‘Hitman 2’ Miami trailer shows murder with scissors and fish https://briefnews.eu/hitman-2-miami-trailer-shows-murder-with-scissors-and-fish/ https://briefnews.eu/hitman-2-miami-trailer-shows-murder-with-scissors-and-fish/#respond Tue, 12 Jun 2018 15:01:08 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/hitman-2-miami-trailer-shows-murder-with-scissors-and-fish/

A new gameplay trailer for Hitman 2 shows the crazy amount of improvisation you’ll be able to do in the game’s Miami level. While offering the standard gun/silencer murders, it also features our hero Agent 47 offing targets with with a pair of scissors, a large fish, a rock, wrench and a frying pan, while blowing up an (evil) car race winner right on the trophy podium.

The level, one of seven, takes place in sunny Miami during some kind of motorsports race. On top of getting a wide choice of weapons, you’ll be able to disguise yourself as a security guard, cop, first aid attendant, pit worker, mechanic and even a mascot to pull off your murderous mission. You can also slay with guns, either up close with a pistol or by sniping a driver right off the track. There are over 2,000 non-player characters (NPCs) on the Miami level alone.

Hitman 2 seems to have captured the inventive sandbox slaughter of the original, letting you play dress-up and hired killer at the same time. It arrives on PlayStation, Xbox and PC on November 13th, 2018, and if you pre-order it early, you’ll get to try out the Sniper Assassin mode for free.

Miami Open 2018: John Isner makes bold Alexander Zverev prediction after final win https://briefnews.eu/miami-open-2018-john-isner-makes-bold-alexander-zverev-prediction-after-final-win/ https://briefnews.eu/miami-open-2018-john-isner-makes-bold-alexander-zverev-prediction-after-final-win/#respond Sun, 01 Apr 2018 20:42:31 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/miami-open-2018-john-isner-makes-bold-alexander-zverev-prediction-after-final-win/

Isner won his maiden Masters 1000 title this evening in scorching conditions at Key Biscayne.

He came from behind to prevail in three sets – 6-7, 6-4, 6-4 – as Crandon Park was given a fitting farewell after staging the tournament for 31 years.

In doing so, Isner will jump to a career-high of world No 9 when the rankings are published tomorrow and he will regain the mantle of No 1 American.

Isner also became the oldest first-time winner of an ATP Masters 1000 event in clinching his first win over Zverev, who entered the tournament fifth in the ATP standings.

And the 32-year-old thinks Zverev, who has struggled to make an impact on the Grand Slams, will reach the summit of the men’s game one day.

“We have known each other for seven to eight years now,” Isner said.

“I was practising with him when he was 14 and I knew he was going to be the next big thing in tennis.

“He has won two of these before so I appreciate you letting me have one.

“You have the brightest future ahead of you and the greatest team with you. You do everything the right way.

“I see the work you put in. You deserve everything you have accomplished so far and everything you will accomplish in the future.

“Keep pushing along and you are going to be at the very top one day.”

Miami Open 2018: Alexander Zverev issues warning after quarter-final win over Borna Coric https://briefnews.eu/miami-open-2018-alexander-zverev-issues-warning-after-quarter-final-win-over-borna-coric/ https://briefnews.eu/miami-open-2018-alexander-zverev-issues-warning-after-quarter-final-win-over-borna-coric/#respond Fri, 30 Mar 2018 04:03:10 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/miami-open-2018-alexander-zverev-issues-warning-after-quarter-final-win-over-borna-coric/

After the match was delayed by over an hour due to a power failure, Zverev overcame a slow start before prevailing in straight sets – 6-4, 6-4.

The German, who already has two Masters 1000 series titles to his name (Rome and Montreal), will hope to book his place in the final when he faces Pablo Carreno-Busta later today.

The world No 5 has been tipped to be the natural successor to Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal in the future, but his results in the Grand Slams have something left to be desired – a fourth round appearance at Wimbledon last year his best showing.

But Zverev thinks he is rapidly approaching his best form which will no doubt be a worry to rivals.

When asked about his form after his victory over Coric, he said: “I don’t think I’m far away at all.

“I’m not away at all to be honest.

“The beginning of the seasons are very tough for me because I’m someone who does a lot of physical work in the off season and I have to get used to my new body.

“I put on about 4kg – I’m heavier than I was, stronger than I was and it influences your tennis. It just takes time.”

On facing Carreno-Busta for the first time, Zverev added: “It will be a very difficult match.

“It doesn’t get easy but I will be ready for it.”

Miami Open 2018: Juan Martin del Potro already thinking beyond tournament https://briefnews.eu/miami-open-2018-juan-martin-del-potro-already-thinking-beyond-tournament/ https://briefnews.eu/miami-open-2018-juan-martin-del-potro-already-thinking-beyond-tournament/#respond Tue, 27 Mar 2018 17:21:44 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/miami-open-2018-juan-martin-del-potro-already-thinking-beyond-tournament/

The Argentinian has enjoyed a fruitful start to 2018, winning two tournaments so far.

Del Potro picked up the Mexican Open in February before ending Roger Federer’s unbeaten run at the Indian Wells Masters.

The 29-year-old is now hot-favourite to win the Miami Open this week.

But Del Potro is already thinking beyond his time in Florida.

And the world No 6 admits he wants to be in top shape for the French Open in May.

“My body has started to feel tight because of all my success,” he said.

“But I’m enjoying a lot playing this tournament.

“I would like to stay longer because it’s a special tournament for me.

“I don’t like too much the tournaments on clay, so maybe I quit few tournaments from the start of the season, of the clay season.

“I will try to be 100 per cent for French Open.

“Maybe some tournaments before the French.”

Del Potro is preparing to take on Filip Krajinovic in Miami this evening.

A win would see him take on either Jeremy Chardy or Milos Raonic in the quarter-final.

Miami Open: Raonic dispatches higher-seeded Schwartzman in straight sets https://briefnews.eu/miami-open-raonic-dispatches-higher-seeded-schwartzman-in-straight-sets/ https://briefnews.eu/miami-open-raonic-dispatches-higher-seeded-schwartzman-in-straight-sets/#respond Mon, 26 Mar 2018 07:32:36 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/miami-open-raonic-dispatches-higher-seeded-schwartzman-in-straight-sets/

Milos Raonic earned a hard-fought victory over Argentina’s Diego Schwartzman in the third round of the Miami Open on Sunday.

The Thornhill, Ont., native was in tough against the tournament’s No. 13, but won a tiebreak in the first set before grabbing the match’s only two breaks in the second to prevail 7-6(5), 6-3.

Raonic, seeded 20th in Key Biscayne, Fla., will take on unseeded Frenchman Jeremy Chardy next with a chance to advance to the semifinals.

Canadian Milos Raonic defeated Argentinian Diego Schwartzman 7-6, 6-3 on Sunday at the Miami Open.1:08

The Canadian has yet to drop a set through two matches. It took him 90 minutes to beat Schwartzman.

The biggest difference in the match was Raonic’s serve. He connected on 10 aces compared to zero for the Argentinian.

Venus rallies for victory

When Venus Williams slammed a forehand winner on the final point to win a seesaw marathon Sunday, she had enough energy left to spin in delight at the net, a triumphant fist leading the way.

Some 21 years after her Key Biscayne debut, wins at the Miami Open remain something to celebrate.

Williams squandered an early lead, fell behind late and then overcame three match points to rally past Kiki Bertens in the third round, 5-7, 6-3, 7-5.

Williams blew a 5-0 lead in the first set and was down 5-3 in the third set. But she swept the final four games, holding serve at love for the victory.

“It didn’t look good sometimes,” Williams told the supportive crowd. “But that’s why you keep playing until the last point. And that’s why I love this game.”

The match took nearly three hours on the hottest day of the tournament so far, and the 37-year-old Williams now must recover quickly to next play defending champion Johanna Konta. The No. 11-seeded Konta advanced with much less drama, beating No. 22 Elise Mertens 6-2, 6-1.

Pospisil goes down

In men’s play, No. 5 Juan Martin del Potro extended his winning streak to 13 matches by eliminating No. 26 Kei Nishikori 6-2, 6-2. Del Potro won his first Masters 1000 title last week at Indian Wells.

No. 2 Marin Cilic swept past Canada’s Vasek Pospisil 7-5, 7-6 (4). No. 3 Grigor Dimitrov lost to Jeremy Chardy 6-4, 6-4.

Williams regrouped after a disastrous opening set, which she was four times a single point from winning. In the final set she erased two match points at 5-3, and another in the next game.

The stadium was nearly full by the finish. Williams, who lives in South Florida and has long been a favourite with Key Biscayne fans, said they kept her going.

“I felt everybody behind me,” she told them. “My opponent played well. I had a lot of chances; she had a lot of chances. I hope it was really entertaining for you all.”

Williams, who is seeded No. 8, won the tournament way back in 1998, 1999 and 2001. Last year she reached the semifinal, and this year she outlasted her sister, eight-time champion Serena Williams, who was upset in the first round.

“I love it here,” Venus said. “This was my first big win. I have a lot of great memories. I hope I can get another win this year. You never know.”

We go to a deciding set.

Game well and truly on now.

Federer 1-2 Kokkinakis*

Another hold for Kokkinakis. Makes a big difference to his game when he gets the first serve in.

Federer* 1-1 Kokkinakis

Kokkinakis is unable to make a dent on Federer’s serve so far as the world number one moves him all across the court.

Federer 0-1 Kokkinakis*

Kokkinakis slips to 0-30 with two unforced errors but the Australian get to 30-30.

Federer* 4-1 Kokkinakis

Wow. Federer stuns the crowd as he hits a volley from behind his back at the net. But credit to Kokkinakis, who stays focused and makes the forehand pass.

Nevertheless, Federer strolls through another service game.

Federer 3-1 Kokkinakis*

A win for Kokkinakis would make him the lowest ranked person to beat Federer in 15 years.

Bad call! Federer looks in position to win the point and earn his first break point but the line judge calls the ball out and it is quickly overruled by the umpire. Federer stands, hands on hips, rueing the decision.

Comfortable service hold for Federer to start the match. An ace and a forehand down the line winner the highlights.

First Set

Federer on court

Roger Federer strides onto the court to a huge ovation from the Miami crowd.

Kokkinakis also gets a warm welcome.

Play to start soon.

Halep beaten

Halep failed to capitalise on her first set win and the world No 1 is out!

A huge win for Radwanska.

Federer should be on court in around 15 minutes.

Almost there

Federer is due on court after Simona Halep is finished taking on Agnieszka Radwanska.

The Romanian took the first set 6-3 but was comfortably beaten 2-6 in the second.

What could have been…

Tennis fans are all grateful for Federer’s contribution to the sport.

But it all could have turned out so very differently.

Speaking before his return to the court this week, Federer was asked what career path he would have taken had he not played tennis.

And the Swiss star responded with a shock answer.

“A retired soccer player by now,” Federer told the Miami Herald.

“I was hoping to be a soccer player once upon a time.

“I liked midfield and scoring goals, but in the end I chose tennis because I didn’t want to blame the goalie or defender, I wanted to be in total control.”

Kokkinakis confident of an upset

Despite being at the beginning of his career, Kokkinakis is not cowering away from the task at hand this evening.

And the youngster truly believes he can beat Federer this evening.

“I think if I serve well and play well, I can have a good crack, but obviously playing Roger is tough. I think the majority of the crowd will be supporting him, which is not too much of a surprise. But it is what it is,” he told the ATP World Tour website.

“If I play well, I think I can do some good things.

“[I know] everything about him so if I lose it’s completely on me. I’m sure he doesn’t show everything on the practice court. But I’ve seen what I can and I’m going to go out there and have a crack.”

Recent form

As mentioned, Federer suffered his first defeat of 2018 when falling to Del Potro in California last week.

But the Swiss star does already have two titles to his name in 2018.

Wins in Australia and Rotterdam saw Federer return to the top of the ATP world rankings.

And it would be a huge shock should he crash out in round two here.

Kokkinakis, on the other hand, sits 175th in the world at present.

The 21-year-old has never faced Federer.

But a shock victory this evening would surely be the pinnacle of his career so far.

Novak Djokovic makes HUGE admission after shock Miami Open defeat https://briefnews.eu/novak-djokovic-makes-huge-admission-after-shock-miami-open-defeat/ https://briefnews.eu/novak-djokovic-makes-huge-admission-after-shock-miami-open-defeat/#respond Sat, 24 Mar 2018 00:49:55 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/novak-djokovic-makes-huge-admission-after-shock-miami-open-defeat/

Following a disappointing loss to No 109 Daniel Taro at Indian Wells, the Serb’s struggles continued in the States on Friday with another loss.

He went down in straight sets, 6-3, 6-4, to Frenchman Paire – No 47 in the ATP rankings – to bring to an end a 16-match winning streak in Key Biscayne.

Djokovic – a six-time winner in Miami – has now suffered three straight defeats after returning from a six-month lay-off with an elbow injury at the Australian Open in January.

The 12-time Grand Slam champion has not endured such a poor run of form since the end of 2007, when he lost five on the spin.

And Djokovic admitted that his continued failure to get back to his best level is taking its toll on him mentally.

“I’m trying, but it’s not working,” the 30-year-old admitted. “That’s all it is.

“I’m not feeling great when I’m playing this way. Of course, I want to be able to play as well as I want to play.

“Just, it’s impossible at the moment. That’s all. I lost to a better player.

“I wouldn’t go out on the court if I didn’t believe I can win a tennis match. I wouldn’t be here if I wasn’t trying.

“Nobody is kind of forcing me with a whip to go out on the court. I have a freedom to choose whether I want to play or not.

“I love this sport. There’s a lot of people that support me, especially here. I thank them for their great support.

“Unfortunately I’m not at the level they would like to see me at and I would like to see myself at.

“But it is what it is. Life goes on.”

Djokovic is expected to return to the tour at the Madrid Open in May – allowing himself a break to rediscover his form on the practice courts.
