not-going-forward-at-abc/

Well, this is one heck of a Thanksgiving bummer: ABC has decided not to go forward with its spinoff of The Middle centered on Eden Sher’s Sue Heck, TVLine has learned.

The scrapped spinoff Sue Sue in the City, which received a pilot order from the Alphabet network in August, was to see Sher reprise her Middle role as adorkable daughter Sue Heck, as she leaves Orson, Indiana to pursue a career in Chicago. Brock Ciarlelli, who recurred as best friend Brad on The Middle, was onboard as a series regular as well. The Middle creators Eileen Heisler and DeAnn Heline penned the pilot script and were set to serve as executive producers.

Other cast members later signed on to appear in the pilot, including SNL alum Finesse Mitchell as a bartender pal of Sue’s and Silicon Valley‘s Chris Diamantopoulos as Sue’s hotel-owner boss.

Heck starred as Sue Heck in all nine seasons of The Middle, which ended its ABC run in May. In the series finale, Sue was still a junior in college, but a flash-forward revealed that she eventually married neighbor Sean (after a number of breakups and makeups).

Are you mad as heck you’ll never get to see the Sue Heck spinoff? Drop your thoughts in a comment below.
