Mew’s Gen 1 Pokedex entry states it is such a rare sight experts considered it a mirage and new players would be forgiven for thinking the same. When Nintendo and Game Freak first introduced the mousy-looking pink critter to Pokemon Red and Pokemon Blue in 1996 there was no legitimate way to catch him in-game. Pokemon players had to instead collect the #151 Pokemon as a prize in Nintendo Power contests or glitch the game code to force Mew to spawn. Obtaining Mew the legitimate way through Nintendo typically came with a certificate and an original Pokemon ID. Now, 20-years after the release of Pokemon Yellow on the Gameboy Colour, Mew is back in glorious 3D on the Nintendo Switch but with one major caveat – there is still no way to catch it in the wild. Nintendo has once again made Mew unobtainable through normal means on both the Pikachu and Eevee versions of Pokemon Let’s Go. But there is one legitimate workaround to this problem which will, unfortunately, require you to spend some money. READ MORE: Pokemon Go regionials map: Regional exclusive Pokemon MAPPED The Mystery Gifts feature has been present in the Pokemon games since the second generation of Pokemon Silver and Pokemon Gold. Mystery Gifts give players a chance to collect exclusive items and Pokemon, redeem download codes or receive gifts at official Nintendo events. With Pokemon Let’s Go, any player who has bought Nintendo’s Poke Ball Plus controller is gifted with a Mew tied to the device which you can redeem through Mystery Gifts. If you have already bought the controller follow the steps below. 1. Open the settings menu in Pokemon Let’s Go and select “Open Controller Settings’ to connect the controller. 2. Once the controller syncs to your game make sure you are connected to the internet and head over to the ‘Communicate’ tab. 3. Tap on ‘Mystery Gifts’ and select ‘Get with a Poke Ball Plus’ and accept the prompts on the screen. 4. The game will verify your controller and Mew will appear on your screen with a message confirming “You got Mew!” All that is left is to start training your Mew and make good use of its legendary abilities and above-average stats. READ MORE: Pokemon Let’s Go Eevee vs Pikachu exclusives: What are the differences? There appears to be no limit on when you can redeem your Mew, so technically, you could grab the mythical creature the moment you leave Professor Oak’s lab for the first time. Just keep in mind you can only ever redeem one Mew from you Poke Ball Plus and once you claim it there is no going back. And players who were hoping to transfer their Mew from Pokemon Go on their phones will be disappointed to know the Pokemon cannot be transferred to your Switch. Legendary Pokemon with the exception of Meltan and Melmetal cannot be moved between the two games. Click here to find out how to transfer Pokemon between Pokemon Go and Pokemon Let’s Go. There is also a strong possibility redeeming Mew is a limited promotion so Nintendo might pull the plug on it in the near future. Pokemon Go developer Niantic has introduced a brand new Special Research quest to celebrate the release of Pokemon Let’s Go on Switch. The ‘Pokemon Let’s Go, Meltan’ quest gives players the chance to encounter the brand new Pocket Monster. Taking place over nine stages, the ‘Let’s Go, Meltan’ quest can be found in the Special Research section of the app. “Professor Willow needs your help tracking down this Steel-type Pokemon with some new Special Research – are you up for the task?” reads a Niantic post. “You can get started right now!” To celebrate the release of Pokemon Let’s Go on Nintendo Switch, players will also encounter Kanto region Pokemon in Field Research tasks and in the wild. “Plus, in addition to the Special Research, Field Research featuring Pokemon originally discovered in the Kanto region and not commonly found in Pokemon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Pokemon: Let’s Go, Eevee! will be available from now until November 27,” Niantic continues. “Make sure to look around you during that time, as Pokemon such as Omanyte and Kabuto may appear in the wild more frequently!” You can also buy Pikachu and Eevee avatar items from the in-game shop. Niantic has also posted a fresh update about the December Community Day event. Niantic typically announces the Community Day date and featured Pokemon just a few days after the previous event ends. But a week removed from the November Community Day event starring Cyndaquil, fans are none the wiser about the date or featured Pokemon. Some fans have even speculated that the December event has been cancelled due to the holiday season. Fortunately, however, it looks like the announcement has simply been delayed and the event hasn’t been cancelled. That’s according to Niantic Support, who told one fan that the announcement is coming soon. Asked for more details about the Community Day event, Niantic Support tweeted:”We’ll be making an announcement with all of this information soon, keep an eye on the @PokemonGOApp channel for details.” You can take a look at the future Community Day contenders in the gallery above.
How to get Mew in Pokemon Let’s Go with Mystery Gifts and Poke Ball Plus
Locating Landon Kirby actually turned out to be the easiest part of the group’s mission; the brooding fugitive was hiding in a forest shack full of contraband, all of which he “doesn’t remember” stealing. (Sure, Jan.) But the situation became a little more complicated when a fire-breathing witch arrived on the scene looking for the knife. You know, the one Landon Kirby stole and lied about “losing.” (Is anyone else starting to feel like this guy is more trouble than he’s worth?)
Initially believed to be a “pyromancer,” the aforementioned fire-breathing witch eventually revealed herself to be a full-blown dragon — and she wasn’t going to slay herself. In lieu of “courage and a sword,” which is apparently the preferred method of dragon disposal in the Vampire Diaries-verse, Hope and the dagger would have to suffice… which they did not. And after Alaric was done cleaning up Hope’s mess, he called her out for bringing a death spell on their mission, one she was thinking of using on Landon Kirby.
“This hatred, this vengeance — it’s your father,” Alaric told Hope, warning that further use of black magic could very well destroy her. Fortunately, she won’t have to worry about using any more of it on Landon Kirby; while Hope and Alaric were busy fighting the dragon, he and Rafael took off. Again. And the whole experience clearly took a toll on Alaric, who ended the episode by wondering how he can continue protecting the students from “stuff that’s not supposed to exist.” Speaking of which… is that a gargoyle?

While their father was busy slaying dragons in the forest, Lizzie and Josie faced off against equally fearsome creatures: townies. Thursday’s episode marked the annual football game between the Salvatore Boarding School students and the god-awful swamp teens of Mystic Falls. Seriously, these kids are garbage. (Then again, Tyler Lockwood wasn’t exactly a peach in TVD‘s early days, either.)
The plan, as always, was to let the townies win and avoid raising suspicion about the Salvatore school, but that plan changed when a particularly nasty piece of work named Dana made a comment to Lizzie about being off her meds. Despite Josie’s strong objections, everyone started using their powers, narrowing the gap between scores considerably. But Josie was still determined to lose, using magic to sabotage Kaleb’s potentially game-winning catch, even after her fellow supernaturals agreed to stop using their powers.
But even though the Stallions lost, Lizzie still got to punch Dana in the face — while serving up a callback to TVD‘s “Not now, Dana!” — so it was like they won. Josie also came clean to Lizzie about throwing the game and doing black magic with Hope, a confession that brought them a little closer together. So, you know, it was also a win for sisterhood.
Also worth discussing…
* Are we supposed to dislike Penelope? Between her dialogue in the premiere (“I’m an equal-opportunity evil temptress”) and in this week’s episode (“The next time you burn your ex’s hair off, make sure she can’t work a lob”), I’m kind of loving her. She keeps things interesting.
* That said, I’m concerned about Penelope’s reason(s) for helping MG win over Lizzie. I can’t help but feel like it’s part of a larger revenge plan against Josie; as we learned this week when Lizzie puked black goop after Josie did black magic, their connection is strong.
* This episode had quite a few nods to both TVD and The Originals, but this shot was easily my favorite:

* How do we feel about that dragon? I knew Legacies would be introducing new creatures into the franchise, but I wasn’t expecting a literal flying, fire-breathing beast. I figured that “pyromancer” was as far as we’d go. I welcome the surprise, but I’m curious about what’s next. (I mean, when you start with a dragon, the possibilities are pretty much endless, right?)

The men’s soccer World Cup is coming back to North America in 2026, and it’ll be bigger than ever. Better than ever? Probably not.
The event will kick off with 48 teams, nearly one-fourth of the countries on Earth. A 50 percent expansion of the current field of 32 will be bloated, diluted and incredibly cumbersome for scheduling group play. Not to mention when it comes to staging the Cup, smaller countries that would struggle to host 80 games need not apply.
We can do it while building upon some interesting initiatives FIFA and other world bodies have already started.
“On one hand, I think it’s great because the World Cup is such a special event that brings people together in so many different but ultimately positive ways both on and off the field, so I say the more, the merrier,” says Jimmy Conrad, who played for the USA in the 2006 World Cup and is now a commentator and YouTube personality. “But on the other hand, it feels like a big money grab that puts financial gain ahead of preserving the integrity of this tournament, which already has a rigorous qualifying process in place to make sure that you have truly earned the right to be there, so … I’m torn.”
Now, whether you believe the cynical version that FIFA expanded the Cup for greed and politics, or with an altruistic motive to give more countries the opportunity to bask in the Cup’s glow, there’s a better way to go about it. My proposal would keep the Cup at a manageable size, allowing smaller countries to host while spreading the wealth and glory of the Cup more broadly. And we can do it while building upon some interesting initiatives FIFA and other world bodies have already started.
FIFA recently launched “Nations League” play to determine some qualifiers for the 2020 European Championships. Europe and North America will start Nations Leagues this fall, while FIFA hopes to take the concept worldwide soon. The governing body also envisions a “mini-tournament,” held the year before the World Cup, to decide the final places in the Cup.
The Nations Leagues are promising ventures, but they’re a bit redundant with qualifying games for the World Cup and continental championships. The mini-tournament idea is also interesting, but why make it so “mini”?
Instead, let’s do this:
To visualize such a setup, here’s how it could’ve looked in 2017, based on World Cup qualifying standings, world football Elo rankings (in parentheses, as of June 25) and a semi-random draw to make each group competitive. We’ll also grab some wildcard teams that overachieved in World Cup qualifying.
Direct Qualification to 2018 World Cup (16)
Qualified for Pre-Cup (64)
More countries get the opportunity to play in a major tournament — and to host one that would be less of a burden than the full-fledged World Cup. It’s a simple win-win … so it probably won’t happen.

After an opening scene of Oliver Bird and his demonic companion Lenny lazily sunbathing (she giggles, “We’re trapped”) and some confounding narration from Jon Hamm about imaginary mazes that ends with “Welcome to madness” — thanks, Jon, but we’ve been here before; we watched Season 1 — Tuesday’s premiere kicks off in earnest with a seemingly paralyzed David getting rescued by Ptonomy in an abandoned nightclub. “Help them. They’re in the maze,” he struggles to say as a room full of people chatter their teeth in supremely creepy fashion. As Cary rushes him off to treatment in a medical tube, he assures David he’s safe now: “Welcome to Division 3.” Wait… what?
Boris Johnson has donned a shirt to show off just how feminist he is. Interesting, considering he once said voting Tory means your wife will get bigger boobs. Unsurprisingly, he’s not the only MP with a shocking record for sexism.
Only a few months ago, Westminster was rocked by a sex scandal so great that inquiries were launched, MPs were stood down, and sadly one man – Carl Sargeant – took his own life as a result of allegations made against him. But who was the one that started it all? Here’s looking at you, Michael Fallon.
Defence Secretary Michael Fallon was forced out after multiple claims of sexist behaviour were levelled against him. In November, Fallon found himself in hot water after cabinet colleague Andrea Leadsom complained about his behavior. Leadsom had complained that her hands were cold, and alleged that Fallon said “I know where you can put them to warm them up.”
The Tory veteran had also been accused of putting his hand on a journalist’s knee in 2002… until she threatened to punch him.
During an SNP MP’s response to Johnson’s statement on President Trump’s visa ban in January 2017, Winston Churchill’s grandson Nicholas Soames decided to bark like a dog at a female politician.
Soames was caught making “woof” noises towards then-MP Tasmina Ahmed-Sheikh. He was forced to apologize, but defended his actions saying it was because Tasmina was “barking” at the Foreign Secretary. Right.
Labour MP Jared O’Mara, 36, was forced to quit the Women and Equalities Committee after a string of sexist comments from a decade and a half ago came bubbling to the surface. The MP for Sheffield Hallam, who was 26 at time, made the sexist remarks in internet posts, including his desire to have an orgy with members of the pop group Girls Aloud.
He also posted another message claiming that a Pop Idol winner had “only won because she was fat.” He also criticized “the prevailing western tendency to deify fatties” and said that fat people do not “deserve our respect.” What a charming fellow.
Philip ‘men’s rights activist’ Davies has had a plethora of troubling sexist moments. The Tory MP’s highlights include the time he called for the word “women” to be removed from the Women and Equalities Committee. There was also that time in 2015 when he complained that he believes men are unfairly treated by the justice system – saying that more women should go to jail, instead of fewer men chucked in the slammer. Yes, really.
Last week, some in Westminster probably suffered whiplash when he took swipes at female advocates during PMQs. “It’s amazing that noisy feminists are so quiet on this,” he said, after telling the floor how “three very brave women told us their harrowing tales about how they had been discriminated against by Sharia Councils.” But you know what combats sexism? More sexism piled on top. It’s infallible logic really, so lucky we have Davies to mansplain it to us all.

Ah, Boris Johnson: Conservative crony and colorful character with an excellent turn of phrase, some mistake him for an affable guy. Luckily, we have the internet to remind us of some of the more unsavory things the now-foreign secretary has said… just to keep it in perspective.
While a journalist for the Telegraph in 1996, Johnson went to a Labour conference, taking the opportunity to review the quality of “the hot totty” in attendance. He previously said that women turning to Labour was due to their natural “fickleness.” In what proved to be his valedictory piece for the Spectator as editor, Johnson was generous with advice to the man about to step into his shoes. “Just pat her on the bottom and send her on her way,” he said of his female publisher.
Fantastic stuff – and just to think, this is the guy that is responsible for the international diplomacy of the UK…. what could go wrong?

How long can you test the patience of fans before they tune out? Pro football may finally have found out.
Professional pigskin officially has reached full saturation. There are additional Thursday and Saturday games, along with new broadcasting platforms on Twitter and Amazon. Four times this year the league staged early games in London, so you can spend roughly 14 consecutive hours watching Sunday football. An inescapable sport was fine when our appetite for football was voracious. But now TV ratings are down. Some — including President Donald Trump — say it’s because of players protesting during the national anthem, although, as the Wall Street Journal reports, ratings actually slipped more in blue states than red states. Others believe the now-widespread knowledge about concussion risks has taken the fun out of watching athletes bash each other’s brains in.
One major problem? Even if you love your hometown team, watching an NFL game is a three-hour commitment. So here’s a suggestion: Cut the crap. It’s time to make like the football across the pond and put the NFL on a running clock.
The NFL has tried to curtail game time already through less drastic measures.
Too much of American football now is about watching players, coaches and referees mill about rather than seeing ridiculous athletes pull off scintillating feats. Last year, the average NFL game lasted three hours and seven minutes, and college was even worse, at 3:24. How much action do you get for that time investment? Well, in another Wall Street Journal analysis from 2010, after accounting for huddles, stops, commercials, timeouts and dead balls, actual game play amounted to … roughly 11 minutes.
To trim the fat, the NFL can change the rules so that pass incompletions no longer stop the clock. While football squads once pounded the rock, the current pass-happy era leads to a lot of untimed downs. Referees should ease up on the ticky-tack calls, after penalties jumped from an average of 13.9 per game to 15.6 from 2009 to 2016, according to a FiveThirtyEight analysis. And commercials, which increased from 64 to nearly 70 during that span, should be diminished.
The NFL has tried to curtail game time already through less drastic measures. In March, Roger Goodell presented plans to make games shorter, including reducing the number of commercial breaks. But he still made the breaks longer, lest the features of Ford F-150s go unappreciated. Around the halfway mark of the season, those half-measures had shaved off only about 26 seconds of average game time. Regardless, not everyone agrees game length is the problem: “The prime-time games in general haven’t been good, and people get tired of tuning into bad teams,” says Scott Kacsmar, an editor for the website Football Outsiders.
Yes, getting rid of the incompletion rule would change game strategy. It would eliminate the use of the spike, Kacsmar says, and encourage teams to pass more on first down. He believes it would limit comeback opportunities: “As a fan, I want as many two-minute drills and as much drama as possible.” But a running clock would also put a premium on getting plays off quickly, meaning more tired defenses — potentially turning snoozers into high-scoring games. Who wouldn’t make that timely trade-off?

“You’re wrong. There is something in this world more dangerous than a humiliated man — a nasty woman.”
Those words, spoken by a pantsuited Ally Mayfair-Richards towards the end of Tuesday’s American Horror Story: Cult finale, are the last Kai Anderson heard before his brains were splattered all over the wall. (I know it’s not right to rejoice in someone’s murder, but I have to applaud Beverly’s marksmanship.)
Then I took a step back, turned down the crazy, and recognized Ally’s green robe as a hand-me-down from Bebe, who considered herself “the final carrier of Valerie Solanas’ torch.”
Looks like the torch has been passed!
Other things worth discussing:
* Who else gasped when Beverly said, “If she turned down Lana Winters, why would she talk to Rachel f–ing Maddow?” I guess this connects Cult with Asylum and Roanoke.
* It’s kind of amazing how Cult, which was already tied to current events when it premiered, became even more relevant as the season progressed. The shift in focus from political conflicts to larger gender conflicts felt oddly prophetic, given the growing number of sexual harassment allegations flooding the news cycle.

The Black Hood continued to torment Betty this week on Riverdale… but he’s not the only heinous villain in town.
Betty’s still on the phone with the Black Hood, who says he and Betty both want to cleanse this town of sinners — like her sister Polly. The killer knows where Polly’s staying, and warns that if Betty tells anyone about this call, “I’ll carve her like a jack-o-lantern.” She confides in Archie, though, who snaps into overprotective mode, telling his lifelong bestie: “I’m not letting you go through this alone.” But hey, Betty, how about confiding in your beloved boyfriend Jughead, huh?
Betty gets another call from the Black Hood, who calls her mom Alice “a thorn in both our sides” and tells Betty to publish what he just emailed her in the school paper. If she does, he’ll answer one question from her. In Betty’s email, she finds an old mugshot of Alice, arrested as a teen. She hesitates, but when Alice insinuates that Betty wrote that Black Hood letter herself, Betty goes ahead and publishes the mugshot. (Take that, Mom!) Betty then asks the Black Hood if the face under the hood is someone she’d recognize. He says yes. Hmmm… intriguing.
The Black Hood is pleased that Betty dumped Jughead and leads her to a creepy old abandoned house, where he promises to reveal his identity. There, she finds a gift-wrapped box with a black hood inside; he tells her to put it on and turn around. She’s facing a mirror, “to show you we’re the same,” the Black Hood says. (Wait, that’s it? Lame.) He knows she blabbed to Archie, though, and says he’s about to murder Polly, unless Betty gives him another person to kill instead. And Betty, now knowing what happened to Cheryl, gives him one: Nick St. Clair. Well, hello again, Dark Betty.
Yearbook Notes:
* So I’ve narrowed my Black Hood guesses down to three: Sheriff Keller, Betty’s dad Hal and her long-lost brother Chic. The killer’s closeness to Betty suggests the last two — but she hasn’t seen Chic’s face before, has she?
* When I said last week I wanted to see more of Cheryl this season… yeah, this isn’t what I meant.
* It was fun to see Archie and the gang cut loose with a little jingle-jangle, Betty’s wet-blanket act excepted. What? It’s harmless! Like Pixie Stix!
* Betty might think she and Jughead can patch things up… but can they really, after he’s kissed Toni the Home-Wrecking Serpent?
* Sorry, but I giggled every time Betty’s phone rang and “Lollipop” played. On what planet would a teenage girl have a sixty-year-old song as her ringtone?
* While we’re asking questions: What kind of school paper publishes old mugshots of random parents? Is that really relevant to students’ interests? Is there no teacher supervising this paper? You’re really dropping the ball here, Riverdale High faculty.

Hall launched Let’s Make a Deal in 1963. It first premiered as part of NBC’s daytime line-up before moving to ABC in 1968, where it continued through 1976. A syndicated version of Deal aired on and off through the 1970s and 80s, before returning to NBC for a brief run from 1990-91. The show was eventually revived with host Wayne Brady in 2009, with Hall putting in occasional guest appearances.
In addition to Let’s Make a Deal, Hall headlined various other game shows, including The Hollywood Squares and Password All-Stars.

“We are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Monty Hall, a television legend who hosted a show and created a format that has entertained audiences for more than 50 years,” Angelica McDaniel, CBS Entertainment’s Exec VP of Daytime Programs and Syndicated Program Development, said in a statement. “Monty’s infectious enthusiasm, humor and warmth were a winning combination that was evident to everyone he encountered, whether returning to make appearances on the current version of Let’s Make a Deal, or gracing us with his presence at a photo shoot celebrating CBS Daytime earlier this year. On screen, Monty made the ‘Big Deals,’ but in the game of life, he himself was one. Our hearts go out to his children, his entire family and friends.”
Hall is survived by his three children, including actress Joanna Gleason and TV producers Sharon Hall Kessler and Richard Hall.
