‘Massive step forward!’ Pimlico Plumbers boss praises GB News launch amid cancel calls https://briefnews.eu/massive-step-forward-pimlico-plumbers-boss-praises-gb-news-launch-amid-cancel-calls/ https://briefnews.eu/massive-step-forward-pimlico-plumbers-boss-praises-gb-news-launch-amid-cancel-calls/#respond Thu, 18 Feb 2021 23:06:54 +0000 https://briefnews.eu/massive-step-forward-pimlico-plumbers-boss-praises-gb-news-launch-amid-cancel-calls/

Pimlico Plumbers founder Charlie Mullins has become a voice of reason to many TV watchers in recent months, joining the likes of Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid on Good Morning Britain for a number of debates. In his latest stint on the ITV show, Charlie found himself at the centre of a row surrounding compulsory vaccines for employees, a strategy now widely being tipped in businesses up and down the country. In an exclusive interview with Express.co.uk, Charlie discussed all about the backlash he’s received from his TV stints and why he’s supporting Andrew Neil’s GB News after it faced similar cancel calls.

“If I’m being honest,” Charlie began. “Whatever I’ll come out with, you’ve got the haters and the knockers. And they’ll always be there.”

Referring to the mandatory employee vaccine debate on GMB specifically, the Pimlico Plumbers boss continued: “But most people with common sense, they listen properly to it and comment from there, but most people comment on what they think they heard (and) saw.

“They read into it how they want to read into it, and I can’t change that, you know. I expect that backlash all the time.”

Charlie did mention, however: “I think the majority of people, I believe, see where I’m coming from and eventually agree with it.”

“I don’t feel I’ve done anything wrong and it will get the economy going again,” Charlie continued.

After being on the receiving end of social media critics and trolls himself, Charlie was then asked about the reaction GB News has faced ahead of its launch.

The upcoming news channel is chaired by Andrew Neil, who has promised to deliver “individual and news-based programmes, built around very strong presenters.”

However, the channel has faced criticism from The Financial Times as being “right-leaning,” and has even had a number of famous faces threatening a boycott.

Praising further, the Pimlico Plumbers boss continued: “He’s not everybody’s cup of tea and that’s when you can tell that he knows his stuff.

“So I would say that’s a great move and I’m not sure why, again, why will people doubt it and start saying it’s going to be a bit like Fox News?

“I mean, Fox News has still got a lot of good stuff on it. So if he’s [Andrew Neil] behind it, then I think what a great thing that is.

“You know, of course, and I look forward to being on it, because, again, I think he’s a fair guy but he also calls you out if he feels you’ve not got it right.”

The Grand Tour: Jeremy Clarkson destroys fence in unaired stunt clip ‘What a massive t***’ https://briefnews.eu/the-grand-tour-jeremy-clarkson-destroys-fence-in-unaired-stunt-clip-what-a-massive-t/ https://briefnews.eu/the-grand-tour-jeremy-clarkson-destroys-fence-in-unaired-stunt-clip-what-a-massive-t/#respond Thu, 11 Jun 2020 00:53:34 +0000 https://briefnews.eu/the-grand-tour-jeremy-clarkson-destroys-fence-in-unaired-stunt-clip-what-a-massive-t/

Just one episode of The Grand Tour’s fourth season has aired so far after the trio’s trip to Russia was cancelled amid the continuing coronavirus pandemic.

In episode one, Seamen, Jeremy, James and Richard race across the Mekong Delta in Vietnam using three different boats with mixed results.

Fans are eagerly awaiting the car-obsessed cohort to return to the streaming service, with the producer for the series Andy Wilman promising their adventure to Madagascar is coming soon.

In the meantime, some hilarious behind-the-scenes clips from the previous seasons have been keeping subscribers entertained.

Among them is some unearthed footage from the fifth episode of season two, which saw Jeremy Clarkson attempt some ambitious skids around an East Sussex farm in a 2006 Subaru.

In his short segment, titled Farmkhana, Jeremy gets behind the wheel of a Subaru Impreza WRX STI.

The car boasts a 2.5-litre turbocharged ‘Boxer’ four-cylinder engine that makes 276 horsepower and allows the vehicle to go from 0-62 miles per hour in an impressive 5.2 seconds.

Jeremy’s Subaru has a top speed of 158mph and makes quick work of a wooden fence after he attempts one of his more risky manoeuvres.

Jeremy then suggests: “From now on, why can’t we just shoot everything from the other side?”

To which patient director Phil Churchward responds: “I can’t just do that, the cars turning around all the time I can’t just shoot from one side it’ll look absolutely terrible.”

The Grand Tour’s host then gives the skid another try and promptly smashes into the reconstructed gate once again.

Despite Jeremy’s second-attempt mantra, ‘carefully, carefully’, the Subaru once again skids through the gate as director Phil comments ‘He’s done it again. What a massive t***’.

The crew then have to assemble the gate three times before Jeremy finally gets his daring stunt right for the cameras.

Farmkhana has since become an infamous segment in the annals of Jeremy Clarkson’s careless driving, and fans are debating to this day whether he actually ran over and killed the farm’s sheep (Amazon have confirmed he didn’t).

Jeremy Clarkson and co are off-screens for now but fans are eagerly awaiting for the Top Gear trio to return to Amazon Prime Video with a fresh round of car-based mayhem.

The Grand Tour seasons 1-4 are available to stream on Amazon Prime Video.

The user wrote: “There are several instances sprinkled into the third season of Claire having a ‘sixth sense’ or sort of clairvoyance.”

They then went on to quote season three’s fifth episode, Freedom and Whisky.

They said: “Claire arrives back in the past to find Jamie. She gently but meaningfully touches the ‘A’ on his sign for his print shop, and seems to have one of those moments where she is feeling his presence.”

This scene is left lingering, and isn’t touched upon too much further – however later, the user went on, Jamie did something similar.

Piers Morgan blasts Meghan Markle for ‘playing massive victim card’ on GMB https://briefnews.eu/piers-morgan-blasts-meghan-markle-for-playing-massive-victim-card-on-gmb/ https://briefnews.eu/piers-morgan-blasts-meghan-markle-for-playing-massive-victim-card-on-gmb/#respond Tue, 12 Nov 2019 11:17:05 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/piers-morgan-blasts-meghan-markle-for-playing-massive-victim-card-on-gmb/

Piers Morgan has made his feelings on Meghan Markle very clear and on today’s Good Morning Britain, he unleashed yet another rant. The presenter, who was joined by Susanna Reid, didn’t seem to be holding back on the Duchess of Sussex once more.

“We need to have less very privileged, wealthy people banging on all day long about how terrible their lives are.

“The victimhood culture, spreading to the top right now.

“You have these Duchesses going on about what a victim they are – they’re not victims, they’re not.

“It’s nonsense. Try developing a stiff upper lip.”

“Saira, let me interrupt you,” Nadia began. “We all had a massive humdinger because passions are running high. Everybody feels the other side is unreasonable.

“We all have to respect like ‘you think I’m unreasonable, I think you’re unreasonable’. Right, that is accepted. But what did we do?

“We came out of our meeting this morning and said ‘oh, sorry if I was a bit heated but actually we want to talk’. That’s what they need to do in Parliament.”

Britain’s Got Talent 2019: Simon Cowell snubs former BGT winners after massive claim https://briefnews.eu/britains-got-talent-2019-simon-cowell-snubs-former-bgt-winners-after-massive-claim/ https://briefnews.eu/britains-got-talent-2019-simon-cowell-snubs-former-bgt-winners-after-massive-claim/#respond Sat, 07 Sep 2019 21:31:22 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/britains-got-talent-2019-simon-cowell-snubs-former-bgt-winners-after-massive-claim/

Britain’s Got Talent: The Champions brought another collection of contestants to the forefront this evening to battle it out as the best act on the show.

The huge array of acts consisted of singers, dancer, ventriloquists, and comedians.

One of the stranger acts came from Germany – an 11-year-old girl named Alexa Lauenburger and her eight dogs.

Alexa brought an intricate and highly-choreographed routine to the stage with her dogs to the tune of The Greatest Showman.

The act included the dogs working together to perform jumps, and even an eight-dog conga line.

It was so well received by hosts Ant and Dec that it garnered the much-coveted Golden Buzzer, sending Alexa and her puppy pals straight to the final.

However during Simon Cowell’s praise he seemed to snub a previous winner of Britain’s Got Talent.

The media mogul announced: “You at your age – to have that relationship with those gorgeous, gorgeous dogs is absolutely amazing.

“This is the best dog act I have ever ever seen!”

However fans of the show were quick to point out the other major dog act that has graced the stage with their paws: Ashleigh and Pudsey.

The duo won the competition back in 2012, and went down in history as the first dog act to win the competition.

Simon continued by adding: “This is one of the best acts we’ve ever had.”

Fans of the show were ecstatic over the act as well, as one wrote: “Well that makes Pudsey look right s**t!! (god rest his soul) #BGTChampions #Alexa #BGT.”

Another added: “B****y hell that German lass has put Pudsey to shame wow #bgt #BritainFirst #BGTChampions.”

Later in the show Jai McDowall returned to the stage to complete his act once again – but Simon recently told The Sun he had to apologise for slamming the act in 2011.

He told the publication: “I did feel when I saw him again that he’s the definition of a proud man.

“He didn’t sulk — he just came back to prove a point. And he did. I knew I had to apologise to him at that moment.

“It gave me a chance to say something publicly I should have said some time ago.

“But it was also the fact he had the guts to come back and compete, knowing I wasn’t that supportive the first time he was on the show.

Britain’s Got Talent: The Champions continues tonight at 8.30pm on ITV.

Younger Writer Breaks Down Liza’s ‘Massive’ Season Finale Surprise https://briefnews.eu/younger-writer-breaks-down-lizas-massive-season-finale-surprise/ https://briefnews.eu/younger-writer-breaks-down-lizas-massive-season-finale-surprise/#respond Thu, 05 Sep 2019 10:08:13 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/younger-writer-breaks-down-lizas-massive-season-finale-surprise/

Wednesday’s season finale of Younger gave fans a moment they’ve been waiting for — or dreading, depending on their team of choice — for years.

Let’s get right to it: Inspired by the romantic vibes of Diana and Enzo’s wedding, Charles asked Liza to marry him, a question she didn’t exactly have time to answer before being (mercifully!) interrupted by a swarm of dancers. Perhaps she was still flustered from her previous conversation with Josh, during which she forbade him from mass-producing the hourglass tattoo he designed for her.

Elsewhere in the episode, Lauren’s lady parts had a nasty run-in with a questionable ice sculpture, and Kelsey agreed to return to Millennial after very briefly joining forces with Quinn. She even let herself feel something for Zane, which is a pretty major step up.

Below, writer Don Roos answers some of our burning questions about the finale, including how Liza manages to keep getting away with all this emotional manipulation:

TVLINE | Let’s start with the most important thing: Who came up with the idea for that ice sculpture?
I don’t remember who decided it would be an ice sculpture, but Joe Murphy definitely thought it should be a fish coming out of a toilet to capture both halves of the marriage. I have to give him crazy credit for that. Joe’s also the writer who decided to have Debi Mazar actually sink into a peat bog when they all went to Ireland.

TVLINE | I mean, I’ve seen A Christmas Story, so I knew things weren’t going to end well for Lauren.
We needed that comedy story in Episode 12. When you get to the end of a Younger season, there are a lot of dramatic stories to wrap up, so we always find that we need something to balance out the emotion of everything going on. The finales are usually relationship-heavy, so you need a palate cleanser.

TVLINE | And who better to cleanse our palate than Lauren?
She’s so great, and she can say anything. That character can say the most outrageous things and you forgive her, because she exists in an alternate reality. She reminds me of Phoebe on Friends; she’s not inhabiting the same world as everybody else.

TVLINE | OK, onto the proposal. This is a huge moment for the show. Were you feeling the pressure as you wrote the episode?
I was feeling the pressure. I forget what the original version of the story was, but [creator Darren Star] came to me when we were shooting Episode 8 and said, “I have a new idea for the ending. Here’s what it is.” And he told me how it would be, almost line for line. It just came out of him. So I went home and wrote it down, and that’s exactly what we filmed. So I can’t take credit for the big moment — I was just trying to live up to what Darren had envisioned.

TVLINE | It certainly felt like a massive undertaking.
We had a lot of fun that day. It was hot, and we were at some huge mansion about 30 miles out of Manhattan. There was so much to get done that day: There was the scene between Josh and Liza in the bar, we had to make sure Diana and Enzo were serviced correctly, we had to do the payoff with the ice sculpture, and we had to hint that Maggie and Lauren’s relationship may be starting up again. And after all that, while we’re on the dance floor with all of these extras and playback and a band, we had to get this proposal just right. It was a massive, massive day. I think we shot until 2 am that day.

TVLINE | Is it bad that I’m starting to get really frustrated with Liza’s indecisiveness?
We say that in the writers’ room all the time. Like, how are we getting away with this? And the answer is always: Sutton Foster. Liza is the most infuriating woman, and she could be [less endearing] in the hands of somebody else. But there’s such a good naturedness about Sutton as a person, and it comes through in her character — even when Liza is torturing someone unnecessarily. She doesn’t mean to.

TVLINE | The scene at the bar between Josh and Liza was so painful to watch. Was any of it hard to write?
She’s just so divided, equally, between Josh and Charles. She cannot let go of Josh. She’s just a human being who had something very special with Josh. She met him in the first episode, it was the first person she met as her new self, and it was kind of like imprinting — like when a baby duckling looks up at its mother. They bonded, and she can’t let it go. There was something about that tattoo that she didn’t want to be public property. It doesn’t mean she doesn’t love Charles; she just doesn’t want that memento from her relationship with Josh to be spread all over town. I actually found it easy to write this scene because I understood where she was coming from.

TVLINE | I don’t know, I still feel like she’s preventing him from pursuing a good opportunity.
My feeling is, “Go dream up another tattoo, Josh.” I’m on her side. Do a little turtle, do a heart with wings, do a skull — do whatever you want. But not that one. And she isn’t just keeping him from a professional opportunity. By saying all of this, she’s also keeping him from moving on and finding somebody else. But like I said, there is nobody like Liza.

TVLINE | Lastly, Kelsey and Zane’s relationship is hard to nail down. How would you say they are after this finale?
We always thought of this as Kelsey finally softening and letting herself be vulnerable with Zane. We’ve always felt that Zane loves her. They’re so well-matched; they’re both very driven and competitive. Neither wants to be bested by the other. But I think Kelsey is finally letting him in. She’s had to rely on herself all her life, so she’s not used to letting her guard down. What will happen next season between them? I don’t know. But he certainly declared his feelings for her, then let her make the next move — and she made it.

Outlander season 5: Stars tease MASSIVE return in unearthed anniversary pics https://briefnews.eu/outlander-season-5-stars-tease-massive-return-in-unearthed-anniversary-pics/ https://briefnews.eu/outlander-season-5-stars-tease-massive-return-in-unearthed-anniversary-pics/#respond Sat, 10 Aug 2019 23:17:46 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/outlander-season-5-stars-tease-massive-return-in-unearthed-anniversary-pics/

Fans are chomping at the bit for Outlander to return so they can find out what’s next for the Fraser family and especially now Brianna Randall Fraser (played by Sophie Skelton) and her husband Roger MacKenzie (Richard Rankin) have been reunited.

But now STARZ executives have revealed season five won’t be launching on the network, and as a result, Amazon Prime in the UK, until early 2020, many are searching out tidbits to keep them going through the rest of “Draughtlander”.

Luckily Jamie Fraser star Sam Heughan and the show’s official Twitter account are on hand to give fans what they’re looking for.

Scottish actor Sam shared the show’s images in honour of the time-travelling hit’s five-year anniversary on his Instagram stories today, and while many of the stills have already been seen, one depicted the Frasers standing happily with Young Ian (John Bell).

Viewers remember the youngster completed his journey in season four by rescuing 20th Century historian Roger from the Mohawk tribe.

After months of gruelling travelling and searching for the character, whom Ian had wrongly sold to the tribe at Jamie’s request to deal with the man he believed to have raped his daughter Brianna, the Frasers were triumphant.

Unfortunately the tribe were unwilling to let Roger go so easily, prompting Young Ian to make a big decision.

Jamie shared an emotional goodbye with his nephew, and many were left wondering if the character would ever return to the series.

Do the images confirm Young Ian’s return in season five, giving the Fraser family a happy reunion?

Unfortunately, it’s not clear if the images are simply throwbacks from the cast posing on set during filming season four, but they still might have slipped in a sneak peak for season five.

Speaking to reporters in Los Angeles about the decision to delay season five’s release, the boss explained it was to cater to the right audiences.

Peaky Blinders season 5: Tommy Shelby’s fate confirmed in massive creator bombshell https://briefnews.eu/peaky-blinders-season-5-tommy-shelbys-fate-confirmed-in-massive-creator-bombshell/ https://briefnews.eu/peaky-blinders-season-5-tommy-shelbys-fate-confirmed-in-massive-creator-bombshell/#respond Sun, 04 Aug 2019 06:06:07 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/peaky-blinders-season-5-tommy-shelbys-fate-confirmed-in-massive-creator-bombshell/

Peaky Blinders fans have spent four seasons watching the Shelby family go through all manner of horror, and been the cause of much of it themselves.

No one was expecting the beloved Grace Shelby (Annabelle Wallis) – Tommy’s (Cillian Murphy) wife and mother of his son – to be killed in season three of the BBC period drama.

And there was continued heartbreak in season four when John Shelby (Joe Cole) was murdered in a shower of bullets by the Italian mafia.

It even seemed in the season four finale like Arthur Shelby (Paul Anderson) had also been killed in the middle of a boxing match, and viewers were already devastated over the loss.

But it turned out his death was an elaborate ruse concocted by Tommy to rid the family of their Italian enemies once and for all.

Given the gangsta drama’s history fans are already uneasy over what season five has in store.

But they needn’t be worried according to executive producer Steven.

The genius writer told Express.co.uk and other media that all the main Shelby players will survive til the final episode of the entire series.

Does this mean Tommy is completely safe from harm as his journey into the 1930s goes forward?

Or was the show’s creator simply trying to throw fans off the scene so they’ll be bowled over when the real surprises come?

READ MORE: Peaky Blinders season 5: Tommy Shelby killed by dangerous enemy?

Asked directly if Polly, Arthur, Ayda (Sophie Rundle) and Tommy are all going to make it to the end of the series, Steven’s answer was surprisingly direct.

Leaning forward, the creator declared: “Yes.”

“Oh my agent is here!” Helen joked. “Thank you kind sir. Steve?” As the creator nodded and confirmed that all the main Shelby characters would survive once more.

But Helen shook her head at the comments, warning people, “He’s not going to tell you is he?”

What is the truth? Fans will have to wait to find out if the executive producer faces a change of heart along the way.

Star Helen McCrory was then reminded about a line from a previous series where Aunt Polly had seemingly lost everything.

She said: “‘I’ve killed a man, lost a man, lost a son, gained a son, nearly lost my own life…” and was asked what more she could do in season five.

“Oh yeah don’t take my plotline away from me!” Helen exclaimed jokingly. “She can go through a lot! You’re not gonna be my agent! Yeah I think that’s what’s interesting about her, you know, as you say her relationships with men, Steve has given that to Tommy and to Polly and actually the women and the men in Peaky Blinders do try and find love.

“They’re not… for Tommy… everybody likes being solitary but I feel like people like being alone, and that’s true for this family. And they are all searching for love. And he plays with this whole idea of, can a bad person become good? If a bad person does a good act, does that make the act bad? These people – even gun-wielding, eye slitters, need a bit of love,” the star added with a smile.

Peaky Blinders season five returns to BBC One later this year.
