Ratings: LEGO Masters Clicks in Debut, Ranks No. 2 Behind Masked Singer https://briefnews.eu/ratings-lego-masters-clicks-in-debut-ranks-no-2-behind-masked-singer/ https://briefnews.eu/ratings-lego-masters-clicks-in-debut-ranks-no-2-behind-masked-singer/#respond Thu, 06 Feb 2020 17:21:14 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/ratings-lego-masters-clicks-in-debut-ranks-no-2-behind-masked-singer/

Oh, snap. The premiere of Fox’s LEGO Masters on Wednesday night drew 4.8 million total viewers and a very youthful 1.6 demo rating, well above the best numbers that Almost Family ever did (2.7 mil/0.7) in the plum post-Masked Singer time slot, and placing second in the demo for the night.

The Masked Singer — coming off its post-Super Bowl showcase (which did a boffo 23.7 mil and an 8.1) — opened the night with 7.4 million total viewers and a Wednesday-dominating 2.0 rating, on par with its Season 2 average. (Read recap.)

Elsewhere….

THE CW | Riverdale (676K/0.2, read recap) and Nancy Drew (632K/0.1) were steady.

ABC | A special Bachelor outing (5.1 mil/1.3) was off a bit from Monday’s three-hour opus but fared far better than ABC’s usual sitcom line-up. Yet even with that stronger lead-in, Stumptown dipped to its smallest audience yet (2.28 mil) while clutching onto its demo low (0.4).

NBC | Chicago Med (8.6 mil/1.1) and Fire (8.2 mil/1.1) were steady in the demo, while P.D. (7.2 mil/1.1, read post mortem) ticked up to match its best rating in a year.

CBS | Leading out of a tepidly rated Survivor special (3.9 mil/0.6), a Criminal Minds double-pump delivered successive season lows of 4.3 mil/0.6 and then 3.8 mil/0.5.

The Live+Same Day numbers reported in our daily-ish ratings column do not reflect a show’s overall performance, given the increases in delayed playback via DVR and streaming platforms. These Live+Same Day numbers instead are used to illustrate any trends or high/low superlatives. Happy Fun Ball may stick to certain types of skin.

Casualty spoilers: Jacob Masters in turmoil as he makes heartbreaking discovery? https://briefnews.eu/casualty-spoilers-jacob-masters-in-turmoil-as-he-makes-heartbreaking-discovery/ https://briefnews.eu/casualty-spoilers-jacob-masters-in-turmoil-as-he-makes-heartbreaking-discovery/#respond Sat, 15 Jun 2019 18:21:29 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/casualty-spoilers-jacob-masters-in-turmoil-as-he-makes-heartbreaking-discovery/

Viewers will watch nurse Jacob Masters (played by Charles Venn) discover some heartbreaking news about his mother Omo’s (Ellen Thomas) health in tonight’s episode.

Over the last few weeks Omo has been manipulated by drug dealer Jet Campbell (Seroca Davis) who has moved into her home and tricked her into believing she’s actually looking after her.

In tonight’s episode Jacob storms round to Omo’s house in a bid to make her see sense but ends up in a heated exchanged with Jet.

Casualty star Charles admits: “We’ve seen Jacob feeling helpless to protect his vulnerable mother from Jet, who has been using Omo’s house to sell drugs from and taking advantage of her.

“But Jacob is a dogged individual and this week he decides to go back to the house and tells Jet he’s coming in, whether she likes it or not,” he told What’s On TV.

When asked how Jet reacts to Jacob, Charles revealed: “She resists and tries to stop Jacob coming in, so he pushes the door.

“But in doing so, Jet falls to the floor and hurts her wrist.

“And, of course, being manipulative, Jet takes advantage of what’s happened and makes a scene, like she’s the victim and Jacob deliberately hurt her.”

However Jacob ends up accompanying Jet and his mum to the Emergency Department and makes a shocking discovery about his mum’s health.

Jet has been selling Omo’s prescribed medication and substituting it with ineffective replacements.

Now Jacob is aware of what Jet’s been really up to will he be able to convince Omo she’s bad news?

Omo had previously washed her hands of Jacob leading to Jet swooping in to take advantage.

But now Jacob has proof of Jet’s shady dealings it looks like he’ll finally be able to reconcile with his mum.

Meanwhile Casualty star Michael Stevenson has filmed his final scenes for the BBC medical drama.

Paramedic Iain Dean has spent six years with the Emergency Department and the show has confirmed they are happy for him to return.

After wrapping up his final scenes Michael took to Twitter to share a message with his fans.

“Thanks for keeping me warm coat. Just hang here for a while, I won’t need you this summer!” he shared alongside a picture of his paramedic jacket.

“Six years done. Memories banked. Laughs laughed. And several exploding cars, collapsing buildings and ambulances crashed!

“Until next time… x #casualty #bbccasualty #iaindean,” he added.

Michael’s final scenes as paramedic Iain will air in autumn.

Casualty continues tonight at 8.25pm on BBC One.

Lego Masters on Channel 4: How many episodes are in Lego Masters? https://briefnews.eu/lego-masters-on-channel-4-how-many-episodes-are-in-lego-masters/ https://briefnews.eu/lego-masters-on-channel-4-how-many-episodes-are-in-lego-masters/#respond Fri, 09 Nov 2018 03:04:21 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/lego-masters-on-channel-4-how-many-episodes-are-in-lego-masters/

Channel 4 reality competition Lego Masters returned last week on November 6 at 8pm. Episodes of Lego Masters airs weekly and are available on Chanel 4’s video-on-demand service All4.

How many episodes are in Lego Masters on Channel 4?

Series two of Lego Masters consists of three episodes in total.

The first series of Lego Masters had a total of four episodes, so this series is shorter.

Lego Masters will be sitting in the Chanel 4 timeslot previously home to The Great British Bake Off.

The show is hosted by radio DJ Melvin Odoom, who will in the Build Room to speak to the contestants as the battle against the clock with their brick creations.

What is Lego Masters on Channel 4?

Lego Masters show sees eight teams competing to build the best creation out of the plastic bricks.

Contestants have been selected from thousands of applications from across the nation.

Each week they will be given brick-related task which they will have complete in a time frame.

Host Odoom explained: “Lego Masters is a search for Britain and Ireland’s best LEGO builders.

“The teams can be anyone – a father and son, two best friends from school, last year’s series we had two Cambridge university students.

“It’s a varied mix of people who are all essentially passionate about LEGO!”

Episode one saw the teams asked to construct a 1.3m bridge without any prior warning.

To add an extra level of to the challenge, Odoom will be operating a remote controlled weighted truck across each of the bridges to test their structural integrity.

Next the teams had to make a LEGO skyscraper with the contestants getting judged on their innovation and creativity.

Who are the Lego Masters judges 2018?

There are two judges on the series this year.

Veteran judge Matthew Ashton, The LEGO Group’s Vice President of Design, will be returning for series.

Joining him this year will the scientist and engineer Fran Scott to offer her critique as well.

Speaking about serving as a judge on Lego Masters, she said: “My job is just sort of a big version of what they do on the show, I think about something, design it and then build it.

“I wanted to get involved to show that people will build and innately they know principles of engineering and physics, but they might not actually completely understand them.

“They know how to use them, but they may not even realise they’re using them.

“When you’re building something and it’s leaning to the left, you build something more up the right of it.”

Who the Lego Masters contestants 2018?

There are eight teams from a number of backgrounds who will be hoping to be crowned this year’s champions.

What Novak Djokovic did behind Roger Federer's back at Paris Masters shows one thing https://briefnews.eu/what-novak-djokovic-did-behind-roger-federers-back-at-paris-masters-shows-one-thing/ https://briefnews.eu/what-novak-djokovic-did-behind-roger-federers-back-at-paris-masters-shows-one-thing/#respond Sun, 04 Nov 2018 12:44:16 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/what-novak-djokovic-did-behind-roger-federers-back-at-paris-masters-shows-one-thing/

In a 47th meeting between the two greats, the stubborn Djokovic simply refused to be beaten as he eked out a fourth successive victory over Federer in a tiebreak decider after three compelling hours.

Djokovic took the match 7-6 5-7 7-6 to record his 25th win over the greatest player tennis history.

But it was his reaction after that said it all. Djokovic has been fiery all week in Paris – it was no different on Saturday night.

To the crowd’s annoyance – they had been firmly Team Federer – the Serb let out a huge roar after winning the tie-break decider.

Djokovic embraced Federer at the net but he wasn’t done there. The 14-time Grand Slam proceeded to start punching the air and clenching his fists again as Federer, head down, made his way back to his chair.

The celebration alone shows just how much hunger the Serb still has. The 20 Slams of Federer are still within reach.

Federer’s defeat ended his ambitions of a 100th career title as he outlasted his great adversary in an epic Paris Masters semi-final that stretched Djokovic’s remarkable unbeaten run to 22 matches.

It gave the Serbian the opportunity to mark his return to world number one on Monday by winning a record-extending fifth Paris title in Sunday’s final against Russian Karen Khachanov, who earlier crushed Dominic Thiem 6-4 6-1.

Djokovic, who had complained of competing with flu-like symptoms in his previous matches this week, was proud and relieved to repel a wonderful challenge from Federer, who appeared close to his imperious best.

“We’ve had epic matches throughout our rivalry but this one definitely ranks as one of the best matches we played. High quality tennis,” Djokovic told reporters.

“Next to the match I played against (Rafa) Nadal in the Wimbledon semis, this was definitely the most exciting match I’ve played this year, and probably the best quality match that I was part of.”

Even though he was not broken once, it was still not enough for the 37-year-old Swiss, whose nerve failed him in an anti-climactic final tiebreak in which he served a double fault and made two more careless groundstroke errors.

“For the most part I can be happy, my level was good, but losing is never fun,” said Federer. “It’s intense, it’s good tennis, we care about winning, we don’t like losing. I can tell you that right now.”

“Novak is obviously on a roll. You can feel it.”

Federer was seeking to become only the second man after Jimmy Connors to win a century of professional tour titles following his 99th win in Basel, only to fall agonisingly short.

The 20-time Grand Slam champion lost the first set despite having held set point in the tiebreak and had Djokovic in trouble in the final set when the Serb received a code violation at 4-4 for chucking his racket away in disgust after the Swiss had saved two break points.

Ultimately, though, Federer, who saved all 12 break points on his serve, saw his resilience ended as Djokovic extended his career lead over the Swiss to 25-22 after their longest-ever three-set duel.

It was the first time in their 12 years of battling that Djokovic had won four matches in succession against Federer, equalling the run that the Swiss himself had once achieved at the dawn of their rivalry.

Earlier, Khachanov showed why he is one of the finest young talents in tennis with a thunderous victory over Thiem. The pair meet in the final on Sunday.

Roger Federer: You won’t believe what Swiss legend said about the Paris Masters https://briefnews.eu/roger-federer-you-wont-believe-what-swiss-legend-said-about-the-paris-masters/ https://briefnews.eu/roger-federer-you-wont-believe-what-swiss-legend-said-about-the-paris-masters/#respond Fri, 02 Nov 2018 01:21:02 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/roger-federer-you-wont-believe-what-swiss-legend-said-about-the-paris-masters/

Federer – who booked his place in the quarter-finals of the final 1000 series event of the season – will face Japan’s Kei Nishikori next.

If he triumphs this week in the French capital, it will be his 100th ATP Tour title, leaving him nine short of Jimmy Connors’ record.

Federer has already been granted an exemption at the World Tour Finals in London next week having won a Grand Slam – the Australian Open back in January.

And the former world No 1 has made it clear where his priorities lie going into the final weeks of the season.

“I didn‘t come to Paris to win the tournament, my goal is to win in London,” he said.

Meanwhile, Greg Rusedski expects Federer to book his place in the semi-finals of the Paris Masters providing his serve holds up against Nishikori.

He said: “It’s gonna be a difficult test for Roger.

“He [Federer] didn’t serve very well.

“Nishikori returns a lot better and more consistently than Fognini.

“I think Federer has to up his level.

“Do I expect him to come through? Yes. Will it be tight? Will it be close? Yes.

“But Federer knows what he has to do and he will be much more positive on return and his movement is much better than Kevin Anderson.

“I expect him to come through. I want to see his serve per centage higher 60s to 70 if he does that, he will be comfortable and come through in two sets.”

Roger Federer caught doing THIS on camera after Fabio Fognini win at Paris Masters https://briefnews.eu/roger-federer-caught-doing-this-on-camera-after-fabio-fognini-win-at-paris-masters/ https://briefnews.eu/roger-federer-caught-doing-this-on-camera-after-fabio-fognini-win-at-paris-masters/#respond Thu, 01 Nov 2018 21:06:30 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/roger-federer-caught-doing-this-on-camera-after-fabio-fognini-win-at-paris-masters/

Federer is aiming to win the Paris Masters and eased through to the quarter-finals of the competition with a 6-4, 6-3 victory.

The 37-year-old is still gunning for tournament triumph No 100 and was too strong for his opponent in France this evening.

Roger Federer looked relaxed throughout and cameras have now caught him doing something classy after the match.

The official Paris Masters Twitter account shared footage of the veteran taking the time to sign tennis balls for his adoring fans.

Given he had just cruised through, you could have forgiven him for strolling into the changing rooms.

But the video shows Federer taking the time to pay tribute to those who watched him cruise through.

Meanwhile, speaking after the game, the 37-year-old was upbeat.

“You can’t expect too much from a third round but for us basically a first round,” Federer said.

“Fabio and myself, we haven’t played at all this week yet so when you don’t play any matches yet your rhythm is a bit off and then there’s this electricity here and everybody is expecting you to play the best tennis.

“It’s really hard to do so I think both of us were far from our best.

“But we fought with what we had and maybe at the end I served a bit better in the important moments than Fabio did.

“Off the baseline it was tough.

“He takes the ball early and can redirect very well.

“But I’m very happy because it means I’m moving on in the tournament.”

Federer’s is aiming to win the Paris Masters for just the second time in his career.

His first and only triumph came back in 2011, where he beat Jo-Wilfried Tsonga 6-1, 7-6 in the final.

Roger Federer reveals ‘turning point’ hope for Paris Masters ahead of ATP Finals https://briefnews.eu/roger-federer-reveals-turning-point-hope-for-paris-masters-ahead-of-atp-finals/ https://briefnews.eu/roger-federer-reveals-turning-point-hope-for-paris-masters-ahead-of-atp-finals/#respond Wed, 31 Oct 2018 02:41:19 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/roger-federer-reveals-turning-point-hope-for-paris-masters-ahead-of-atp-finals/

The Swiss legend claimed the 99th singles title of his illustrious career on home soil at the Swiss Indoors last week, declaring afterwards: “The relief is big, it could be a turning point.”

Basel was Federer’s first win since the Stuttgart Open in mid-June having lost in finals in Halle and Cincinnati and suffered disappointing defeats at Wimbledon and the US Open to Kevin Anderson and John Millman, as well as losing in the semi-finals of the Shanghai Masters to Borna Coric.

The 37-year-old has decided to play in Paris for the first time in 2015 but a tough draw – and potential showdowns with Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic – stand in his way of a landmark 100th title.

Yet after a tough period, Federer is feeling full of confidence and keen to continue his recent improved form going into the Finals in London next month.

Federer is a six-time winner at the season-ending event which is contested between the tour’s top-eight ranked players.

He is the most successful player in the tournament’s history, although the in-form Djokovic is only one triumph behind and the Serbian will hope to draw level with Federer as he seeks to end the year as No 1 over Nadal.

Federer has not won the ATP Finals in any of the last six years having lost three finals since then, but he hopes winning in Basel can propel a strong finish to the year in Paris and London.

He told ATP World Tour: “I’ve had not the best matches sometimes, if I look back at some of my losses in Wimbledon and maybe also in Cincinnati the way I lost, I didn’t quite enjoy that.

“Also US Open wasn’t easy, losing to Millman in the circumstances is not a good feeling obviously.

“I was happy how the Laver Cup turned around for me and also Shanghai I started to play better tennis, so I’m happy that this could be a turning point.

“You need confidence, especially in London, if you want to beat the best players in the world and I haven’t played against a lot of top-10 players this year.

“I don’t know why that is, if it’s just the luck of the draw or I haven’t played enough to get to those guys enough or maybe I’ve lost in ones I should’ve won a couple of.

“It’s been a good season overall so I’m happy I’m back to winning ways and this gets me one step closer to 100 titles which is a big goal of mine.

“Every tournament I play for the rest of my life I’ll always have a chance to reach 100 so for every tournament I’ll be super excited.

“If it happens, it’s great. If it doesn’t, it doesn’t. I’ll give it the best chance I have. Every tournament I’ll prepare the best way possible.

“It’s always nice winning titles, that’s the goal – that’s why I’m still on the tour. Sometimes it’s less about the ranking, less about reaching a semi-finals of a tournament.

“I’d rather win a tournament than reach the semis of a bigger tournament to be honest.

“Especially home tournaments, which I make a priority for me like Basel, which for me is a massive deal. Leaving a tournament without having lost is a great feeling for any athlete I believe.”

Federer faces Milos Raonic in his opening match at the Paris Masters later today.
