Ivanka Trump, 36, is the unofficial First Daughter of the US, being the eldest daughter of President Donald Trump.

Having just announced the closure of her eponymous fashion brand, Ivanka has well and truly turned her attention to politics.

Showing how serious she is about her senior adviser position, she joined Donald on a tour of US factories and manufactures in Iowa and Illinois.

The statuesque blonde posted a series of images documenting the trip to her Instagram account.

The images show Ivanka and her father spending some quality time together, as they tour the industries in the Midwest.

Revealing she enjoyed herself on the tour, Ivanka captioned the images: Thank you Dubuque, Iowa and Granite City, Illinois!”

The snaps show a beaming father and daughter touring the businesses, photographed in front of a “Pledge to America’s Workers” backdrop.

One image shows Donald grinning to the camera, holding a logo-emblazoned hat up in the air, while Ivanka beams and claps for him.

Others show the father-daughter duo touring factories wearing hard hats and protective eyewear, with Ivanka still managing to look perfectly preened.

Donald was also snapped showing his appreciation for his daughter, resting his hand on her upper arm.

The mother-of-three also met with workers, families and locals, appearing in her element as she shook hands and chatted with the crowds.

During the visit, Ivanka wore a stunning navy blue and white polka dot dress, reminiscent of Minnie Mouse.

The gorgeous summery dress featured large white collars, on both her neck and wrists and an over-sized white waist belt, showing off her tiny frame.

The flowing dress came to just above her ankles, and was buttoned to the top with stand-out white buttons.

Her glossy blonde hair was perfectly straight and parted down the middle, not faltering after wearing a hard hat and touring open furnaces.

The snaps were posted on Ivanka’s Instagram account, attracting much attention from her 4.4 million followers.

Many showed their praise for the 36-year-old, with one writing: “Thank you Ivanka, for all of your work!”

Others showed hope for the US economy, posting: “Breathing life back into our economy, and that right soon.”

It’s been a family-oriented week for Ivanka, who recently expressed her joy at her brother-in-law Josh Kushner’s engagement to supermodel Karlie Kloss.

Leaving a loving comment on Karlie’s engagement image, Ivanka called the stunning supermodel her “sister”.

Let’s block ads! (Why?)

It all started in April, when a meteor slowly made its way towards a cataclysmic collision with the game’s iconic island battlefield. Every day, the meteor got a little closer.

It all ended recently with a dramatic meteor shower that left craters all over the map and leveled the Dusty Depot area. The impact marked the beginning of Season 4, the current phase of the game. Every new season brings new rewards to unlock, new weapons, and new challenges.

The changes after the meteor impact was so huge that most players assumed that Epic Games, the creators of “Fortnite,” were done messing with the map.

Not so: Epic Games has not stopped adding new easter eggs and places to explore — many of them themed around superheroes, the theme of the game’s current season. And Fortnite fans are digging deep, trying to figure out what the heck is going on.

Here are a few of the newest developments to the “Fortnite” map since the meteor hit:

One of the first changes fans immediately noticed was this mysterious hatch, which was added to the map just days after Season 4 began.

Epic Games

The hatch is located in Wailing Woods, a rural and relatively low-traffic area of the Fortnite map, right next to the hedge maze.

So far, no one has been able to open the hatch and see what’s inside, including an intrepid Reddit user who dug into the game’s coding to see what hints they may contain— but was ultimately unsuccessful.

Curious players will simply have to wait for Epic Games to reveal what’s down the hatch, or for some other adventurous player to uncover its mysteries.

With tens of millions of people playing”Fortnite,” it’s hard to keep anything under wraps for very long. Players logging in after the new season began also immediately noticed a handful of new underground superheroic lairs.

The sky-blue theme and mysterious, yet grand, symbol mounted on the wall make many players feel like this lair belongs to a superhero. This one in particular is located underneath a mansion, giving some Batman vibes.

Reporters at Kotaku provided detailed descriptions of each of the lairs discovered so far, and where to find them.

…and, perhaps, some super villains are involved, too. This lair is visible from the air while parachuting in, thanks to the massive, menacing-looking missile sticking out.

The dark purple motif gives this lair an evil-genius-vibe.

If “Fortnite” players thought the meteor was catastrophic, they definitely won’t want to be around when this bad boy goes off.

This Week In Trailers: Ghosthunter, China Salesman, Loving Pablo, Path of Blood, World 1-1 https://briefnews.eu/this-week-in-trailers-ghosthunter-china-salesman-loving-pablo-path-of-blood-world-1-1/ https://briefnews.eu/this-week-in-trailers-ghosthunter-china-salesman-loving-pablo-path-of-blood-world-1-1/#respond Mon, 14 May 2018 06:02:22 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/this-week-in-trailers-ghosthunter-china-salesman-loving-pablo-path-of-blood-world-1-1/ Green Band Trailer

Trailers are an under-appreciated art form insofar that many times they’re seen as vehicles for showing footage, explaining films away, or showing their hand about what moviegoers can expect. Foreign, domestic, independent, big budget: What better way to hone your skills as a thoughtful moviegoer than by deconstructing these little pieces of advertising?

This week we watch a man chase the ghost of his father, try to understand the impact Atari had on video gaming, silently watch terrorism as it unfolds, get another story about Pablo Escobar, and watch Mike Tyson and Steven Seagal gloriously duke it out.

Ghosthunter

This is the kind of small, intimate story that is wildly compelling. Director Ben Lawrence is not just following a guy who hunts ghosts, but as the trailer unfolds, you are quick to understand that this goes a lot deeper. A story of a shattered family, the cops, all coated a thick dollop of sadness, this becomes a tale that seems more mystery than it is a biography. We all carry stories that define who we are, but this is one that feels particularly unique. A little intrigue goes a long way with me, and this trailer delivers.

World 1-1

It was smart to make Steve Jobs the thumbnail image for this trailer if for no other reason than to get some incremental notice. Directed by Jeanette Garcia (III) and Daryl Rodriguez, this documentary series will focus on the history of video games and landed on Atari as its first subject. There’s a lot of slack in this trailer as we linger too long on some shots, to say nothing of how some of these interview subjects were shot, but I’m won over by nostalgia and its charm. There is some comfort in knowing that a documentary like this is out there simply because it would be the perfect background as you put together a piece of IKEA furniture.

Path of Blood

As you watch this trailer for a documentary about terrorists, it’s haunting how there is no narration. The effect of this is curious. It removes a safe barrier from clinically dissecting what we see and, instead, throws us headlong into the reality of what is happening on the ground. Directed by Jonathan Hacker, and executive produced by Mark Boal of Zero Dark Thirty fame, this documentary gives the kind of look into warfare that is unsanitized. And that appears to be by design.

From the film’s site:

Adopting a strictly objective approach, the film doesn’t editorialize and contains no interviews or “talking heads” commentary. The home video footage was shot by the terrorists themselves, allowing viewers to see them in all their complexity, while compelling audiences to draw their own conclusions.

Some people want their warfare sanitized, but this is the kind of look into the horror of what really can come out of a conflict.

Loving Pablo

Watching this trailer should remind those of you who have seen Narcos just how great Wagner Moura was at portraying Pablo Escobar. The only other person who I think could ever come close to topping that performance would be Javier Bardem, and it looks like he’s just chewing up the scenery here. Director Fernando León de Aranoa is showcasing one part about Escobar’s reign, one that Narcos did quite well, and it stands to see whether he can elevate what has already been done. The trailer, though, is nothing short of fabulous.

China Salesman

There’s just a part of me that loves that director Tan Bing made an action movie starring Mike Tyson and Steven Seagal. However, there’s also the part of me which just reels at the awfulness of how this trailer is presented, edited, and uses its footage in a way that is completely disorienting as a viewer. I’m sure this is just a case of working with what you have, but good luck with trying to follow along with whatever story is being fashioned here. That said, the story is probably just secondary to a movie that is all about explosions, pithy tough guy talk, and lots of fighting. But my 13-year-old self is delighted that this even exists.

Nota bene: If you have any suggestions of trailers for possible inclusion in this column, even have a trailer of your own to pitch, please let me know by sending me a note at Christopher_Stipp@yahoo.com or look me up via Twitter at @Stipp

In case you missed them, here are the other trailers we covered at /Film this week:

  • Andrew Farkash created #DisabledJoy to celebrate the disabled community.
  • Hundreds of people have taken to social media to join Farkash in creating visibility of those who have disabilities but are joyful.
  • Farkash told INSIDER, “My goal was to empower — and bring joy — to my Disabled community and I was happy to see that it did for so many people.”

On Sunday, writer
Andrew Farkash took to Twitter to tackle a flawed thinking many people have regarding those with disabilities.

Along with four pictures by photographer Myai Jackson, Farkash wrote, “There’s a common misconception that you can’t be Disabled and happy. That you can’t express joy, and if you do, you must not be hurting or Disabled anymore. I propose a new hashtag to empower us and show people otherwise: #DisabledJoy.”

Roseanne Revival: I'm a Hypocrite Who Hates Himself for Loving It https://briefnews.eu/roseanne-revival-im-a-hypocrite-who-hates-himself-for-loving-it/ https://briefnews.eu/roseanne-revival-im-a-hypocrite-who-hates-himself-for-loving-it/#respond Fri, 30 Mar 2018 18:22:43 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/roseanne-revival-im-a-hypocrite-who-hates-himself-for-loving-it/ TV-MAI was already feeling pretty conflicted about my enthusiasm over ABC’s just-renewed Roseanne revival. Then Roseanne Barr went and took that congratulatory call from President Trump, and my feelings of ickiness morphed into a full-blown case of nausea.

There was not getting around it: I’m a two-faced hypocrite.

To give you a little context, I am not a Trump supporter. I’m opposed to pretty much everything the man stands for. The litany of, to quote the USS Callister‘s badass Captain Cole, “red f—king lines” that The Donald has crossed is too long to list in its entirety, but suffice it to say it includes bragging about sexually assaulting women, calling immigrants rapists and declaring that not all white supremacists are bad.

As a gay man, I consider his anti-LGTBQ rhetoric and policies to be a literal danger to me and my community. He chose a running mate who believes in conversion therapy. He has vowed to appoint conservative Supreme Court justices who would outlaw same-sex marriage. And then, of course, there’s his recent transgender military ban.

As if gay kids don’t have enough to contend with, now their bullies have the President of the United States telling them that their bigotry is not only justified, it’s as all-American as baseball and apple pie. And it’s unconscionable. And it has led me to sever relationships with Trump supporters who don’t view any of this as a deal-breaker. As I harrumphed to a longtime friend on Facebook last summer shortly after Trump first announced the trans military ban, “You can’t support a bigot and then deny you are a bigot.” And then I unfriended her. This isn’t about harboring a different political opinion, this is about humanity and decency and values and, I’ll just say it, the chasm between right and wrong. I can’t in good conscience share a Diet Coke with someone who supports an administration that believes my very existence is illegitimate.

But I can enjoy a television series whose star does exactly that and then takes it a step further by demanding that her trailblazing, forward-thinking role model of an alter ego adopt the same stance without exhibiting so much as an ounce of remorse or regret, without even a hint of inner conflict? It doesn’t seem like I should be able to do it. So I’ve spent many a waking hour attempting to justify my hypocrisy. For example, I argued to myself…

♦ Yes, Roseanne Conner is a Trump supporter, but the show itself remains a beacon of inclusiveness, as evidenced by the family’s open mind towards Darlene’s gender-fluid son Mark! Also, the next seven episodes are all Trump-free, so I can pretend like the premiere never happened!

♦ Star and exec producer Sara Gilbert was able to reconcile being a proud real-life lesbian with not only working alongside a Trump acolyte but agreeing to infuse the revival with a pro-Trump message, so it must be OK!

♦ Roseanne is my favorite sitcom of all time, and it’s back and in peak form, and I need this show now more than ever, and I’ve been through some s–t and I’m allowed to be a hypocrite and, besides, no one has called me on it yet!

Yep, for a while there, I managed to sell myself on all of the above arguments — over and over again, in fact. But then Barr went and took that congratulatory call from Trump, and the two of them spoke effusively about it afterward.

Trump, with a major assist from Fox News and its ilk, is pushing a narrative that Roseanne‘s ratings success is a victory for him and an endorsement of his bigotry, and Barr is adding legitimacy to the false equivalence by playing right along with him. It’s disgusting. I’m disgusted.

But am I disgusted enough to stop watching? I hope so.

Teammates loving Timmy time at The Den https://briefnews.eu/teammates-loving-timmy-time-at-the-den/ https://briefnews.eu/teammates-loving-timmy-time-at-the-den/#respond Tue, 20 Mar 2018 20:14:21 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/teammates-loving-timmy-time-at-the-den/ SOCCEROO James Meredith hailed the impact of Tim Cahill at Millwall, declaring he was the reason behind their unlikely promotion push.

While most have focused on Cahill’s lack of minutes since quitting Melbourne City, Meredith revealed that his optimism was contagious since his fairytale homecoming to The Den.

Millwall is 10th, four points behind sixth-place Middlesbrough having claimed 20 of 24 points since Cahill’s arrival, with the veteran featuring in seven of the eight games as a late substitute.

“He brings such a positive vibe. When he came we were in the bottom five, but doing well, just not putting away our chances,’’ Meredith said.

“He said to me, ‘we’re not going to lose, we can’t be beat’ I thought ‘that’s a bit strong, there’s a lot of good teams in this league’.

“But he’s not been wrong, we’ve gone from strength to strength. He had that belief and foresight. Team spirit has gone up after every game we’re sitting there smiling at each other because everyone thought we’d be battling relegation.

“Unless you are in it, it’s hard to explain it. It’s like a family club, everyone in the team is crazy and a bit weird but it’s a good crazy.”

Millwall manager Neil Harris has promised more game-time for Cahill, who’s played just 39 minutes although he was coming off a big break having not played since November.

The Lions have at least eight games left and possibly more if they can make the playoffs.

“He looks great in training, he looks very composed on the ball, in the five-a-side he scores a lot of goals. The gaffer says he will get more minutes, but it’s difficult because we keep winning,’’ Meredith said.

“He’s not had a lot of game time so he’s not had a big impact on the pitch, it’s more off the pitch. He’s given everyone confidence and boosted team spirit.”

After a long absence Meredith, who’s played all 38 games for Millwall this season, was thrilled to return to the Socceroos set up, where he’s contesting for a left-back start alongside playoff star Aziz Behich.

“I thought I had a really good (Socceroos) debut but for whatever reason I didn’t get (recalled),’’ he said.

“I was 27, I respected the manager’s decision but I really liked the way he played and I was really disappointed at the time because I think I would have boosted my career very quickly.

“Now I just have to do what I always do and that is to work hard, be focused and professional and offer everything I can to the new staff. They’ve been well received so far by all the lads because of what they have achieved.”

Crazy Ex's Donna Lynne Champlin on Paula's Big Episode, Loving Outlander and Singing About Penises https://briefnews.eu/crazy-exs-donna-lynne-champlin-on-paulas-big-episode-loving-outlander-and-singing-about-penises/ https://briefnews.eu/crazy-exs-donna-lynne-champlin-on-paulas-big-episode-loving-outlander-and-singing-about-penises/#respond Sat, 09 Dec 2017 02:36:00 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/crazy-exs-donna-lynne-champlin-on-paulas-big-episode-loving-outlander-and-singing-about-penises/ Warning: This post contains spoilers from Friday’s Crazy Ex-Girlfriend fall finale.

Crazy Ex-Girlfriend‘s Paula went home for the holidays this week, and got a new Christmas carol stuck in our heads. (Just be careful who you sing it around.)

Friday’s fall finale saw Paula head to her hometown of Buffalo to take care of her ailing (and estranged) father. But after Rebecca volunteered to keep an eye on her dad, Paula was free to reconnect with her own Josh Chan: high-school boyfriend Jeff. (She apparently got a very good look at him back then, too, as we learned in the instantly catchy musical number “The Very First Penis I Saw.”) Jeff was still a charmer and tried to rekindle things with Paula, but she ultimately rebuffed him, realizing that Jeff was best left as a fantasy before happily returning home to her husband Scott.
