What lies beneath the waves? It’s a question all of us have when we go to the beach, but the characters in Warner Bros.’ upcoming The Meg aren’t going to like the answer. A 70-foot shark called a megalodon that was long thought to be extinct has surfaced again, and only a Navy diver played by Jason Statham can save the day.

A new photo from the film has made its way online, along with a story from Statham about how he swam with real sharks to prepare for his role.

Director Jon Turteltaub‘s last three films were National Treasure: Book of Secrets, the all-but-forgotten 2010 live-action version of The Sorcerer’s Apprentice, and the old guy comedy Last Vegas. But his future is looking bright with The Meg, because who wouldn’t want to see Statham face off against a giant prehistoric shark?

That gives you a bit of an idea of the scale of this beast, which is far larger than the shark in Steven Spielberg’s Jaws. But bigger doesn’t always necessarily mean better, and with a trailer for The Meg coming this Monday, that should give us a better sense of what to expect when the film debuts this summer. The film has been in the works since the late ’90s – that header image is concept art from an abandoned version of the movie.

EW also has a quote from Statham about how he swam with actual sharks in order to prep for his character:

“On the early stages of the prep, we took a trip to Fiji, and we went diving with some bull sharks. They hand-feed them and it’s a spectacular thing to see. These things are three meters in length, huge big things. There were 20 or 30 of these things, and they were hand-feeding [them] big tuna heads, and we got very, very close, and it was a spectacular moment. To swim in close proximity to a big, three-meter shark, is to be recommended to all and everyone.”

In the film, which is based on Steve Alten’s 1997 novel, Statham plays a U.S. Navy diver named Jonas Taylor. But the British actor already has quite a history being in the water, since he was on the British national diving team before he began his acting career:

He’ll be doing a different type of diving here – and hopefully drop-kicking the shark in the jaw at some point, too.

The Meg will chomp its way into theaters on August 10, 2018.

Diablo creator David Brevik is finally ready to show off what he’s been working on for two years at his indie studio Graybeard Games. It Lurks Below is a sandbox game that takes its cue from Re-Logic’s Terraria in both gameplay and style. Two hundred players will have access to its closed beta from Friday to Monday evening, and Brevik plans to livestream himself playing the game at various times this weekend on his Twitch channel.

Garybead hasn’t released much about It Lurks Below. It mashes up gameplay from Terraria alongside Diablo mechanics. Screenshots feature a retro pixel art aesthetic with characters wielding guns, defending homesteads, and fighting monsters in gold-studded mines.

Brevik created the iconic action role-playing game Diablo at his studio, Condor, which eventually became a part of Blizzard Entertainment and adopted the name Blizzard North. The game was hugely successful when it launched in 1996, selling over 2.5 million copies and popularizing the real-time action RPG genre. It eventually spawned two sequels — Diablo II and Diablo III, which has sold over 30 million copies in its lifetime.

Since Brevik’s early days at Blizzard North, he’s founded and joined other companies including Gazillion Entertainment. He went independent in January 2016 and founded Graybeard. His story seems to follow the trend of triple-A talent taking the plunge into indie games. Graybeard is a solo effort, and Brevik says that it’s challenging but rewarding.

“It’s humbling going from large teams making content based on huge properties like Marvel to a one-man team with a brand new idea no one has heard of yet — but I’m loving every minute of the process,” said Brevik in a statement. “It’s all very exciting … and a little bit scary, too. I’ve always been a huge proponent of community involvement in game creation, and I heartily welcome all feedback from players and Twitch-stream viewers — anything that can make It Lurks Below the best it can possibly be.”

Terraria released in 2011 for PC, though it has rolled out to iOS, Android, and a plethora of other consoles since then. It’s sold over 20 million copies and inspired other games besides It Lurks Below, such as Chucklefish’s sci-fi sandbox title Starbound.

In the day and age where selfies reign it’s all about capturing the perfect shot. 

This group managed to beat all odds with their travel picture. 

In serious contention for the best travel selfie ever, this image has quickly gone viral since it was shared online. 

The top half of the image appeared to be a familiar sight. 

Six women dressed in colourful bikinis stood facing the camera, some with their hands in the air to pose for the picture. 

They were all standing on the edge of a shiny white boat in the middle of the sea. 

But one look beneath the boat revealed even more people in the picture. 

Not one but six men were all under the boat, directly below the line of sight of the women. 

One of the men was taking the incredible selfie with one hand as his other arm stretched out behind him. 

All the other men were also managing to strike poses while holding their breath underneath the surface of the water. 

The impressively timed photo has gone viral since it was shared online. 

Uploaded to Imgur, it’s been viewed more than 210,000 times, with hundreds of users sharing their reactions.

Scott and Kourtney even joined Kim Kardashian and her daughter on a helicopter ride. In the course of the trip, the two looked like they were getting along well as they took turns at handling the parenting responsibilities of their three children. Scott carried the youngest in his arms as Kourtney held the hands of seven-year-old Mason and four-year-old Penelope.

New Year reunion

This is not the first time the formerly estranged couple are enjoying time together. Towards the end of last year, the two took a trip to Aspen, Colorado with their children. Scott is also understood to have put up his bachelor pad in Hidden Hills, California for sale which has led to speculation that he is keen on rejoining his family.

The couple split in mid-2015 after Kourtney found out that Scott had been cheating on her. Late last year, there were rumors that the two had moved in together. However, Kourtney was said to be going about it cautiously.

During the Costa Rica vacation, Scott warmed hearts when he shared a photo of his co-parent making their two-year-old son, Reign, comfortable on the chopper ride. ‘Mom’ was the caption he gave the snap.

Party boy goes to Sundance

However, there were fears there would be no mending of fences when rumors started swirling around last weekend during the Sundance Film Festival that Scott selfishly partied the weekend away. It is understood that during the famed film festival he rented a house which he filled with women. If the rumors are true, then Scott managed to get away with murder as he was not disinvited from the trip.

The fears were real though as around that time Kourtney posted a picture of herself flaunting her enviable figure in a white bikini just after arriving in Costa Rica. This was as if to let Scot know what he was missing. The eldest Kardashian sister who is the only one to have graduated from college looked lean and ravishing as she posed against a background of bamboo stems.

As Kris Jenner recently let in on the family’s relationship on a radio interview in which she seemed to have a soft spot for the 33-year old.

“We knew Scott when he was 20 years old. He was a very young man, he was a baby! He was younger than Kendall is now for goodness sake. They started a relationship very young and had three beautiful children. His parents both died in the same year a few years ago. He’s been through a lot. I think he’s had a bit of a challenging time. He’s one of my kids, what can I say?” the Kardashian matriarch revealed.

The upper part of her body was covered by a striped bandeau top which had a bow front.

More photographic evidence of the reality star who graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Theatre Arts from the University of Arizona showed her relaxing on a rocking chair with a male friend (whose first name is not Scott) later while wearing the same outfit.

Not everyone is attending the Kardashian family getaway in Costa Rica, though. Among those who are absent is Kanye West, Caitlyn Jenner, Blac Chyna and Rob Kardashian.
