This has already felt like the longest season in RuPaul’s Drag Race herstory, and Friday’s episode did nothing to change that.

Fresh off the elimination of Olivia Lux, the four remaining queens — Gottmik, Kandy Muse, Rosé and Symone — assembled in the werkroom to brace for their final challenge, immediately theorizing about the surprises still remaining up Ru’s sleeve.

“It could be that one of us goes home, it could be that two of us go home, it could be that none of us go home — we don’t know!” Symone said, though I think we all knew it was going end up being option No. 3. Seriously, did anyone think that only three queens would make it to the finale?

For their final challenge, the queens were tasked with writing, recording and performing their own verse to Mama Ru’s “Lucky,” complete with choreography by Jamal Sims. The end result was a fun, colorful music video that really featured all four girls in their best light. Gottmik delivered a spoken verse that remained inspiring without getting too cheesy, Kandy looked back on her journey “from the hood to Hollywood,” Symone served more attitude than anyone else, and Rosé… can rap? Is that what that was? Honestly, everybody slayed this in their own way, but if I had to pick a winner, it’d be another Symone/Rosé split.

The queens also appeared as guests on RuPaul and Michelle Visage’s new Inside Drag Race segment. (Don’t worry, there were still plenty of Tic-Tacs to not go around.) Rosé insisted that Jan will be more supportive than jealous of her success on the show, Kandy defended herself against haters who feel she hasn’t earned her spot in the Top 4, Gottmik admitted that her drag name may or may not have a porn star connection, and Symone looked back on her own journey of self-acceptance.

There was also some emotional kiki-ing as the queens prepared to hit the main stage one last time. Gottmik said this whole experience has taught her not to feel pressured as a representative of the trans male community. “I’ve learned that the best way to represent your community is just by being you,” she said. “The pressure’s just unnecessary.”

That revelation resonated with Symone, who explained, “I’ve had to unpack a lot of things about myself. I was a very lonely and very shy kid. I didn’t love myself. To come to this competition and to blossom into the Symone that everyone sees… I finally see it. And let me tell you, when you finally get on the other side, it is a beautiful feeling. Nobody can take that from me. I love me, and I can say that. I can say that now.” (BRB, sobbing.)

Now, for the runway: “Drag Excellence!” Mik gott things started in a form-fitting, Cruella de Vil-approved spotted dress; Kandy followed with a “fun, sexy, flirty” little number; Rosé paid tribute to her Scottish heritage in a gown made entirely of tartan; and Symone closed the show in a stunning purple gown with enormous sleeves that screamed “royalty!” in surround sound. The judges, of course, didn’t have a single negative thing to say about any of the queens’ looks. (I thought Symone’s was great, Rosé’s was good, Gottmik’s was fun and Kandy’s was a choice.)

Then came the final gag of the evening: Not only did all four queens have to lip sync for their lives, but they had to do it individually. Thus began a montage of four separate performances to Whitney Houston’s “I Learned From the Best” (HQ2 Radio Remix) — a song I have absolutely, 100-percent heard before. Like the girls’ performances in the music video, what is there to even critique about this? They all went the dramatic route, they were all fully committed, and I wasn’t the least bit surprised when Ru announced that they would all be staying for the finale.

Did Friday’s episode play out as you expected? Which topics are you excited to explore in next week’s reunion? And which queen do you expect to win it all, regardless of you think should win? Weigh in via our polls below, then drop a comment with all of your thoughts.

Joe, on the other hand, had only accumalated £400 in his prize fund with the same number of drops as Henry.

However, by this point, Melody hadn’t even had a go at the machine but when she finally got her chance, she may have wished she didn’t.

With her first counter plunged into drop zone one, Melody urged her counter on, saying: “Jeez, Louise.”

Ben similarly offered some encouragement: “That was in a rush to get down… and it’s over the top shelf.”

“Without a shadow of a doubt, it’s worth £8,000,” he revealed as the guest exclaimed: “How fantastic, that dear little ring.”

“It’s all about the luminous Anglo-Catholic excitement from an architect designer and absolutely someone central to the identity of the United Kingdom. Apart from that it’s of no interest really,” Geoffrey joked.

The owner concluded: “To hear that story of how much this tiny ring really means, how it condensed a whole big story like that, how lucky are we to own it?”

‘Very lucky, but they won’t care’ – Schmeichel on deflected Swedish winner against Switzerland https://briefnews.eu/very-lucky-but-they-wont-care-schmeichel-on-deflected-swedish-winner-against-switzerland/ https://briefnews.eu/very-lucky-but-they-wont-care-schmeichel-on-deflected-swedish-winner-against-switzerland/#respond Tue, 03 Jul 2018 16:58:11 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/very-lucky-but-they-wont-care-schmeichel-on-deflected-swedish-winner-against-switzerland/ Peter Schmeichel says Sweden’s deflected goal which earned them a World Cup win over Switzerland and a place in the quarter-finals was “lucky,” but added the Swedes won’t mind how they booked their place in the last eight.

Sweden ran out 1-0 winners in St. Petersburg when Emil Forsberg’s strike on 66 minutes deflected off the right boot of Swiss defender Manuel Akanji and into the net.

Former Denmark goalkeeper Schmeichel said the nature of the goal was somewhat fortunate, as Swiss ‘keeper Yann Sommer had the ball covered.

“You have to feel really sorry for (Manuel) Akanji, who deflected the ball past Yann Sommer,” Schmeichel said.

“Forsberg hit it quite well… but it would have gone straight to Yann Sommer, he would have saved it easily.

“He’s actually been one of the best goalkeepers at this tournament, he made a couple of really good saves in this game… he would have just picked this ball up,” the former Manchester United player added.

“This is what happens when you stick your foot out to try to block the shot.

“So very unfortunate, very lucky for Sweden, they scored the goal, winning the game on that and now in the in the quarter-finals. That really is a fantastic result for Sweden,” he added.

With the result, Sweden booked their place in the last eight of the World Cup for the first time since 1994, when they went on to finish third.

The Swedes were denied a chance to double their lead deep into injury time, when a penalty was initially awarded by referee Damir Skomina when Swiss defender Michael Lang pushed over Martin Olsson with the Swede bearing down on goal.

However, the decision was reversed to a free-kick with the help of VAR – although Lang still received his marching orders.

The game ended 1-0, but Schmeichel said the scoreline and gritty nature of the win in a game characterized by poor finishing would matter little to the army of Swedish fans in Russia and back home.

“I can tell you 100 percent, the Swedish people don’t care, they won 1-0, they are in the quarter-finals,” Schmeichel said.

Sweden will now face the winners of the England versus Colombia game in Moscow later on Tuesday.

Lucky Man season 3: James Nesbitt new super villain nemesis REVEALED for upcoming series https://briefnews.eu/lucky-man-season-3-james-nesbitt-new-super-villain-nemesis-revealed-for-upcoming-series/ https://briefnews.eu/lucky-man-season-3-james-nesbitt-new-super-villain-nemesis-revealed-for-upcoming-series/#respond Mon, 28 May 2018 18:03:47 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/lucky-man-season-3-james-nesbitt-new-super-villain-nemesis-revealed-for-upcoming-series/

James Nesbitt’s character DI Harry Clayton was left in a bad way in the finale of Lucky Man’s second season.

After Eve (played by Sienna Guillory) finally stole the lucky bracelet from Harry, she appeared to launch the magical trinket into the River Thames.

And although fans were left on this heartbreaking cliffhanger, things are about to get even worse for Harry.

It has been announced Harry will have even more problems in the upcoming third season as he will be put up against his very own nemesis.

Rupert Penry-Jones has been cast as Samuel Blake, a villain who has embarked on a lifelong mission to acquire the lucky bracelets for his evildoings.

While Harry does not currently have his bracelet, he will surely be target number one when Blake arrives on scene to acquire what he thinks is rightfully his.

Rupert recently spoke about his inclusion in the series and said: “I’m thrilled to be joining the cast of Lucky Man for an exciting third series.

“The conniving Samuel Blake is a great character to play who offers all the action, destruction and rivalry you can expect from a classic Stan Lee villain!”

However Harry will not be left in London looking for his bracelet, as he will venture to Hong Kong to discover the secret behind the mystical charm.

But Harry won’t be safe there either, as he becomes enthralled in a world filled with underworld characters who are looking for more than his bracelet.

On the change of scenery, James commented: “Stan Lee’s Lucky Man is such an exciting series to make and the scripts for this season are brilliant.

“Harry Clayton’s luck is running out which throws up some interesting storylines. And also takes him, and me, to Hong Kong – the perfect setting for Stan Lee mayhem!”

As tensions continue to rise throughout the series, Harry may find himself between multiple evils as he tries to reclaim the power of luck.

But will Blake find his way to the power of the bracelet before Harry does?

Alternatively, could the pair both find new luck powers, leaving them to battle in the streets?

If the pair embark on a classic hero and villain rivalry, could their mass use of powers attract other superpowered beings from the Marvel universe?

Marvel’s Agents of Shield follows SHIELD, an organisation which protects the public from super powers.

Could the Agents appear in upcoming Lucky Man episodes to tackle the upcoming Samuel Blake arc?

Lucky Man season 3 is expected to begin in July on Sky One.

Arsene Wenger: Arsenal were lucky to progress against CSKA Moscow in Europa League https://briefnews.eu/arsene-wenger-arsenal-were-lucky-to-progress-against-cska-moscow-in-europa-league/ https://briefnews.eu/arsene-wenger-arsenal-were-lucky-to-progress-against-cska-moscow-in-europa-league/#respond Thu, 12 Apr 2018 22:17:54 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/arsene-wenger-arsenal-were-lucky-to-progress-against-cska-moscow-in-europa-league/

CSKA were on the brink of becoming the third side in Europe this week to wipe out a three-goal deficit in the second leg as Arsenal froze in Moscow for 76 minutes.

Goals either side of half time from Fedor Chalov and Kirill Nababkin put the tie on a knife edge – the away goal for CSKA at the Emirates a week earlier meaning another goal would have put the Russians through.

And with the noisy crowd behind their opponents, Arsenal looked in danger of having to fight all the way before Danny Welbeck eased their nerves 14 minutes from time only for Aaron Ramsey to put some gloss on the result with a second in injury time.

“We were in trouble in the first half,” said Arsenal manager Wenger. “I feel that maybe we were a bit surprised by the intensity at the start.

WHEN IS THE EUROPA LEAGUE DRAW?

“After moving to a back five we were more stable, didn’t concede as many chances.

“Of course it should be every year we get to semi-finals – it should be every year! It is never enough. But we need to be focused. Let’s prepare well for the next round and see who we get.”

Welbeck, understandably pleased with a goal that takes him into double-figures for the season, insisted Arsenal realised it was not going to be easy.

“It wasn’t comfortable, we have seen in Europe how difficult it can be coming into games with an advantage,” he said. “It was difficult today, away from home in different conditions, but we stuck through it.

“Then with the goal, the defender was tight to me, he thought I would go inside like before, I went to the other side, played the one-two with Mohamed Elneny, knew it would beat the defender and finished it nicely.”

Nevertheless, skipper Laurent Koscielny admitted that Arsenal’s players had not been good enough on the night overall.

“It was not the plan,” he said. “I think we missed a lot of movement, to be available for our team-mates. We didn’t win duels. They played well, had opportunities and took them. It put pressure on us, if they score we are out.

“So I am happy because we came back, but our performance was not enough for the stage of the competition. We will see the draw, but need more confidence in our game.”

Arsenal join Red Bull Salzburg, Marseille and favourites Atletico Madrid in today’s draw, with the winners of the competition guaranteed a coveted place in the Champions League next season.

“Ideally we want to avoid Atletico,” said Wenger. “Maybe they are the strongest on paper, but let’s play well against the team we get.”
