NCIS resumed Season 18 this Tuesday night with two episodes — one that had a light, rom-com vibe, and one that… did not. When all was said and done, what’d you think about the reveal of why Gibbs shot McGee in this season’s cold open?

We are not here to recap this week’s first episode, delightful as it was, in which Tim and Delilah enjoyed their most fun together time in a while by helping crack a case during their Bahamian getaway. No, we are here to discuss the second hour, which leaped us forward three months, to the same timeline as the teaser that opened the season, where Gibbs for some reason shot at McGee from a sniper’s perch at an airport.

With Fornell still AWOL, Gibbs was fixing to amp up the investigation into the opioid ring led by the mysterious “Merriweather.” Vance, though, said that SECNAV had pulled the plug, and it would be the DEA’s case now. Desperate, Gibbs dashed off to the airport from Fornell’s photo, where he spotted a jet with Merriweather’s horse head logo. Seeing a man emerge from the jet, Gibbs tackled him — and it was Fornell! Starting with Fornell’s knee to Gibbs’ family jewels, a “fake fight” ensued (for the sake of the security cameras Tobias had set up). As they humorously traded wayward gunfire, Fornell explained that a big shipment was due soon, one that was somehow “different.” When Gibbs orders his friend to “read me in!,” Fornell told him to check his glove box in a few minutes.

Gibbs shows Vance was Tobias left for him — a glassine of opioids that are somehow “different” from the rest, and a very blurry photo of Merriweather. Vance says that his new priority is a report of a possible terrorist attack on a military base, but he gives Gibbs and his team 72 hours to do what they can do. Kasie works on enhancing the photo (which actually netted instant results, albeit in the form of a man with multiple names/passports), while Bishop and Torres looked into a petty officer who had gotten hooked on Vicodin and then began dealing for Merriweather, working out of a series of Beltway Burgers locations. They also learn that, curiously, the price on the new pills had been lowered from $ 20 each to just five dollars. But why?

Well, the PO in question turned up dead — not from the opiates in his system, but from a poison they had been laced with. So, Merriweather’s plan — the terrorist attack Vance had heard about — was to circulate the lethal pills via the Beltway Burgers that all neighbored military bases, targeting potentially thousands of officers.

NCIS Fornell TorresSloane combs through the Beltway Burgers personnel files and finds that Fornell’s shift manager, greasy-haired “Chad,” is actually Vladimir Ivanov. Posing as an exterminator, Torres scouts out Vlad’s property, while Bishop runs comms from a van. When “Chad” confronts the bug man, Torres produces a work order from the HOA, while spotting Fornell inside the house. “Chad” is about to let Torres go when he gets a text warning him of surveillance. Vlad spins to shoot Torres in the back, but Fornell puts down the Russian first. Alas, Torres and Fornell then realize the bad guys have grabbed Bishop from the van.

After sending Fornell and Torres to scout out a warehouse that funnels the drugs, Gibbs takes a call from Merriweather, passing himself off as “Toby.” Merriweather wants to trade something G-man Toby wants, Bishop, for his right hand man Vladimir, whom he appears to think was merely arrested and not killed. “Toby” agrees to the trade in one hour, then ropes McGee into a plan in which a ballcap-wearing McGee will at least briefly pose as Fornell, while Gibbs sets up a sniper’s perch. But just as McGee drives onto the airstrip and cuts off the plane presumably carrying Merriweather and Bishop, his comms go out. As such, Vance and Gibbs are not able to alert him to new intel that the plane he is about to approach is rigged to explode.

It falls on Gibbs to stop Tim from nearing the plane — first with warning shots, which McGee assumes are from a baddie, and then with hits to his arm and his leg. McGee is down, yes, but saved from the fiery plane explosion that soon follows. Bishop meanwhile emerges from the hangar to reunite with/embrace Torres, having fought her way free of the goon who was guarding her.

As for Merriweather? Tracking him (aka Alexi Myshkin) proved remarkably easy, seeing as he stayed in town for the 21st birthday party for his daughter, who had been helping him launder/hide his millions.

Later, while Fornell reunites with daughter Emily (who though peeved with his vanishing act gives him her six-month sobriety chip), Gibbs heads to the hospital to get an update from Delilah on Tim, who is out of surgery but not out of the woods (the leg shot hit a femoral artery). Gibbs starts to apologize/explain himself, but Delilah cuts him off, saying she knows he had no choice — and besides, “You saved Tim’s life.”

ABC is preparing to give viewers a Home Economics lesson, with a Spring 2021 comedy series starring and executive-produced by Topher Grace, TVLine has learned.

The single-camera comedy explores “the heartwarming, yet super uncomfortable and sometimes frustrating relationship between three adult siblings: one in the 1 percent, one middle-class, and one barely holding on,” reads the official synopsis.

Grace (That ’70s Show) will play middle sibling Tom, an intellectual/novelist who has had a couple of books that sold decently, though his last one did not. Caitlin McGee (Bluff City Law) portrays the eldest sibling, Sarah, a therapist for at-risk kids who is married to a teacher, and as such they’re often scraping to make ends meet. A doting mom to her two kids, she tries to be a guru to her two brothers, who obviously would be lost without her wisdom.

Finally, Jimmy Tatro (Modern Family) will play third sibling Connor, who never met a corner he didn’t try to cut. Conner runs his own private equity firm and is outrageously wealthy. He has a keen financial mind, but he’s clueless about how to parent his young daughter Gretchen. He recently moved his family to the Bay Area so he could be closer to his siblings Tom and Sarah. But now he’s learning how his siblings actually feel about him.

The cast also includes Karla Souza (How to Get Away With Murder) as Tom’s wife Marina, a proud New Yorker and former lawyer who would like to go back to work one day (if only to escape her children); SNL vet Sasheer Zamata as Sarah’s wife Denise, a superhumanly patient public-school teacher whose relentlessly positive attitude often perplexes the rest of the family; and a child actor ensemble populated by Shiloh Bearman, Jordyn Starr Curet, Chloe Jo Rountree and JeCobi Swain.

Home Economics is written by Penguins of Madagascar’s Michael Colton and John Aboud and inspired by Colton’s family.

Executive producer Frank Cardea sat down with CarterMatt, along with the episode’s writer Gina Luctia Monreal, to discuss a powerful moment of growth for McGee, the character Frank created 17 years ago.

During the episode, the older team leader and former U.S. Marine Corps Scout Sniper Gibbs confides in McGee about his own traumatic experiences.

As well as revealing more info about Gibb’s difficult past, it was an opportunity for Special Agent McGee to step up and support his mentor during a moment of vulnerability.

Strictly Come Dancing Christmas – Debbie McGee wins festive gong https://briefnews.eu/strictly-come-dancing-christmas-debbie-mcgee-wins-festive-gong/ https://briefnews.eu/strictly-come-dancing-christmas-debbie-mcgee-wins-festive-gong/#respond Thu, 26 Dec 2019 03:02:39 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/strictly-come-dancing-christmas-debbie-mcgee-wins-festive-gong/

Delighted Debbie, 61 – who was a finalist on the main show in 2017 – said of last night’s triumph: “I wasn’t expecting it! It’s just amazing but you know, everybody has been fantastic. I think it’s everybody’s, because we all had a great time, everyone did such great dances.”

Debbie – who lost magician husband Paul three years ago – was up against fellow ex-contestants including Holby City actress Chizzy Akudolu and former Emmerdale star Gemma Atkinson, who danced with boyfriend pro Gorka Marquez.

Social media favourite Joe Sugg also teamed up with his pro beau Dianne Buswell. DJ Mark Wright and Good Morning Britain presenter Richard Arnold completed the line-up.

The show was hosted as usual by Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman with Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse, Bruno Tonioli and Shirley Ballas judging.

It opened with a group performance by the pros filmed at Leeds Castle, Kent.

Each couple then took to the floor for their own routines before the studio audience voted for their favourite and their tallies were combined with the judges’ scores.

Debbie and Kevin – who won the 2018 series with his now-girlfriend Stacey Dooley – lifted the Strictly Silver Star.

Liam Payne also appeared to sing his track All I Want For Christmas.

Debbie has long been an accomplished dancer.

In 2000, she and Paul set up touring company Ballet Imaginaire.

Strictly Come Dancing 2017 runner-up Debbie McGee  appeared in the BBC audience tonight.

The 60-year-old was partnered with Giovanni Pernice last year and the pair did well.

Debbie looked radiant in a shimmery number as she excitedly waited to watch all of the performances.

The former dancer appeared in a floor-length navy blue gown which had plenty of sparkles on to match the glamour of Strictly.

Fans were thrilled to see Debbie back on screens after getting all the way to the final last year.

One wrote: “Ugh yes cameraman keep showing queen Debbie.”

Another added: “The Lovely Debbie McGee is in the audience!”

A third shared: “My youngest keeps shouting “Debbie McGee”. Can she dance please!”

Debbie told her Twitter followers about her exciting time at Strictly Come Dancing earlier today.

She met Giovanni’s current partner, Faye Tozer, and wished the pair the best of luck.

Debbie posted: “So excited to be at Elstree to watch my @bbcstrictly family and meet the new Strictly 2018 family.”

She went on: “I am over the moon to meet the gorgeous @Faye_Tozer so looking forward to watching her & @pernicegiovann1 dance their Tango Go guys go.”

But Faye and Giovanni will perform a Tango this evening to Call Me by Blondie.

She will face tough competition from current favourite, Stacey Dooley, however.

The presenter is taking on a Street and Commercial routine to Empire State of Mind (Part II) by Alicia Keys.

Stacey is the current favourite to lift the Glitterball trophy on Strictly Come Dancing.

Along with Kevin Clifton, the pair have shown great improvement throughout.

The other high-scorer is Ashley Roberts and Pasha Kovalev who topped the leaderboard this week.

They bagged 39 for their cute Trollz-themed Charleston.

Strictly Come Dancing continues tomorrow on BBC One at 7.50pm.

Debbie McGee to enter I’m A Celebrity after Strictly Come Dancing success? 'She's perfect' https://briefnews.eu/debbie-mcgee-to-enter-im-a-celebrity-after-strictly-come-dancing-success-shes-perfect/ https://briefnews.eu/debbie-mcgee-to-enter-im-a-celebrity-after-strictly-come-dancing-success-shes-perfect/#respond Mon, 19 Mar 2018 13:48:16 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/debbie-mcgee-to-enter-im-a-celebrity-after-strictly-come-dancing-success-shes-perfect/

is favourite to be heading to Australia for I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! with reports that bosses are keen for her to go into the jungle.

The 59-year-old enjoyed a lot of success on last year and bookmakers have slashed the odds on her spending time Down Under.

Bookmakers have slated her odds to go into the jungle at just 2/1.

“ITV are lining up some big names for the next series and we think that Debbie would not only fit the bill but also would be keen to give it a go,” a spokesperson for Coral said.

“It could be the perfect match.”

It comes after it was rumoured that the ITV show will feature a Coronation Street star after Jennie McAlpine appeared in last year’s series.

Shayne Ward’s odds on heading into the jungle are at just 6/4, making him the mostly like to partake following his departure from the soap later this year.

“Shayne is no stranger to reality TV success, having won X Factor back in 2005,” Harry Aitkenhead added.

“With his time on Coronation Street coming to an end the timing for a stint in the jungle looks better than ever.”

Other stars from the ITV soap rumoured to eying up a spot in the jungle include Faye Brooks and Katie McGlynn.

“Jennie’s appearance on the series has inspired many of the Corrie cast to want to take part in the experience,” an insider told The Sun.

“She absolutely loved her time in the jungle and now Faye, Shayne and Katie are all eager to follow in her place.

“But TV bosses will only take on one Corrie cast member – and, so far, they have a tough decision on their hands.

“It’s still very early in the process but a soap star is always a popular option for I’m A Celebrity.”

The source added: “Jennie was a real hit and Corrie bosses were fine for her to take some time off from playing Fiz Brown to be in the show.”

Meanwhile, Piers Morgan is also rumoured to be heading into the jungle, with odds on him taking part at 9/2.

“I’m a Celeb chiefs are reportedly looking for blockbuster names to head Down Under this year, and with Piers offering himself to Strictly, we would be surprised to see ITV bosses go all out to take him to the Jungle,” a spokesperson for Ladbrokes said.

I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! is expected to return to ITV later this year.

Debbie McGee net worth: Paul Daniels’ widow has THIS fortune thanks to Strictly salary https://briefnews.eu/debbie-mcgee-net-worth-paul-daniels-widow-has-this-fortune-thanks-to-strictly-salary/ https://briefnews.eu/debbie-mcgee-net-worth-paul-daniels-widow-has-this-fortune-thanks-to-strictly-salary/#respond Sat, 17 Mar 2018 10:13:20 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/debbie-mcgee-net-worth-paul-daniels-widow-has-this-fortune-thanks-to-strictly-salary/

Debbie McGee, 59, also known as Debra Ann McGee, recently starred in Strictly Come Dancing, and is best known as the widow of magician Paul Daniels, who died at the age of 77.

She rose to fame as the assistant of Paul Daniels in his magic show, BBC One’s The Paul Daniels Magical Show, and was commonly introduced as “the lovely Debbie McGee”.

She starred on Strictly Come Dancing 2017 alongside professional dance partner Giovanni Bernice, and the pair reached the final before being beaten by Joe McFadden dancing with Katya Jones.

She is also a former ballet dancer, and was once artistic director of a ballet company she owned as well as dancing herself in the Iranian National Ballet Company in Tehran.

She became the first female member of British professional magician circle The Magic Circle in 1991, and in 2017 won the Magic Circle’s Maskelyne Award.

What is Debbie McGee’s net worth?

Debbie was born in Kingston upon Thames in 1958 to parents Patrick McGee and Lillian Howes, and her parents had their own corner shop while she was young.

She was educated at Our Lady Immaculate RC Primary School in Tolworth, before attending Tolworth Girls’ School.

She later attended the Royal Ballet School after auditioning and gaining a place at the age of 19.

Debbie’s total fortune is not known, however, various pieces of information available give clues to how much she has.

Paul Daniels is said to have left just under £500,000 to his widow after his death in 2016, due to debts of more than £1 million claiming the rest of his money.

It is believed Debbie took a further £75,000 as her salary away after making it to the Strictly finals, according to The Sun.

Debbie has published multiple books in collaboration with Susan Wilson, although her earnings from this work are unknown.

Yesterday, Express.co.uk revealed the net worth of comedian Ricky Gervais after he refused a huge salary from Netflix.

The comedian has enjoyed hit after hit since he first found fame with The Office in 2001, and has combined writing and starring in TV series with Hollywood movie roles, stand-up comedy gigs and even awards ceremony hosting duties.

Now, with the release of his new stand-up show Humanity on Netflix, Ricky has amassed an estimated fortune of £71 million.

Ricky divides his time between two homes in Hampstead and New York City and lives with his partner Jane Fallon.

Debbie McGee breaks down as she reveals ‘guilt’ over Paul Daniels' death: ‘I get sad’ https://briefnews.eu/debbie-mcgee-breaks-down-as-she-reveals-guilt-over-paul-daniels-death-i-get-sad/ https://briefnews.eu/debbie-mcgee-breaks-down-as-she-reveals-guilt-over-paul-daniels-death-i-get-sad/#respond Sat, 17 Mar 2018 00:07:49 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/debbie-mcgee-breaks-down-as-she-reveals-guilt-over-paul-daniels-death-i-get-sad/

Debbie McGee made the confession as she appeared on the BBC Two show which follows several celebrities trekking the Camino de Santiago.

A chance meeting with a fellow traveller saw the 59-year-old shed tears over her husband Paul, who died from a brain tumour in 2016.

The moment unfolded as Debbie spoke to a young man named Liam who was walking the Camino in memory of his late father, and they shared in their grief.

Debbie told Liam: “I lost my husband just over a year ago and the way I kind of dealt with it is to keep really busy and when I’m on my own, it really hits me.”

Liam retorted: “Keeping active is the main thing. You don’t have to grieve and just curl up in a ball.”

Debbie continued: “When you know you’re losing someone, it is too hard to say the things that you want to say because you don’t want to cry in front of them.”

The pair then discussed how the expedition and meeting new people could help with their feelings.

Liam said: “Speaking to strangers, they don’t judge you.

“With your family you don’t want to upset them but with someone you don’t know, you can bear your soul to them.”

Debbie later reflected on the meeting, telling the camera: “It was a special moment to meet Liam, it made me think that why everyone thinks the Camino Way is so special.

“I can’t think of anywhere in the world where someone else would open up with such raw emotion so quickly.”

She then fought back tears as she explained: “He’s only 27 and so I just, I get sad, but I’m always able to then find something that makes me think ‘you can’t be sad because there is always someone who is much worse off than you are’.”

The former magician’s assistant had earlier revealed that thinking about Paul could trigger an outpour of emotions.

She explained: “I can talk about Paul a lot but I can’t think about things that we did. I go completely.”

Debbie also confessed why she was doing the pilgrimage, saying: “I’m in a place in my life where I don’t really know where I am, I just hope that at the end of the pilgrimage there will be some sort of enlightenment.”

Pilgrimage: The Road to Santiago returns Friday at 9pm on BBC Two.

Debbie McGee ‘SNAPS’ at The One Show guest in foul-mouthed rant: 'I'll take you down' https://briefnews.eu/debbie-mcgee-snaps-at-the-one-show-guest-in-foul-mouthed-rant-ill-take-you-down/ https://briefnews.eu/debbie-mcgee-snaps-at-the-one-show-guest-in-foul-mouthed-rant-ill-take-you-down/#respond Thu, 15 Mar 2018 20:16:44 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/debbie-mcgee-snaps-at-the-one-show-guest-in-foul-mouthed-rant-ill-take-you-down/

The former star was joined by guest Karen Anvil, whose picture of Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, Prince William and Kate Middleton at Christmas went viral, for the segment which saw her take on the role of an angry celeb.

could be seen approaching the studios in London, trying to keep a low profile, when Karen started shouting her name.

“Debbie, can I get a shot for The One Show?” the amateur photographer asked.

Karen certainly wasn’t prepared for what was to come next, as the 59-year-old launched into a foul-mouthed rant.

“You want a shot of this do you?” snapped Debbie as she squared up to Karen. “A bit of Debbie McGee.

“I’m really fed up of people like you.”

Paul Daniels’ widow could then be seen grabbing Karen’s shirt as she continued to scream at the guest.

“I’m going to take you down, I’ll take you down to f**king China Town,” Debbie shouted.

“I’ll knee cap you. I’ll use you as the f**king garden hose, an actual garden hose.”

Debbie was then seen throwing pieces of papers into the air as she stormed off.

Back in The One Show studio, Debbie and Karen was pictured laughing at the sketch.

Matt Baker, who was presenting the show alongside Angelica Bell, was quick to ensure viewers knew the segment was a joke.

Later on the show, Debbie opened up on her pilgrimage to Santiago, which is set to air on the BBC soon.

Speaking about the difficulties of the walk, she confessed her feet were ruined by the pilgrimage.

“My feet were completely covered in blisters on blisters on blisters,” she explained.

She later confessed the trip was difficult because she was still grieving for her late husband Paul.

The One Show airs weekdays on BBC One at 7pm.

Stephen Hawking death – Debbie McGee in VERY awkward mix-up – Did she just say that? https://briefnews.eu/stephen-hawking-death-debbie-mcgee-in-very-awkward-mix-up-did-she-just-say-that/ https://briefnews.eu/stephen-hawking-death-debbie-mcgee-in-very-awkward-mix-up-did-she-just-say-that/#respond Wed, 14 Mar 2018 12:26:59 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/stephen-hawking-death-debbie-mcgee-in-very-awkward-mix-up-did-she-just-say-that/

Debbie McGee, 59, had a guest presenting spot on Matthew Wright’s Channel 5 show and paid tribute to the theoretical physicist, who died aged 76 yesterday.

The Strictly Come Dancing star began: “Stephen Hawking died and his children have praised him for his courage and persistence, which I think is a great way to describe him.

“He was the first to have a theory of cosmology and all the things he achieved and he was diagnosed at the age of 22 with this rare form of motor neurone disease and told that he probably only had a few years to live at most.”

The former Strictly Come Dancing finalist went on to read out some tweets from viewers, but was interrupted by host Matthew.

“Yeah his books sold 10 million copies,” Matthew chipped in.

Debbie went on: “Yeah, yeah his book, The Theory of Relativity, wasn’t it?”

Thankfully, Matthew was on hand to help out, grinning: “I think that was Einstein.”

“Oh, yeah it was,” Debbie gasped. “I’m having a blonde moment.”

She teased: “You will invite me back when I’m not blonde, will you?”

Stephen Hawking’s family confirmed the professor died yesterday.

The British physicist was father to Robert, 50, Lucy, 47, and Timothy, 38, who he had with his first wife Jane Wilde, now 73.

In a touching joint statement, the trio wrote: “We are deeply saddened that our beloved father passed away today.

“He was a great scientist and an extraordinary man whose work and legacy will live on for many years. His courage and persistence with his brilliance and humour inspired people across the world.

“He once said, ‘It would not be much of a universe if it wasn’t home to the people you love’. We will miss him forever.”

Stars from across the world have paid tribute to Hawking, with Eddie Redmayne – who played the trail-blazer in the Theory of Everything – hailing him as “the funniest man I have ever had the pleasure to meet”.

The Wright Stuff airs weekdays at 9.15am on Channel 5.
