It’s starting to looky likey Loki really is actually dead this time. No illusions, no trickery. Thanos himself called it: “No resurrections this time.” The filmmakers have repeatedly stressed that Infinity War deaths are real but stubborn fans are struggling to accept it. Especially for those heroes (anti and otherwise) who died before the Snap and seem least likely to be brought back through some sort of Time Travel or alternate dimension shenanigans.

Fans rejoiced when Marvel and Disney revealed plans for a spin-off Loki limited series on the new upcoming streaming platform.

Hiddleston himself tweeted: “Loki. More stories to tell. More mischief to make. More to come.”

But a devastating new report from That Hashtag Show claims Hiddleston’s Loki will only narrate the show “from beyond the grave”, suggesting it will focus on Young Loki and even potentially set up a new Young Avengers franchise.

The report said: “It seems that the series may find him narrating the events of his own life, presumably from the afterlife (Valhalla) following his death at the hands of Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War.”

This also ties in with the latest reports on the Scarlett Witch spin-off series which is now known as Vision and The Scarlet Witch.

The report adds: “Unverified rumors began to swirl that the series may be inspired, at least in part, by the recent limited Vision comic book series written by Tom King.”

This series gave Vision a family and King himself recently suggested he had stepped back from writing the ongoing Batman comic book to work on a secret television project.

Fan sites are putting two and two together and wondering if the Vision TV series will show him have a family with Wanda, which in another comic book storyline results in Young Avengers heroes Speed and Wiccan.

These two young heroes form part of the team lead by Young Loki.

This is exciting news if it opens up an entire new storytelling arc for the Marvel television universe, but will be a huge blow to Hiddleston fans. Not only does it suggest he will not appear on screen at all or very little in the TV series, but it also increasingly points to no eleventh-hour return to life for his incarnation of the beloved antihero on the big screen.

Ahead of the release of Avengers 4, it’s been revealed how one of the early shocking moments from this year’s blockbuster was kept so secret.

It seems that Loki’s shock demise stayed under wraps because not even the crew knew Tom Hiddleston’s character was being killed off until the moment it was filmed.

The reason? They had been given a decoy script in which he escaped Thanos.

In The Art of Avengers: Infinity War, executive producer Trinh Tran drops the bombshell.

“We created a version of the script where Loki would get away in an escape pod at the beginning of the movie,” she said.

“When we started shooting that particular sequence, we had crew members who were thoroughly confused.

“We had to let them know that those were fake versions of the script that they read.”

Sadly for the anti-hero’s fans, he met his maker when Thanos killed him in the very first scene.

He wasn’t the only fatality of that sequence: countless Asgardians’ were slaughtered, including – in one particularly brutal moment – Idris Elba’s Heimdall.

Hiddleston is rumoured to be appearing in Avengers 4 but it’s not known in what capacity: it could be a flashback, or a time jump or some other kind of non-linear scene.

Whether or not he’ll actually make a full return from the dead remains to be seen – but given that he’s already faked his own demise multiple times, would it be a step too far to have him do it again?

Whatever the case, Benedict Cumberbatch implied in a recent interview that characters like his – Doctor Strange – are definitely deceased.

Asked if he’ll be back, he told Jimmy Fallon: “I’m dust, baby.

“I’m just out there. I’m in the ether. I’m probably part of your food chain. I’m in your stomach somewhere.”

Marvel have launched a webpage for the film, which gives a countdown clock to its release – but there’s still no sign of a title or trailer.

Avengers 4 is out on April 26, 2019 in the UK.

With just a few weeks until the first Avengers 4 trailer is expected to arrive, reports, rumors and leaks are flying.

An incredibly detailed description of the entire footage appeared on Reddit and went viral before being mysteriously removed.

Nothing ever disappears from the internt, however, and copies appeared elsewhere. What is described sounds sensational and could be dismissed as yet more fan fiction if it hadn’t been so quickly erased.

Unlike other controversial sites like 4Chan, posts are rarely taken down from Reddit unless they break some form of rule or unless a complaint is upheld. Or, for example, if they really do reveal a massive spoiler or leak.

The full and very length description is included below and may be filled with spoilers so procede with caution.

Notable parts show the involvement of Captain America and the Kree before they even appear on the big screen, the much-missed Loki, a very grey-haired Tony Stark, confirmation of Hawkeye as Ronin, Doctor Strange being contacted in the spirit realm, Quantum Realm adventures and the set-up for a return match between Hulk and Thanos.

The most notable moment of all is one of the Infinity Stones disappearing form the Gauntlet, implying the Avengers have found a way to rewrite time.

Much of it sounds almost too perfectly like the combination of every popular theory so far and it also folds in the latest favourite for the A4 movie title but it is an exciting and compelling read. 

  

LEAKED AVENGERS 4 TRAILER DESCRIPTION:

“The trailer starts off showing the damaged Infinity Gauntlet in a field on the farm planet. As the camera focuses in on the Gauntlet, we hear Tony’s voice: “We were destined to lose.” Epic music score starts. The Quinjet is shown landing in a Wakandan wasteland as we hear Steve Rogers say: “We have come so far.” Tony and Nebula step off the jet as the remaining Avengers approach. Steve has a look of relief and says: “Tony”. Tony, seemingly defeated, shakes his head and gives a friendly smirk back to Cap. Marvel Studios Logo appears.

“We get a glimpse of the Battle of New York from 2012 Avengers. Loki is shown looking shocked and baffled as he is on top of the Stark tower. There is a flash of a blue light as the camera pans back. It’s looking like Loki fans have just had the most Marvel-lous present ever.

Few Infinity War deaths hit quite as hard as the neck-snapping exit of the God of Mischief and fans have been desperately trying to figure out how on Asgard he can come back.

The most popular theories suggest he faked his death with magic, is currently masquerading as Hulk or actually wanted to die so he could get to Hel and hook up with Hela and Odin to recruit them in the battle against Thanos.

A major new report in Variety just revealed that Loki will not only be back on screen, there will be more of him than ever before…

Variety said: “Disney is enlisting Earth’s Mightiest Heroes as the company prepares to launch its upcoming streaming service. The entertainment giant is in early development on an ambitious plan for a number of limited series centered on popular characters from the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

“These series will likely include shows centered on Loki and the Scarlet Witch, along with other beloved superheroes who have yet to appear in their own standalone movies.

“There’s an important distinction from other Marvel small screen efforts, however. The actors who portrayed these heroes and villains in the Avengers films and their spin-offs, such as Tom Hiddleston and Elizabeth Olsen, are expected to play them in the streaming shows.” 

Rather than the current crop of Marvel and DC television adaptations, these new spin-offs will have budgets closer to their big screen counterparts.

Disney will be pulling all of its content from Netflix and any other streaming servivces when the new platform launches. They will need major original content to persuade viewers to sign up and pay for another streaming service. Delivering big budget, movie-standard series featuring hugely popular characters like Loki is a sure-fire way to get the fans on board.

Variety added: “Moreover, though sources close to the production are staying mum on the cost of the programming, the budgets are expected to be hefty rivaling those of a major studio productions. Each series is expected to include six to eight episodes.” 

These new format spin-offs will be directly linked the Marvel Cinematic Universe unlike previous small screen shows like Agents of SHIELD, for example, which, although co-produced with Marvel, is primarily an ABC network production. 

Variety added “Marvel Studios will produce the shows and Kevin Feige, the guru of all things MCU, is expected to take a hands-on role in their development.”

Neither Marvel nor Disney has made any official comment, but this news is certain to have fans celebrating.

Loki alive in one or two more Avengers movies would be thrilling enough. An entire mini-series dedicated to the God of Mischief promises a whole new level of magnificent mayhem.

Disney wants to beat Netflix at the streaming game, and they know just how to do it: by bringing MCU characters to TV. A new report reveals that the House of Mouse is planning to offer streaming shows devoted to Loki, Scarlet Witch and possibly other Marvel Cinematic Universe characters. Both Tom Hiddleston and Elizabeth Olsen are expected to reprise their respective roles. More on the latest Disney streaming service news below.

Variety has the news regarding the Loki and Scarlet Witch shows on Disney’s streaming service, Disney Play. The plan is to create shows based around MCU characters who have yet to have their own standalone movies, with Loki and Scarlet Witch coming first. Bigger characters, like Iron Man and Captain America, will remain firmly in the world of film, while the streaming shows focus on “second tier characters.”

That’s not to say these prospective shows are going to be cheap. Variety says “budgets are expected to be hefty rivaling those of a major studio production” – which makes sense, because both Tom Hiddleston and Elizabeth Olsen are likely to play their respective characters. Each show will run six to eight episodes, and Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige is expected to have a an active role in their development.

This is big news, and only bolsters Disney Play’s power. Disney is also developing movies – like a live-action Lady and the Tramp – and a $ 100 million Star Wars series from Jon Favreau. All of these items put together will surely inspire viewers to sign up for Disney’s service. And what of Netflix’s Marvel shows? They will likely remain, produced under the Marvel TV brand, while the Disney Play shows will be considered the property of Marvel Studios. This possibly puts Netflix’s Marvel shows at a disadvantage – all the might of the Marvel/Disney empire could be going towards the Disney Play Marvel shows, leaving the Marvel Netflix titles out in the cold.

There was a time when something like this would seem unthinkable, but Disney has the power and the money to make it a reality. Streaming is the future, and Disney is tired of letting Netflix get all the glory. Will Loki and Scarlet Witch shows carry enough weight to hook viewers? Absolutely. Both Loki and Scarlet Witch have enough of a fan following to draw audiences in, and when you throw in the fact that Hiddleston and Olsen are reprising their roles, it sweetens the deal. Anyone who has wanted to see more of these characters will finally get their wish. And hey, who knows – maybe they’ll give Hawkeye his own series next. Remember Hawkeye?

There’s no word when we might see these shows, but Disney Play is expected to launch sometime in 2019.

Impetuous, irresponsible, inconsiderate? Yes. Selfish? Absolutely. Self-sacrificing? Never.

Loki is many things but the one thing he has never been is careless with his own life.

He must have known it would be impossible to stab Thanos. That whole scene feels so staged, the dialogue so carefully chosen that it is clearly not just the Trickster God’s flair for the dramatic at work.

Loki knew what he was doing, he even looked across at Thor to make sure his brother was registering every word. Loki wanted Thanos to kill him because he already had a plan in place.

An incredible new argument examines Loki’s last words and then explains exactly what his plan is.

Loki says: “Almighty Thanos, I, Loki, Prince of Asgard… (turns his head towards Thor), Odinson… (looks Thor in the eye, then turns back to Thanos), rightful King of Jotunheim, God of Mischief, do hereby pledge to you, my undying fidelity.”

Thanos replies: “Undying? You should choose your words more carefully.”

Except, Loki always chooses his words extremely carefully.

Redditor GregoryBassore says: “Loki’s one of those guys who works out plans to always be able to come out ahead in some way.”

And if he thinks there is a chance he might lose he already has a back-up plan.

This new theory argues that Loki needs to get to either Valhalla or Hel. Dying honourably in battle in Norse mythology guarantees a warrior eternal afterlife in Valhalla. This would give Loki access to any antire army of undead warriors waiting for Ragnarok. Thor:Ragnarok was the end of Asgard but didn’t actually open teh gates for all the eternal warriors to sweep in for one last battle.

But Loki is a god and it is just as likely he would go to Hel. Whch is where his father Odin and potentially his sister Hela would be.

Hela actress Cate Blanchet was spotted last year in the area where Avengers 4 scenes with Thor, Rocket and Valkyrie were being filmed at Durham Cathedral.

Is Loki trying to get to Odin to recruit his power and wisdom for the final battle. Is he trying to get to Hela, goddess of Death, so she can bring him back to life and potentially raise an army of the dead?

Now that Thor has Stormbreaker, he can also control the Bifrost which can open the way to Hel or even Valhalla to bring back an army, or simply his brother.

Surely, fans have not seen the last of Loki?

The catastrophic succession in deaths in Infinity War left fans reeling, but one more than any other.

Fans are already pretty sure that everyone who died in The Snap will somehow be restored.

This leaves Loki in the lurch.

Avengers 4 set pictures have already shown him in scenes with Thor and Tony Stark in New York, which are assumed to be some form of time travel or flashback moment, but there is considerable evidence that Loki’s actual death will be reversed by his brother and this returning MCU villain.

Many fans are hoping that the Trickster faked his death on the Asgardian ship by using magic but the filmmakers have repeatedly said that all the deaths in that movie are real. If Loki died, according to Asgardian rules he should then go to Valhalla or Hel.

Loki’s death and rescue from Hel was a storyline originally planned for Thor Ragnarok. Scenes shot in the UK last year would explain how he is brought back to life.

On May 3 and 4 last year, Chris Hemworth, Tessa Thompson and a full-scale model of Rocket Raccoon were seen on a set at Durham Cathedral. Cate Blanchett was also spotted in the area.

We now know that the two actresses were not seen in Infinity War so this must have been for Avengers 4.

All these stars are specific to any Asgardian storylines. The cathedral was used for the scene when Thor has that nightmarish vision in Age of Ultron

sums up what this could all mean: “I propose that the reason Thor, Rocket, Valkyrie, and Hela are all there at the church once more is to gain access to the cave that Thor used in Age of Ultron with Erik Selvig.

“To use it in some way to allow Thor to travel to Hel and confront Hela who is trapped or residing down there once more after her defeat in Thor Ragnarok to help him bring their brother Loki back from the dead.”

There is further evidence that Blanchett will return as Thor and Loki’s sister. Back in November last year we reported on a slip up by Mark Ruffalo in an I Am Rapapart podcast whe he casually mentioned two stars he had shared scenes with.

As well as Tilda Swinton, the loose-lipped star Ruffalo name-checked Cate Blanchett: “Another amazing actress. So cool. So humble, so cool. The best ones are humble and cool.”

With Avengers 4 expected to explore other dimensions, the inclusion of Swinton’s Ancient One and Blanchett’s Asgardian goddess would align perfectly with a multi-dimensional quest to defeat Thanos.

Loki’s ressurection along the way is the icing on the cake.

Loki isn’t just a master of ephemeral illusion, his magic is far more powerful than that.

He cruelly faked his own death in The Dark World, allowing a devastated Thor to weep over his body.

Remember Thor is actually touching Loki in that scene. It is not simply a trick of the eye like Loki has performed before. The illusion is solid and tangible.

Remember, too, Thanos at the time when they met on the Asgardian ship only possessed the Power Stone. He could not detect the Space Stone before Loki uncloaked it. 

It follows, then, that he also could not detect whether Loki was faking his death or not.

Loki star Tm Hiddleston also gave major clues that Loki still has a future to play out.

When asked earlier this year what he thinks Loki should conquer next, Hiddleston said: “His own mind, I think. Actually, what has been revealed to me through playing him is that all these motivations were actually misguided. Needing to be king, needing the love of his father.

“And actually, it’s something in himself, this kind of self-rejection or self-disgust that he hasn’t fully realised. He hasn’t just relaxed into it.”

This very much sounds like an unfinished story.

Leaked set photos from the Atlanta Avengers 4 shoot late last year also appear to show Loki alive and well.

The setting seems to be the battle of New York from the first Avengers movie and they show Loki in chains abefore he was taken back to Asgard for judgement.

This is almost certainly a flashback, a time travel scene or an alternate dimesion as the surviving Avengers race back through their own past to try and stop The Snap happening.

It is most likely this will be the only way fans see Loki in Avengers 4.

However whether he is restored to life along with all the other fallen, or was already secretly alive anyway, Marvel Phase 4 must surely have more Loki madness to come.

Avengers Infinity War didn’t beat around the bush, seeing both Heimdall and Loki die at the hands of Thanos and his Black Order.

However this isn’t the first time the god of mischief had faked his own death, having done so in Thor: The Dark World.

While Thanos said there would be no resurrections this time, some fans are adamant Loki isn’t dead.

Now a new theory has caught the eye of the faithful on Reddit and it’s really quite intriguing.

Reddit user writes: “I’m not sure if anyone else has posted this already, but this is one of the most convincing theories I’ve found surrounding Loki’s ‘death’.

“Loki is right handed. If you look, in movies since the Thor 1 to Avengers 1 to Ragnarok, he wields with his right hand.

“He holds weapons with his right and the sceptre in Avengers with his right.

“There are two occasions he uses his left hand (that I’ve found).”

The theorist continued: “One, when he fakes his own death in Dark World. “You can find him holding the dagger with his left hand during the entire scene. Two, when he stabs Thanos [in Avengers Infinity War].

“So, Loki’s illusion uses his left hand because he’s a mirrored version?

“The Loki that was killed in the beginning of Infinity War was an illusion and he’s still out there, maybe disguised or just in hiding.”

In an interview with the Toronto Sun Feige said: “I would say that almost all of them are permanent changes. We pull examples from comics all the time and I would say in the comics sometimes characters come back to life the next day, and sometimes characters that they swore would never come back — Bucky Barnes will never come back to life — come back and it’s awesome like in the Winter Soldier.

“I don’t know what’s going to happen in five years or 10 years, but in terms of the more immediate future that we’re building and creating now, they will be finite.”

Avengers 4 is released in UK cinemas on April 26, 2019.

Thor The Dark World is on BBC 1 tonight. 

It gives fans yet another chance to enjoy the duplicitous games of the Trickster.

Loki’s long romp through the Marvel Cinematic Universe seemed to come to an abrupt and decidedly final end in Infinity War as Thanos tossed his lifeless body to the floor and warned: “No resurrections, this time.”   

Is the heir to Asgard and Jotenheim really gone?

Don’t forget Loki is a master of magic and illusion. He cruelly faked his own death in The Dark World, allowing a devastated Thor to weep over his body.

Could he really have done it twice? Wouldn’t Thanos have been able to tell?

The Mad Titan had not yet collected the Reality Stone, so it is entirely feasible he would not have been able to penetrate Loki’s illusion.

In the build up to Infinity War’s release, Hiddelston talked openly about looking forward to explore Loki’s character further. It sounds like he knew he would live on.

Ok, he is back in chains and this is almost certainly either a scene from the past or an alternate dimesion as the surviving Avengers go back thorugh time to try and stop The Snap happening.

At this stage it woudl take a master of maigic and illusion to untangle all the theories, rumours, reports and leak surrounding Avengers 4 but we will continue to hope Loki did not meet his end on teh cold, hard deck of that Asgardian ship.
