Dave Chappelle took aim at CNN anchor Don Lemon in a blistering new stand-up comedy special for Netflix — and Lemon doesn’t mind, actually.

In the new special, filmed on June 6 in front of a socially distanced live audience and titled 8:46 in honor of George Floyd — you can watch the full special above — Chappelle gets serious and tackles the systemic racism that contributed to Floyd’s untimely death and the worldwide protests that followed. He calls out Lemon in particular for demanding that celebrities speak out on the issue: “This is the streets talking for themselves. They don’t need me right now. I kept my mouth shut. But don’t think that my silence is complicit… Why would anyone care what their favorite comedian thinks after they saw a police officer kneel on a man’s neck for 8 minutes and 46 seconds?”

Lemon responded to Chappelle’s criticism on CNN’s New Day… and didn’t really argue with his stance. “I actually agree with Dave Chappelle,” he said, adding that Chappelle is his favorite comedian. “I think that the young people who are out there in the streets don’t really care what we [in the establishment] have to say.”

While he maintained that this is “a moment that we should all be using our platform to do whatever we can,” Lemon conceded that Chappelle was doing just that with his new special. “He’s talking about this issue, and I think it’s great. He’s using his platform to talk about this in the way that he can.”

Chappelle also took shots at conservative commentators Laura Ingraham and Candace Owens in the 27-minute special, which was posted for free on YouTube. The comedian has produced five previous stand-up specials for Netflix, most recently last year’s Dave Chappelle: Sticks and Stones.

Celebrity Juice returned to ITV2 last night as team captain Holly Willoughby was joined by guest team captain Stacey Solomon.

Back presenting was Keith Lemon and he kicked off the show with a naughty innuendo which resulted in both the captains revealing an unexpected sex confession to the audience.

“Hey sexy lady do you want to make a baby?” Keith asked Holly and she replied: “Not really” and he continued with: “Is it nice making babies?” And Holly remarked giggling: “I love making babies.”

Keith then went on to say: “Have you ever produced?” Confused by what he was insinuating, Holly asked the host to clarify: “Produced what? A baby?”

“No! You know. A little, a little, fountain…” Viewers saw him gesticulate with his hands.

It was then Holly asked: “Are you talking about squirting or something or other?”

“Yes!” Keith exclaimed and Holly shut him down: “No.”

He continued to debate the controversial subject: “Is it [squirting] real?” and the This Morning presenter replied: “I think so.”

“I just think they’re having a wee?” Keith continued and then turned to the other side of the studio.

“Don’t look at me!” Stacey jumped in and exclaimed, and viewers then saw Keith outraged at her speaking up.

“We don’t know you’re here yet!” He cried, and Stacey was quick to cover her back and clarify: “Well I’m not a squirter!”

Joining Keith, Holly and Stacey on the show was Kate Nash, Laurence Fox, Chris Ramsey and Maverick Sabre.

Also on the show, Holly was seen lashing out at Keith for getting her outfit ruined during a game.

Those watching at home saw her have to carry a series of leaking items in her pockets.

The game, entitled It’s Not Pocket Science, aimed to cut down on plastic bag use in supermarkets.

And Holly was asked to place a disgusting combination of food and beverages into her pockets, which are traditionally served as part of a fry-up.

When she first saw the plate, Holly appeared to be concerned as she exclaimed: “This is gonna be so gross!”

Nevertheless, she got stuck in and was seen stuffing hash browns and baked beans into her pockets.

And it wasn’t long until they started spilling out and making a huge mess.

Celebrity Juice airs Thursday nights at 10pm on ITV2.

Tooth erosion: Fruit teas and even just hot water with lemon could raise YOUR risk https://briefnews.eu/tooth-erosion-fruit-teas-and-even-just-hot-water-with-lemon-could-raise-your-risk-2/ https://briefnews.eu/tooth-erosion-fruit-teas-and-even-just-hot-water-with-lemon-could-raise-your-risk-2/#respond Fri, 23 Feb 2018 03:03:47 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/tooth-erosion-fruit-teas-and-even-just-hot-water-with-lemon-could-raise-your-risk-2/

Salt and vinegar crisps are also among problem foods which contain high levels of acid that can wear away teeth, a team from King’s College London discovered.

Their investigation, published in the British Dental Journal, also found it is not just what you eat, but how and when you eat it, that contributes to the risk of developing the condition.

Tooth erosion is not the same as tooth decay.

Erosion affects the whole tooth surface whereas decay is when a cavity is formed.

Erosion, which affects more than 30 per cent of adults in Europe, is ranked as the third most important dental condition, after cavities and gum disease.

While their data review found that increased consumption between meals was the biggest risk factor, it noted: “However, habitually drinking acidic drinks by sipping them slowly or swishing, rinsing or holding acidic drinks in the mouth prior to swallowing will also increase risk of progression”.

The study also found sugar-free soft drinks are as erosive as sugar-sweetened ones, and sweets or lozenges have large erosive potential when consumed regularly.

The researchers have suggested the increase in patients with tooth erosion may be linked to changing patterns of eating, such as increased snacking in both children and adults.

Lead author Dr Saoirse O’Toole said: “It is well known that an acidic diet is associated with erosive tooth wear, however our study has shown the impact of the way in which acidic food and drinks are consumed.

“With the prevalence of erosive tooth wear increasing, it is vitally important that we address this preventable aspect of erosive tooth wear.

“Reducing dietary acid intake can be key to delaying progression of tooth erosion.

“While behaviour change can be difficult to achieve, specific, targeted behavioural interventions may prove successful.“

Drinking certain acids like cider vinegar has been promoted recently as a weight loss method.

Among the fruit teas, those with high levels of acid included ginger and lemon, berry and rosehip flavours.

The researchers found that the rate of erosion was halved when drinks were consumed with meals.

The Morning Watch: Jackie Chan Is a Silent Comedy Master, Have a ‘Lemon Drink’ & More https://briefnews.eu/the-morning-watch-jackie-chan-is-a-silent-comedy-master-have-a-lemon-drink-more/ https://briefnews.eu/the-morning-watch-jackie-chan-is-a-silent-comedy-master-have-a-lemon-drink-more/#respond Fri, 20 Oct 2017 12:02:59 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/the-morning-watch-jackie-chan-is-a-silent-comedy-master-have-a-lemon-drink-more/ Jackie Chan - Morning Watch

(The Morning Watch is a recurring feature that highlights a handful of noteworthy videos from around the web. They could be video essays, fanmade productions, featurettes, short films, hilarious sketches, or just anything that has to do with our favorite movies and TV shows.)

In this edition, a video essay explores why Jackie Chan should be considered a master of silent comedy on the big screen. Plus, watch a short film called Lemon Drink about a woman who realizes her boyfriend only speaks in movie quotes, and see Adam Scott and Ben Schwartz respond to some wild Parks and Recreation fan theories.

First up, a new video essay explores the incredible action comedy skills that Jackie Chan deserves more respect for. Sure, Chan’s star power in the United States has faded, and most of the movies he made in Hollywood weren’t all that great, but we stilll need to give credit where credit is due. A video essay from Bradley Dixon praises Chan’s work as a master of silent comedy, and when you see the evidence, it’s hard to argue with him.

Next up, Will Goss is a friend of the site who has written for outlets such as  Empire, Cinematical, Film School Rejects, The Playlist and more. Now Goss has gotten behind the camera to direct a short film (which he also wrote, edited and produced) called Lemon Drink. It has a simple premise that all you cinephiles will love, and it takes a dark but fun twist. We won’t spoil it, but you should find out what it is by watching the short film yourself.

Finally, while there are plenty of theories about shows like Stranger Things and Westworld that keep getting discussed online, there are some fans who are obsessed with crafting theories about shows which you think wouldn’t inspire such crazy ideas. For example, The Late Late Show with James Corden recently had Parks and Recreation stars Adam Scott and Ben Schwartz react to some pretty ridiculous, though compelling, fan theories about the NBC comedy.

‘American Gods’ Review: Crispin Glover’s Mr. World Reigns Supreme in ‘Lemon Scented You’ https://briefnews.eu/american-gods-review-crispin-glovers-mr-world-reigns-supreme-in-lemon-scented-you/ https://briefnews.eu/american-gods-review-crispin-glovers-mr-world-reigns-supreme-in-lemon-scented-you/#respond Mon, 29 May 2017 15:21:52 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/american-gods-review-crispin-glovers-mr-world-reigns-supreme-in-lemon-scented-you/ lemon scented you review

(Each week, we’ll kick off our discussion of American Gods by answering one simple question: which character do we worship this week?)

Last week gave us a taste of mortal malaise, but this week we return to the pantheon. American Gods continues to give answers at the price of a hundred new questions, as ‘Lemon Scented You’ offers us a seat in the war room for the first negotiations between the Old Gods and the New. As Laura Moon comes head-to-head with the unlucky Mad Sweeney and Mr. Wednesday comes head-to-head with Mr. World, we finally learn the nature of the storm.

Who do we worship this week? Mr. World

Who controls the boy that lynched Shadow Moon? Who controls Media? Who is Mr. Wednesday afraid of? Who rattles the cages of the juggernauts? Mr. World. Played to perfection by Crispin Glover, Mr. World waltzed into the show with the confidence of a salesman selling the cure to cancer. Technical Boy, introduced to us in episode one as our supposed big bad, is merely a goon to the likes of Mr. World. Mr. World forces Technical Boy to apologize to Shadow for lynching him, going as far as to restrain him and asking Shadow if he would like to take a few swings. He has the intimidation of a mafia boss, and the charisma of a salesman that would surely get him those properties from Glengarry Glen Ross.

Mr. World is the recording of human life, able to know everything about everyone in the world. He proves his power to Shadow, by not only morphing his appearance, but recalling Shadow’s recurring nightmare and the amount of sexual partners that his mother had. His cool composure is only shaken when his ego gets the better of him, and it really is one hell of an ego. Mr. World is so confident in his position over Mr. Wednesday that he lets him go (on a good line), much to Technical Boy’s dismay. This god feels like an element – a part of everything and unable to be broken down.

Lemon Scented You: Rebranding and Franchising

In the most delightfully creepy of presentations, our merry band of new gods unveiled their plans for the future of all gods, and it’s all about synergy. Under the guise of peace and aid, Mr. World, Media, and Technical Boy pitch the rebranding of the old gods. Valhalla anew. They’ll give Mr. Wednesday a satellite and the whole of the North Korean population as a sacrifice in his name, so that he may never be forgotten. Job security for the dying breed.

Knowing that dying breeds can still have sharp teeth, Mr. World is aware in his infinite knowledge that it would be almost impossible to delete human history and the legends of the old gods, so he seeks to franchise worship. He wants to be a stockholder of belief. However, buried under this colorful pitch, spun for the audience by the distractingly charming Marilyn Monroe, is the true nature of the game, one not so uncommon to the American people: selling liberty in exchange for security. Join us or die. There are no other options.

Not at all fooled by the rainbows, unicorns, and pixelated teddy bears, Mr. Wednesday ends the smoke and mirror show, in true old god fashion, by slamming his fist into the table. “That’s all you do, occupy their time, we gave back. We gave them meaning.” Wednesday and the old gods are the mom and pop shop that won’t sell their property for the new super center. They are fighting eminent domain, retaining their private property, and their individualism against the collective of the new gods.

American Gods Season 1 2017

The Mortality of the Gods

So we know the sides of the fight, we know the setting of the fight, but what are the stakes of the fight? Nunyunnini, an ancient god brought to America via the ice bridge that once connected us to Siberia, was prayed and sacrificed to so that his worshippers may survive in this new world. However, unlike the other gods that we have met in the various coming to America sequences, this god faded into complete obscurity, being forgotten by all who knew him. Nunyunnini, a once powerful god, died. The war between the old gods and new, is not just one of ego and land rights, but one of survival, and the old gods are not the only ones in danger of being forgotten.

Mr. World may argue that the old gods need them more than they need the old gods, but in a world of innovation and rapidly changing obsessions and technologies, the new gods are not only just as likely to die due to obscurity, but they are arguably more likely to die. Although still confident in his sale, Mr. World respects the kind of power that comes with centuries of belief, telling an angsty Technical Boy that Wednesday is “older than you will ever be.” The old gods may be lacking in actual worshippers, which is where the real power lies, but unlike the new gods, they are rooted in human history so deeply that their myths and legends could survive even the darkest of technological black outs.

Mr. World wants the new gods to have a piece of that action, he wants to be a benefactor not so Wednesday and the old gods can survive, but so that their worship becomes his worship. He wants to buy the kind of constitution that the old gods have had for a millennia. Coming to terms with mortality seems like something only us mere mortals need worry about, but survival is an instinct that transcends the natural and the supernatural.

Putting the Puzzle Together

Every episode of American Gods so far has created a firestorm. They have been electrifying, innovative, and fascinating to watch. They have introduced eccentric characters and tackled multiple storylines in each episode, but all of these elements, though massively enjoyable, have left us holding a bunch of puzzle pieces without a reference picture to put them together.  While this episode still dropped a few more confusing pieces in our laps, (including but not limited to killer branches in small town police stations), it also was the first episode to really start exploring the relationships of these characters, and provided some anchors to bring us comfort while our heads are spinning from the WTF moments that we have already grown to love.

The comedic relief of Laura Moon in ‘Git Gone’ carried over this week, in her hilarious beat down of Mad Sweeney as he tried desperately to get his lucky coin back. Affectionately referring to her as, “Dead Wife,” he gains a slight upper hand in reminding her that she is in fact a body in the process of decomposition…before then continuing his unlucky streak in the back of a cop car. In a show where survival is everything, even the zombified Laura has entered a fight for the right to exist. We also started to piece together the hierarchy and relationships between the gods themselves, finding out that Technical Boy and Media are only pawns in Mr. World’s army, and that Anansi is already on Mr. Wednesday’s team. These moments and interactions provide stability in this fantastical America, and advance the plot to something that we can really sink our teeth into.

Adaptation Notes

We’re going to talk book spoilers now. If you haven’t read the novel, you’ll want to stop right here.

Changing up the series of events, Shadow Moon got a similar experience to the “House On the Rock” sequence in the book, by giving him a big awakening into what he is dealing with as that blurry line between reality and fantasy gets more indistinct. However, with the reminder of Anansi’s existence as the spider in the jail house, and spectacular introduction to the power of the new gods, I can only imagine that next week that line will be essentially washed away, with what I hope will be House on the Rock, and the infamous Tiger Balls story. With the alterations made in the adaptation, there really is no telling when that scene will come. The references to Mr. Wednesday’s real identity were in full force this week, making it almost impossible not to pick up on it.

BBC weather: Carol Kirkwood brightens up the day in skintight lemon dress – ‘Looking lush' https://briefnews.eu/bbc-weather-carol-kirkwood-brightens-up-the-day-in-skintight-lemon-dress-looking-lush/ https://briefnews.eu/bbc-weather-carol-kirkwood-brightens-up-the-day-in-skintight-lemon-dress-looking-lush/#respond Thu, 04 May 2017 07:27:30 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/bbc-weather-carol-kirkwood-brightens-up-the-day-in-skintight-lemon-dress-looking-lush/

Presenting the weather forecast in the dazzling number, Carol would have certainly stood out in dull, grey London today.

But the 54-year-would have definitely fitted in with Scotland’s weather as they woke up to bright skies once again.

Delivering the morning forecast, she told viewers there will be a lot of cloud across southern areas with the odd spot of rain.

Drifting towards the south west, it will be a cloudy start once again, with the same weather in Wales and northern England.

But north east England, Scotland and northern Ireland will have a chilly start but a sunny one as they will see sunshine for the most of the day with almost unbroken blue skies.

Later on, cloud will begin to break up in the south of England and there will be a chance of showers.

Tomorrow’s weather will be fairly similar to today, although temperatures will be lower.

And, Carol’s choice of clothing certainly caught BBC viewers attention this morning as one person even asked where she gets her dresses from.

One person wrote: “Would love to know where you buy your breakfast news dresses! Love them.”

Another complimented her sunny ensemble: “@carolkirkwood looking lush in yellow this morning Miss Kirkwood”

“@carolkirkwood looking bright and sunny today,” a third wrote.

One viewer added: Looking lovely in lemon this morning Carol, have a fab day.”

BBC Breakfast airs weekdays at 6:00am on BBC One.

Keith Lemon pays cheeky tribute to Holly Willoughby’s BOOBS on Celebrity Juice https://briefnews.eu/keith-lemon-pays-cheeky-tribute-to-holly-willoughbys-boobs-on-celebrity-juice/ https://briefnews.eu/keith-lemon-pays-cheeky-tribute-to-holly-willoughbys-boobs-on-celebrity-juice/#respond Fri, 24 Mar 2017 04:41:38 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/keith-lemon-pays-cheeky-tribute-to-holly-willoughbys-boobs-on-celebrity-juice/

The This Morning presenter recently confessed her days on sexy lingerie shoots are behind her, but the comedian wasn’t going to let her off lightly.

As a thoughtful gesture, Keith put together a cheeky video of Holly flaunting her ample cleavage from some of her time on the ITV2 show.

At the beginning off the clip, the camera zooms in on the 36-year-old who is seen wearing a plunging white top that perfectly showcased her sizeable bust.

In another part, the mother-of-three is dressed in a sexy nurse’s outfit as she hits Keith with a towel.

It finishes with a black and white image of the blonde beauty wearing a 50s styled bikini that only just contains her large assets.

Underneath the smoking hot snap it said: “Holly’s boobs 1999 – 2017.”

The former children’s TV show presenter, recently revealed she would no longer strip off of the camera because people “don’t need to see that anymore”.

Having posed for the final issue of FHM last year, she insisted it was the perfect way to blow out.

“I think probably that was a really good way to say goodbye to all of that,” she told Daily Star Sunday.

“I’ve had three children and there is enough lurking about online. I really think now I’m a mum-of-three that we don’t need to see that anymore.”

Celebrity Juice continues next Thursday on ITV2 at 10.30pm.
