The Brio 500 models come with multiple fields of view from 65 to 90 degrees, auto light correction via the RightLight 4 and a magnetic mounting system that makes it easy to get the best angle for your face.

Unlike the original Brio 4K model, the cylindrical Brio 500 supports 1080p at 30 fps or 720 at 60fps, though a new 4-megapixel sensor supposedly offers improved image quality. One nice feature is the new privacy shutter, operated via a dial on the right side of the webcam. Another is the "Show Mode" designed to let others see your desk for a presentation, etc., simply by tilting the camera towards it.

It includes a pair of beamforming, noise cancelling microphones and "Right Sight" auto-framing that keeps you centered in the view. The mount has a plastic clamp with a magnetic attachment on top that mates to another magnet at the bottom of the webcam, but some testers found the bond a bit weak.

The Brio 500 is now available in black, rose and off-white starting at $ 130. Logitech also unveiled the new Zone Vibe 100 (Bluetooth) and 125 headphones (Bluetooth and USB receiver) in the same colors, starting at $ 100 for the Zone Vibe 100 black model and $ 130 for the Zone Vibe 125 in black.

Logitech’s gaming handheld runs on Android, but looks like a Steam Deck https://briefnews.eu/logitechs-gaming-handheld-runs-on-android-but-looks-like-a-steam-deck/ https://briefnews.eu/logitechs-gaming-handheld-runs-on-android-but-looks-like-a-steam-deck/#respond Tue, 30 Aug 2022 22:59:04 +0000 https://briefnews.eu/logitechs-gaming-handheld-runs-on-android-but-looks-like-a-steam-deck/ Recent leaks have showcased the design of an upcoming Logitech handheld gaming device, which is set to be a competitor to popular products, including the Valve Steam Deck and the Nintendo Switch.

Industry informant Evan Blass aka @evleaks shared images of the device on Twitter, detailing that the gaming handheld would have a focus on Google Play games, which could suggest Android compatibility. Additionally, the device is expected to stream “games from cloud services such as Xbox Cloud Gaming and GeForce Now,” according to Tom’s Hardware.

Logitech, having never had a product leaked before, apparently panicked at the sudden attention and DMCA'ed that gaming handheld. https://t.co/2ddCmFvvOY

— Evan Blass (@evleaks) August 30, 2022

However, Logitech sent Blass a copyright strike, and the images were ultimately removed from Twitter, but not before they were screen-capped and saved by other publications and enthusiasts.

Logitech announced earlier this month, its plans to collaborate with Tencent Games on a “cloud gaming handheld,” which it plans to launch later this year.

From the leak, we see a white device with dark joysticks, edges, and triggers. The handheld includes an upper joystick and D-pad to the left, and Y, X, B, A buttons and a middle joystick to the right. Currently, other details, such as the dimensions of the device and the size of the display remain unknown; however, some of those details might also leak over time.

Despite Blass’ connecting the handheld to Google Play games, there is also no confirmation as to whether it will run Android as an operating system.

Tom’s Hardware noted that Android smartphones have a solid lock on gaming, as do Windows-run devices such as the Steam Deck or actual video game handle systems like the Nintendo Switch. This makes it difficult to see where a potentially Android-run Logitech gaming handheld that is not a phone might fit into the gaming space.

Whenever Logitech’s handheld releases, it can be certain to have competition from Valve, which recently confirmed in a free booklet that it has future Steam Deck models and SteamOS versions in the works.

Logitech’s latest media keyboard is designed for your smart TV https://briefnews.eu/logitechs-latest-media-keyboard-is-designed-for-your-smart-tv/ https://briefnews.eu/logitechs-latest-media-keyboard-is-designed-for-your-smart-tv/#respond Sun, 23 Sep 2018 02:31:39 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/logitechs-latest-media-keyboard-is-designed-for-your-smart-tv/

There aren’t many media keyboards devoted to smart TVs (they tend to be built for home theater PCs), but Logitech might have just given you another viable option. Its new K600 offers a compact keyboard-and-trackpad combo designed for modern smart TVs. You won’t have to laboriously enter web addresses or search queries using just your remote. The K600 won’t work with every model, but it covers popular LG, Samsung and Sony 4K sets from 2016 onward.

You don’t have to use the keyboard with a TV. It’s an otherwise standard Bluetooth peripheral, so you can connect it to Android, iOS, Mac and Windows devices — a quick switch button can change the pairing on the spot. It’s available now for $ 70, which might make it feasible if you like the thought of big-screen web browsing.

Gaming hardware is not often known for the tastefulness of its design, but the $ 150 Logitech G Pro Wireless Gaming Mouse bucks that trend—you could use this in public without drawing any undue attention to yourself.

The new mouse has been designed with the feedback of more than 50 pro gamers—including a pro Overwatch team that used it when it won the first Overwatch League—to ensure a comfortable size and shape. The gaming cred shows in a few places: it has a new 16,000 dpi sensor that can track movement at over 400 inches per second to enable quick, precise motion, and it can report its motion up to 1,000 times per second to ensure low latencies. Its low weight (80 grams) and lack of cable mean that it can be thrown around effortlessly, enabling the fastest reactions.

Though the new sensor boasts a high resolution, Logitech claims it uses one-tenth the power of its previous optical sensor. The result is that the mouse can last 60 hours on a single charge. This is enough to go many games—even a whole tournament—without having to worry about power.

Logitech’s vertical mouse could save your wrist https://briefnews.eu/logitechs-vertical-mouse-could-save-your-wrist/ https://briefnews.eu/logitechs-vertical-mouse-could-save-your-wrist/#respond Mon, 20 Aug 2018 07:26:16 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/logitechs-vertical-mouse-could-save-your-wrist/

There’s a good chance you’re holding your mouse wrong. Maybe you’re gripping it too hard, or your hand is just at a bad angle. While mouse-related injuries are fairly common, if you’re experiencing wrist or arm pain regularly, it’s probably time to look at ergonomic mice. That’s an area Logitech has been exploring for years, most recently with the MX Ergo, which brought back the trackball for the modern era. But now, Logitech is embarking on entirely new territory: its first vertical mouse.

The MX Vertical looks like one of Logitech’s modern mice flipped to its side, sitting atop a melted puddle of wax. It’s unusual, for sure. But that design has a purpose. As your hand approaches it, your wrist turns slightly to fit into the thumb groove. Your fingers rest on the top buttons in a natural way. And your arm straightens out, so that you’re not just controlling the mouse with the force of your wrist. Logitech calls the 57-degree angle of the MX Vertical a “natural handshake” orientation — holding it is almost effortless.

I’ve used Logitech mice since hopping on my first PC in the mid-90s, and I’ve tried a variety of experimental mouse designs with varying degrees of success. But any hesitation I had about using the MX Vertical melted away the first time I held it. My hand landed on it perfectly, and while it took a few minutes to get used to its unusual orientation, I was eventually zipping around the screen as accurately as with my usual mouse (a Logitech MX Master).

It handled most productivity work, like browsing through web pages, scrolling through documents and sifting through emails, without any trouble. The MX Vertical is also useful for slow strategy games like Civilization VI, but unfortunately, it’s a bit too slow to move around quickly for fast-paced shooters. (That’s not a huge surprise.)

Logitech

To prove that the MX Vertical actually helps consumers, Logitech enlisted the help of the ergonomics consulting firm VSI. In a survey of 52 users, all of them reported a decrease in discomfort in their wrists and forearms, according to VSI CEO Jeannie Iverson. She also noted that many technology companies don’t actually run those sorts of discomfort tests.

The MX Vertical features a 4,000 DPI sensor, which allows it to move around four times as far as a typical mouse with the same amount of hand movement. You can change the DPI sensitivity on the fly by hitting the button at the very top of the mouse. Clearly, that’s not in a very ergonomic spot, but that’s also not a setting you’ll need to change very often. There are also back and forward buttons towards the top of the thumb groove. As you’ve probably guessed, the mouse is only designed for right-handed users.

I’ll need to test out the MX Vertical longer to see if it really lives up to Logitech’s claims, but at this point I can say it’s definitely comfortable and accurate. You can pre-order the mouse today for $ 100 on Logitech’s website today, and it’ll be available in stores next month.

Logitech’s G305 is an affordable, no-lag wireless gaming mouse https://briefnews.eu/logitechs-g305-is-an-affordable-no-lag-wireless-gaming-mouse/ https://briefnews.eu/logitechs-g305-is-an-affordable-no-lag-wireless-gaming-mouse/#respond Wed, 16 May 2018 05:47:38 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/logitechs-g305-is-an-affordable-no-lag-wireless-gaming-mouse/

Logitech’s extremely-low-latency Lightspeed technology was largely reserved for well-heeled gamers when it first hit the scene last June, but it’s a much different story a year later. The peripheral maker has unveiled the G305, a Lightspeed-equipped mouse that costs $ 60 — much more justifiable than the pricier G703 and G603. You won’t get a particularly exotic design (this is a standard six-button mouse), but you also won’t have to compromise on lag just because you’re using a mid-tier mouse. It uses Logitech’s newer 12,000DPI HERO sensor, too, so it promises to be as responsive as it its more expensive counterparts.

How long it lasts depends on how much you value that all-out performance. Use the G305 at full performance and you can expect 250 hours (aka just over 10 days) of continuous input with an AA battery. If you’re willing to dial back to an 8ms report rate, though, you can stretch the battery life to nine months.

The G305 should be available worldwide later in May in black and white variants. It might not have RGB lighting or an abundance of controls, but Logitech is undoubtedly betting that this is part of the appeal. This is a no-frills design for people who care only about the raw performance of their mouse and are willing to sacrifice flashiness if it leaves more money in their pockets.

Logitech’s successor to the G413 mechanical keyboard doubles key switch choices https://briefnews.eu/logitechs-successor-to-the-g413-mechanical-keyboard-doubles-key-switch-choices/ https://briefnews.eu/logitechs-successor-to-the-g413-mechanical-keyboard-doubles-key-switch-choices/#respond Fri, 16 Mar 2018 01:24:36 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/logitechs-successor-to-the-g413-mechanical-keyboard-doubles-key-switch-choices/

Logitech

Logitech announced a new frameless mechanical keyboard for gaming today. It’s called the G513, and it’s the successor to the G413, which has been a popular choice since its launch last spring. The company also announced new gaming PC speakers with the same Lightsync colored-LED technology you’ll find in the company’s gaming keyboards and mice.

Logitech brags of a 1ms report rate for the G513, but the main—albeit not unique—appeal of the keyboard is that it comes with two options for mechanical key switches built by Omron—the Romer-G Tactile and the Romer-G Linear. Logitech is notably not using the leading switch manufactuer, Cherry MX.

Logitech’s Powerplay wireless-charging mouse system works flawlessly https://briefnews.eu/logitechs-powerplay-wireless-charging-mouse-system-works-flawlessly/ https://briefnews.eu/logitechs-powerplay-wireless-charging-mouse-system-works-flawlessly/#respond Wed, 21 Feb 2018 09:44:20 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/logitechs-powerplay-wireless-charging-mouse-system-works-flawlessly/

We have entered the age of wireless power, and PC peripheral engineers are among the first to use this technology for consumer products. Logitech’s new Powerplay Wireless Charging System is a mousepad that you plug into your computer that creates a magnetic field of electric energy that enables you to have a wireless mouse that is always charging. It is available now for $ 100.

I’ve spent a lot of time using a Powerplay with the Logitech G903 gaming mouse, and I love how well it works.

What you’ll like

No more wires

I have never plugged the G903 mouse from Logitech into my computer.

Powerplay uses electromagnetic resonance to build a large energy field on your desktop. This field is powerful enough to charge your mouse even while you are using and moving it. This means that your mouse is getting power when you leave it on the Powerplay, but it’s also getting continuous energy while you are working and playing.

At the same time, the Powerplay base that holds the mouse pad has Logitech’s Lightspeed wireless radio chips in it. This gives you a strong wireless connection right next to your mouse. I’ve had no noticeable latency, lag, or signal degradation in my time with the Powerplay and the G903, and I think that’s why.

I hate the feeling of a mouse cable getting caught on something during gameplay. That sensation is like nails on chalkboard to me. I’m just glad that I can drop the cord without having to worry about any other negative side effects.

No more thinking about batteries

The G903 has a battery in it, but I’ve never thought about it. I really like the Razer Lancehead wireless mouse — that’s a great mouse with an awesome wireless radio, but it sucked having to plug it in every couple of days. I had a USB port on my PC reserved for its special cable, which turned it into a wired mouse.

But you never have to think about or deal with any of that with Powerplay. The battery is always full and ready to go, and that’s empowering … if you can forgive the pun.

What you won’t like

Mouse pad isn’t quite as large as I like

I like large mouse pads and small keyboards. The Powerplay mouse pad isn’t quite large enough. It is slightly larger than a standard mouse pad, but I would prefer something bigger to support lower CPI mouse settings. I’m making this work, and I’m no pro, so the size of my mouse surface isn’t going to make or break anything. But still, I hope Logitech provides a way to upgrade the size without having to buy an entirely new Powerplay.

Conclusion

I hate cables, so wireless charging is very exciting to me. Electromagnetic resonance is not new. It’s a concept that researchers have explored for a century. But it is only in the last couple of years that companies have started figuring out how to implement it into products like a mouse. And it’s here now, and it’s working. If you also hate cables, then this is a great mouse system for you.

The Logitech G903 and Powerplay charging system is available now in a bundle for $ 250. Logitech provided a sample unit for the purpose of this review.

Logitech’s G920 wheel combines ease of use with thrilling racing https://briefnews.eu/logitechs-g920-wheel-combines-ease-of-use-with-thrilling-racing/ https://briefnews.eu/logitechs-g920-wheel-combines-ease-of-use-with-thrilling-racing/#respond Tue, 20 Feb 2018 08:52:27 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/logitechs-g920-wheel-combines-ease-of-use-with-thrilling-racing/

You don’t have to settle for some shoddy toy wheel when it comes to driving games. The simulation experience you want is attainable in the Logitech G920 Driving Force racing wheel (and the PlayStation equivalent G29) for $ 400. It works with the PC or Xbox One, and it provides realistic controls with immersive force-feedback. Logitech says this is the definitive racing wheel, and after using one for the last couple of weeks, I agree.

I’ve spent several hours with the G920 in games like Forza Horizon 3, Dirt 4, Project Cars 2, Spintires: Mudrunner, and American Truck Simulator. It works amazingly well in all of these, and it has made me into someone who’s looking for the next driving sim.

Here’s why the G920 is so good.

What you’ll like

Easy to install and use

If you’ve never used a racing wheel with your games before, you might think it’s more of a headache than a fun time. But that’s not the case. Logitech designed the G920 so that you could anchor it to variety of desks using a pair of built-in clamps. Those tighten enough that the wheel stays in place even when you whip it around a corner with a ton of force. I have never had to readjust the wheel or even the optional stick shifter.

Likewise, the pedals also stay in place, but this doesn’t involve clamps. Instead, Logitech added a strip of spikes that can retract (if you’re using the pedal unit on hardwood) or extend to dig into carpet. This works like magic. The spikes stick out at an angle, and even when I’m slamming on the break for a sudden stop at a red light, the pedals don’t drift away from my feet. I have had to adjust the pedals, but that was an infrequent occurrence, and it was only to keep the unit angled properly.

Excellent force feedback

The G920 is not a passive wheel. It features a motor that translates your vehicle’s movements into force-feedback motions that fight against your hands. So if you take a turn, the wheel has the power to pull back against you to let you know that the wheels under your car are tugging away at the tarmac with ferocity. But it’s also so much more than that.

The G920 can also simulate the idling of a massive big-rig truck, the feeling of driving over dirt at high speeds, and the skidding of your wheels across a wet road. This all amplifies the immersion in a game, but it also gives you more information about how much control you have over your automobile. If the wheel is really fighting you through a series of turns, you probably need to let off the gas or you’ll risk losing control.

Elegant design

Logitech’s engineers have done a lot to make the G920 a smart and immersive experience. The easy installation is a big part of that, but it is equally smart in use. For example, all of the buttons are within the reach of your thumbs and the rear paddle shifters give you a nice click when you engage them.

I also appreciate the leather-like material on the wheel, which makes it feel like something out of a Toyota. The rest of the setup is a mixture of aluminum and plastic alloys, and they are all sturdy and nice looking.

What you won’t like

Lots of cables

My only issue with the Logitech G920 is the cable management. If you have the stick shifter, you’ll have four cords coming out of the back of the wheel: power, USB, pedals, and stick. Those cables are probably going to have to shoot out in a variety of different directions because you may have power and USB in one area, but then the pedals have to go beneath the wheel while the shifter is off to the right.

This can turn into a tangled mess in an instant, and I find that frustrating.

Conclusion

I can’t imagine playing driving games any other way now that I’ve spent so much time with the G920. I’m pricing a Playseat racing chair to build an immersive experience in my home. I’m scouring Steam for new racing games. I’m breaking out old games with any vehicles in them and trying to see if this will work — Grand Theft Auto Online is next. The wheel is amazing, and it makes driving games that much better. If you have any affinity for this genre, I give the G920 my highest recommendation.

The Logitech G920 is available now for $ 400. Logitech provided a sample unit for the purpose of this review.

Spintires: Mudrunner is too real with Logitech’s G920 Driverforce wheel https://briefnews.eu/spintires-mudrunner-is-too-real-with-logitechs-g920-driverforce-wheel/ https://briefnews.eu/spintires-mudrunner-is-too-real-with-logitechs-g920-driverforce-wheel/#respond Mon, 12 Feb 2018 22:49:27 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/spintires-mudrunner-is-too-real-with-logitechs-g920-driverforce-wheel/

My gaming weakness is physics. Throw some crazy physics interactions into your game, and I’ll show up for it. The more mundane and realistic the physics, the better — and that’s why I love Spintires: MudRunner. This truck simulator from developer Saber Interactive has you attempting to perform basic tasks like dropping off logs, but you have to get through a world of muddy roads and rushing rivers in the process.

Spintires is a simple concept, but the difficulty is in the execution. You’ll spend a lot of time trying to pull your truck through the mud using wenches and other trucks. It’s something I already enjoyed, but it’s even better now that I’ve paired it with the Logitech G920 Driveforce racing wheel. This USB steering wheel and pedal combination (with the optional stick shift) has full force-feedback with a powerful built-in motor to fight back against you as you’re driving.

The G920 has almost complete compatibility with every driving game I’ve tried it with. Popular hits like Project Cars 2, Dirt 4, and Forza Horizon 3 all worked without any tweaking. The gas, break, clutch, shifter, and steering all were mapped properly, and the wheel even properly fought against in me during corner in each of those.

But as awesome as the G920 is in Forza, I’m having the most fun using it with Spintires:

Where those racing sims are all fast-paced games that reward skillful driving, Spintires is slowpaced. But that doesn’t make it any less frantic. Instead, driving a jeep out of the mud and into the woods can often feel like a slow-moving trainwreck. And trying to keep your vehicle from tipping over with delicate steering adjustments and wenches attached to trees is way more intense when you have an actual wheel.

I’m going to have a full review of the G920 soon, but for now — I’m going to keep enjoying my time with Spintires. I may even get American Truck Simulator and see if I can combine that with the wheel and my VR headset for a fully immersive experience.
